Moarbrek saw Lathaon's spell, and he saw the return of his own magic. Raising his hand, he stopped it easily, the magic flowing back into his body.

The dragon angled down, dropping out of the thick haze Lathaon created, and striking swiftly against another eagle and its riders. Once more, the creature was snapped-up by the dragon's gaping jaws.

Moarbrek thrust his hand into the air, speaking dark spells. Sickly, green energy crackled and surged within the belly of the dragon. In the next instant, two forms burst out of the inside of the horrific beast; undead eagles. The creatures had lost very little of the speed and agility they had possessed in life.

The Lich Lord leapt from the dragon, landing upon the back of one of his newly-created undead eagles. He took the creature high and avoided Lathaon's haze. Calling upon his magic once more, Moarbrek brought thick clouds down about them, cloaking the movements of both himself, his new mount and the dragon which still moved below, giving chase to another eagle.

"It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil.

Vardakh's headless body froze, as if bound my some spell. Whilst the laws of magic would suggest otherwise, the body lay motionless. Suddenly, a pale yellow light erupted from the torso, and a scream of immense pain could be heard. The magics of the Force had attached Vardakh's head back onto the body, which was now back on its feet. Inhaling deeply, he took a moment to recall his surroundings. Remembering his duel with Ruin, the Dark Lord of Omens laughed menacingly as he approached the Weissland shield wall. With an immense display of power, he cut through the shields of two Weisslanders, before felling a third with a swipe from his shortsword. As the Weisslanders approached, Vardakh held out his right hand. The Weisslanders moved no further; trapped by some mystical entity.

"Where is the Lord Castoden? My blade be begging to taste his flesh!" Vardakh challenged.

Mistrandar continued to pour streaks of powerful lightning into the mountain sides, and bigger and bigger boulders fell down unto the undead horse.

He concentrated, though smiled as he knew the valley would be blocked in short time. It would make escape for the Weisslanders much easier.

As the demon lord spoke, the fighting suddenly stopped. The undead soldiers backed away, and the Weisslander knights, now just over a hundred in number, stood bewildered, not understanding what exactly what was going on.

James, however, knew exactly what was happening. "I am here," he said, stepping forward. "What do you want?"

Lathaon realised he had made a mistake, and - using his magic to increase his voice, bellowed "To me!"

Four of the remaining five other eagles wheeled around and joined him, assuming the same formation they had left Ataya in.

"The battle below is not going well. We are here to kill, not to be delayed. Let's take the fight to them."

He shifted the haze to suit his new location, then led the eagles further down. He saw a necromancer raising the fallen soldiers of Weissland in the land they had lost. The archers needed no command.

Lathaon created a small magnetic field, centred a few metres above the ground near the frontline. Weapons, armour and torn off skeletal limbs were drawn there and then continued on their path as the archmage abandoned the spell. He turned back, to see if his previous foe was pursuing.

Vardakh smiled, baring a putrid set of fangs. His cold blue eyes gleamed a deathly glow as he saw James Castoden making his way towards him. His eyes focused on his prey, he watched as the Weisslander general edged towards the Demon Lord. From beneath his helmet, a muffled laugh could be heard. Vardakh reached for his helmet and pulled it from his head.

((Do the Weisslanders want the Pass to be sealed-off?))

Moarbrek watched Lathaon drop. Instantly, he followed. As his undead mount moved lower and lower, the Lich Lord held forth his palm. Dark energies surged there, reacting with the undead dragon. The beast was torn apart in a matter of seconds and its bones and flesh rushed quickly through the air, towards the Archmage. There, only a few feet above, the dragon reformed, just as Lathaon turned to inspect the situation above.

The mighty dragon clamped its jaws down atop another eagle and its riders. As it did this, Moarbrek, who had become closer, blasted an archer from atop an eagle. His sword was held ready as he made his charge.

((If it will delay or stop Drathmor's forces, it would probably be good.))

As the demon lord pulled off his helmet, revealing his face, James took a step back in shock. "Almirith?" he asked in horror.

