As the nameless man and Mordain tumbled through the air and to the ground, the nameless man lashed out as he tried to fight his way free. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Nathaniel landed hard but he finished the words to his spell. In his free hand a vicious-looking snake suddenly appeared. He tossed it at the winged attacker and it started trying to wrap itself around her neck. Nathaniel got up as he saw the woman running away again and the mercenaries starting to follow. With a hard laugh he kicked the winged woman in the gut and shouted "You fight a man who has accepted the inevitable and doesn't bloody care!" |

Nhazhan walked calmly up behind Nathaniel. He landed a powerful blow into the man's side and spun him around. He placed a hand around Nathaniel's neck and lifted him from the ground. Nathaniel's skin began to blacken at Nhazhan's touch. Anailla bit down into the snake. The creature let out a moan and released its grasp. Anailla cast it away and spat the creature's blood from her mouth. "Such deffiance within this one, Nhazhan." said Anailla as she rose back to her full height. "Ssuch... foolisshnesss..." hissed Nhazhan, his eyes narrowed as he stared at the face of his opponent. ----- The enigma kicked Mordain back, but the demon skidded along the ground on two feet and his free hand. When he came to a halt, he pressed his palm against the ground and roared. Streaks of red lightning shot along the earth before erupting, shattering the ground infront of Mordain in a series of dark-red explosions. ----- Brakk watched the nameless fight off a demon. But, he recognised the staff. Mordain? He held his weapon in a defensive position and advanced towards the nameless man. The crew hurried after the mercenaries, but two creatures and their foe stood in their way. |

The nameless man shook as lightning went through the ground into him and explosions of power smashed him about, the final of which sent him hurling through the air before smashing down to the dock again. The stone was cracked and fractured around him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The pain in Nathaniel's skin was immense, as it blackened and blistered. With a gutteral roar he lifted his sword and stabbed the foul creature holding him violently and repeatedly until it dropped him. Even as he landed on his feet he broke into a run and shoulder-barged the winged woman out of the way. The mage kept running after the mercenaries, the woman, and the prisoners. It was like he had gone mad, possessed of something which gave no thought to his injuries or pain over doing what he wanted to do. |

Nhazhan recoiled, rasping in both agony and fury. The blood that seaped from his wounds was dark green and it blackened the ground as it touched it. Anailla flew into the air and descended sharply towards the mage. She grabbed him by the scruff of his robe and cast him towards a building, smiling with satisfaction as he smacked off the wall. ----- Mordain looked at the enigma as he lay motionless. He turned to Brakk. "Mor-Mordain?" stammered the man. "After the enemy! They cannot take the boy!" snarled Mordain. He and Brakk began moving quickly after their foes. |

The nameless man rose up as Mordain and the pirate were moving away. He spotted some of the other pirates and ran towards them instead. The first any of them knew what was happening, the nameless man had kicked one of them in the back, launching the man off the dock and into the water. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nathaniel pulled himself up from the wall and shook his head. His head was bleeding freely but he did not care. Drakkon shouted the words to a spell quickly, and a bolt of lightning shot down from the sky to strike the woman in the air. He staggered forward and roared "Come down and fight, I'll tear you apart!" |

The lightning ravaged her form and she fell to the ground, managing to use her wings to ease her landing. She held up her sword. "As you wish." she said simply. Nhazhan turned just in time to see Mordain's fist collide with his face and throw him back a staggering distance. ----- Mordain hurried past the foul creature towards where Nathaniel stood ready to fight the winged woman. Brakk followed after him, both unaware of the combat between the crew and the enigma behind them. ----- Vold struck out at the nameless man, but his foe was fast and dodged as easily as a child plays with its toys. |

Nathaniel lunged forward into the attack, making two fast swipes at the winged woman. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The nameless man grabbed the arm of a pirate before snapping it against his knee mercilessly and tossing the pirate aside. He moved closer to the other pirates. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The mercenaries kept moving with Kassandra, trying to stay ahead of the running battle behind them. They pushed and pulled the two prisoners as quickly as they could. |

Nhazhan landed in a pile of crates. He lay there for a brief moment before lifting himself up. Snarling, he turned and spotted Mordain and his companion. He raised his hand and fired a bolt of pure, black fire. Anailla stepped backwards as Nathaniel advanced, parrying his attacks aside. She pushed her sword against his and forced both their blades upwards. Then, she punched him hard in the gut, the blow causing him to stagger backwards. ----- Brakk turned to see black fire rushing towards Mordain. "Look out!" he cried as he shoved Mordain out of the way. The cost of his heroism was that the fire hit him instead. Brakk was sent hurtling through the air and landed with a thud. Mordain moved quickly towards him. The captain lay on the ground, shivering and colourless. His life was fading. Mordain looked back at the advancing monstrosity with fire in his eyes. But, he also cast his glance towards the prisoners. After releasing a roar towards the monster, he flew quickly through the air towards the prisoners. Nathaniel would have to hold his own for a little longer. |

Nathaniel grunted then launched into another series of attacks. The slashes kept the woman off-balance until Drakkon got inside her guard, pushing her sword out of the way and then cracking her in the face with his fist, snapping her head back from the impact. Nathaniel moved to block the way behind Mordain, so that he could hopefully reach the prisoners unimpeeded. |

