If you could play Peter Jackson, would you have chosen different actors than the real Lord of the Rings actors. If you would, then who would you have chosen and for which role?

Bono - Denethor

No, seriously, I don't think John Noble was suitd to Denethor. I think someone who would have been excellent as him would have been Rupert Evans.

Hmmm.... I think that he was the only ad-casted person. If I could, I would have given Damian Lewis a role in it. Possibly as Faramir,. I could imagine him as Faramir, but Dave Wenham is great as him.

HIC, I demand that you bludgeon yourself with a rock until your mental status returns to the level of a rapist who calls back to apologise! Your use of elaborate language and words is making me uneasy. Although, I am somewhat relieved to see that your punctuation remains shit-based.

Only person I'd change is Faramir, I'd say have David Thewlis play him, though David does look a bit older than he should be...if they could make him look a bit younger he'd be perfect for the part. Oh yeah, if you have no idea who he is...here's a list of his most recent roles:

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: Remus Lupin.
Timeline: Robert Doniger
Kingdom of Heaven: The Hospitalier

Also, I'd stick Liam Neeson somewhere in the mix, he fits perfectly...though what part I'm not sure.

Kingdom of Heaven: Godfrey
Batman Begins: Henri Ducard
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe: The Voice of Aslan

Well, otherwise everyone else is fine. Ian McKellen is great, the hobbits all fit their parts nicely. Viggo, Orlando and John fit the Three Hunters perfectly...Mortenson pulling off the rugged appeal of Strider and the spectacular appeal of King Elessar quite impressively.

Haha have you seen John Rhys Davies in real life? He's pretty damn tall...I'm surprised they could make him into a dwarf.

I'd replace the Whitch King with myself. I wouldn't even need a costume. :P

lol the Witch King needs to be pretty tall...adds to the special effects, I'd say 7'5" or something...and don't lie, we all know I'd make a perfect Gondorian in the background. ^_^ You know...that one that gets shot, trampled and mauled by a warg over and over again.

Oh wait I saw that! It was in Helm's Deep, an elf slips and shoots an arrow straight up, then the arrow comes back down and hits him dead on. Haha that would be funny...anybody seen the Troy scene where the Greek army rushes forward to attack Troy, and you see one of the soldiers fall and do a faceplant in the distance...then proceed to get trampled by a thousand greeks. It's the funniest thing if you can spot it...

This started kind of seriously with Apollo's and Alex' posts. Can't we keep it on topic - like in - serious?

Anyways - I agree on Viggo Mortensen's great performance. I do not agree, however about Thewlis. I don't think he would fit such a role. In fact, I think Welham did a great job as Faramir.

Maybe someone else could have played Elrond - or Celeborn. Christopher Lee, however, played very well!

Awww...poor David. ^_^

Yeah David Wenham did a superb job with Faramir. John Noble, I thought, was spectacular with Denethor. Most of the men seem to be well placed, even Orlando Bloom fitted Legolas fairly well, though Orlando is in my opinion, not the best actor there is. His voice sounded alot like an elf's voice though. John Rhys Davies seemed to fit well. Sean Bean did really well too, I'd have chosen a different Witch King though. (Yes somebody played the WK...same guy that played Lurtz actually.) I'd have chosen someone really really tall, and thin too. Someone who would be able to easily pass as a rotting dead guy with a cloak on. Hobbits...I might object to a couple of them...but they did alright.

David Thewlis, hmmm. A very good actor, I must admit. Perhaps he would have been good as Wormtongue, but he is not sly enough. I still stand by my decision that Damian lewis would have been great as Faramir, because he is about the right age. But the casting for LOTR is probably the greatest cast for a film ever, so I couldn't make many changes.

They're all nobodys...'cept for McKellen and Tyler, otherwise nobody had ever heard of any of them before...which was what made it so great. The first time you see them they're LOTR actors, and they play their roles so well you actually think that they really are men of the west, hobbits, dwarves and elves. However I was pretty upset with PJ going so far from the books...everyone knows it takes about 5 orcs to overcome a Gondorian soldier, and if all the Gondorian soldiers are armed with tower shields and platemail...well that's just one helluva army right there. ^_^

Just to press my totally off topic point: Here's what I'd have imagined a Gondorian soldier looking like, a brief doodle of mine:

I also think the casting for the LotR movies was very very good! They did a good job, especially since they dug these guys up from nowhere! And they played amazingly well.

I might agree on the Witch King part. I would also argue that Damrod should be played by someone else!

Nice doodble, Apollo. I disgaree with the wings though - I'd imagine SKoDA wearing them, but otherwise it looks very nice indeed. The hauberk reminds me a lot of the Guard of the Fountain Court.

Sunny, Damrod said about 3 thinsg in LOTR:

"Nazgul..."
"My lord, Osgiliath is under attack, shall we call for re-inforcements?......Captain....?"
"Osgiliath Burns!!!!!"

I think he is played well enough for such a minor character.

I disagree with the WK. I mean, you don't even see the actor, it's just an entity with a fierce crown and dark robes

I was just talking about the appearence. Meh - he was all right. But I think Elrond should be played by someone else, although Hugo did a brilliant job as in acting.
