Akeld and Conainn had both been knocked down by a mighty sweep of Mordain's staff. Osevis had been blasted by Mordain's magic and lay on the ground holding his chest, almost breathless but still alive. The rest of the mercenaries could do little against such an opponent, and kept moving about to try and avoid his attacks.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nathaniel ignored the monk and rushed after Anailla again, putting himself between the monks and the winged warrior.

Anailla parried aside the attacks as best she could. She was tiring.

-----

Mordain rounded on the nearest mercenary. The man slashed out at him, but he caught the blade in his hand. The mercenary tried to work it free, but Mordain ripped it from his foe's grasp and tossed it away. He surged forward, grabbed the man by the neck with one hand and lifted him from the ground, then tore his other hand through the man's chest, tearing out a handful of ribs and slicing into his heart.

Mordain tossed the bloodied mess aside and began advaning on the next closest.

-----

Kassandra had fled the scene, moving around the buildings to try and hunt down Kristian. She spotted him five buildings down, moving around some crates. She lifted her hand and blasted at him with a bolt of green fire. The boy realised at the last moment and threw himself out of the way before sprinting up the alley.

"Get back here, brat!" called Kassandra, giving chase.

-----

Nhazhan held back the divine blasts until he could no more. He leapt aside as the power burst through his defences and ravaged the wall behind him. Quickly, he sprinted along the wall and then down an alley.

"It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil.

Seeing Nathaniel's stubbornness, Laiya threw her hand out, casting a powerful light that blinded the Seraphim for a moment, making her reel back in pain.

Nathaniel took a step back, taking the time to rest. He would not fight an opponent that could not see to fight back, Drakkon could wait.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pagno's body lay ruined on the ground. There was nothing the other mercenaries could do. Akeld pushed up and ordered the others to retreat. The five remaining mercenaries began to move quickly, heading in the direction Kassandra had taken.

Mordain lashed out at the approaching mercenary, throwing him against the wall with a single swipe. Whether he was dead or not, Mordain did not know. But the demon was hungry for blood and turned towards Nathaniel, advancing like a ravenous beast.

-----

Anailla recoiled, but the spell did not last long.

"Miserable followers of a false god! I know my god, but what you believe is based on lies and ideas!" she shrieked.

-----

Kassandra hurried down the alley after Kristian when she was hit by a bolt of green fire, launched by Wyrillyn. He was standing at the far end of the alley, where she had come from. He began walking towards her with his hand raised.

"You witch! You pathetic whore! Now, you'll die!"

Conainn was hammered into the wall, and lay there stunned. The others could not risk going back for him though, and ran to find Kassandra.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Drakkon laughed darkly, even though he did not care what Anailla said about religion. He spoke to no-one in particular "I always find it so amusing that religious fanatics can declare their own gods presence and deny that of another in the same sentence."

"You think I am speaking anything less than literally?" She nodded in the direction of Krodalis. "My god is behind you."

Laiya froze in her tracks and gasped, "No..." Spinning around towards Kelan, who was sprinting after the plague-bearer, she shouted, "Kelan! It's Krodalis!"

Kelan spun about to face her and then nodded in understanding. "Kill the servant quickly!" he shouted before rushing off again, casting powerful divine magic.

Laiya threw her hand out once again, throwing a powerful arc of white lighting at the Seraphim as two monks closed on her on either side.

As Nathaniel moved to resume his duel with Anailla a bolt of lightning struck him in the back. He was launched forwards against the wall which the Seraphim was close to. The mage's head hit the wall and there was a loud crack. The body fell backwards to the ground slowly, Drakkon's head at an odd angle and his eyes lifeless.

Mordain stopped, gazing down at the lifeless body of Drakkon. His demonic eyes became fixed on the female monk, the one who had thrown the attack.

"Murderer..." he howled as he launched himself forward.

He dragged her to the ground and threw the closest monk away. His clawed hand tore across her cheek, leaving four deep wounds.

"Die!" roared the demon.

-----

Anailla spun and struck the monk to her right, shoving her blade through his shoulder. She pulled it out as she spun around, moving herself behind him. Then, she kicked him forward and rose into the air.

-----

Krodalis looked down on the dead mage. He smirked and vanished in a howling tempest.

-----

Kassandra tried to pick herself up, but Wyrillyn blasted her down once more. He stood over her with a sword in-hand. She looked up, but without fear.

"Do it. You just bring the Master one step closer to his goal." she hissed.

Wyrillyn's sword fell upon her, cutting her head clean from her shoulders.

(( Ok, I'm a little confused...did you think Laiya was attacking Nathaniel, or did you throw him in the way on purpose? I want to be clear before we continue.))

((Ok, so you threw him in there. Good to go.))