Anailla wiped her nose where the blow had struck her. She looked at her golden blood upon her fingers and laughed. "It has been so long since I have faced a challenging opponent." She gripped her blade in both hands and made a mighty swing for Nathaniel's neck. As his blade blocked her's, she released one of her hands from her grip and punched him hard in the chest, winding him. He staggered back. She walked forward quickly, grabbed his head, forced it down and lifted her knee swiftly to strike his nose. Nhazhan continued his slow advance, seemingly unaffected by the wounds he had sustained. ----- Mordain dropped down. Kassandra spun to swing her sword at him, but he caught her wrist, pulled her close and broke her arm in a heartbeat. Throwing her aside, he walked towards the mercenaries holding Kristian. "If you know what's good for you, then drop the boy and run!" he said as he walked forward with a sphere of chaotic power building in his palm. |

Akeld said "Doubtful." He made a hand movement and the other mercenaries continued running, taking the prisoners with them. Akeld ran over to Kassandra and dragged her up, before making a run for it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Nathaniel stood back and laughed. He growled "Don't try brawling with me, you'll lose." He made two quick attacks with his sword, feinting to the left. The mage then grabbed hold of her and headbutted the winged woman with great force. He finished by turning and throwing her against the nearby wall. Drakkon had grown up brawling in taverns and streets, and now had no hesitation about using his body as a weapon. Once more he moved further back to block the way to Mordain. He called out the words to a spell "Annaal nathrack dothel de-envai." This launched a jet of water at the foul, poisonous creature, which quickly frozen into a block of ice around it. |

Mordain launched the sphere towards the mercenaries. It struck one in the back and erupted in a fierce demonstration of raw power, knocking the majority of them to the ground with burn wounds. He advanced upon them. "You cannot begin to fathom what you are serving! Pathetic creatures. All you care about is gold. Does the existence of this life mean nothing to you?" ----- Anailla leaned against the wall, laughing. "You're so very brave to stand against the likes of us. But, I must admit, my patience is wearing thin." She lunged forward, parrying his blade and knocking him back as she made ready to strike. Nhazhan roared within the ice, but it was not strong enough. He broke one arm free and used it to tear away the rest of his prison. |

The nameless man suddenly appeared directly in front of Mordain. He raised his hand and a huge wall of flame burst forth towards Mordain. He said to the mercenaries "Move now." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nathaniel blocked the attack and slid his blade down the length of her sword. Locking the weapons for the moment he leant close to the winged woman and said "So many have claimed they would kill me, all have failed. You'll fail as well, because I'm already dead. I just haven't stopped fighting yet!" He kicked out, catching her on the inside of the knee. As he pulled his sword around it seemed to hum with energy. Nathaniel twisted around and kicked her across the back. Now he was between the winged woman and the creature, which by this time had freed itself. Quickly he spoke words to a spell, casting it. But nothing seemed to happen. |

Mordain raised his staff and slammed the butt off the ground. The fire parted when it reached the staff, passing by without harming Mordain. He looked at the enigma. "You... die!" His voice had lost any trace of being mortal. He was losing control of his demonic side. ----- Anailla spun towards him with lightning-speed and her sword held out to its full length. Nathaniel stepped back to dodge, but was too slow. The tip of Anailla's blade cut through his robe to leave a thin cut across his chest. It was little more than a paper-cut, however. ----- As Kristian was dragged away, he saw Wyrillyn trying to get his attention and work the gag. Squirming a little more, Kristian was able to free one of his hands from the grasp of his captor. He reached out and pulled the gag from Wyrillyn's mouth. "No!" screamed Kassandra. Wyrillyn spoke spell words and an eruption of foul power shot forth, casting the mercenaries and Kassandra away from him and the boy. "You're mercs were dumb enough to leave those spell shackles back on the ship!" taunted Wyrillyn as he melted away the rope around his arm and raised it, a glow of dark green fire wreathing about his fingers. Kristian hurried next to the man, hoping to find safety. |

Anailla raised her sword and deflected the incoming magic, moving quickly up and into the air. Nhazhan roared and extended his palms towards the magic. Constant streams of black energy erupted from his hands, meeting the divine magic. He and the monks entered a magical deadlock, each pushing against the other's sorcerey. Kassandra stood up and staggered back from Wyrillyn. He had been one of Krodalis's most powerful servants in the past millennia, stronger than she was. She feared him. "You still dare to use the powers that the Master gave you!" she shrieked, moving behind some of the mercenaries. "My power. Not his." |

Anailla descended at lightning-speed, running a monk on the flank through with her sword in a single pass before rising back into the air behind them. Nhazhan's feet dug into the ground as he continued to fend off the attacks. With the leader abandonning the assault, he found it easier to deflect the magic. ----- Wyrillyn side-stepped so that he was in front of the boy. "So Krodalis is still chasing this one, is he?" "Your failure was disappointing." said Kassandra darkly. Kristian looked up at Wyrillyn, curiously. "You were supposed to bring him back to the Master's stronghold ten years ago. Instead, you just destroyed his home." continued Kassandra. "You can blame my son for that!" shouted Wyrillyn. |

The smoke cleared from the crater. Nhazhan was doubled-over within it, smoke rising from his form. He had burns across his body from the divine power. His robe was tattered and torn. He slowly raised his head towards the monks, blood streaming from his eyes. "You... cannot... win..." In the next instant, he launched himself forward and landed ontop of one of the monks. He dragged the man to the ground and wrapped his hands around his neck. The monk's skin blackened and he was dead in a matter of moments. Anailla swooped down again, smashing into the backs of a number of the monks and sending them flying through the air. ----- "You... you killed my parents?" stammered Kristian. Wyrillyn kept his gaze fixed on Kassandra. "Yes." "Shame you never told him. You did such horrible things to them. All of them." taunted Kassandra. "You're a monster!" yelled Kristian. "I know! But you need me to protect you right now, boy. So watch your tongue!" snapped Wyrillyn. |
