The Necromancer Lord, Daemmion Eldwyn, walked into the great library of the Mystic Tower. Grattig, the orc warlord that Daemmion had taken as his general, was with him. Daemmion's robes were a bright shade of grey, lined with silver, as was his tall collar that rose to the lobes of his ears. His face showed him to be in his late thirties, as did his shoulder-length brown hair. In truth, he was over five hundred years old. His staff was a simple stick, though it had been carved to better suit his purposes. The only thing that would even suggest he was a necromaner was the skull that was tethered to the end of his staff by a half-foot of rope. His eyes were white, no pupil or iris. He possessed the same soul vision as Shaellana. "Such a waste." said Daemmion, casting away the burnt remains of a tome. His voice was calm and almost soothing. "Drathmor was a fool to destroy anything in this place. He thought he knew it all, but this tower holds more magical knowledge than even he possessed." "What should we do?" asked Grattig, his voice revealing the limited intelligence of his race. "Search this place. Any books that are in good enough condition to be read I want you to gather. We'll take it all back to Aelendak." "But master, what about this city? Ataya! It's the capital, and nobodies 'ere. Could make this your stronghold." Daemmion turned to his general, an almost sympathetic look on his face. "Poor, simple orc. Ataya was Weissland's capital, but it's in ruins. It's no good to me, not like this. Besides, I'm sure Weissland will send soldiers down here eventually. And we do not yet have the strength to hold such a large city. No, for now, we will keep and hold our territory to the east. It is not yet time for expansion." Daemmion had taken the lands east of Ataya as his own, the lands Narak'Phel conquered. He held Aelendak and Odelen. He held everything on that stretch of land, up to the bridges, which he had fortified. His army was compromised primarily of orcs, as well as all the other living soldiers that Drathmor had left behind when he moved north to Asulien. At the moment, he stood in Ataya with a small force of a hundred orcs. They were here to salvage what they could from the tower. Grattig kicked a corpse. "What about all these bodies? Ain't no Weisslander that did this." "No, it wasn't. It was some kind of demon. The monster's stench still hangs about this place. Just one more reason why I have no intention of staying here, Grattig. The demon is gone for now, but it could come back." He walked over to an intact tome and picked it up. "Have your men gather the books. Without damaging them. I want to be on my way sooner rather than later." |

"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil. "It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil. One of the Last Guardians. Suck it. | |

Daemmion stood outside the Mystic Tower, looking down on the remnants of Ataya before him. Drathmor's forces had destroyed much of the city; very few buildings were still intact. Grattig and his orcs had finished loading all the tomes they could find into a large cart. Daemmion walked along the side of the cart, running his fingers over the books. "So many spells, so much knowledge. This is the true power." he said. "What about the Weisslanders? They is going to be pretty mad that you took all their books." asked Grattig dimly. "They have more pressing matters that the whereabouts of spell books. Besides, they'll assume that Drathmor destroyed the books. There is no reason for them to know that I even exist. Now come. We must return to Aelendak and prepare the soldiers. Weisslanders will be back down here eventually, and I don't plan on being vulnerable when they do." --Leaving Ataya-- --Entering Alenedak-- |

--Entering from Asulien-- James Castoden and his column of Royal Guardsmen rode into the Weissland Army camp on the outskirts of Ataya. He was already impressed by what he saw; the soldiers and many civilians with them were hard at work repairing the damage that had been done to the city during the war. The city was not as bad off as some others, which had been completely razed, and while James knew there would be a long road of work ahead for these people here, Ataya would become a great city once more. As they rode through the camp, soldiers stopped what they were doing and bowed in respect for the King, and James saw a familiar man in well-made plate armor walking towards him with a smile. James stopped his horse and dismounted before walking towards the man and embracing him. "Aldron," said James. "My Liege," said Aldron. "I'm impressed with your work here so far," said James. "Thank you, my liege," said Aldron. "The men are working hard." |

