"Who are you?" Andros asked. "And how did you end up fighting Ithrain?". The mage lord could see that the man was in pain, but he needed the answers before he helped him. |

Mordain's defences held for a time, but the shields were eventually ravaged. Ithrain's power was vast, yet uncontrolled; he had far from mastered this new, malevolent magic he sought to wield. The lightning struck Mordain when his defences were gone. He felt the power strike him hard as he was thrown back against the wall. Breathing slowly, he rose to his full height. As Ithrain launched another attack, Mordain batted it aside with his own magic. Another spell was launched by the Mage of Shadows, one which caused darkness to leap from the ground and fill Ithrain's mouth. The shadows rushed within him and he could not stop them. Anger building, he looked at Mordain and made to make an attack, but when he spoke, his words had changed. He found he could no longer speak the normal tongue, let alone the spell words. He looked at Mordain in bewilderment. Mordain brought another spell to bare; the shadows again moved, but this time they focussed on a central point; the floor beneath Ithrain's feet. When the former mage lord looked down, the shadows sprung up like serpents, though they remained attatched to the dark pool upon the floor. The coils of darkness snapped at Ithrain's limbs before coiling around his wrists and ankles. He found them to be strong as they pulled him to his knees and held him there, try as he might to struggle. Mordain walked forward. "I would see you dead, traitor, but I am bound by my cousin's law to put you in holding until such a time that he can bestow his judgement upon you. The Archmage will decide what is to become of you." He leaned closer. "But I can promise you that I will advise him to grant you a slow, painful death." |

"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil. "It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil. One of the Last Guardians. Suck it. | |

"I fought him because he could not hide his intentions from me," Elandir said. "You need not fear me; I am an ally." Ithrain couldn't do anything to struggle, so he allowed Mordain to take him away. |

Andros slowly bent down and began invoking his healing magic, pulling forth a small amulet which hung around his neck. "You did not answer both my questions," he said. "Who are you really?" |

Mordain raised his hand through the air, manipulating the shadows. Ithrain was lifted off the ground, his hands were bound tightly behind his back by the darkness and his feet were released. Mordain placed a firm hand upon the man's shoulder and led him from the room. He summoned a number of Seekers to him. "Take this traitor to the mage's interrogation chamber on the lower levels. Bind him there and gag him. Keep a high number of guards posted outside the room at all times." commanded Mordain. "And ensure that all mages are brought to the Council Chambers. I have tasks for them." The eight Seekers bowed before leading Ithrain away. Mordain returned to where he had found Ithrain battling Elandir. He found the animated Royal Guards still struggling in the tar he had created earlier. With a swing of staff and sword, he slew them both. He passed through the chamber and followed the corridor until he came across Elandir, along with the mage lord Andros. "Elandir," began Mordain, though he paused after seeing the extent of the man's wounds. "Andros, move aside." |

Andros ignored Mordain and whispered magical words in an arcane language as he placed his hands on the wound of Elandir. A blue light flared, and glowed first along his hands and fingers then passed unto Elandir. Shortly thereafter Andros rose, turned around and smiled towards Mordain. "No need," he said. Andros' healing magic was well respected in the Mystic Tower. The wounds of Elandir was completely gone, not even dry blood was left on his skin. And even as Mordain and Elandir watched the ripped clothing slowly seemed to become alive, rebuilding itself until it looked like Elandir had never been damaged at all. "So you are Elandir," Andros said. "I have heard about you of course." |

((You may want to move that post
And also, don't forget that Mordain is also highly skilled in the art of healing magic.)) Mordain leaned down, waving a hand over the areas where Elandir had been wounded and probing with magic to assess the extent of damage that remained; there was none to be found. He rose and turned briefly to Andros. "Impressive skills, mage. Strange that your powers have not been brought to my attention before." He turned back to Elandir. "Tell me, Elandir, can you shed any light upon Ithrain's betrayal?" |

Andros simply nodded with a smile of thankful appreciation to Mordain, and then turned to Elandir, interested in what the man had to say. |

Elandir thanked Andros and rose, speaking to Mordain. "I followed him after he summoned the battle mages, and approached him when he came this way. Though I don't know what he was planning to do up there; Lathaon's office is the only place of note that way, right?" Elandir said. "But I actually came here to find you, Mordain." |

--Enters from Kuren Pass-- Draicha touched down more gingerly than usual atop the flat surface of the Mystic Tower, folding her leathery wings delicatly as if struck by pain. Mordus could see no external bleeding on her as he came off the saddle and stroked her head gently, making a mental note of seeing to her bruising later after his own ailments. He shrouded himself in shadows and disappeared down through the stone of the roof, rematerialising with heaving breath in the apothecarium within the dundgeons. |

*RPing as Shaellana* Shaellana walked with Gor along the city's southern battlements. Archers were being formed-up onto the wall, cavlary was been readied at either end of the wall, and seige equipment was being brought forward to sit behind the wall, ready to fire over at the enemy. The High Seeker turned to Gor. "It won't be enough. None of this will." "I know, but surely that will not stop us trying? I'm sure that both yourself and Mordain know what I have come to realise; this city is doomed." replied the chieftan. "We fight not for the stones and timber of the city, but to give the people a chance to make their way further north. I have dispatched a message to my warriors; they will intercept the refugees of Ataya and escort them to their destination." "Thank you, Gor. You have long been a good friend to Weissland, and I am honoured to fight beside you once more." Gor looked back across the city. "These walls will not hold alone. Perhaps you should have some of these buildings near the wall torn down?" Shaellana nodded. "Just as we did in Port Village. But alas, there is not enough time." "Do what you can! We must do everything within our power to help defend this city." "Summon all the craftsmen in the city." commanded Shaellana. A nearby Seeker followed her commands. |

((Could you go on MSN? Need to talk toyou before I can reply.)) Mordain thought for a time. This was not a good time for such an uprising. "We do not have the time or man-power to retake the city, not at this time. However, the refugees will need to pass through Sirth to reach the safety offered by the Order of Light. So, something will have to be done regarding the city..." He paused. "We will need the help of others if we are to do anything." |

"Of course. I have made some new allies, though I'm not sure how much difference it will make. To attack and succeed in the way that they did would have required good numbers," Elandir said. "I have spoken to Haidas already, and he suggested I would have to bait them somehow." |

"Who are these allies?" Andros asked suddenly. When he noticed Mordain moved his gaze to him, he shrugged and explained himself, "I think it's a good idea that things are not left in shadows at this moment." |
