((I have actually no clue on the matter. Maybe we should just arrive at the Mystic Tower of Ataya, and no one really greeted us))

((The Mystic Tower is mostly empty at the moment, since everyone is trying to defend the city :P There will be guards there though that can direct you to the commanders.))

The eagle carrying James and Peloron touched down on top of the Mystic Tower. They climbed off and several archers ran towards the two armored men.

"Milord Castoden! Milord Galor!" shouted one of the archers as he approached. "The Enemy has been saying you are dead!"

"We are very much alive," replied James.

"That is good," said the archer, who now reached the two men. "I am Captain Nirlang, and I'm in command of the men commanding this place."

"Can you direct us to where Lathaon and the others are?" asked James.

((OK, someonecan take control of Nirlang for the answer.))

((I can then, though why won't yourself?))

"Lathaon arrived just now," Nirlang responded quickly. "He has been spotted on his eagle in the sky."

"Mordain Thaendil is leading the defense though, he is at the gates where he also has organized the command from one of the central towers."

((Because I don't know where everyone is. I said before I haven't really been reading this topic and no one ever said where Mordain was. ;) ))

"Then that is where we shall head," said James. "Thank you, Captain." Turning to Peloron, James gave the man a knowing look, one of determination and vigor, and the two of them clasped hands before quickly descending the stairs inside the tower. It was a rather long trip down to the bottom, but they traversed it as quickly as possible and emerged out of the Mystic Tower to a scene of destruction and death. Fires raged throughout the city from the bombardment and fighting, and for a moment both men were stunned. However, they shook it off and James said, "There! To the wall!" The two men began to run through the city, drawing their swords as they reached the massive southern wall upon which a fierce battle was raging. They climbed up one of the stairwells and found Mordain standing there, his eyes closed. The wall around them was mostly devoid of enemies, but James looked out across the battlefield and saw thousands upon thousands of Drathmor's forces marching towards them, and in the center a large creature with a crude apparatus on its back that James could only guess was meant to help the Enemy over the wall.

Mistrandar and Ariakas landed soon after James and Peloron. After Mistrandar received a short update from Nirlang both of them made their way to the frontline, the walls.

As they quickly moved through the now mostly abandoned city, except for the soldiers who were preparing additional defenses.

"I wonder if it's all in vain," Ariakas said to himself. Mistrandar heard him and gave him an angry look, but following that ignored him.

Mordain's eyes opened just as the undead monster reached the wall. The massive creature braced itself against the wall, waiting for the warriors around it to begin their ascent. Mordain spoke words of dark magic as he cast his power across the beast; the shadows within the crude framework on its back sprang to life. Large, dark tendrils rose out of the shadows to strike the undead as they tried to reach the wall. It was a powerful spell, but Mordain knew it would only be a matter of time before the Dark Lord dispelled it.

He saw James Castoden and turned towards him. "Lord Castoden," called Mordain as he pulled the young lord away from the battlements. "I must know, what of your army? Where is your army?"

"I lost nearly half of it, Milord," said James. "The other half is under command of Lord Aldron and is marching with all possible haste towards the city. Myself, Peloron, and his knights held off for over an hour against Moarbek's forces to ensure the army's safe withdrawal, and we ourselves were saved by these...mages...or monks...they came out of the mountainside..." James's voice trailed off.

"Two eagles came and it was demanded that James return to Ataya," said Peloron. "We did not know the city was besieged."

Mordain nodded before turning back towards the undead that were arriving on the battlements after climbing the monster. Mordain's spell was damaging, but the undead numbers were such that the tendrils could not kill them all.

"We will need your sword, James." said the Mage of Shadows as he charged the undead warriors.

An enemy made a clumsy attack, which Mordain blocked, before quickly killing the creature. He moved his sword in a sweeping arc before himself, cutting away several more foes.

At the gates, another crew for the massive ram and it was continuing its attack against the gates. By the sounds its impact was making, the gates would not last long...

"Come on, Milord!" shouted Peloron as he plunged into the fray.

James nodded and wordlessly advanced. He was silent and held his sword at the ready, slowly walking towards the Undead forces that poured onto the battlements. Weisslander soldiers were fighting bravely, but James knew they would soon be overrun if something was not done. An Undead warrior saw him, yelled, and charged. James brought his sword back and swung easily, the blade slicing through the warrior without impediment. With the first kill out of the way, James rushed forward in a fury, his blade slicing through two more Undead before he lopped the head off a third.

Nola heard the clamour behind her. Looking back, she could see a great many undead pouring onto the walls from the back of some obscene monster. Quickly she gathered four soldiers from this relatively secure part of the wall and began to head back into combat to help stem the tide. She sliced and thrust her way through two undead, before carving the legs from a third and finishing it off as the four soldiers waded into the press. She thought, That mage is on his own.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nerris desperately smashed another undead warrior down with his staff, which was covered liberally with disgusting gore by now. The soldiers here had been reduced to fighting individually but each made more kills than Nerris could hope to muster. His spells were all used up, he did not have the energy to cast more. Luckily his spell on the staff and his magical defences still held, just. He turned at the sound of scrapping and clawing to see a skeleton armed with a sword attack him. He raised his staff in a two-handed block, warding off the high strike, but then saw his mistake. His eyes went wide as the skeleton made the feignt and then pulled back and plunged it's rusty, dirty sword into his side. The expressionless skull seemed to take pleasure in the act, or so it seemed to Nerris. As the staff dropped from his hands, another undead thing swung at him with a crude cudgel, smashing it into the side of his head. The mage fell to the ground, his vision spinning sickeningly. The battle continued to rage around him, but the sounds seemed so distant, as if he were under water. He winced in pain, and blood jetted from the wound on his head in response. He tried to put his hand on his side, slow the bleeding, or try one last spell, but the words were lost to him. Never write this now, what will happen to the books? He thought as he died.