Daemmion stood on a hill, looking down on Ataya. He had travelled here with a small group of orcs to sweep the city again, but it seemed that the Weisslanders had beaten him to it. "Pathetic." He said, shaking his head. "My Lord?" asked an orc. "They are trying to salvage that which is lost. There is no purpose in their work, but still they try and push forward. If they do not perish by my hand, then I feel that this... greater force will claim them." Again, the orcs looked at him with quetioning glance. Daemmion sighed. "Forgive me, my minions. Sometimes I forget that you do not see things as I do. I have sensed... something, though I cannot pinpoint what. This feeling has stayed with me since the death of our former master. Things are going to change. Weissland is on a dark path, and we must move carefully to avoid it." He was wrapped in a modest, brown cloak. His staff was held before him and he leaned upon it. "Let us return to our base. It seems that war has reached our realm sooner than I would have liked." |

"I received your letter," said James, and suddenly things turned serious. "Yes, Milord," said Aldron. "There is a large encampment to the east, Orcs and Undead." "Undead?" asked James in surprise. "We believe they may be under the power of a Necromancer, perhaps one that survived the war or broke from Drathmor's banner," said Aldron. James nodded. "Have you encountered any of his forces in combat?" "No," said Aldron. "Although we have done preliminary scouting of his defenses; if you would follow me." Aldron turned and led James through the camp to a wide blue tent, inside of which was, among many other things that proved this to be Aldron's command tent, a large table with a map of Ataya and the surrounding area on it. "Aelendak," said Aldron. "That is where he has set up his base." He pointed to a set of bridges crossing over to the city and said, "These bridges are fortified and guarded by Orcs, and they are erecting towers to overwatch them. As for the city itself, it has strong defenses on the western side, and we estimate perhaps forty or fifty thousand Orcs and Undead there." |

((The bridges don't cross directly to the city, just to the section of land that the city is on. There's another city there too. I can't remember the name, but check the map and you'll see.)) |

James stared intently at the map. "What are you thinking, my Liege?" asked Aldron. "How many men do you have here, Aldron?" asked James. "Twenty thousand?" "Yes, my Liege," said Aldron. James nodded. "I will need three thousand men." "What are you thinking, my Liege?" asked Aldron. "We will take the city by storm," said James. |

The army assembled quickly, and James, his Royal Guards, and three thousand men immediately began to march north. "Where are they going?" some of the men asked. "The King has business he needs to attend to," said Aldron to his men. "With three thousand of our soldiers?" asked one of them. "And some of our best? Right before we are about to fight?" "Do not question the King's judgment," said Aldron. "I do not. And do not question your abilities. You are men of Weissland; more than enough for a mindless rabble of Orcs and Undead. Sound the advance." Along the line, bugle and trumpet calls went up, and the massive column marched out of Ataya, heading for the bridges. |

--Enters from Valoruin-- Mordain entered the city at a slow pace. The effects of that terrible battle were still clear, yet people were working hard to restore it. Some averted their eyes as he passed, presumably not wanting to draw his attention. "You there!" he said to a guard. "Who is in command here?" "Lord Aldron, sir." "Take us to him." |

Lord Aldron was near the center of the city, in a large building that was now serving as the focal point for the rebuilding and defense of the south. As Mordain and Nathaniel were led into the building, Aldron turned away from what he was doing and walked to meet them. "Lord Mordain, Drakkon," said Aldron with a nod to each of them in turn. "How can I help you?" |

"As well as can be expected," said Aldron. "The city took great damage. It will likely be years, perhaps a decade, before it can be restored fully, but people should be able to begin returning soon. We have already had many come back to help with the rebuilding, which is helpful and encouraging. People are moving on." |

Nathaniel looked around at the building they were in, watching people moving about or talking back and forth, busy with their work. Nathaniel thought about Ataya as he remembered it. Almost eight years had gone by since he was last here, when he received permission to leave from mage lord Boralays and went off to hunt his brother's killer. But there was something more important he had to do here in Ataya now, something for the future. |

"Come then, Nathaniel. We have work to do." Mordain led his small group through the city towards the Mystic Tower. He looked up at it as they approached, seeing a shadow of what it had once been. Drathmor's armies had swept through Ataya without a care and ravaged everything in their path. Even the once-majestic tower had not been spared. "To see the symbol of our order so scarred is a terrible thing." he said as they neared the tower. |
