A dark presence washed over the army as the clouds darkened. Shaellana turned her eyes to the sky. "He's here..." Her words where but whispers in the dark. "How pathetic, Mordain; denying yourself such power! Come, taste the darkness." said the ominous voice of the Dark Lord, his words sounding across the entire area. Mordain felt the malevolent magic of Drathmor fill him. In that instant, Shaellana turned and lunged towards James, taking both herself and the Lord Castoden to the ground, James beneath her. Suddenly, Mordain reeled backwards, unleashing a horrific howl as a shockwave of power and chaotic fire erupted from his body, tearing the ground asunder. Shaellana and James, as well as all the others who had been foolish enough to remain nearby, were thrown through the air with staggering force. The Mage of Shadows stood for all to see, his true form revealed. The torso of his robes, as well as his hood, was reduced to rags that hung down from his waist. The lower half of his robes were more intact, though not without their tears. Mordain's skin was a shade of pale blue, and his hair was as white as moonlight; it even seemed to glow faintly. The power that had seeped from the tears in his robes flowed around him as a faint shroud, though it was far from thick enough to remove him from sight. His eyes were devoid of white, iris and pupil; they were consumed by a powerful, blood-red glow. Jagged fangs filled his mouth, which was thin and tall. From his back, two wings sprouted quickly, made from a mixture of thin, red webbing and chaotic magic. They resembled bat wings in appearance. On his left hand, all could see a terrible change. From fingertips to elbow, his skin was cut open, yet there was no blood. Instead, a demonic glow filled the wounds; raw power. "Treason..." Mordain's words were still spoken in his strange, double-voice, as it were, but there was no weakness to be found in him any more. What had been Mordain rose into the air, carried by his unnatural wings. His whole form seemed to shimmer, as if his physical body was unnstable. Raising his wounded hand, Mordain conjured a sphere of red and orange light. He hurled the orb directly at Peleron. The knight was able to leap from his horse before the sphere hit him, but it erupted upon impact, throwing Peleron and the knights nearby through the air. * As Mordain hurled more magic at the Weisslanders, the mind of Drathmor watched in delight, and curiosity. He requires no spell words to conjure this power... The Dark Lord knew he had to discover the origins of Mordain's power. |

"Oh my," Loter whispered in awe during Mordain's transformation, he held his spear in front of himself, but he felt transfixed by the sheer power which showed itself in front of him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Following the gigantic shockwave which had tossed down everyone Boralays quickly got to his feet, noticing Mistrandar who had been standing closest to Mordain had been knocked unconscious. Boralays turned his attention towards the monster which Mordain had transformed into. He was flanked by Borsun, Amalrith, Vedgar, Tmar and Leglath. They were some of the most powerful mage lords and mages still alive for Weissland, now they joined their magical weaves together. They needed to quickly identify Mordain's power, then either help him or defeat him. |

Mordain turned his attention to the mage lords assembled beneath him. With a mere swing of his left hand, he conjured an eruption that streaked along the ground at their feet, knocking them back and ripping the earth apart. "Deffiance... traitors! Die!" roared Mordain. He flew low in a burst of speed, throwing many of the knights from their steeds as he past before striking nearby bowmen, who had aimed at him, with jets of fire. The men were seared and their weapons destroyed. Mordain flew past the gathering of soldiers and back up into the air, turning to make another pass... |

Mordus circled the commotion from the cloudline and watched intently as chaos unfolded before his eyes. He slowed Draicha down to a glide as men were hurled about on the ground, mere specks from his hight. He wondered how far it could escalate and frowned. To much was at stake for petty bigotry to plunge the country into chaos, not withstanding the encroaching undead hordes. He streatched in the saddle and could feel the multiple bruises and lascerations across his body sting in response. He felt aged beyond his years already, and all conflict seemed so very trivial at that moment. 'Twas a good thing all existance proved futile he mused; then at least the consequences of his actions were equaly unimportant. He felt immensely frustrated as he stood up in the saddle, lept into the air and plumeted head first towards the ground. |

Nathaniel rocked back and forth as he tried to keep upright as the mage lords were knocked away and the ground ruined. He managed it and rushed over to Boralays, helping his old mentor up. Nathaniel said to him "We need to find a way to contain him, until this transformation can be reversed." |

Arrows and spells were launched from the soldiers and mages below. Mordain tore his hand through the air, summoning a diabloical sword into his grasp. He deflected the arrows, for the most part. The few that struck him had little effect; he tore them from his body without any signs of pain. Then, he unleashed an eruption of fire that dismissed all incoming attacks. "All... suffer... traitors..." It was clear that his mind was no longer his own. On the ground, Shaellana slowly rolled off of James. Her body was in agony and her back and been burned by Mordain's attack. James, she hoped, was better-off, as her intention had been to take the brunt of the impact to protect him. With tear-filled eyes, she gazed up at the monster in the skies above. Mordain, no... |

