The voice poured further pain into Grobtak.

"No power? How little you know..." boomed the voice.

The voice invoked its power, using Grobtak to create it in the mortal world. Arcs of power shot from Grobtak and struck his companions, as well as tearing up the ground and felling a number of trees.

Again, the voice focussed, bringing further suffering down upon the mortal.

"Serve me, Grobtak! You need not die now. There is so much still to be done."
"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil.

"It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil.

One of the terrible arcs of powers hit the horse of Gonhin in the head, melting it outright, causing Gonhin and his dead mount to fall to the ground.

Another hit Telen square in the chest, knocking the hardened man out of the saddle.

Grobtak fell to his knees, for the first time in many, many decades tears flowed from his eyes. "No," he whispered. "I can't do this. You don't understand."

Pain continuing, the voice moved its presence closer. "And why not, little mortal?" Hissed the voice, venomous hate dripping from every word.

"I am already serving someone," Grobtak said. "And a servant who serves more than one master is a dead servant."

His limbs were shaking now, his very mind growing mad and crazy by the neverending suffering. He could not fight it anymore.

"Help me Dantares," Grotbak cried in his head, over the pain.

Kor'Mor'Oka could only sit in the cave and wait. Sunlight was lethal to his kind. The cave had originally been occupied by a bear, now the animal's carcass had been thrown outside and it's blood had provided some sustainance for him. It was still only morning, a long way until night.

The voice laughed. "Dantares? You think another mortal can help you now? You are mine!"

Grobtak shook his head, "No. I am but a servant of another."

"Dantares!" he cried once more in his head and his master answered.

"This is the second time you fail me Grobtak. You should have learned from your mistake the first time. Never crave more power than what you have been given from me alone. Now I remove your oaths and duties, and you successor has already been chosen. You are free."

Grobtak let out a wailing scream as his eyes turned white. Then he fell forward in the dry mud on the ground. He was dead.

Kor'Mor'Oka sniffed the air deeply, his heightened senses going off as if in alarm. Something had changed, the scent of his foe had suddenly changed. It was still there, but there was more to it, the pungent smell of death clung with it. It could mean only one thing, his enemy was dead. Still, the vampire could do nothing, the sun was still bright, night was still far away. But later, when the sun shrank away and was replaced by the moon, the vampire tracker would investigate. And if time allowed, hunt down and slay his enemy's companions for sport.

The voice withdrew and all went still. Then, he faded from the area completely...

Telen rose from the grass, his leather armor was burnt and scorched but he was unharmed behind it. He moved carefully towards the body of Grobtak, turned him around and felt the puls.

"I do not understand this," he spoke as Gonhin and Turak came towards them. "What are we to do now? Volan was to be our new leader in case Grobtak should perish, but he is not with you."

"He has travelled to Amei, so I think so far we should carry on with our journey north. The center of it all Grobtak said as we travelled from Endral," Gonhin said as he picked up Grobtak's old sword.

"Asulien" Turak added as he took the small leather pouch from Grobtak's pelt. Then three men mounted up and departed northwards.

Night had fallen, and once the sun was gone, Kor'Mor'Oka began his work. He flew north with great haste, until he reached what he had been hunting.

Landing lightly he walked over to the slumped form. The body of his enemy had been gnawed at by some animals, but they had found him not to their taste and fled. Flies buzzed around the corpse. Kor'Mor'Oka sniffed the air, catching scent of the others. They had gone north, leaving the body behind. But they were nothing, not important. Now that his enemy was gone, the power he held was removed from him. Hopefully that meant the power was back in the book, or that it could easily be returned there.

With a final look around, he spread his wings and took to the air once more. He wheeled gracefully and headed south towards Ataya.

--Enters from Aelendak--

Narak'Phel's army had been moving for a number of days, and now they had arrived in Endral.

The vampire lord moved into the city, seeing corpses littering the streets as fiendish ghouls feasted on them. The ghouls looked up at Narak and bared their teeth. Then they pounced.

The first was felled in seconds by the vampire tearing its head from it neck. Another ghoul lunged at Narak, but he vanished in a shroud of smoke before appearing behind it and slaying it.

"Spread through the city. Bring me any survivors." commanded Narak.

Undead begin moving through the city, searching for anyone sill alive.

((Is there anyone left here? Anyone of importance, that is? Anyone that someone may want to evacuate before I burn this city to the ground? :P ))

((I don't know... You have - or had? - Seekers there, right? I would be pleased if Hans Drairan, Toulac Axehand, the entire dark council, and every dragon in the known world were in there for you to destroy, but I don't really know of anyone there for sure.))

((You claimed you had Seekers still in Endral, but except for them there should only be a few very low-ranking Shattered Sword-members hanging about as well as the ghouls))

All who were found by the undead were torn limb from limb and devoured. Narak wasted no time in setting the city aflame. With their purpose fulfilled, the undead continued on to Fargon.
