((Surely Asulien has defenses? If so, then it would make a lot more sense to go to a fortified city than to try to make a stand out in the open.)) |

((Why not make a stand at Fargon or Likaith? They are closer to the border but not in the open. If the army falls back to Asulien and fails, they have nowhere else to fall back to. It seems like the army is giving up a lot of ground and I was under the impression that this war was going to be fairly long.)) |

((With the size of the army, however, and the way it is designed to fight, those places are still an inferior defensive position to Asulien. Aldron and James know they cannot hold Drathmor's forces, so why make their chances of holding Asulien worse by going into a doomed battle outside the city walls and then falling back to the city?)) |

((But how is it a more defensive position? What's been written about Asulien? What are it's inherient defences? It might have mountains at its back, but the map doesn't give any scale. The distance from whatever wall is presumably around the city to the mountains could be several miles. Drathmor's army might have the room to completely surround the city. If Ataya fell to a short siege from only one side, what makes Asulien a better place to defend from a siege? Not to mention the amount of refuees that are going to be crammed into the region, taking the army to Asulien is basically giving up virtually the entire civilian population of Weissland as a sacrifice to Drathmor. There is no way you can get all of Weissland's people into the city along with the army. All those people killed are just more troops for Drathmor's army. Not to mention that for all the ground you give up, all the cities and towns you give up, you are giving all those graveyards and crypts and old battlegrounds to the Defiled Kingdom for reinforcements.)) |

((Nothing has been written about Asulien, so I'm going to RP it as a fortress, as it makes sense since that is where the Order of Light is based. You make good points, but fighting out in the open (and yes, the forests and stuff are in the open, as they would probably be a hindrance more than a help to the Weisslanders) would be even more disastrous, and would, as I said, leave the defense of Asulien much weaker. It's basically a lose-lose situation, and Aldron and James are viewing the next fight as their last stand. So they intend to rally at Asulien with the full strength of the army and fight one last time.)) |

The sergeant led the the two Mjolnir Warriors all the way to the command tent where the leaders and officers of the army had their meeting. The sergeant had the two men wait outside as he himself entered. As he came inside he saluted the men assembled in the room before addressing Lord Aldron. "My lord," he said. "There are two men from the White Realm here, both members of the Order of Mjolnir. One of them is a captain of the Order." ((What is being done to prepare the rest of Weissland land for war then? There are many strong fortresses in the western parts as well, is there not and at the moment that part is not even threatened?)) |

((Yes, it would make sense for Asulien to be heavily fortified and in a good defensive position, and certainly an easier place to defend than Fargon, now that you mention it... Fargon's actually at the bottom of a valley, if I remember rightly...)) |

"Yes, my lord. They are here with news about the army which recently arrived in Ordail as well as... questions, they said, towards and about Ariakas." He looked to the ground, touched his belt with a thoughtless touch before adding. "They also say that they are just a day ride ahead of Narandar and the last of the armies which fought in the White Realm." |

Eventually Nathaniel had spoken with a healer who had helped to heal Talath. He had sent a spell sphere to bring Nola quickly. Together they entered the tent where Talath and several others recovering from their wounds were. Nathaniel stood over the cot where Talath Krae lay. The mage had grown weary of standing over injured or dying comrades. Now he felt there was more of this in his future. He finally said "How are you feeling Talath?" The younger man replied "Not as bad as I thought. The healers have done a good job and I'll be fit and fighting again in a day or two." Nathaniel nodded "Good, and how many days until you really are ready to see battle again?" Talath looked into Nathaniel's eyes for a long moment, trying to discern if this was concern or derision on Nathaniel's part. The Seeker relented and said "Longer than a day or two, but we need everyone willing to fight, fit or not." Nathaniel sighed "You're right. Just don't get yourself killed. You either Nola. Or I won't have anyone left worth talking to. I hear it was that vampire that did this to you?" Talath nodded "Yes, I couldn't stop him in time." Nathaniel frowned "Stop him in time? What do you mean?" Talath sighed "He was attacking a mage lord, uh... Sergares I think her name was." Nathaniel looked shocked, and he said "Well, we've got to find her. She'll be amongst the wounded somewhere." Nola added "I didn't think anyone liked her. She certainly didn't seem to like anyone else. Did she like you?" Nathaniel said absently "No, she doesn't like anyone." Talath responded "No, neither of you get it. Was, Nathaniel, was. The vampire killed her." Nathaniel looked around at Talath, swallowed hard and said "Dead? I should have ended that vampire in Ordail. Time was I'd have finished him there and then." He left the tent, and headed off towards the centre of the camp to try and find some of the mage lords. |

