"Do you honeslty believe I am here to play games, Realmer?" Xazkil's voice was now fiery with rage. "We are not holding any of your people! And did it not occur to you that Weissland and the Realm were tricked into fighting one-another, lured into war by lies presented to both sides? Surely, does this whole scenario not remind you of such things?" |

Crean Tiven was about to answer again, but he was cut off by the sound of a mighty battle horn to the south in the city. All heads outside the mayor's house and at the plaza turned in that direction, hearing the sound battle rising. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Realmers lifted their arms and shields to cover themself against the rocks and other things the citizens threw at them. It was for the most part harmless, but then a stone struck threw and knocked down a Realmer, killing him. "Pick him up," a sergeant called out, not knowing it was aready too late. "Bring him to safety." Then the man turned his face and screamed out, "No. Hold the line." But it was too late for that as well, some of the Realmers had lost disipline and attacked the citizens. Swords hacked down, and two men of Ordail lay dead on the street. Screams among the citizens when they realized the Reamers was an actual threat. Sure, it was a sound way of clearing the streets but the sergeant knew Viljam Heglin would grief for every innocent man who died in this battle. The sergeant turned his head and saw knights, marshals and other mounted men of the Realm riding forth. The already panicked citizens of Ordail turned into a terrifyed mob trying to get away, and it was not too difficult for the mounted Realmers clearing a path through. The Weisslanders had overestimated the honour of the Realmers it would seem. At the same time the infantry of the White Realm moved into the three main streets that the infantry of Weissland was holding. Meanwhile, the archers moving across the roofs were taken almost completely by surprise by the Weisslanders facing them. The numerous foes jumping forth and unleashing a hail of arrows proved deadly, and as many as seventeen Realmers fell already. The archers of the Realm were disiplined however, and when the Weisslander came back after having reloaded they were greeted by returning fire from the Realmers. Screams through the night and the sound of bodies hitting streets meant that the Weisslanders on the roof were suffering casualties aswell. |

The Seeker officer listened to the sounds. He was about to speak when a Seeker reached him. "Sir, the Realmers... they've attacked! They're killing civilians!" With wrath in his eyes, he turned back to the Realm leader before him. "'No more Realmers or Weisslanders will be harmed this day'. Isn't that what you told me, you pathetic wretch?!" roared the Seeker officer. He drew a jagged dagger in one hand and a short-sword in the other as he dropped to the ground, spinning as he went down. He sliced at the three nearest Realm soldiers, cutting the tendons behind their knees. He then rose up and drove his weapons into their chests. Moyra threw her arms forward and unleashed a thick cloud of black smoke, impentrable to the naked eye, but she and Xazkil could still see clearly through it. Xazkil was in a frenzy, kicking Realmers aside and severing whatever he had to in order to reach the Mayor, or to at least kill the bastard of a Realmer who had promised him the safety of his people. |

((I thought Ordail was a rather big city. That was close to the southern gate, and we're in the middle of the harbour-area based on the development that has been outlaid in this thread. So you would not have been able to see that. But okay)) The Realmers fell back out of reach of the half-frenzied Seeker Leader. The smoke from the Seeker Mage's, Moyra, hands ruined the visibility of the Realmers but also of the Weisslanders behind them. Crean Tiven stumbled backwards in the darkness. He considered himself a faily good fighter, but the magic used by Moyra turned him into a helpless kid compared to his usual skill. He could hear Xazkil however, the elf was furious with anger. A blade came out of the thick smoke, and Crean just managed to parry with his own blade. Curse, he thought. Curse this magic. |

((Oh, woops. I don't know much about the city layout. I was imagining it as if we were in a square, and that the main street would lead from the gates to the square. I'll change my post so that it makes sense.)) Xazkil saw the one known as Crean parry. In responce, the elf flipped over the man and kicked him in the back, knocking him to the ground. He slashed through two more enemy soldiers until he finally reached the other leader, the one holding the mayor. Xazkil did not hesitate; he grabbed the man by the throat and slammed him against the wall, pinning him there by pushing his forearm against the man's neck and then placing the tip of his blade against the man's throat. The Seeker officer leaned in very close as Moyra allowed the smoke to dissipate, the Weissland soldiers moving in with their weapons drawn. They were ready to strike, but Moyra raised her hand, signalling for them to wait. "You have spilt innocent blood in this town. The mayor is as innocent as the civilians your men just butchered. Now, I want you to think very carefully about your options. Threaten the mayor again, and I'll cut out your tongue. Threaten this city again, and I'll tear your throat from your body. And if the Realmers moving through this city do not stop then a lot of unnecessary blood is going to be spilt, because as I have said, we are not holding Hound!" Xazkil's voice was so low, formed entirely of hushed fury. His whole form radiated with a terrifying presence, one that made it nearly impossible for his enemy to predict what he would do. |

