Nathaniel continued riding at the pace set by the column. He was near the front of the column, keeping a discreet distance where he could see and hear most of what was going on.

Beside him the spirit was talking, constantly speaking. He blocked it out, ignoring much of what she said.

Justin had been talking to numerous cart drivers, messengers, scouts, and soldiers and thus far all that people could tell him was that Ariakas had gone west just after Ledek's Crossing, which made little sense. Nothing about where he had gone. Justin cursed the events which had led to this. If he only had gotten a chance to talk to Mordain before the mage left as well.

He was about to return to Bana when he noticed a familiar figure riding alone among the soldiers.

"Oi there," he called out. "Lord Arthious?"

The half-elf slowly halted his horse, and his body gave the impression of a deep sigh. "Loter Arthious," Justin called out again as he ran over to the horse and its rider.

"Greetings, son of Mjolnir," Loter said. "I can't say I know you."

"You don't. I remember your face though. I fought with you at the Gates of Glory, against the beasts."

"I remember the battle, horrible event," Loter remarked. "What do you want?"

"Why, Arthious?" Justin asked. "Why did you leave us?"

"That is none of your concern," Loter began to move on, but Justin gripped the saddle of the horse.

"Did you leave with Castoden?" Justin asked.

"No, that man left on his own accord. He's was told of his heritage and came here to seek the truth. He found it and that is his story." Loter frowned.

"But why you? You already knew of your heritage?"

"I did not left with the priority of getting to Weissland, I wanted to get away from the White Realm," Loter said furiously. People around them turned their faces towards them.

"And why is that?"

"You're not getting it," Loter remarked with a laughter. "Maybe I would not get it had I been a member of the Order of Mjolnir as well. You never walked in the halls of the White Tower, never tasted the bitter council-debates. All my life until I came to Weissland I have been used, and formed into nothing but a simple piece in a game."

Justin dropped the saddle reins and took a step backwards, surprised at what he heard.

"The council," Loter spat out. "Nothing but simple power gaming, seeking to retain the balance. The Realm stagnated a long time ago. Almirith, Alexander, Lachlan... all of them viewed me as nothing but piece. A piece which had to be controlled and molded."

"Then to hell with the council," Justin said. "You left not them. You left the land and the people. You left our Lord of the Realm."

"To hell with the Lord I'll say," Loter snorted and was about to moved his horse again just as Justin took hold of his leg and dragged him down from the horse and into the mud. Loter got quickly up and pushed Justin away.

"What the hell are you doing boy?" he said in anger. The crowd around them had stopped moving, but there was mostly refugees around so none interfered.

"I can take such shit coming from Weisslander anyday Arthious," Justin said, his fists clenched. "But not from a Realmer."

Nathaniel had been distracted, trying to block out the sapping nature of the spirit was difficult at times. He did not even notice mage lord Tidurion ride up beside him until the elf spoke "Hello again Nathaniel. I didn't think we'd be moving on so quickly, but needs must. From what I've been told the army will be moving to Asulien."

Nathaniel looked at the mage lord and replied "I had not heard where exactly we were heading. Asulien then, we'll make a good stand there."

Tidurion said "Oh, I suppose. I don't pretend to know much about fortresses and sieges and the like. But it will be good to see them and have them close."

Nathaniel frowned in confusion "It will be good to see the fortresses and sieges and have them close?"

Tidurion laughed "Oh, oh no. That wasn't what I meant at all. You see, my family is in Asulien."

Nathaniel nodded and said "Your family."

Tidurion replied as if Nathaniel had phrased the statement like a question "My wife and two children. Boy and girl don't you know. My daughter is ten and my son is six."

Nathaniel replied politely "That's nice, and good that they are in a well protected place." He thought sarcastically, so good that his blood is being passed on to the next generation.

Mordus circled the rear of the column on the back of his drake; gliding back and forth with eyes rested firmly on the horizon, searching for movement as well as his haggard eyes could. The cold air was refreshing, but the stiffening farewell of the previous nights Firewine was doubly subduing.

No luck. A thick fog had crept devilishly in over the river, obscuring both banks.

He spotted worried refugees nervously glancing at the foreboding fog from time to time, speeding their pace as best they could or holding their children closer.

The air felt charged to his senses and an uneasy restlessness crept slowly from his drake into his own bones. He made a fist of his free hand and held it.
If he didn't kill something soon he would become irrate.

The path of the undead army was clear; where they passed, life died. Ground turned to ash and all plant life crumbled away under skeletal feet. In the distance, perhaps only an hour or so away, was Crint. And beyond, the army of Weissland.

Urden'Hel turned to a necromancer. "Release the bone dragon. Let death claim them from the skies."

