Mordain was unresponsive. He had produced Naxxtia's orb again and was holding it before himself, watching its fading glow. |

"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil. "It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil. One of the Last Guardians. Suck it. | |

Loter Arthious rode with the knights. However, he kept in the back of the formation instead of riding at the helm. He saw Mordain and James Castoden meeting with Lord Aldron. He wondered where Lathaon Thaendil was. |

James nodded. "Well I thank you for what you have done for Weissland." "Where do we stand, James?" asked Aldron. "I am sorry to hear we could not hold the city. How many men did we lose?" James was heartened by the fact that Aldron had asked about the men, like he himself would have done. This man would make a fine commander of the armies. "We lost nearly half the force, and have no more than fifteen thousand with us." Aldron shook his head. "So many men. We cannot keep fighting like this." "I agree," said James. "We'll wear our army down too quickly. But what else can we do against Drathmor?" "We cannot run," said Aldron. "But we can't keep facing him in the open," said James. Aldron nodded thoughtfully. "Going to the hills will do us little good, we're not designed to fight like that." "True," said James. "We are most effective in the open. We've killed a good number of his troops, far more than we've lost, but his supply seems to be endless." "The dead are endless," said Aldron bitterly. |

Nathaniel listened to what was said. He added "If I may interject my lords, the dead are endless, but their masters are not. There is a limit to how many undead a necromancer can raise and control, and by doing so they are bound to the will of the necromancer. Kill the necromancers and their armies begin to crumble." |

"While Drathmor walks the earth, it does not matter," replied Aldron. "What are we supposed to do?" asked James. "We can't just try to pick off the necromancers, they're smarter than that." |

Nathaniel shook his head "Not really. Necromancers for the most part are overly egotistical and arrogant. They are no smarter than most people." |

"Drathmor would never allow his necromancers to come to harm," said Aldron. "He will keep them safe." "And even if we did try to battle our way to them, we would lose too many men," said James. "I'm not willing to do that." |

Nathaniel replied "I'm not suggesting fighting our way to them. The army must stand somewhere to hold the enemy again, if only to give the people time to make their way north. When the battle is joined, there will be necromancers within reach. Just like mages, their range is not infinite. It is then that they should be targeted. It will buy time, maybe even enough time for someone to defeat Drathmor himself." |

Nathaniel sighed "I don't know, I truly wish I did. But really, we have little option. Kill him so that Weissland, and by extension the known world will be saved. Or fail to kill him and lose everything that we hold dear. Everything dies, there must be a way to kill him." |

Nathaniel said "Drathmor is not death. He is just a necromancer, just like the others. More powerful perhaps, but he can be killed somehow just like everything else in existance. If he truly was some sort of unkillable god he would not need armies and minions, he would wipe everything out himself. He was defeated once, he can be defeated again." |

"Your sword, James." said Mordain. The three men looked at him, looks of confusion upon their faces. "Your sword can kill he who walks the line between life and death. The Castoden blade can slay Drathmor, but only when wielded by one of true Castoden blood." He paused. "The task of killing the Dark Lord... falls to you." |
|