((No, leave it for now. And just you wanting to have the events turn a certain way do not mean you can do so. I wanted to end the War with Weissland in the Tower of Weissland, but I could not do things with my character which almost forced other character to choose certain options. We were both under the illusion of a lie back then as well)) |

((Ok.)) The Realmers had returned fire on the archers on the roofs, but Captain Laurie could not see how many men he had lost. He felt it must have been ten or more though. The archers continued their battle, firing back and forth. With the commotion of the citizens, he knew that the Realmers must be in amongst them. Word came down to him from the roofs that the citizens had been attacked by the Realmers, several were dead and now cavalry was riding through them, the seething mass of people and horse causing injuries to both parties, although the citizens were coming off worse. He cursed the Realmers and ordered the swordsmen to move behind the archers on the ground to guard the rear of the position and send word to the other streets to do the same. The main Realmer formation was approaching and there seemed little chance of avoiding further combat now. With a sigh he shouted to the archers behind him "Volley fire, aim for the rear!" Doing as commanded the three lines of archers with their longbows, raised their weapons, drew back and fired. The arrows flew up and arced, coming down towards the rear portion of the Realmer formation. They had good armour and big shields, but these shields were facing forward, not up. A few Realmers fell dead, while the majority hit were either mildly injured or unharmed, the arrows not going through the armour far enough. But it disrupted the formation slightly, forcing the rear portion to attempt to clamber over their fallen comrades or stop to help them. Nord said to him "They attacked the citizens. That was unexpected." Laurie shouted "Its more than unexpected, its bloody reprehensible!" He issued the command "Spearmen at the ready! Rise and address!" As one the formation of spearmen lowered their spears slightly from their previous position against their shields which was designed to conserve their energy until the enemy was almost ready to attack. Shields were in place, raised enough to protect as much of the body as possible. |

((Argh. I am sorry Chadden)) "Then where is he now?" Foren Heften spat as Xazkil held his throat. "The mayor!" a voice cried, and as Moyra, Xazkil and the Realmers turned their heads they saw the mayor laying on the stairs, brething heavily. He held his hand against his throat as he was bleeding badly from it. A critical wound from the blade of Foren Heften, accidently delivered when Xazkil had grabbed the Realmer and forced him away from the mayor. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The archers continued their fighting on the rooftops. A small group of men skirted around the skirmish, pulled their blades and attacked the Weisslanders on the roof from behind. Meanwhile, back in the side streets, the officers of the White Realm managed to regain control of his men. It seemed like only four citizens of Ordail were dead, and two others wounded. "Help those men," one of the sergeant ordered his men. "See to their wounds and bring them to safety." The knights and marshals riding through among the pack of people did not cause any harm, but the citizens still stayed out of their way and fled further into the city or back to their houses. In the main street, Sir Viljam Heglin moved to the first line, showing no fear in face of the deadly fire from the Weisslanders. "Continue to march forward," he called out along the line, his strong voice getting through to every man. "Cover the wounded. Hold formation and make ready to charge." Behind the shield carriers, crossbowmen made ready their loaded weapons. |

((Lol, no problem Ariakas.)) Xazkil backed off, dropping his blades to his sides, but not sheathing them just in case. He waved his hands at the Realmers. "Move back, unless you want this to truly get bloody!" |

Foren Heften staggered backwards and Realmers, who were between twenty and thirty, gathered themselves around him. Crean Tiven got up, but did not join Foren Heften. Crean looked at Xazkil, then at the mayor and back at Xazkil again. "So you don't know where our comrades are at all?" |

Xazkil ushered Moyra forward. The Shadow Mage began her work to cure the mayor as best she could. The Seeker officer turned to Crean. "No, I do not. As I have said; the first I heard of Realmers in Ordail is that they had attacked and killed people at the harbour." |

"In Ordail? No one!" said Xazkil. He moved towards Crean. "But I swear to you, Realmer; I am hiding nothing! What reason would I have, would Weissland have, for wanting to start the war again? It ended well for Weissland; we were not affected by it, at least not here in our homeland. We have no reason to risk the safety of our land, especially with the war against the Defiled Kingdom in the south! Think this through, before acting like a fool. None of this makes sense!" |
