Nathaniel heard the man speak and was glad to hear that the army belonged to Lord Castoden. After all, it would be easier to explain his capture, escape and presence here than to some general who did not even know him. He waited for the soldier to lead them into the camp, taking a last glance back at the pass of Kuren. Nathaniel knew that there would be a Defiled Kingdom force coming through the pass, but he was sure that they would be stalled at Kuren. |

Looking down from his mount, Lathaon could see James' army camp near the Pass. He flew lower, then into a downward spiral. |

As they were escoreted in the army camp, between the tents Loter lifted his hand and pointed to sky. "Does not that look like Lord Lathaon himself?" |

Nathaniel shielded his eyes with his hand to look up at the sky where the eagle soared, replying "Your eyesight is likely better than mine, but I would not know. I've never met the Archmage." |

Moarbrek nodded. "Very good, Vardakh. Haste will be made." |
|
"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil. "It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil. One of the Last Guardians. Suck it. | |

Vardakh nodded in Moarbrek's direction, before he spurred his mount into flight. A defeaning roar could be heard as the host saw Vardakh disappear beyond the veil of cloud overhead. |

Moarbrek paid little attention to the demon as he dissappeared from sight. He only continued riding atop the back of his skeletal steed. The vast host that was bound to the will of the Master followed behind. |

Vardakh and Xeror flew in unision above the cloud. It was then when Xeror broke the silence of the night. "Moarbrek is a fool," he said. "You think I know this not?" Vardakh questioned, although not wishing a reply. His face was emotionless and drained of all colour. "He will suffer," he began, "in time." He said the final two words with such confidence and spite it sent a shiver down Xeror's spine. "But for now," Vardakh began once more: "we must follow his lead. He shall fall with the remainder of Drathmor's followers. The Dark Lord shall fall first, however." |

James was woken by a firm gloved hand grasping him on the shoulder. He immediately snapped upright, his hand shooting to the sword which lay just inches away. "Milord," said a calm, familiar voice, and James looked over to see that the man who had grabbed him was Darnil. Breathing a sigh of relief and replacing his sword, James asked, "What is it, Darnil?" "Milord, a group of our men has arrived in camp; they say they are survivors of the assault on the Great Wall." "Survivors?" asked James, sitting upright again and swinging his legs over. He began to pull on his boots and asked, "Where are they?" "They are waiting for you, Milord," said Darnil. "Right," said James. He stood up and walked out of the tent as Darnil opened the flap. Seeing a group of soldiers and several tired and bloodied men, James walked towards them. |

Nathaniel stood amongst the other survivors as Lord Castoden walked towards them. Nathaniel took a moment to look at himself, seeing the dried blood on his arms, the scars there still looking raw. Although he had used his magic to stop the bleeding, the pain was still there. Pain proves you're still alive, Nathaniel thought, remembering the tales of battle old Barnabas Graves used to tell him and his brother. A sudden pang of homesickness struck him, mixed with the pain of his broken rib. His light blue robes were dusty and dirty, with blood in many places as well. The two hand prints of blood on his knees would almost look comical if not for the bloodstained and battleweary appearance of his clothes. Nathaniel wondered if the Lord Castoden would even remember him from Thunderton. He also wondered if Loter was known to Lord Castoden, as it would be important to prove they were survivors from the wall quickly. |

((James Castoden and Loter Arthious knows each others right? I believe they do so I'll move on)) Loter stepped in front of the group and nodded respectfully to James. "Lord Castoden, I believe we are the only few survivors of the Great Fall which fell early yesterday morning. The forces of the Defiled Kingdom may be hot on our trail, and we also spotted something we thought was drakes as we moved through the Pass. They may be here anytime." |

James cocked an eyebrow at the man who had so suddenly spoken. “Thank you for the information, sir, but you need to calm down and take everything slowly. If you would first please introduce yourself. You look familiar,” said James, and turning to a man in bloodstained light-blue robes said, “As do you, although I cannot place where I remember you from. I know you both from the White War, but that was a hectic time and it all seems so long ago now.” |

((Loter was not part of the White War. I figured you should know him from before that but okay)) "My name is Loter Arthious," Loter said, "You don't remember me from the White War, I did not fight there. But you might remember me from the short time you spent in Ataya before leaving." |

James nodded and said, "Yes, yes, I remember. Please, follow me." He turned and began to walk back towards his tent. Darnil opened the flap and allowed the men inside the spacious tent. James sat down and said, "Please forgive me, I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just very tired." However, shaking his head he said, "What am I thinking? You all are fleeing from Drathmor's forces. Darnil, tell one of the men to get these men some chairs." "Aye, Milord," said Darnil. "Shouldn't be long," said James, and true to his word within several minutes chairs had arrived at the tent for the beleaguered men. Once they had been seated, James asked, "So, you survived the assault on the Great Wall?" |

Vardakh had dismounted from his drake. He was silently stalking through the Kuren pass; his crimson robes flowing in the darkness. His horned helmet was a fiersome sight, yet though his face was enshrouded in darkness his cold blue eyes were clearly visible. |

"It was a massacre, and we might consider ourself lucky," Loter said. "Some more than others," he added with a short glance towards Nathaniel. "The Great Wall itself stood little chance. It's actually wierd that the enemy did not caught up with us." |

Nathaniel nodded in agreement "Yes, I would have thought they would push their advantage while they had momentum. But perhaps the traps you set off did enough damage to their forces to slow them down." |
