"Aye, it is, and I'll be happy to testify at your trial," said Peloron grimly.

"Damn," Loter cursed as he quickly rode forward. The situation was getting out of hand.

"What is the point of this struggle?" he cried out. "We should be moving on. I think we have enemies enough so that we don't have to search them out among ourself."

Shaellana made her way through the knights and looked at Mordain. She was quick to notice that his robes were slowly tearing.

"My Lord, you can't! Please don't. Not here, not now!" said Shaellana, whispering the words into Mordain's ear and placing a hand upon his shoulder.

Mordain remained still. He kept his gaze on Peleron. The man was brave, Mordain would give him that much. Slowly, he turned back to James.

"And what would you have these knights do, Castoden?" he asked coldly.
"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil.

"It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil.

Most of the mage lords present and still alive now arrived at the place, curious to what has halted the column. Mistrandar Alicant, Boralays and Borsun all dismounted and made their way through the knights.

Nathaniel rode forward after Loter. Seeing the volitile situation, and many of the mage lords arriving as well, Nathaniel dismounted and stood beside the mage lords. He gave a curt nod to Boralays, who concealed his surprise well, at seeing his former student here. Nathaniel's hand rested on the hilt of his sword, scanning the faces of all in sight. If push came to shove, he knew where his loyalties lay.

"It's your move, my lord," replied James, narrowing his eyes.

Mordain nodded to Marr. "Release him."

The Seekers removed the ropes binding James.

Shaellana took Mordain's hand in hers and moved towards the circle of knights, leading Mordain behind her.

"Move out of the way!" she ordered.

((Move towards the circle of knights? I thought the knights were formed in a circle around you? Do you mean out of the circle instead?))

((I mean I'm moving towards the rim of the circle they created by surrounding us. I'm doing what Lathaon said; moving towards the inner edge.))

((Okay, I got it now))

The knights looked to each other uneasily as Mordain and Shaellana approached them. Most of them looked to Castoden and Peloron, unsure on what to do.

Mistrandar Alicant called out, "Lord Mordain."

Mordain's robes were still tearing as Mistrandar spoke. The tears were small, for now, though Shaellana knew that those nearby would have noticed. A hazy smog, dark in colour, was beginning to seep from the tears, and the ground beneath Mordain was slowly starting to crack. Shaellana knew the signs.

She moved to Mordain's ear. "These people don't know; please, my Lord, control it. You can control it, we both know you can. You must!"

Mordain's hands tensed and the tearing stopped, as did the cracking of the ground. The smog continued to move from the tears however, and the tears themselves remained as they were.

He turned slowly towards the mage lord. "What?"

"What are you..." Mistrandar said, then his eyes caught the tiny change in Mordain's appearance. Mistrandar's mind flared, then he cleared his throat and gestured to James. "It would seem James Castoden was the one who attacked you, not the other way around."

Boralays had not looked towards Mordain, but simply nodded, "An dishonorable act for one such in your position Lord Castoden," he said to the man standing beside Peloron."

Mistrandar cut him off and spoke with a high voice as he slowly walked towards Mordain, "I heard someone speak up that we have enemies enough already. That person, whoever it was, was right. No matter what this commotion was created by, let's not create a feud out of it." Then he looked intently at Mordain as his lips quickly formed the words, What is happening with you

Mordain was making deep breaths now, panting as if he had just stopped running a great distance.

"I'm fine, Mistrandar... I just need to... rest..."

James wheeled on the mage and marched up to him. "Do not presume you can judge what is honorable and dishonorable between Mordain and me. You do not know the half of it."

Shaellana looked to James. "Lord Castoden, please, have your knights move. Mordain and I need to leave."

"Leave..?" Mistrandar looked confused, and slowly shook his head.

((Jimmy, when you said you marched up to a mage did you mean Mordain, Mistrandar or Boralays then? I presume Boralays since you responded to him))

Boralays shrugged, "I do not need to. Unless Mordain attacked you first you have no reason for striking down an ally."

Mordain suddenly collapsed to his knees, his staff falling to the ground as he drove his hands deep into the earth beneath him. From within the darkness of his hood, a terrible roar was released, but it was not the roar of anything mortal-born. It was deep and beastial.

Shaellana turned instantly, seeing her Lord on the ground. The tears were spreading again. More dark energy was flowing from him, and the ground around him was being torn up and brought into the air where it slowly disintigrated.

"Move back, now!" shrieked Shaellana, signalling desperatly at all nearby.

Everyone did as she said, even the knights, though they did not move far.

James drew his sword once again and snapped his head to look at Boralays. "Shut your mouth." He pointed at Mordian with his sword but continued to speak to the mage. "You have no idea what is at stake here. Do not involve yourself in things when you do not have the whole story. You were not here. Now be quiet and get out of the way." Everyone began to back away, but James walked forward, maintaining a tight grip on his sword but holding it pointing towards the ground. "Shaellana, what is happening?"

"Mordain's rage... the darkness within him..." Shaellana could only manage small phrases through the tears that now streamed from her eyes. "There's power within him. It's taking hold." She turned on James, shoving him violently. "You had to enrage him! You have no idea what you've done! Back! MOVE BACK!" she shriekd the final words, desperation and anger.

Everyone kept moving back, but Shaellana knelt by her Lord's side. His robes continued to tear as the area of ground being broken grew. Even the darkness within his hood was being distorted...

"My Lord, please, stop this!" she begged.

"Shae...llana..." Mordain's voice had changed now completely. There was a loud, deep voice speaking, with a higher-pitched voice speaking at the same time. Two voices from the one being.
