Mordus had to jump to the ground and roll asside ungraciously to avoid being hit by the maddened creature. Brae and Marr did the same but regained composure before Mordus had gotten up, exchanging quick blows with the Banshee. Mordus lifted himself up from the cobbled street and patiently withdrew his sleeves, much more annoyed and antagonistic than before. Couldn't you conduct war anywhere without meeting a Disciple anymore? Seemingly not. He sighed heavily and streatched his stiff shoulders, feeling the result of his bloody toil in the dundgeon. The finesse of close combat seemed far to laboured and pointless to him at that point and he witheld the impulse to conjour some weapon.

He spared the pleasanties and started hurling jets of fire with quick words at the melee, somewhat too regardless of the proximity to Brae and Marr. He'd burn the hair off the wailing whore he mused to himself.
Glory is fleeting, but obscurity lasts for eternity.

As the Weisslanders under James fell back, the undead gathered again and launched another assault. "Hold fast!" yelled James as the undead came, and the men braced themselves, with those in the back spreading their feet wide so as to support those in front. The undead came, and the Weisslanders levelled their spears, impaling many of the enemy upon them. Some men lost their spears, but were handed new ones from their comrades behind, who subsequently drew swords. Whenever a man fell, his place was quickly filled by another soldier. They were disciplined and fighting as a coherent unit, even though they were from a diverse mix of regiments. They were all Weisslanders, and they knew their fate depended on one another. They beat the undead back and continued their retreat.

Iar'dol screamed and rose into the air, moving with unnatural speed to avoid the fire thrown by the cloaked man before her. She extended her arm towards him and released a terrible shriek. This terrible sound, which sent the two warriors beneath her to their knees, also conjured a shockwave that flew towards the cloaked man, splitting the ground as it passed. The man was able to avoid the attack, barely.

The Banshee Queen rushed towards him, hoping to finish him quickly.
"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil.

"It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil.

A white-coloured beam of pure energy tore into the Banshee Queen from further behind Mordus. It crashed into the Disciple and forced it backwards, though it was impossible to see if it truly did any harm. But without doubt, it did at least cause the creature pain.

Boralays closed his eyes, quickly readying another spell. He seemed to be in some kind of trance. He had to help them, he understood, do what he could do.

The Banshee Queen shrieked and howled as the healing magic tore into her. Once the blast was gone, she lowered herself and sought her attacker. She saw the man standing furhter behind her cloaked foe. With a wave of her hand, she sent a shockwave around her to cast aside her foes before rushing straight towards this new attacker.

Boralays sensed the Banshee coming for him and began to panic.

No his mind screamed to him. Don't loose it now.

His spell words faltered as the enemy was milliseconds away, and so as a last resort and out of desperation he changed the spell words. Between himself and the Banshee the very air exploded in light, and a wave of energy was released on every side. The explosion tore pieces of the masonry on the buildings on every side, and tossed Boralays into the air and several feet backwards.

Iar'Dol was hit full-force by the mighty spell, having only been a few feet away from the mage when he unleashed it. She was sent flying back as the magic tore into her. Landing on the ground, she found herself far weaker than she would have expected. Slowly, she raised her hand before her face. Her very form was wavering and raw power seeped from her torn and broken flesh.

As a shadow fell over her, she looked up. She saw the big man who had engaged her in melee combat. And then he swung his axe...

-----

Marr's axe cut the head of the Disciple clean off her body. As the creature died, her body faded away to nothing. Marr hurried up the street, searching for Boralays.

Boralays lay on the ground and instantly knew something was wrong. His whole back ached, and he could feel his own blood running from his body. He tried to move, but it felt like he could not push or pull with a single muscle of his body.

He then tried to use his magic to heal himself, but it was impossible when he could not move his hands, not even his fingers. He could not move his neck to look around and saw only the towering buildings around him and the clouded sky far up. He could not... then, despite the small feeling of shame he felt, he tried to cry for help. But even his voice felt weak.

Marr found the mage in a crumpled heap on the ground. He rushed over. Blood was slowly soaking patches of his clothing. Marr kneeled down after calling Brae over.

"Boralays, can you walk?" asked Marr, and he waited for a responce.

The mage lord's usually strong voice was but a mere, shivering whisper now, "I.. I don't think I can move at all."

Marr looked at the man, knowing that if the mage did not receive help then he would die. "There is nothing I can do for you here. But I can carry you to a healer? Perhaps Lord Mordain can ease your wounds."

"No!" Boralays said. "I... might have injured my spinal cord. I should not be moved. Either a healer needs to come to me, or you should leave me."

Mordus was slightly taken aback by the suddeness of Boralays' appearance and barely had time to consider the devilishly fast form of the Banshee before it was all over. They were not without losses though. He saw the mage lying on the ground and overheard Marr speak to him. At the same time he could hear the frantic scratching of bone against stone. The undead were coming over the rubble barricade behind them.

"There is no time Marr. Either we risk further damaging him or we leave him to the ghouls." He said as he gestured with a hand at the fallen mage, who was pulled upright raggedly from the ground and hung limlpy a foot above it . The pain should have knocked him out though Mordus as he quickly called two retreating soldiers from the stream of defenders with a streatcher. He slowly placed the mage on it as the bearers held fast.

((Hmm... I'm unsure, was Boralays knocked out there or not?))

Marr looked back at the advancing enemy. They were suddenly wreathed in fire and Shaellana appeared from an alley.

"Move, quickly!" she ordered.

The soldiers carried Boralays away on the stretcher down the street, Brae, Marr, Mordus and Shaellana following quickly after.

Lathaon was constantly stepping backwards to avoid the deadly sweeping motions of the scythe. He no longer had the flaming sword, but he tried a simple spell to try and catch it off guard. A heat bolt at close range would easily knock a mortal man off his feet.

The Archmage released a burst of flame; Azack'Mor was struck off-guard by the attack. He was momentarily stunned.

Lathaon held out his staff in front of him and used his healing magic. He created a static shield around his enemy. It was thin and weak, but it surrounded the disciple.

The shield of healing power surrounded Azack'Mor and engulfed him, striking him to substancial effect. The wraith thrashed and struggled within the shield before releasing a terrible cry that dispelled Lathaon's magic.

The next few moments were so fast that the surrounding soldiers were barely able to even tell what happened. Azack'Mor surged forward and vanished before reappearing behind the Archmage. Lathaon noticed his enemy just as the wraith swung his mighty scythe. Lathaon did his best to dodge the attack, but the blade still caught his right leg, halfway up his thigh. Azack'Mor lowered himself over Lathaon once the wound sent the elf to the ground. With a barely corporeal hand, the wraith reached out and took hold of Lathaon's neck. The Archmage could feel his strength fading, and quickly, for the touch of a wraith brought only death.
