"Based on the Seeker's message, my lord, I would guess less than a day." replied Mordain. The Wall was under attack? This meant he had less time than he had expected. |

"Stand against me if you must, for of course you will. Conflict is just another part of this flawed reality. You need to cling to your concepts and purposes, your feeble honour and glory. None of it serves any purpose in the end. And the end draws close." - Krodalis Thaendil. "It really is amazing; she killed Kelan Wealer, not that I am complaining, but then the order welcomed her as their new leader. It makes one wonder if I were to ram a blade down her throat, would the monks then follow my commands?" - Mordain Thaendil. One of the Last Guardians. Suck it. | |

Mordain nodded. "Very well, my Lord. I shall depart at once and prepare for your arrival." He walked to where his dragon lay waiting for him, slumbering peacefully. Waking it, Mordain mounted the massive creature before addressing a nearby Seeker. "You; send word to Lord Castoden that I have departed for Ataya. Tell him to follow as soon as possible." With that said, Mordain took his dragon into the air and disappeared through the clouds. --Leaving Ordail-- --Entering Ataya-- |

Lathaon looked to his left, where a soldier was walking quickly and deliberately towards him. As he came close, he murmured "Elandir wants to speak to you," and walked just as quickly away. Lathaon followed him. Shortly, they reached a dark-looking building, half underground, hidden behind a row of shops. The soldier descended the steps, and the archmage, with his guards, followed. It looked abandoned, and there was nobody to be seen. "Elandir?" Lathaon said, looking around. Something moved in the shadows. Then something else. There was a brief sound of steel as three assassins leapt forward, brandishing jagged blades, soaked in a viscous green substance. The archmage had only seen one, stepping aside at the last minute. The second missed. The third struck his shoulder, luckily protected by the metal pads of his white robes. They had missed their chance already. Lathaon brought up a shield around him and the guards cut the assassins apart before anything more could happen. He lowered the shield. Suddenly, an arrow flew past his face, embedding itself in the soldier's neck. Lathaon turned to face the doorway. "Apologies, milord. I was not expecting the assassins to lead you here by my name," the mercenary said. "Probably tortured it out of the real agent." "Hello, Elandir," said the archmage. "There was something I wanted to know." "Yes?" "I didn't know quite who to ask," Lathaon began "but where is Arhaina? Is she safe?" "Ataya. She wanted to join the fight, but her guards made her stay in the city," Elandir replied, grinning. "I heard she was quite angry about that... but that she remains safe." "That's great. Thank you!" "Now then. I followed you as best I could once we arrived here in Ordail, and I happened to find out you wanted to alert the Undead Hunters," said Elandir. "I have sent a spell sphere already. I also sent many of my men to Lathor. Now that the Defiled Kingdom is attacking, Rathor might decide to join in. " "Good, good. I sent word to Captain Thalian to prepare your payment. Straight from my stash aboard the Heavenly Glaive. You should find him." "Ah. Thank you, my archmage," Elandir said. "There was also the matter of the assassins. I am not quite sure who sent them, though I have my suspicions. I'm afraid I did not discover their presence quickly enough to find this building in time." "My guards are the ones to protect me from them. Don't worry about it." "Goodbye, Lathaon Thaendil." "Farewell." Lathaon looked down at the bodies. They were dressed in black, with nothing to identify them as any particular group, though two of them were dark elves. He picked up one of the blades, and a drop of the poison dripped off. "Guards, take their weapons. I do not want others to find them," he said. "The City Guard will clean up the mess from there. I had better leave for Ataya." Lathaon found his eagle and flew southeast. --Leaving Ordail-- --Entering Ataya-- |

