Mordus sat awkwardly in the saddle and clutched his bleeding arm gingerly. As Draicha swooped away from the battlefield and made a turn toward the east, toward Ataya; he could feel no sense of defeat or dismay. Try as he did there was nothing. He let go of the bleeding arm and relaxed his posture, feeling the pain less and less the more he thought of it, until it had vanished completely. The arm merely felt cold. He managed a small, disturbing smile as he thought of the days events and grabbed the reighns confidently. --Leaves Pass of Kuren-- --Enters Ataya-- |

((So are we just to assume the army makes it back all the way to Ataya then? Just wondering)) Mistrandar was nearly at the bottom of the valley now, having walked all the way back where he had sprinted up. Once again he spoke through a magical link to Lathaon. "My lord, I don't know if James and his knights are still fighting but I think I just saw Mordus falling back with the army towards Ataya." |

Moarbrek moved back through the ranks, towards the large blockade of rubble that separated his army. Raising his hand, he launched a sinister flare of magic into the air, signalling to Vorr. The Lich Lord looked at the wall of rocks; this would not stop the advance of the Master's armies for long. |

"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil. "It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil. One of the Last Guardians. Suck it. | |

"I don't have as much strength in me after that fight, Mistrandar," Lathaon explained. "I will scout the surrounding area for now to find anything that could be used to our advantage, and when I return, perhaps I will have fully recovered." |

"You better hurry," Mistrandar said before cutting off the link, watching the magical fire which suddenly scorched the sky. |

Vardakh knew that for each moment he waste,d moe pressure would be put on his forces. More time would be granted for the Wieelsnaders to escape, so he took matters in to his own hands. Wielding the Sword of Mkel, he leapt forward and brutally attacked James. He swung his blade in an arc, which James did well to defend. He then swung for the young man's head, but his opponent ducked and rolled away. |

James came up out of the roll to the right and slightly behind Vardakh and swung around to the left with his blade. His opponent was too slow to respond to the quick strike, and the powerful blade cut into the demon lord. The cut was deep, but to his surprise James was unable to make it pass all the way through Vardakh's leg. Nonetheless, it was a devastating blow, and James yanked the sword out, came to his feat, and assumed a defensive stance once again. |

Vardakh was unfazed by the wound. It would heal in a small matter of time, and he had suffered far greater pains by the sword previously. He saw James take a high guard, and responded with a low swing of his shortsword. James blocked with ease, but Vardakh swung his free hand and connected with the side of Weisslander's face. The punch forced James back, time enough for Vardakh to recover the Sword of Mkel which he had temporarily discarded. |

James's face stung as he recovered, and he put his gloved hand to his face. Upon drawing it back, he saw blood on his glove and gripped his sword more tightly. The creature before him seemed to be recovering quickly from his wound, so James assumed a new position, one that would still force Vardakh to come to him, but which would allow James to coutnerattack quickly. "Come, demon," James taunted. |

Vardakh laughed. "No, Weisslander, you will come to me!" Vardakh replied in confident fashion. He raised his hand and held it in the direction of the Lord Castoden. Vardakh closed his eyes and stood in deep thought and concentration. The air around him when cold as he opened his eyelids to reveal his eyes; as ice-cold as ever. Suddenly, James began to move forward. Not freely, but his legs battled on, battled on against his mind. Against his will, the Lord Castoden was moving towards Vardakh. But James was too strong for Vardakh to control. He possessed a strong will, and would take far greater power to seize complete control. Knowing he would soon be drained of his energies, Vardakh took the opportunity. James was fazed, confused at what was happening. Vardakh suddenly released control fot he man and sprung forward. He launched a salvo of deadly attacks, but he could not win the fight. He was almost completely drained of his power. He had to gather his focus and unleash one last attack, one last attack before he must flee. |

Thought he was dazed, James was somehow able to block Vardakh's sudden onslaught of attacks, and fought on with a strength he did not know he had. However, he could see that Vardakh was getting desperate with his attacks and struggled to keep fighting though he was losing strength quickly. Suddenly, Vardakh made a misstep, a lunging attack that James knocked aside, and the demon lord found his body undefended. James did not stop his sword, instead using the momentum from the parry to swing back around. The sword bit into Vardakh's neck, and in a scene that reminded James too much of the Battle of Villiath, Vardakh's head flew free of its shoulders and landed in the dirt. The body wavered there for a moment before falling forwards at James's feet. |

A dense fog immediately covered the surrounding area. The soldiers of the Weissland were completely blind and deaf to what was about to happen. The familiar, biting cold wind that had swept the battlefield earlier that hour returned; this time its bitterness far greater. That was when the voice could be heard to none other than James Castoden. First of all the laugh, then the cold, emotionless voice of Vardakh. "We will meet again, Castoden. In time," the voice trailed off, and the fog retracted. [[Leaving Mountains of Kuren]] |

For a moment, everyone around James stood stunned, and James raised his sword in defiance against the Undead horde that still surrounded them. He was breathing heavily, and the fight against Vardakh had taken a lot out of him, and now he was ready for death. "We are with you, Milord," said Peloron quietly, stepping up next to James. "For Weissland." |

Moarbrek turned to see the deffiant Lord Castoden still standing. The boy had defeated Vardakh, and that was impressive. The Lich Lord advanced towards the Weisslanders. "You have beaten Vardakh, but it matters not. The Dark Lord of Omens will return. You, however, will not leave here alive!" Moarbrek drew his sword and lunged forward, but was suddenly struck by a great shockwave, as were the undead nearby. ----- Ruin sent another shockwave, and another, at the enemy, driving them back. He called out to James. "Castoden, there is no victory here for us! You and your forces must withdraw!" |

Nathaniel had finished off the last of the undead on the north side of the formation of knights a while ago and had been resting until Castoden finished with the demon. Seeing the impressive warrior sending massive shockwaves of energy at Moarbrek and his minions was urging enough for Nathaniel to action. He stood up and shouted to the knights "You heard the man, get moving. The path behind us is clear!" |

"But for how long?" asked Peloron, wheeling around to face the man. "The Undead will surely follow close behind, despite Ruin's help." He turned to James and said, "Milord, my knights and I will stay and hold them off...you need to escape." James shook his head. "No, we all stay or we all go." "Milord!" protested Peloron. "Peloron!" snapped James. Suddenly, a bright white light erupted from the side of the moutnain and one of the knights yelled, "Look!" From a hole in the mountain came several men and women dressed in white robes and surrounded by a white light, and for several moments all were stunned in amazement and confusion. |

The cool air felt refreshing. Air was supposed to be thinner, higher up, but it felt somehow very pure this far away from the stench of blood and death. Lathaon looked down at the mountainous passage below him and kept mental note of what appeared to be the best route. |

Without warning, the men and women in white began blasting beams of blindingly-white energy at the undead. To James's amazement, when the beams faded, the undead who had been in their path were not torn apart or damaged, but were completely gone, disintegrated. "Milord Castoden!" shouted one of the robed men. "Take your men and run! We shall hold them! They cannot harm us here!" "Milord, now is our chance!" screamed Peloron. "We go now!" He grabbed James, who nodded and shouted, "Men of Weissland, fall back!" The knights turned and retreated quickly down the pass away from the one-sided battle raging behind them. |

Mistrandar was moving quickly through the mountain pass. He reached the end of it when he began hearing the sound of cavalry behind him. He turned around and prepared himself. If it was undead forces he would have to fight, or in some way hide himself. ((I forgot about Nathaniel (Gorfang), so I'll wait for his action instead of saying I'll see your men already)) |
