World Jousting Tournament; Post your teams and let's get jousting!

It is awesome that we have enough members that have joined and that we worked out some basic decisions on nations and so on.

Here, people will post their teams, and it is probably a good idea to read through the rules and remember that we do not have that TABLEAUX DE BATAILLE, so disregard that completely. The awesome newbie-friendly guide by Lathaon (a bit further bellow makes it easy to understand the dice rolling, etc.

Also, if your knight is unmounted, he will lose the joust, but he can still compete at a later stage.

At each stage (in each city) your team will only joust once - with a single of their Knights. You have to rotate your knights in such a fashion so that each Knight jousts two times in the whole tournament. The way you organize that is up to you.

THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO JOUSTING - by Lathaon

If against a "home" knight, take a fear test on 2D6.
8 or under passes. Knights who fail can only hit on 6s.

Work out who strikes first by comparing ploys. Here is the order

(-1 to hit, does not wound but you knock off the crest on 4+ and get 2 lance breaks if so)

Knights have S4 and T4 as standard but strength can be modified by "Audacity" or aiming for the helm, and toughness can be modified by "Stoicism".

The unmodified armour save of Knight is 3+
(Heavy Armour 5+, Shield 6+, Mounted 6+, Barding doesn't count)
...however, in WHFB, armour saves take penalties against high S values.

If a knight loses a wound, roll 1D6. He is unhorsed on a 1-3.
If a knight loses a second wound, he dies. However, I think for this tournament, we count that as just being unhorsed.

A joust lasts 3 passes normally, ends if a knight is unhorsed, and can last longer if the scores are tied.


Any results can be rerolled using rerolls from favours, though a knight can't reroll his opponent's results, and no dice can ever be rerolled more than once.

SPECIAL HOUSE RULES:

1) Knights who are jousting in their own nation cause fear.

To take a fear test, roll 2D6. If the result is equal to or under your Leadership (Ld), you pass. Otherwise, you fail.

A unit takes a fear test when...

1) It is charged by a fear-causing enemy.
If passed, the unit can react to the charge as normal (hold, flee or stand & shoot). If failed, the unit must flee if outnumbered, otherwise it will hit only on unmodified 6s.

2) It wants to charge a fear-causing enemy.
If passed, it can charge as normal. If failed, it must remain stationary.


If a unit is defeated in combat by an outnumbering, fear-causing enemy, it is automatically broken unless you can roll insane courage (double 1) for the break test.

In this case, I would say take one fear test per round, applying the first case if failed. Obviously, neither knight will outnumber.

Knightly Temper
The knight gains an extra Attack for each hit scored in the tableaux de bataille. Work out how many hits he scores and then roll that many additional attacks. This Virtue is only effective in the tableaux de bataille.

In each round the knight passes a fear test, and in the round after having a lance broken against him, the knight hates his opponent and will unhorse his opponent on a 1, 2, 3 or 4 instead of 1, 2 or 3.

I don't have much against it, but I'd say that would be most true for the eastern-most city-states. Östenby is fairly close to Realmish culture, but if it is one further to the east, it's fine with me! :)

All right. I would kindly ask one of the Ahm-Sheran team leaders to "role-play" the opening parade in Verdonsk, where the rolls for Lady's Favour will take place.

Gorfang? Alex? Which one of you wishes to be the "host" for the Ahm-Sheran stage? This means being the referee in all but your own jousts and writing the jousts in cool role-playish fashion. Being a referee, means that you are the one to receive ploys from two jousting knights and you do all the dice rolling. Then you describe the pass of the joust in a cool role-playish fashion and ask for new ploys (if needed).

When you have to fight your own battle, one of the other members will be "stand-in-referee".

Since the tournament starts in Verdonsk, the chosen Ahm-Sheran referee/game-master will also roll for ladies' favour for all competing knights in the tournament.
