Mistrandar saw what was happening and raised his arms from the bottom from the portruding rock in the side of the valley. His hands flashed once more and streaks of lightning hit the foe that was launching himself against Lathaon, smashing into the person or creature or whatever it was. It was a weak strike, but only enough to disturb the attack against Lathaon so the archmage of Weissland could get more time. |

Chaos reighned supreme all around as Mordus fought on with the Dark Disciple, trading blow after tenacious blow with the creatures scythe arm. The undead parted in a wide circle to allow the Disciple to fight unhindered. Mordus only hoped they would not fall upon him in the midst of his act of vengance, cutting it short. The Disciple was good. Far more skilled than he had anticipated from their meeting atop Thunder Mountain. There was a disconcerting ease at which the creaure fought on, whilst Mordus grew weary of repeated parries and feints. For a split second he judged a blow incorrectly and lunged sideways to compensate. He rolled over onto one knee in a kneeling position, spear ready infront. A trickle of red, hot wetness seeped through his black tunic at the arm through a deep cut. His pride suffered as he took in the moment and made a quick decision. The Disciple rushed at him in a gliding motion, scythe raised high. Mordus exerted a large effort and flung a dark blast at the attacker whilst emmiting an amplified screech. The Disciple was flung back to the ground unceremoniously and Draicha came swooping down at Mordus. He frowned in dismay and spoke: "Do not drink in your victory Disciple. Your end has only just begun." Reaching out a hand at the passing drake as he finnished he was borne away toward the Weissland lines; slumped from excertion and face caked in sweat and grime. |

((*Facepalm*! Big time! ))Lathaon did not question the aid he had recieved. He raised his dagger. Moarbrek had turned the other way in mid-air, and rather than bringing his sword down on the archmage, he ended up crashing into him. Both tumbled from Lathaon's eagle. Lathaon made a weak shield below him, not a bubble but a translucent disk. He got up and looked at his foe, across the suspended arena, who was quicker to get to his feet. The birds, unable to come close without incinerating their creator, descended to terrorise the forces below. Lathaon uttered the words to another spell, aware that he had used a lot of energy. The blade of his dagger increased in length and strength until he was confident that he could hold it and that it would not shatter under the force of his enemy's weapon. |

Mistrandar realized there was nothing more he could do for Lathaon. The Lord of Weissland fought his own battle now against this deadly foe. He turned his attention towards the bottom of the valley where the undead left on this side of the blocked valley had pulled back. They still surrounded the knights of Weissland though, but they seemed to have their attention turned inwards towards their leader James Castoden who again had his attention a single foe before him. |

Moarbrek held his weapon before him. "Your time has come, Archmage. You shall share the fate of your land; death." The Lich Lord lunged forth, bringing his blade crashing down atop Lathaon's weapon. The elf's legs buckled under the impressive strength of Moarbrek, but he was quick to roll aside, avoiding what would have been a killing-blow from the deathly general. As the elf rose, Moarbrek spun round, again striking his massive sword against the Archmage's blade. Lathaon held this time, but in melee combat, he was no match for Moarbrek. ----- Xalis'Kan watched as Mordus disappeared into the skies. He smiled darkly before launching himself into the air. He spotted the Weissland knights, all but the last of the defenders. The Fallen Angel made his way quickly towards their line, and he could see that the other Dark Disciples were following suit. ----- From the skies above, Ruin had watched the battle unfold for a time. Now, he chose to strike. A thunderous roar filled the air as the Dragon Lord brought his mount quickly towards the undead surrounding the knights of Weissland. The dragon flew low, bringing her claws and teeth deep into the enemy. As she made her pass, Ruin raised his hands and unleashed a terrible shockwave of power that shattered a large number of skeletal terrors. |

Lathaon stepped back and let a section of the disk between him and his enemy fall away. "Before death, there must be life. Darkness must hide from light to survive. Light fears darkness but is ultimately stronger," Lathaon said. "I do not fear you, nor your master, nor death." Lathaon stretched out his staff-bearing hand and let healing magic flow through and around it. It shone with a soft white light. "Have you ever truly lived?" he said, restoring the platform. "Come and taste the power of life." |

