James remained silent throughout the entire exchange, and finally looked at Mordain. "The support of this army no longer lies with you, Milord. You were right. Their support was shaky before, and now it is gone." |

Mordain said nothing. Shaellana, however, turned to James. "Take the army. Keep moving north. You must get these people away from Ataya, and ensure that the refugees are protected." |

"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil. "It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil. One of the Last Guardians. Suck it. | |

((Did James Castoden walk up to Mordain and Shaellana there? I think everyone is standing quite far from each other now. One group with Castoden, Mordain and Shaellana. One with the Nathaniel, Mordus and the mage lords. One with Brae and Loter, probably Marr. And Peloron and Alron somewhere? Or does it matter ))

((Okay, fine by me. thank you But what about all the soldiers during the short intense battle? Did some of them panic or break away from the column with few of their leaders present?)) Loter came closer from one side, on the other Mordus, Nathaniel and the mage lords approached. Peloron and Lord Alron stood by James Castoden. Loter spoke to Shaellana, "Do you mean you're not coming with us?" |

Shaellana shook her head. "It would seem that the Lord Castoden will not have us." |

James looked around. The faces of his men were hardened in anger, but behind them they were hurt, feeling betrayed by Mordain, someone who had supposed to have been one of their leaders. James knew Mordain was dangerous, it was quite obvious now, but leaving him alone would only invite Drathmor to exert more power over him. "You are coming with us. Shaellana, I need to speak with you alone. Lord Aldron, I believe you now have command of the army. What would you have us do?" "We march north," said Aldron without hesitation. |

((Mordain has 'slogged' through many battles for Weissland. I agree completely with Mordus; the soldiers would not throw away their alliegance to my character so easily, as he has been fighting for Weissland for a century, whereas you've only been with us for like a year or something
.))"Oh no, James, I am leaving." She made a sweeping gesture, directed at herself, Mordain, Brae and Marr. "We are leaving. If you wish to speak with me, then you will do so before we depart." She moved back, gesturing for James to move away with her where their words would go unheard by the others. |

"There are other places we can be of use. There are other problems in this land that are in dire need of aid; Lathor faces invasion from Rathor, and Endral has fallen into enemy hands. If the faith of this army, as the good Lord Castoden claims, has been lost to Mordain, then he is of no further use. And I will not abandon him." Shaellana kept her voice strong, though she could barely stand. Her body ached from the pains she had suffered. |

"You speak with foolishness if you tell us Mordain is of no use," Loter said, then he turned to Mordain "James Castoden is a man of the people, and he might be right in saying that you don't have the support of the people Mordain, but you have the support of us." With that he gestured towards himself, the mage lords, Mordus, Nathaniel and the Seeker officers and several of the army leaders. |

The mage lords, for the most part, seemed to agree with Nathaniel. Amalrith spoke "Lathor is indeed in need of aid." Boralays nodded to this. Mistrandar simply sighed, but Vedgar asked with surprise "How did you know of Endral?" |

"And what would you have me do, Loter Arthious? Walk beneath this boy," Mordain gestured towards Castoden, "or serve Lord Aldron? Both have taken my command from me. Both have shown no memory of my past services to this land!" His words were cold, yet empty and broken. |

"I can't imagine Mordain Thaendil serving no one else but this land and his cousin, in this life or another" Loter responded in equally cold voice. "No matter what you're choice will be I hope you still do that." With that the lone half-elf turned around and walked away, but not before giving James Castoden a cold look. |

Mordain returned to silence once Loter left. Shaellana looked at the others assembled. "Well, what more do you have to say?" |

With no one stepping forward, James cleared his throat and motioned for Shaellana to step away with him. In a hushed voice so the others could not hear, James said, "We both know the army will follow Lord Aldron and the mages will follow Mordain. What happened here was terrible, and some of the blame lies with me, but anyone who says it all lies with me is an idiot. Anyone who would break this force up is an even greater idiot. Yes, I screwed up, but so did Mordain, and it will not help anyone for you to take your supposed high road and abandon this army. Reconciliation is needed, not brooding. That's all I have to say, but know that if you leave, you will be abandoning Weissland, you will be turning your back on those who want you to help." |
