Justin still rode behind Mordain. He had not talked to the elven mage since the short battle with the undead. He was beginning to get used to all the dark stares the commanders, mages and soldiers of Weissland was giving him. But the woman, Shaellana, made him feel most uneasy. When she looked at him he felt like someone looked into the very bottom of his hearth, and understood his feelings and thoughts. And it was not like when Commander Ariakas studided you with his hard eyes and guessed what you were thinking. No, this woman really really made Justin feel like she looked into the very bottom of his soul. ((We will change thread name right, when we enter Fargon?)) |

Once more General Bayel rode up to Jessa Aeris. As they rode on, the column moving ever onwards to its destination, Bayel said quietly "About Iludon. There is a tavern called the Eagle's Eye. I'm sure you'll see the irony in that. There you will meet an elf by the name of Melcebal. His second name is unknown." Jessa asked "Why am I meeting him?" Bayel looked around carefully, making sure none could overhear "You are hiring him with my money to do a job for us." Jessa frowned and replied "What kind of job?" Bayel said "Normally I would not do this, but times are desperate. He is an assassin. I'm hiring him to attempt to assassinate some of the Defiled Kingdom's necromancers, when they get here at least." Jessa pulled at the hood of her cloak, making sure it covered her head properly. She responded "An assassin? Why hire an assassin? Even for this, it doesn't sound like a good idea." Bayel answered "I discovered him shortly before the war broke out. Normally I would have had someone bring him to justice, but we need every blade we can get at the moment. I'm hiring him for this, in the hopes of eliminating some necromancers and weakening the enemy. One assassin is a small threat to Weissland compared to the Defiled Kingdom. At the very least he will likely die in the attempt." Jessa said harshly "That's hardly the point. He's a criminal, he should be brought to justice, not rewarded with more money." Bayel shook his head "He only get's half up front. He needs to kill three necromancers to get the rest. Three necromancers for one assassin. That could prevent the deaths of many Weissland soldiers, and if I can keep those soldiers alive I'll do it. This is a battle for survival, and I want to make sure it is the good citizens and soldiers of Weissland who survive and not the undead. Criminals can keep until after the war." Jessa sighed "Very well. I'll leave when we get through Fargon. Let's hope this assassin can do the job." |

The column moved on, Jessa Aeris and General Bayel moved with it in their respective places, Jessa near the front, Bayel further back with his troops. Spread out amongst the soldiers were the two Seekers Nola Siln and Talath Krae. This was his first day back on active duty, but he knew himself that he was still not ready, not that he would admit it to anyone else. Nathaniel Drakkon had no choice but to go where the column went. It was hardly his decision anymore. --Leaving The Northern Stretch-- --Entering Fargon-- |

It had taken some time to march the army through the raging river. Some undead had been swept away, but Urden knew he could easily replace them. The Weisslander's ploy of destroying the bridge had slowed the army of the Dark Lord, but it had by no means stopped it. Now, the full strength of the army was ready to continue its pursuit of the Ataya survivors. "So... much life... still here..." hissed Kazmar'Ach, materialising beside Urden. "They will all be eradicated soon enough. The Master would want us to secure the territory we pass." replied the warlord. "An... attack..?" Urden nodded. "Yes, against the dwarves. You should command His forces in this battle." "Very well... I will... take... an army to... the dwarf lords... doorstep..." "Good. But for now, we must continue the march." Urden gestured and sounded the signal to keep moving. The massive undead army moved onwards. |

The army had been marching for some time, and now they had reached the dwarven border. Kazmar'Ach's force was assembled and ready, a strong force filled with a good number of necromancers. The Dark Lord's spell sphere had reached them already and so Urden knew he could afford to send many necromancers with Kazmar. The Master would bring enough to supplement the force. "Go, Kazmar'Ach, and may death claim your enemies." said Urden. "I... will not.. fail... the Master." hissed the wraith. --Kazmar'Ach and his army (100,000) leave The Northern Stretch-- --Entering Dwarf Land-- ((Don't know the name of the dwarf place, and I'm at work right now so don't have time to check. ((They would first reach Yorein, the smallest of the four main dwarf cities. But the dwarfs have evacuated the city except for a small force of warriors and rangers who are to harass the enemy as they come. We don't have to play through it since it will only be a drop in the ocean when it comes to casualites, but you could maybe mention it as your army advance. Then there are the city of Dwarac to the north and the city of Dunane further west. Dwarac is a large fortress streching from the hillside across the plains, Dunane is smaller but built into the cliffside itslef, with mountains bordering it on three sides. I do not know if you would split your forces after Yorein or going through Dunane, but if you split your forces you would still reach Dunane first)) |

[Lathaon passing through] The eagle remembered him. Perhaps he was more recognisable than he felt. He had had to end the spell which made him ethereal, the one which now kept him alive, in order to ride the eagle. Much of his body was coal black or almost so from blood loss, but he kept his magic flowing through him, as a temporary substitute. He felt too numb to sense how long he could keep it up for, so he stared at the land below instead. |

--Entering from Asulien-- The road south had been slow and solitary for Jessa Aeris. The lands were sparse, few were travelling on the roads or anywhere else for that matter. It would take time for the people to get over the war and start returning to their ordinary lives. Jessa slowly trotted along on her horse, not wanting to tire the animal out with constant galloping. Instead of turning aside after the bridge following her trek through the Northern Stretch towards Ledek, Jessa had along the straight south road towards Crint. She was still over a week away from there by her reckoning though. She had picked up on a couple of leads regarding criminal activities in different places, but nothing which she could really deal with. By the time she reached these places the local authorities would have sorted everything out, hopefully. For the time being all Jessa could do was continue on to her destination and keep her eyes and ears open for word from her contacts. |

Jessa Aeris finally left the area called the Northern Stretch and continued on south. There were things she had to do. Word had reached her of battle in Aelendak as well as other news. One thing she had picked up she would investigate, a group of scavengers who entered the ruins of the Mystic Tower, seemingly unconnected with the Defiled Kingdom. Bad enough if the enemy had taken items from the tower, but random criminals? Jessa would not allow it to pass. --Leaving The Northern Stretch-- --Heading south-- |