Moarbrek held the gaze of the Archmage for a time, before unleashing a roar of a battle cry and lunging forward. But Lathaon was quick; the light around his staff shone ever stronger, and Moarbrek was struck full-force by the divine energy. The Lich Lord thrashed and howled as the light seared his form and hurled him back, casting him off the disk. As he fell, Moarbrek felt only failure. Yet the Lich Lord knew; where he had failed, his Master would succeed. |

Lathaon sighed. He had know way of knowing if the creature was dead or simply wounded and weakened. He walked to the edge of the disk. The sword became a dagger again. Naxtiaa's crystal had faded, and the archmage did not have enough left in him to maintain his fiery birds. The flames from one grew dim and short, and then it was extinguished. Another made a final sweep through the enemy lines and exploded. The fire on the ground would be trampled out quickly. The last wheeled around near the knights and laid many of the fallen soldiers to a permanent rest before fading away to nothing. The last eagle was still nearby, flying overhead. Neither eagle nor rider had abandoned their leader. ((About the whole undead thing, perhaps we could seek a middle ground on this. Perhaps the undead could be repaired, regenerated, or something, if the damage was not too great. I'm thinking if you crush their skull, decapitate them, hack them apart too much to undo, or burn them, then that would not be possible. Also "healed" undead would be weaker than they were. What think you?)) |

Nathaniel saw so much unfold around him, death and destruction, duels between monsters and heroes, the pass collapsing. He thought to himself, the world truly has gone mad. But even as the knights seemed to stand and watch the tense moments between their Lord and the demon, Nathaniel wasted little time and no over-exertion cleaving his way into the undead which still swarmed around the knights. He hacked down, then left, shearing two more skeletons into piles of bone. The sword flared bright red with each strike, and now more than ever he could hear the impact of the blade like raw magical energy bursting and sparking, like lightning in a sealed vault. |

((Sounds fair enough to me.)) As Moarbrek fell, one of the undead eagles swooped down, allowing the Lich Lord to land upon its back. Moarbrek was quick to set his mount down, close to the lines of the Weissland knights. He made his way through the lines until he came across Vardakh battling a young warrior. At first, he considered killing the boy, but then chose to stand and observe. A clearing had been made for this duel, and Moarbrek respected that. |

Vardakh smiled. He drew the Sword of Mkel and swung it viciously in an arc before taking a high guard. He edged towards James, and which each step he took forward, the Lord Castoden stepped backwards. Around them, the Weissland soldiers were backing away, and had now emcompassed the two warriors. |

((In case you haven't been reading, James keeps stepping towards Vardakh. Please don't take my character and make him do the complete opposite of what he's been doing, because you're kinda killing the message I'm sending across.)) James took another step towards the demon and then, in an instant, shouted out and lunged. Vardakh easily parried the first, overzealous strike, but James continued to attack, forcing his opponent onto the defensive. |

Vardakh brought his blade close to his chest as he parried James' second attack. He took a step forward and bent his knee as he put his full force behind the next parry. The Lord Castoden had viciously swung in the Dark Knight's direction, and Vardakh did well to defend himself. The martial prowess of his opponent was second-to-none, and James was vastly superior with the speed of his attacks, despite the fact Vardakh was a swift, elegant swordsman himself. On the other hand, Vardakh possessed a greater build and a larger reserve of power. The fascinating combat took another dimension as Vardakh went on the offensive. The Dark Knight counter-attacked immediately and almost caught his foe by surprise, but James was composed, focused, and his reactions instant. Vardakh followed through with a powerful jab, but the Lord Castoden stepped aside and kicked out at his opponent. Vardakh was felled for a moment, but resumed his attacking onsalught. He hacked horizontally in James' direction, with the Lord Castoden being forced back due to the immense force behind the attack. But he was holding his own as Vardakh's swipes forced James back momentarilly. Vardakh swept for James' head, but the man stepped aside and as the Dark Knight followed through his attack, James took his opportunity. In a display of great swordsmanship, he doged the attack and cut at Vardakh's thigh. Blood ran freely from the open wound as Vardakh roared with agony. However, to James' disbelief, the Demon Lord's cut immediately healed itself. Vardakh lost a small part of his life essence for every wound he suffered, and his challenge with Ruin had left him much weaker than usual. Vardakh and James engaged in a sword-lock, as he began casuak conversation; arrogance and ignorance personified in his mocking tone. "Not bad, for a mortal. But consider yourself fortunate I am not whole, Castoden, for if I were, you would be begging for mercy upon your knees!" the Dark Knight announced. |
