Loter pondered whether Mistrandar was asking how he had arrived at Ataya, or how he had escaped the Defiled Kingdom, yet he answered, "I do not beleive that now is the time for story telling. We should be preparing a counter-attack, marshalling forces." |

"I'm not asking for a story or a complete tale," Mistrandar said with irritation, "However, I have heard no news from the Great Wall until you arrive. And that means something must have hindered the other messengers from arriving." He sighed, "But you're right, our time is short. If the Great Wall is to fall the whole of Weissland needs to be ready. I will see to it that messengers are sent to meet with the army arriving in Ordail. Though I will have to bring this to Haidas. What can you tell of the army Loter?" |

Mordus stood silent in light of the news. It was all comming together as they had feared. He collected himself and went into action, calling to him four Seekers who had at the same moment had arrived at the courtyard. "This is deeply troubling Arthious, but we must not be so quick to disband the Great Wall. Should it be breached Ataya will undoubtedly become the stage for this impending bloodshed. We must prepare the city guard and raise the Militia and to do so we will need the garrison at the Great Wall to hold out for as long as possible." He felt anticipation building in himself and instructed the Seekers. "You. Send word to the Captain of the Guard and have him prepare the defence of the city." The appointed Seeker bowed and departed silently. Mordus addressed yet another one. "Send word throughout Weissland, the Militia is to be raised. I want every town, village and hovel to know of it. Every man able to defend his country will do so." The Seeker departed like the first, leaving Mordus to instruct the remaining two. With haste they were dispatched to bear news to the Archmage and the Great Wall. He reassumed his discourse with Alicant and Arthious. Plainly seeking more answears; consumed by nothing but the impending invasion. "Master Alicant, I hope Lord Haidas, the nobility and the mages of Ataya are men above such petty pride for I care nought for their squabbling. I have been appointed commander of all forces until the arrival of Lord Mordain or the Archemage, and by the gods I will not tolerate indecision in this our darkest hour. I ask you deliver word to them of what we have learned now and of the situation." He turned to Arthious. " I need details as to the progress of the siege. How long will the Wall hold? Surely the 50,000 strong garrison can hold their own. |

Mistrandar was completly struck by Mordus' sudden initative. But by all means, Mordus seemed to be handling this nice and effective, and if that was so, Mistrandar Alicant did not intend to make problems. "I will bring news to Haidas and inform him of the situation. Certainly the council will be assembled in time for Lathaon and Mordain's arrival. If not before," he said, then he bowed to Mordus and Loter Arthious and returned the way he had came. |

((Sorry)) "I "I was not exaggerating when I said that there were millions amongst the enemy's army. I would not be surprised if all the Defiled Kingdom has been called to arms. The Wall will not hold for much longer," he paused, looking around the courtyard. "She may hold until we marshal our defences, and perhaps even until Lathaon arrives, though I doubt it greatly." |

Mordus pondered, massaging his temple beneath his hooded cloak. He was faced with two choices; on one hand he could pull back the defences of the Wall - thus saving countless soldiers from certain doom but at what cost to Weissland? The vile hordes would run rampant throughout the kingdom, slaughtering all in its path -or he could man the Wall to the very last, buying Ataya and the rest of the kingdom enough time to safeguard the weak and prepare a defence. The bloodprice would cut deep a wound in the people with fifty thousand of Weissland's finest; fathers, sons, brothers, all dead. Could he live with that? It mattered scarcely for the people could not. Would not. He would no doubt be hanged by the very people he was safeguarding. He made up his mind, half smiling at the bitter irony. It was a poorly judged moment for no doubt Arthious saw him smile faintly as he delivered the order. "I need someone trustworthy to go with the Seeker I just sent to the Great Wall, Arthious. You." The smile had all but vanished, replaced with his usual, cold, indifference. He closed in on Arthious until they were face to face and grabbed his shoulder with one hand. "You know the way better than any messenger hitherto sent. Indeed they would still be alive if they shared your knowledge. The fate of Weissland hangs in the balance. You must tell the Commander of the Great Wall to hold at all costs. He is with honour and will do so. You must not fail. You can not." He let go of Arthious and stared past him to the flag of Weissland decorating the arched entrance to the Mystic Tower. |

((Loter, seeing as you've not posted in three days i'm taking the liberty of moving the plot onwards. My appologies but I've waited as long as I can without beating a cow with a brick.)) Arthious made as if to say something, concern spread upon his face. "I..." He looked at Mordus for a long moment, knowing he was being sent to deliver a death sentence. He felt odd, distant with the weight of fifty thousand souls on his shoulders. Even more troubling was how callously, the order had been given. He found his respect for the man fade rappidly to be replaced by growing revulsion. How could he smile at a moment such as that? Arthious frowned and saying nothing he departed to join the Seeker. Mordus was left standing alone in the tower courtyard, watching him decend the great stairs, knowing he may have made himself yet another enemy. Little did it matter he thought. He had managed a life of contempt thus far and he would not be swayed. |

Mistrandar walked through the elegant halls of the Mystic Tower, thinking of all he had to say to Lord Haidas when he was suddenly made aware of a man standing in the doorway to his own room as he passed it. "Who are you?" Mistrandar stopped and asked with a firm voice. The man smiled, turned and walked into the room. This of course made Mistrandar furious. Who did this man believe he was? He would teach him a lesson he thought, and conjured a magical spell in his left hand as he opened the door. As he entered the room an unatural darkness covered the entire room, steaming forth from the shadows in the corners. The man who he had seen before was covered in a dark robe, hiding his facial features. Mistrandar could feel the magical words disappearing from his mind, as they were being picked up and erased. He heard the door behind him being slammed shut and a freezing coldness filled the room. Something hit him in the chest and he crashed into the wall, falling unto the floor. "No Fizban," he wimped. "Please, I have told... Lord Dantares." "This is not Fizban, that weakling would never dare to come here again" the voice answered, a deep, powerful voice. "But it seems I have hit the exact right man." A quiet dripping laughter erupted. "It would have been best for you if you never had even heard of the name Fizban." |

Lord Haidas was indeed in his office when the door was knocked upon and a servant opened it. In came Mistrandar Alicant who bowed before Lord Haidas and spoke out. "Haidas," he said. "I'm afraid I have bad news." ((Someone play Haidas who know him? Jonathon?)) |

Mordus felt out of place standing in the empty courtyard, even though there was nothing else he could do about the situation. He walked to the top of the great stair and started upon a small path leading along the mountain. Not far from the tower he found the spot, just as he had remembered it; a gnarled beech tree stood rooted defiantly over a white marble bench over-looking Ataya. It was as hard as ever to discern which had been there first, the tree or the bench. He stopped infront of the bench and stood looking at it for a moment. Tentatively he reached out and touched the white surface before sitting down. Remembering that not always had he been so weary of the world. |

"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil. Mistrandar looked casually around the room before moving on. "Following the peace we heard was made earlier," he said, "most the army has returned to Weissland under leadership of Lord Lathaon, Lord Castoden and Lord Mordain. However, Loter Arthious arrived recently and reported that the Grear Wall is under heavy attack like never before. He says it is certain to fall if not reinforced." |