The necromancer nodded and signalled to a number of undead guards. The bone dragon was chained to a massive frame, pulled along by towering undead constructs. The chains were released and the dragon took flight. It was a skeletal dragon, with what remained of its flesh hanging loosely from its form. Terrible and horrific, it made its way towards the enemy.

Urden made a signal with his hand. "Send forth the gargoyles."

Gargoyles, hides as hard as rock, took flight in numbers over a hundred. They moved far faster than the dragon and would catch the Weisslanders quickly.

"It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil.

Both Justin and Loter was about to launch themselves against each other when they both suddenly felt their limbs freeze and cling to their bodies. They were held tight by some magical force as Andros walked in between them.

"What idiocy is this?" Andros said. "You are allies against a common enemy, have you not learned enough already by fighting a whole war against each other." He looked at Justin, "You have made a grave error by attacking who you attacked."

Then he turned around to face Loter. "Move on Arthious. I will deal with this Realmer." Then he spoke a few magical words and Loter was released from the hold. He quickly gather his spear from the ground and after a furious look towards Justin he mounted his horse, and rode with the column again.

Xander found Aldron quickly and easily. When they saw his large and powerful frame walking towards them, many of the soldiers would move out of his way instinctively, leaving him a clear path.

Draicha twitched her head asside suddenly, turning around instinctively; sending Mordus off-balance momentarily. She spread her leathery wings out fully and hovered on a thermal, the line of the Weissland army visible below.

He pulled her reighns hard, partly to keep on the saddle and partly in annoyance. She screeched loudly in dismay and the echo reverberated far and wide. Mordus lowered his hood habitualy so he could hear better. A bitter wind buffeted him as he squinted his eyes and gazed into the distance. He could just make out dark shapes. No time for hindsight. He sent the drake into a dive, bringing her slowly up to fly just above the heads of the troops and refugees.

"To arms!" He bellowed. "Fell carrion on the southern wind!"

He continued along the whole length of the line and ascended at its head.

The beastial gargoyles descended upon the tail of the army, striking brutaly at the soldiers of Weissland. Men and women were thrown through the air and torn limb from limb by the savage beasts.

The dragon continued its approach, every drawing closer.

Hearing Mordus' warning, Nathaniel turned his horse sharply out to the flank and galloped back down the length of the column as quickly as he could. Holding the reins in one hand, he unsheathed his sword, the red sheen glinting on the blade's surface, as if the very metal was blood red. Nathaniel raced towards the attacking gargoyles, but he was still a long way from the rear of the column.

Borsun was the mage lord furthest behind in the column. He quickly sent a red flare up which would help the alarm to spread more quickly then he turned around and galloped towards the rear where the gargoyles were attacking.

Ahead of him, Nathaniel saw the flare of red light and noticed a rider galloping from the flare's point of origin. It was mage lord Borsun, Nathaniel could see as he got closer. He pushed his horse harder, gaining on the mage lord and getting closer to the gargoyles. He spoke a few words, raising his magical defences in preparation of the fight.

One of the gargoyles tore its claws across the throat of a Weissland soldier, ripping away the man's life. The beast then threw the corpse towards another rider, knocking the man to the ground.

The gargoyles were relentless in their attacks. The weapons of Weissland were hard-pressed to pierce the thick hides of their foes.

The plate armoured Undead Hunters turned round as one without command, advancing to the rear of the army where the gargoyles attacked from.

As the gargoyles continued to rip through the Weissland soldiers, the great bone dragon descended towards the mortals. With one swipe of its claws, it sent soldiers hurtling through the air and stripped the life from all it touched. Rising again, it unleashed a cone of deathly energy from its mouth. The energy brought instant death to those it touched, then caused them to rise as undead. Soldiers walked as corpses to strike down their former companions.

All the while, the undead army continued its advance in the distance.

As the came close to the fighting, the undead hunters broke into a run, then a charge, raising their hammers high then bringing them smashing down on the gargoyles. Some of those whose faces were not crushed were at least knocked back or stunned.

((Since when? If you ask me, anyone on the Weissland side should be able to RP what the soldiers do.))

The gargoyles shrieked and rushed towards the undead hunters, claws rending as best they could.

The dragon reared its head and unleashed another burst of necromantic power from its mouth. Then, it spotted the troublesome hunters and made its way towards them.

The armour was good protection, but not enough to prevent the gargoyles tearing through some of the men, all strong but still mortal. The undead hunters expanded their formation, giving each other room to swing their weapons almost freely.

Off to their left, they saw an enormous undead monstrosity moving towards them. It opened its mouth and unleashed its lethal breath.

The undead hunters, however, already knew its effects. Each one that was killed by the dragon was pierced through the back with the butts of their comrades' hammers.