The sergeant led Peloron outside of the tent to the two Realmers waiting outside. Both Bana and Justin bowed as Peloron came towards them, Bana maybe a bit clumsy compared to Justin. |

Nathaniel was walking into the centre of the camp, but as of yet he had not found any of the mage lords. As he was walking, looking left and right, he heard someone call "Nathaniel Drakkon isn't it?" Nathaniel looked around and saw an Elven mage walking towards him. Nathaniel replied "That is my name." The Elven mage said "I am mage lord Niaunwe Tidurion. I heard something of your return around the camp." Nathaniel said "You would think people would have more important things to talk about at a time like this than one mage returning to Weissland." Tidurion inclined his head and said "Perhaps, but I heard the information none the less." Nathaniel said calmly "Is there something I can do for you?" Tidurion shook his head "No, I just wondered if you were back." "I am." Nathaniel said tersely. The mage lord continued "Quite a time to return though. What with the White War and now the Defiled Kingdom's attacks." Nathaniel narrowed his eyes and said "Or perhaps the best time to return, Weissland seems rather short-handed at the moment. Lend a helping hand and all that." Tidurion smiled slightly and said "Well, yes, I suppose. Can I help you with anything?" Nathaniel replied "I'm looking for some of the other mage lords." Tidurion chuckled "The same here actually. I've not had a chance to speak with any of them yet." Nathaniel shifted his weight, looking at the elf more closely "I didn't see you amongst the mage lords in the column, where were you?" Tidurion looked away for a moment, his blue eyes darting to the ground before he answered "I accompanied the wounded out of Ataya, so I was ahead of the column." Nathaniel responded with a slight note of sarcasm "A noble charge." Tidurion clearly did not notice Nathaniel's tone and said "Yes, although I would have liked to remain and help the army retreat." Nathaniel nodded "Of course. Perhaps we should find the other mage lords." Tidurion only nodded in reply. |

Justin nodded and smiled to Peloron, "Thank you captain. There are a few things. First of all I would ask you if you know where we can find Commander Ariakas. From what I can see neither of the Thaendil-cousins are in the camp so I would presume Ariakas was here neither." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The elven mage lord Amalrith opened his eyes inside the tent. He hated his own lack of combined concentration and luck, but knew that neither of those factors was the reason why he could not contact or find Hans Drairan with a spell sphere. Thaendil or Sirithian could maybe have done it but both were gone now. Angry, he stood up, pushed the carpet hanging down from the tent roof away and walked out into the sunlight. There he stood face to face with mage lords Mistrandar and Borsun. "Nothing?" Mistrandar could already see it on the face off Amalrith, who still answered with a dissatisfied shrug. "I will have to keep trying," the elf said. "What of the army meeting?" "It's not over yet," the tall Borsun spoke. "Boralays and Tmar are still down there." |

Mordus sat on a crate outside his tent and stretched his arms and back unceramoniously. The abode itself lay on the edge of the large encampment. Anywhere else there would have been no space to put his drake, who quite unbothered by the change of scenery and noise of people slept fitfully a few yards outside the flickering light of his campfire. For someone resigned to an early death at the hands undead hordes he felt reassuringly calm, almost happy in fact. He squinted at Draicha as she slep, wing folded over her head. Her scales glinted in the combined moon and fire light, making the otherwise fearsome creature seem much less so. It may have been the half bottle of firewine in his gut, or perhaps some genuine endearment on his - normaly frigid - part, nevertheless he felt like giving the beast a casual pat on the head. He left her to her sleep and swigged from the bottle in his gloved hand, starring into the embers of the fire without any thought on his mind. A slight sound of movement cought his ear and he turned his head to see a Seeker standing by his side, unnervingly silent in approach as was their custom. The Seeker stopped and spoke with the voice of a woman, disguised behind black hood and cloak. "Sir, the Seekers are stationed throughout the camp as you instructed. Is there anything else?..." "No, it will suffice."He said calmly, looking at the Seeker. "Stay dispersed throughout the troops and refugees, and keep a note of all the officials as a precaution." He added on a whim. "We may be in a state of crisis but this is no time to lower our vigilance, least more turn to Drathmor." He continued, frowning as he remembered events in Ataya. The Seeker relaxed her posture, and the rigid tone was gone from her voice. "Always the paranoid one weren't you Martin?" She said lightly, an echo of bygone laughter on her words. Mordus sat bolt upright in shock and dropped the bottle on the ground. It rolled several times before comming to a halt at the black leather boot of the Seeker. "Still none the wiser in your habits as well I see." She added and picked up the bottle. "I...wh-" He tried but was made speechless and dumbfounded by the rush of memories that flooded him. That voice... |