Lathaon stood up, irritated, ignoring the fall if he lost his balance. He let the haze before him shift until it became a thin wall in front of him, many times more rigid. He cast another spell, and tendrils of dark magic wrapped themselves tight around the dragon's jaw in a moment, enveloping its neck soon after. The archmage watched Moarbrek, waiting to see what he would do - or for the coils to bring down the dragon. He was not quite sure whether it would sever the head, or paralyse it's wings and send it crashing down to the ground.

((Not sure what you mean.))

Mistrandar let go off the magic since. The power of gravity itself would do the rest of the job he thought, as more and more undeads were crushed by the huge boulders. Raising them would be more difficult and time consuming than raising other corpses, since the corpses hit by the rocks were splintered into dozens smaller fragments. The deeper part of the pass was already blocked.

Mistrandar called out into the sky, his voice increased by magic crying out to both Lathaon and James. "Lord Thaendil! Lord Castoden! The Pass is blocked. Time has been bought!"

((I figured he meant raising the dead from Weissland. I was also under the impression that undead would only be able to be raised once. Well, without combining bits of undead into something else like what Moarbrek did with the dragon thing.))

As the demon lord pulled off his helmet, revealing his face, James took a step back in shock. "Almirith?" he asked in horror.

Vardakh laughed. The roar-like sound that escaped his mouth forced the Weisslanders back as his horrific show of pleasure echoed across the battlefield. The laugh died down and became a weak smile. Vardakh's eyes glinted as he spoke the words.
"No, Lord Castoden," he began. "I am not Almirith Damorath. I am Vardakh of the Defiled Kingdom. This disgusting piece of meat you set your eyes upon is not my true self, for I am of the spirit world, young mortal."
Vardakh set his eyes on James, staring straight at the Lord Castoden. "But in answer to your earlier question, what I want of you is your head!"

((My view is that an undead can be raised time and again until the necromancer who originally animated it is slain.))

Moarbrek watched as Lathaon's magic snared the dragon and began to work its way around the beast. The Lich Lord smiled as he raised his hand, again invoking his magic. The dragon contorted and roared before suddenly erupting. Bones and flesh flew in all directions and the shockwave created by the destruction was more than enough to knock the eagles from the sky. As they fell to the ground, the majority of the riders were thrown off. There were a few that managed to hold on.

Again, Moarbrek brought his mount down towards the eagles. Lathaon was so close; Moarbrek knew that the Archmage must die.

((I thought the same as Gorfang, and I believe I have said in the past that undead could be raised only once. Anyway, moving on...))

((I fail to see how you can "knock the eagles out of the sky" with a shockwave, without knocking my character off his eagle, seeing as though he was stood up  ))

Lathaon's wall protected him sufficiently, whilst blunting it for those near him. The eagles, large creatures themselves, recovered from the impact and some caught their riders with their talons. They retreated with the army of Weissland, leaving Lathaon alone.

Now I need not worry about blasting or protecting my men, he thought, gripping Naxtiaa with both hands. He focused and brought enough magic coursing through him and his staff to strain even his mind. His wall of air burst into flame and changed shape to fuse with his next spell. He let the raw power build up for a moment and then unleashed it in an explosion, sending fragments of searing energy raining down below... but the core of the blast did not grow and expire, it morphed into three massive birds of fire, easily the combined size of the undead dragon.

((I said that some of the riders clung to their mounts, and that the majority fell off. I left the option open to you; if you want to still be on your eagle, then you can, or you can be one of the riders that are falling. And yes, I did just blow up the dragon. What's confusing about that?))

((Moarbrek is riding an undead eagle.))

The Lich Lord was dazed for a moment by Lathaon's impressive power. It would seem he had underestimated the power of his foe.

Directing the undead eagles, Moarbrek made another charge. The fiery birds created by Lathaon moved through the air, yet he was unsure what they would do.

The undead eagle drew closer and closer to the Archmage until Moarbrek threw himself from his mount, heading straight for Lathaon, sword held high, ready to strike.
