--Leaves The Sea-- --Enters Ataya-- Two days in the saddle and Mordus was feeling the strain. He was weary and his bones ached. At least the pain kept him awake, barely. He'd foregone any visit to Ordail, even Kuren, flying straight for Ataya. As he passed the plains of Kuren he looked wistfully south, knowing his father would be in his smithy as usual; crafting with presicion some weapon or ornament. Kind yet stern and always with a ready smile. He hoped he would make him proud. As he rounded the base of Mount Ataya the striking pinacle of The Mystic Tower became visible and he remembered well the days of his earlier youth. Hours spent consumed by tome upon tome under the strict gaze of Mordain. Nights spent venturing with fellow apprentices into unknown parts. He flickered a smile, remembering how Vaelen had transmuted himself into a tree out of fright when confronted with goblins, only to be given the unwanted affection of a dryad a few days later whilst unable to reverse his spell. Mordus and the others were reluctant to part such a happy union but had relented in the end. Better days indeed. They glided in a smooth descent towards the city, Mordus hoping for the best. |

Mistrandar Alicant walked down the stone-padded steps of one of the many stairs leading down from one of the towers to the courtyard of the Mystic Tower. To the right of him walked one of the Captains of the Royal Guard of Weissland. He had been told Mordus had been sighted , and he wanted to greet the man himself. |

Mordus planted his feet firmly on the paved courtyard of the royal stables, streatching his tiffened limbs with unsettling cracks. An attendant quickly greeted him, seeing to his Dragon and saddle-bags at his request. He left him to it and started to wander towards the Mystic Tower. Any news of importance would greet him there, or so he hoped. The the familiar streets were populated as ever with citizens - going about their daily routines, safe. They had not seen war for many years and hopefully it would remain so. He made his way at a liberal pace to the southwestern gateway, exiting the city and starting upon the path up the mounatinside. Scholars and mages passed him on his way up, many of them people he had once known but he payed them little heed and they avoided his dark silhouette. He grew more tired with each step, the days in the saddle taking their toll. He persevered until finnaly he arrived at the tower courtyard. |

((I thought the Mystic Tower was outside Ataya)) Mistrandar Alicant walked forward, his long colorful robe and elegant cloak flowing around him as the wind blew across the courtyard. "Welcome Mordus," the elf spoke as he met the man. "The news of the peace has reached us. Does this mean that Lord Thaendil, Master Mordain and General Rios is returning as well?" ((If you wonder this is one of the Mage Lords of the Mystic Tower of Ataya, ask Jonno for more info if you want it. He is a friend of Lathaon, though not part of the Council of Weissland or anything)) |

((I always assumed it was connected to the city via some sort of fortified causeway but I could be wrong.)) Mordus raised an eyebrow beneath his hood as he was approached. The comforts of city life were all too fetted on some mages he thought. Looking at them both a greater contrast in garments and demeanour you would be hard pressed to find. "Thank you Master Alicant. They are indeed and will be with us soon should the seas stay apeased. There are however more pressing issues at hand which need to be dealt with. My self, Mordain and others felt the magical aftershock of something whilst in the Realm. No doubt you have as well and will know as well as I do that great evil stirred." |

"Many of us as did," Mistrandar nodded, seriousness in his face. The smile was no longer on his thing lips. "We sent men south to the Great Wall a week ago to find out if the assaulting attackers are growing in strength, or if anything else had changed." "Shortly after this, Lord Peridias went south as well with a sizable force of men. They are to reinforce the wall just in case. Mages Cyrpos and Sirithian has tried to contact Lathaon Thaendil through magical means, but Sirithian has claimed that the aftermath of whatever happened lately has complicated the magical waves and they have not been successful." "But please, tell me, what do you know?" |

"We know nought with substance or conviction. It was my hope to find such from you but as nothing concrete has been established yet it would appear that our main goal now is to seek news from the Great Wall, and with great haste I may add." He stroked his stubble. "A week is a long time without word from Lord Peridas. We must assume the worst." |

"We must indeed," Mistrandar said and turned around. "I will notify Lord Haidas of the coming arrival Lord Thaendil, Castoden and Rios. Do you know how they will travel from Ordail?" |

"Should our fears be verified I have no doubt the lords would travel with the utmost haste. I believe they would leave Rios in command of the army and travel by eagle here but I can not know for sure. I suggest you send word to them by magical means. Failing that an eagle messenger should do." He glanced around the courtyard and then up at the tower, streatching far into the sky. I can not wait much longer for news of the Great Wall Master Alicant. If word does not reach me by nightfall I will travel there myself. |

Mistrandar nodded, "I understand. I believe there are many of us who will do the same shortly." He sighed, "I wish Lathaon could be here any minute. With both him, Mordain, Rios and Castoden away, leadership has been disputed. Lord Haidas is in his office. Do you wish to speak with him, or shall I take the news to him myself?" |

((I be here)) Loter walked out into the courtyard of the tower, having spent a few hours in the Library. His armour had been fully repaired, and he was wearing it at present. He strode towards two people, standing in the courtyard. As he approached, he acknowledged one, whom he did not know of, and the other, who he had only heard of, but recognised. "Master Alicant," he bowed, and then inclined his head in the direction of the other. "I could not help but overhear your discussion about the Great Wall. I was there, recently, as you may know...rescued from the clutches of death." |

Mistrandar returned the bow with a respectful nod, "We have been awaiting your arrival Lord Arthious. I am glad to see you alive after all this time. Without doubt Lord Thaendil, and the rest of the council, will look forward to hearing of what you have seen on your journey." He waved his hand in a small move towards Mordus. "May I introduce you to Mordus, former apprentice of Mordain Thaendil and one of the highest ranking of the Seekers." The last word had a inquisitive tone to it, Mistrandar Alicant disliked the methods of Mordain's organization although he respected many of its members. |

Mordus surveyed the man for a moment before replying. In him he saw a soldier, a Lord perhaps but at heart a soldier, weathered in battle. He knew in pride he could trust. "No time we may spare as to the intricasies who we are Master Alicant, regretful as it may be. Suffice to say we both serve our people and country. I have great need of news from the great wall Lord Arthious. Evil stirrs and I sense in you a witness to it. We must make haste, tell me what you know." He was growing restless - could feel adrenaline rising in his limbs despite any known peril. |

Loter's eyes widened slightly at Mordus' question. "There is no doubt, Mordus. The Great Wall cannot hold. Millions of beasts, and Orcs, and cursed daemons assault it as we speak. Reinforcing the Wall would be folly, we must set up defensive positions, and try to split the enemy's forces." |

"What?" Mistrandar said with surprise. "How could no messenger have reached us? How did you travel to Ataya Loter?" |