Laiya threw her hands up, casting Mordain through the air away from her as she screamed, "He killed himself, you fool!" She then spun on the Seraphim and shot a powerful bolt of energy at her, blasting her through the wall and watching as the building behind her crumbled on top of her. "Get the body!" shouted Laiya, and one of the monks rushed over to Nathaniel, kneeled down, and winked out. Laiya then approached the building, drawing her sword once more and beginning to move aside the rubble, looking for the Seraphim.

Nhazhan strolled out from behind a building, his wounds all but gone. His hand was outstretched and he struck Laiya with a titanic blast of black energy that ripped through cloth, armour and flesh alike as it threw her through the air and into the water behind.

He rushed forward and cast the rubble from atop Anailla. One of her wings was tattered and broken, as was an arm. She looked up at the monster and coughed blood.

"Don't die... Not your time yet..." hissed Nhazhan.

-----

The demon shrieked as the divine power struck him. Mordain was able to regain control of himself, the demon fleeing to the corners of his mind to lick its wounds from the holy magic. He felt weak, but knew that things were not finished. The monks could wait. He flapped his wings and rose higher into the air, scanning the streets below for the boy, Kristian.

The mercenaries entered one of the streets off the docks and kept moving. Akeld said to the others "Fan out, find Kassandra and the prisoners."

Osevis was moving slower than the others, his chest still hurt and he was finding it difficult to breath. He could not be sure but it was possible he had broken several ribs.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The nameless man finally stirred beneath the rubble. Finding he could not free himself he instead teleported out of the way. The rubble collapsed again as the space he occupied was no longer taken up. The nameless man appeared near the rubble, on one knee, and he took several moments to mentally prepare himself. As he looked around it seemed that the battle had changed dramatically in his absence.

Kelan threw a devastating arc of white power at the plague-bearer, knocking him into the wounded Seraphim and both of them back into the rubble. "Focus on the plague-walker!" he shouted, and rushed over to the water, where Laiya was struggling to get out, smoking. Kelan extended his hand and pulled her all of the way out, and she rolled over onto her back. Her face appeared burned lightly, but her armor was still mostly intact, with a few smoking holes in it, a testament to its power. "Come on," she Kelan. "Can you stand?"

"I think so," said Laiya.

Nhazhan was able to defend himself, though the power did knock him back. He looked down at Anailla.

"Flee... Ssave your sstrength... I will... deal with thesse foolss..." he hissed.

Anailla nodded and rose to her full height. Though in tremendous pain, she moved quickly from the scene.

Nhazhan stood up and brushed himself off, moving back into view of the monks. He eyed each as black power began to rise from his very form, like a shroud of smoke.

"You cannot win... Oblivion drawss near and... Aracen'ss misstake will be wiped away..." he said.

He raised his hands and sent a continuous stream of black energy at the leader.

-----

Mordain dropped into the alley, though he collided with the wall upon landing. He was bruised and battered pretty badly. He landed as close to Kristian as he could manage and gestured to him.

"Come quickly, boy. I need to get you out of here!" he said, though his breathing was rapid.

"Mordain!"

Mordain turned slowly to see his father standing, staring at him. "I should kill you where you stand!"

His father walked closer. "Krodalis wants me too, son-"

Mordain threw himself forward and struck his father across the face, knocking him to the ground. "You don't get to call me that. Not now, not ever!"

Wyrillyn wiped the blood from his lip and stood up slowly. "You're here to stop him, but he needs me just as much as he needs the boy." He smirked. "Can't leave me here, unless you want all this bloodshed to be for nothing."

Mordain's hands clenched into fists and raw hatred covered his face. "I cannot carry you both!" he said through gritted teeth.

"Then we go on foot."

Kelan was knocked backwards by the attack, but the other monks resumed their assault, and now with their full power aimed at the plague-bearer, it was indeed a powerful strike.

Nhazhan abandonned his assault to quickly throw up powerful defences. They held for the most part, but he was thrown back and a portion of the attack made it through. He didn't lose his footing.

The shade of Krodalis descended upon the scene once more, standing between the monks and Nhazhan.

"You all claim to know what this god of yours' wants. You all think that he wants this abomination called existence to continue. Well, let me tell you, that anything capable of creating something as repulsive as this is no god. He failed." spoke the shade.

Krodalis threw his arms out and his form erupted in a wall of shadow that shrouded the monks in pure darkness for just a handful of moments. When it cleared, Krodalis was gone and Nhazhan pounced upon the nearest monk. He ripped the man's throat out and threw the corpse into the others, giving him time to advance.

-----

Mordain, Wyrillyn and Kristian moved down the alley. They turned a corner and found themselves face to face with a handful of individuals, all with weapons drawn and poised to strike. Mordain instantly called his staff to him and raised it in a defensive position. He moved Kristian behind him, and his father prepared his magic.

"Who are you?" hissed Mordain.