Nathaniel Drakkon
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
|
--Entering from Port Village-- Kor'Mor'Oka had been in a fearful rage since leaving the shore of the White Realm. Everywhere he went the mage slipped through his talons like a squirming worm. But not this time, Kor'Mor'Oka was fuelled by hatred, and now he would do anything to capture the man and complete his mission for the Master. To fail a third time would be a slow, painful death sentence. Such was his mood that black clouds seemed to follow in his wake, heading into the port of Ordail from the sea. As his black, leathery wings carried him up above the clouds he used his keen sight to see the formations of Weissland soldiers, and he spotted the Seekers gathering together. But amongst them he did not find Nathaniel Drakkon. Kor'Mor'Oka was about to give up and land somewhere outside the city but he spotted his quarry. The mage was standing talking to two others dressed as Seekers, not far from the main body of Seekers. But, Kor'Mor'Oka thought, far enough to grab him before anyone can help him. As he hovered in the air, he let the dark clouds sweep ahead of him. Many below looked up at the thick, black clouds with worry and foreboding. Bracing himself, Kor'Mor'Oka flung himself downward, out of the clouds, roaring like rushing water, to many he was not something out of a nightmare, he was the nightmare. Downwards, picking up speed, he hurtled towards Nathaniel Drakkon. The man looked up, seeing the black shape as it grew larger and larger by the second, too late he realised its trajectory and said "Oh hell." With what seemed like a cracking impact, the obsidian and grey form of Kor'Mor'Oka smashed into Nathaniel, Knocking the other two Seekers to the ground momentarily. As Kor'Mor'Oka started to rise again into the air, Nathaniel thrashed in his vice-like grip. Instinctively the man kicked out, hitting the vampire in the gut, and loosening the grip enough to free an arm. His staff had been dropped, but Nathaniel reached for his sword, managing to draw it quickly. The pair were flying at a low height along a main street, with people ducking out of the way or screaming and shouting. Before Kor'Mor'Oka could stop the struggling man, Nathaniel brought the straight blade down on his left shoulder, the metal biting deep into un-natural flesh. Shouting out in pain, Kor'Mor'Oka said "Damn you, I should rip your arms off foolish mage. But you are needed alive." As Nathaniel raised the weapon a second time, Kor'Mor'Oka raised his arm and jarred the sword from the man's grasp, seeing it spin towards the ground as they rushed past. The sword imbedded itself between a gap in the cobbles. Nathaniel was not entirely without weapons though, and summoning some power to him, sent a flash of light from his palm directly into the eyes of his attacker. Both predator and prey fell towards the ground, a fall of about eight feet. Luckily for Nathaniel, the monster landed first and the man bounced off the creature's body and away from it, saving him from greater damage. It seemed that Nola and Talath had not been idle in the flurry of seconds which had made up the encounter. Running up with a handful of soldiers at their backs, the two Seekers had drawn their weapons and were about to attack Kor'Mor'Oka. As Nathaniel stood groggily, he saw the creature rise like a shadow, then flap its wings once, buffetting them with foul air. That gave it some room, and as it turned on the soldiers, Talath lashed out at it with one of his short swords striking Kor'Mor'Oka across the chest, a slight wound which stung, but did little to stop the vampire. Nathaniel called out "My sword!" pointing to the blade on the far side of the combat. Nola quickly darted back from the monster, sheathing one sword and pulling Drakkon's sword from the ground. Turning she tossed the weapon high towards the waiting mage. Nathaniel reached for the weapon, but Kor'Mor'Oka grabbed it out of the air laughing cruelly. As the soldiers closed in Kor'Mor'Oka smote one to the ground with the sword, cleaving through the armour and flesh with the ease of his immense strength. Swiping to the right and left, the vampire sliced the throats of two more soldiers, who spun to the ground, spraying blood over all nearby. Kor'Mor'Oka used his wings to keep his enemies off balance, and as the two Seekers charged him, he kicked out hard, sending Talath crashing into the wall of a nearby house, sliding down to the ground, clutching his ribs. As Nola charged she threw a dagger at Kor'Mor'Oka, which embedded itself deeply in his thigh. But the adrenaline was coursing through him and he just roared, slashing at the woman with his razor-sharp claw, ripping through her cloak and the back of her armour as she rolled away from him. Seeing a trickle of blood on his claws, Kor'Mor'Oka knew she was wounded only slightly, but then he felt a sharp pain in the small of his back. Turning and striking out, he knocked Nathaniel back a few paces, but the man stood regardless, blade at the ready. The sword had been in Kor'Mor'Oka's hand, and yet the black, cloaked human had used magic to tear it from the vampire's grip while he was distracted. The others regrouped, and could only watch as Nathaniel charged at the monster, shouting "For Weissland!" But sadly his attack was expected by Kor'Mor'Oka, who waited and bending his knees, he tackled the mage hard, and leaping in the same motion, took to the air. Nathaniel's eyes bulged as he felt at least one rib crack. His arm holding his sword was pinned by Kor'Mor'Oka's hand, but for all the evil creature's strength, Nathaniel refused to let go of the weapon, as if some greater power willed the sword to stay in the mage's possession. Regardless Kor'Mor'Oka flew up high, above the roofs of the buildings, into the sky and they flew away to the south. --Kor'Mor'Oka with Nathaniel Drakkon leaving Ordail-- --Heading for Great Wall-- |

((Jimmy agreed to me playing his character until he's able to himself)) James Castoden mounted his horse as the army began to march out from Ordail. It had taken a long time to prepare the army for the march to Ataya, and it had far from gotten easier after both Lathaon and Mordain suddenly disappeared on their own. Once again, James thought. James turned to his lieutenant, Darnil Tay. "Find a messenger and send word to Mordain about what transpired with Nathanial Drakkon," he said. Darnil nodded, and James kicked his heels into the side of his horse and rode towards the helm of the column. [[James Castoden leaves Ordail. Army marches towards Nairio.]] |
