Alright, so for a while there this place was pretty fun to get onto, to post on, and talk with others on. More and more members were coming back, new things were being started and all seemed well.

Well, not to say it, as I'm sure everyone (or at least most) have already figured out that this place sucks now. Some forums are still in good condition, but most aren't, including the usually most active ones.

It was starting to really go downhill, and then I noticed a change pretty much right at the time when the forum change was made, with off-topic and the new spam sub-forum and everything.

Anyways, nobody really posts anything anymore, and there's really nothing to post about, or reply to/about. Really, now when I get on (usually once a day) there are a very few new posts, or at least ones worth reading, as everything now is just spam. Everything turns into spam, and it seems to be the same people (surprise surprise) who post everything. Every thread is the same retarded crap, and it just sucks. Already it seems at least half, if not more, of the active members here (who at least have some common sense) no longer post in much of the site, at all, making it pretty dead. With the exception of spam.

Just thought I'd bring this out in the open, since I'm surprised no one else has already.

If you feel there is nought interesting to discuss then why not make an effort to find something?

I agree with the spam thing. But i've been here forever so not many new topics etc doesn't really mean a great deal to me.

I think there are quite a few interesting topics around here. It's actually so many that I actually choose to not participate in some of them, because it's really to much. So the site does not lack interesting conversations, you just have to try looking for them.

Though I do agree the spam level has risen unneccessary.

We miss you in the RPG Jack, we're REAL serious there

I agree, there are a lot of interesting topics around. Alex, Mordus and others have started some interesting topics recently.

Old news jack. I already posted this back when I returned - because it was the reason for my departure.

We all know it is that way, but as I have said so many times now, not much to do about it. We will never experience our glorious times again, but it is all right - same happens to all forums.

We are like Rome and the spammers are like the Barbarians...

Nice analogy, Sunny, but I prefer having a tightly-knit community of posters than the larger one we used to have, when, I, at least, knew barely half of the posters.

And I agree Jack. I'm finding it hard to find a good topic to post in.

I agree with Mordus; if you can't find anything interesting, why not make something interesting, instead of complaining? If people haven't complained, perhaps it is because they are content with the forum the way it is. I know I am.
"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil.

"It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil.

Heh. This forum isn't like a sport - we can't discuss new stories every day. This forum was dedicated to LOTR, but that is dead, and now is dedicated to spam.

HIC, I demand that you bludgeon yourself with a rock until your mental status returns to the level of a rapist who calls back to apologise! Your use of elaborate language and words is making me uneasy. Although, I am somewhat relieved to see that your punctuation remains shit-based.

Ownt.

Anyways, there is a general truth. Complaining about the bad things just urges people to talk about it which is worse than just shutting up.

Yeah, topics like these do not help things get any better.

I, for one, think a few new members would be better, since that way they can bring in new ideas, new things to discuss, and they are the future for TWC. I agree that too many members would mean we wouldn't know everyone so well, but how many members do you expect to join a site which has "died" already for some people? How many would join? Only those who can see a possible bright future for TWC. Only those who are willing to be active, and who could help to push TWC a bit closer to the great site it once was. Who but those people would join for more than a few minutes... a few hours... a day..?

Tell me, why is everyone so determined to keep TWC dying or dead?

The site does what you put into it. Get more people to join if you want new faces people. The site functions but there needs to be a lot of activity, the problem is one person gets bored with not posting and doesnt post, then the same happens again and again and so no one posts, vicious circle, make topics everyone, post, participate, the spam is being delt with, as usual, if you see anything message a mod. It WILL be dealt with.

Hmmm, let's think... oh I know why... because it all just turns into a shitload of spam <_<

And new things are made, but you can only make so many anyways, without them being forced. And complaining is a way of bringing a grievance out into the light so that it may be fixed. Without complaints, the problems in the world as a whole would probably never be fixed.

Also just because people haven't said anything doesn't mean they don't like what's happening, like Eomer, Rudder and Sunny (except he's talked about it before, but things have gotten even worse since then).

Is this even considered logic? I mean honestly, think through what you say, so that you don't make youself look like a complete dumbshit <_<

I mean think about it, the site admin, who created this whole place and everything, says the same as me on this point about the forums. There are points for making topics like these, because what good is it to simply sit and not do anything about the problem? What good is in that? At least making these topics does something, as we will be able to talk about what the hell is going on.

Lets not argue, we are all friends. OK Jack, lets see what we can do, forum members if you have any ideas post them here, no fighting! :) Also sorry jack but I have edited the title so it is more productive than negative.

Hmm, I'm rather conflicted here. I do agree with Jack on some points, especially the spam issue. It certainly could be done without. And I will hold my hands up and say that I have been responsible for some of it, but I think a lot of us have been from time to time.

But I'd say that just because there seems to be little to discuss or there are no interesting topics that you can see is not worth people giving up on the forum. All forums have bouts of inactivity or run out of things to discuss. Few forums last as long as TWC has (and will). My own attempt at a long-running discussion forum didn't last long. The SpacePort had about three months of great activity, everyone was active and discussing a lot of topics. They started to post fiction, galleries and the community stories such as the War of Armalisa and Rebel Star Rising. But then it fell apart, nobody was active and there just didn't seem like anything else to talk about.

Really the only thing you can do is try to get new members in and create interesting topics.