Mordus plunged through the roaring air, cloak and clothing rippling violently behind him. To the observing eye it seemed as if the moment slowed down as he impacted sickeningly hard on Mordain, bearing them both down as he clamped Mordain's wings to his blue torso. He had to scream an empowerment chant just to hold on to the demonic Mordain. Mordain hit the ground followed by Mordus. Dust, clumps of earth and tussocks of grass were flung a hundred yards in every direction as a reverberating thud could be heard. The debris settled and a siezable crater adorned the otherwise grassy plain. Mordain and Mordus lying in a ragged heap in the middle. Mordus rolled over Mordain and onto his back, grimacing in pain and coughing profusely. "Enough." He croaked hoarsly. Mordain tried to heave himself up with his arms but gave in to the very earthly pains that greeted him, rasping as much as Mordus. |

Mordain's form shimmered more violently as arcs of red lightning shot from him, lashing at the ground around him. One bolt struck Mordus, hurling him from the crater. The demonic creature rolled onto his front and propped himself up on both arms. Bones could be heard creaking as his power worked to repair the damage, in some sense of the word. Mordain howled in agony as his broken bones were forced back into place. Rising, he staggered from the crater and grabbed Mordus by the throat with his right hand, lifting him effortlessly from the ground. "Deffiance... death..." rasped Mordain. He released Mordus just as he swung his left hand; his hand collided with Mordus' head, sending him hurtling off to the side. Power still flowing from him, Mordain stood breathing heavily, watching the Weisslanders about him with nothing but hatred. |

((Pansy)) Mordus stopped mid air in his hurtling and floated to the ground with a few words, joining in with the chanting of the other mages. The visage of Drathmor flickered several times and started to fade. More mages joined in the incantation of warding, sealing the banishing; grinding away at the weav of the Liche's manifestation. |

James leapt up as soon as Shaellana had rolled off and looked at Mordain. He took a step forward, but then looked back at Shaellana. He shifted his gaze between Mordain and Shaellana several times before suddenly sheathing his sword, leaning down, picking Shaellana up, and throwing her over his shoulder. He began to sprint away as fast as he could, with Shaellana screaming in agony with every step. |

((You misunderstood me, but I'll roll with it.)) The ethereal form of Drathmor suddenly raged against the magic that was being summoned about him. He turned towards the mages that had conjured the power. "You insolent fools! You would dare to-" But Drathmor was cut off as a titanic blast of savage power struck him. Mordain stood with his arm raised towards the Dark Lord, channelling his power in a constant beam. "Evil... banished..." said Mordain. Drathmor shrieked and thrashed as Mordain's power drove him from the area. "This is far from over, Mordain. There is evil within you and it will bow to me!" cried the Dark Lord as he faded. Mordain collapsed to one knee. Around him, the ground was again slowly being lifted and disitingrated. Small arcs of power shot from him, striking the earth nearby. He breathed heavily. * Shaellana looked up at James weakly. "James, take me... back. I have to... stop him!" |

Shaellana shook her head. "No, you don't understand. You need to get away from here. Take your knights and move back. I can do more to stop him than any of those assembled here." She reached up and tentavily touched James' face. "James please; this is something I have to do." |

James let her put her hand there. There was something about Shaellana, something that James felt for her. It was not love, it was not even attraction. It was admiration, but not admiration as one would admire a hero or great king. It was a strange feeling, but James trusted her and nodded. He then turned and shouted, "Everyone back away! Give them space!" |

((Thing are happening fast here I see)) Past time: When Nathaniel had helped him up earlier Boralays had simply nodded. Amalrith had been the first to notice the presence of Drathmor. Once more the mages joined their magical weaves and began to fight together, when Mordus joining in their power increasing rapidly with each second. When Mordain used his powers to finally force Drathmor's presence away several mages fell to the ground, breathing heavily. Boralays looked to Amalrith, the other elf watching Mordain intently. "There is still evil here now," Amalrith said. "Evil as much as Drathmor, in him," as he pointed towards Mordain. When James Castoden ordered everyone to back away, Boralays considered it only for a few seconds before nodding. "Everyone back, do as he says." Slowly the mages fell backwards, as did the knights, few soldiers present, Lord Alron and his command and Loter Arthious. Borsun staid put however, together with Vedgar. The tall mage lord, strong as a warrior looked to Shaellana, "You need to explain Shaellana, what is happening with Thaendil." |