Lathaon spotted the undead siege tower as it reached the wall. Someone was attacking it with magic, but not enough, it seemed. Then there were sounds of the ground moving below. Part of the ground at the foot of the wall fell in, and then it seemed to continue like a wave along the wall. Many of the undead near the wall fell in, and when they did, they met the fire from under the rubble. Lathaon cleared the space in front of him with a jet of flame.

The undead monster suddenly lost its footing as the ground beneath its feet gave way. The Dark Lord watched as a mighty chasm appeared, damaging his siege beast and killing many of his warriors as they fell into it.

Drathmor Archon sat back in his throne, content for now to let his soldiers continue the assault as he watched the great monster climb out of the chasm and resume its position, allowing more undead to climb onto the walls.

-----

Mordain cracked one undead's chest with his staff, and the foul creature crumbled in responce. Another he felled with a quick strike of his sword before using the blade to block another attack. Mordain floored his attacker with a swing of his staff. He then slew the foe with a powerful drive of his sword.

The undead were vast in number, but they would not pass him.

And then a deep roar sounded over the battlefield, one Mordain recognised. He looked to the skies and smiled to himself.

-----

Brae stood with Marr and the majority of the defenders of the gates as they stood braced against the reinforced gates, trying as best they could to slow the attack of the ram. But they knew the gates were going to buckle, despite their efforts to prevent such a thing from happening.

Brae looked at Marr. "What if the gate falls?"

"Then lad," said Marr, "you best grow comfortable with your sins and get ready to meet the afterlife, 'cause we ain't going to be running!"

Lathaon raised his hand and conjured a blade of fire. As another ladder fell into place nearby, he slashed at the first undead, turning flesh and bone to ash, and sending it back down on top of the others. The ladder, too, fell with the touch of his flaming weapon. He began fighting his way across the wall.

((Sorry Ive been Warcrafting :D ))

Mordus frowned at the prisoner's retort and was about to speak when a mighty shudder shook the room. A strange coinsidence most certainly not. He thought for a split second and decided not to tarry.

"I beg to differ."

He punched the prisoner squarely in the jaw and stepped forward to hold him by the neck with one hand. With the other he carved the side of the man's face with a knife, deliberately taking his time to extrude every last dropplet of pain from the screaming man. He stepped back with bloodied hands and allowed him to deal with the pain; admiring the gory and ornate 'W' symbol for 'Weissland' which now scared his face.

"Perhaps this will help you remind yourself of your lost loyalties, traitor." He said with icy venom, pacing back and forth silently for several seconds whilst regaining composure.

"Truth be told none of us expect you to talk. This country had fought the undead long enough to know what to expect from its minions. Oh yes, mark my words; you are no more but a plaything in all this." He said plainly. "You are faced with
two alternatives in light of recent events: One, you tell me anything of value concerning your master and I will leave you unconcious within this cell until it is decided what judgement is to be passed on you, or two; you stay silent and I hamstring you. Your choice."

"I've already faced worse pain than you can give me. In any case, I have nothing of any worth to tell you anyway," Ithrain said quietly but defiantly. "Except of course that you're going to die - you are all going to die!"

Mordus' upper lip twitched oddly before he burst into a broad grin, not at all insincere. His eyes were slightly glazed and he looked as if he was staring through the prisoner, not at all focused on the mutilated traitor.

"Yesss...we are all, going, to die." He uttered solemnly before getting to the gruelingly carnal bussiness of cutting the tendons in Ithrain's legs.

When he came out of the cell his attire was soaked with blood at the gloved hands and dark leather cuirass. It would have been hard to spot had ones eyes no at first been drawn to the trail of blood dripping from his clothes. The Seeker guards turned a blind eye as he passed them, giving them a slight aknowledging nod as he did so.

Three forms moved through the sky with great speed. As they descended towards the battlefield, all could see them for what they were; three riders atop the backs of massive dragons.

These were three of the Dragon Lords; Aedarus, Malathos and Gor. Their dragons tore their claws through the enemy hordes as they flew over, slaying the undead with almost comical ease.

Malathos was clad in blackest robes. The robes were rimmed in a thicker material, and strange patterns adorned them. On his head, he wore a dark, metalic crown. A covering of chain mail fell down behind the crown, shielding the back of his neck and head. His weapon was a staff forged of a black-coloured metal. Atop the staff sat a fiery, red gem, set at the base of a long blade.

The Dragon Lords rose into the air before circling back down. Each Lord placed his hand on his steed's head and chanted words of power. The dragons opened their mouths and released great jets of fire onto the enemy.

James continued to fight the undead, slicing through the chest of one before spinning around and jabbing his sword backwards through the stomach of another.
