"I believe they may be benefitting more than I am from the alliance," Elandir said. "As long as the situation stays that way, I think they can be controlled, and trusted to some extent. In any case, information in my organisation tends to go in one direction only."

"Seems like that is the opposite direction of where we are standing now," Andros added with a sarcastic, though at the same time friendly, smile.

"The direction is up the chain," Elandir said "and neither of you are part of that chain at all."

"Of course," Andros said. He scratched his old, grey beard and looked first at Mordain. Then back at Elandir again, his eyes glinting.

"With these new allies of yours, can you deal with the situation in Endral? Or would you prefer to perhaps have dwarves and Order of Light soldiers drafted inot helping you?" asked Mordain, his tone passive.
"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil.

"It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil.

"I don't know their numbers, and I don't have any reliable means of finding them," Elandir said. "They will be expecting me to take action, and that is what makes things difficult. I cannot say whether or not I can deal with them."

Elandir thought for a moment. "Perhaps if I captured some of them. That way I know they are lying if they don't all say the same thing."

((That last sentence was a little bit confusing. Who is it that you're talking about there? Your "allies" or the Shattered Sword? ))

"For the time, the focus is on getting the Ataya refugees to the Land of Light. If the Shattered Sword have taken Endral, then it poses a threat to the safety of the refugees, as well as the rest of Sirth. I will send a messenger to the dwarves and secure their aid. The Order of Light will be contacted and asked to send a portion of their force to defend the refugees, and another force to bolster the strength of your army." Mordain paused, thinking over his decision. "I would ask that you proceed in whatever way you see fit, but please, do what you must to keep control of the situation. And if you should capture any of Shattered Sword, I want to be informed as soon as possible."

((I might be dumber than my character :P... I think I just insulted my self, oh bother))

Andros simply nodded, both to himself as well as the other two men.

"Are you sure that's such a good idea, Mordain?" Elandir asked. "Last I heard, Lathor was about to be attacked. If you think Lathor is less important, surely it's better to go the whole way and get everyone out of there?"

Elandir sighed. "If you ask me, I think it is better to leave the Order of the Light out of this. Many of my men will be uneasy with them around."

"But they want be uneasy about these former rivals of yours?" Andros remarked. "I think your people can handle it Elandir."

Mordus dismissed the attentions of an old apothecarian as soon as he was suitably patched up. The robed and monumentaly wise looking old man, who appart from sporting stupendusly flurishsing eyebrows possessed a squint of the eyes which only extreme age granted. He shuffled off into his store room with the linament he had been applying to Mordus' wounds, leaving him to see himself out.

Mordus disappeared once again in a cloud of shadows and cast his mind out in his incorporeal state, sensing the strange echoes of Mordain's voice within seconds.
He focused briefly and reappeared with a swooshing sound next to him.

"I trust I didn't miss anything of importance whilst gone my lords." He added casualy.

Mordain looked at Mordus. "Mordus, once I have finished here with Elandir, I will tell you what has transpired." He turned back to Elandir. "As you wish; I will keep the Order of Light away from your soldiers. They will be sent to Lathor, where an evacuation will be started. We do not have the manpower to supress Rathor at the moment, so evacuating the people is a top priority."

"Thank you, Mordain," Elandir said. "Andros, rivals are rivals for a reason. They have something in common. With a common goal, it is easier to work with them than the Order... Working with the Order would likely cause more unrest than working with the City Guard."

Andros first showed a surprised look in his face when Mordus arrived, but the surprising look changed into confusion as he turned to Mordain.

Taking another moment for thought, Mordain paused before speaking again. "However, Elandir, perhaps you would be interested in interrogating Ithrain before you depart?"

Mordus stepped forward from behind Mordain at the mention of a prisoner; cold enthusiasm in his voice as he spoke from within his almost completely concealing hood. He looked very much like a shadow with no exposed flesh but his stubbled chin and mouth.

"If I may, Mordain. I could interrogate this prisoner. I find myself out of practice as of late and we must all be wary of lapses in skill, must we not?" He turned to the others, Elandir and Andros. "You will find me suitably...imaginative."

"Yes, Mordus, I believe you would be a good choice to carry out the interrogation." Mordain did not break eye-contact with Elandir as he spoke. "The reason I captured him, Elandir, is because the Archmage's laws are clear. Those who have served Weissland, to the extent of Ithrain, are to be judged by the Archmage alone. It is not the place of you nor I to condem this man to death, despite personal feelings."
