another article from the Librarium:

The hidden powerfist

Welcome all to another tactica. I will be detailing the concept of the hidden powerfist here for all of you who have been wondering.

Every Sergeant who will see close combat should be equipped with a powerfist. The only exception to this rule is lack of points to equip the sergeants as such. Lets go over the pros and
cons of a powerfist.

Pro’s
·Cheaper point cost for single wound models.
·Power weapon and hence ignores armor saves
·Doubles the users strength, allowing them to hurt ANY model in the game and auto kill most of them.

Con’s
·Forces the model to attack with an initiative of 1

Now, this negative is devastating for Independent characters and is why IC’s should NEVER be equipped with power fists.

Consider:

Independent characters are treated as separate units in close combat. As such, they can be easily singled out and attacked. If an independent character goes last, your opponent
will be able to take all their attacks against your IC before you can retaliate. Many times killing your IC before he can attack. This is especially true when fighting other independent
characters. For this reason, you should never give an IC (your HQ’s) a powerfist (as well as it being rather expensive for the deathtrap it is). However, this is also the same reason
that every sergeant should have one.

Sergeants are not independent characters. As such, when part of a squad, you can allocate wounds to whichever models you like. The last of witch will be the sergeant. What this means is that for your opponent to eliminate the powerfist, they must first kill all other members of the squad. Not an easy feat against power armored marines. Because of this, your sergeant is nearly guaranteed his chance to attack hence all but negating the only negative of the powerfist.

Why should you use a powerfist?

The main reason is that when a model has double your strength in toughness, you cannot wound them. As such any model with a toughness of 8 or higher are immune to marines in close combat. I have seen countless squads fall to such models. Most notable of these are the C’tan of the Necrons. Many a player has found his entire army whipped out simply because they did not have the required strength to retaliate against it.

The second reason is that if you have a strength double the toughness of your opponent, one successful hit against them will kill them regardless of how many wounds they have. What this means is that a sergeant with a powerfist can kill an opposing character with a toughness of 4 or lower with a single hit. There is little as satisfying as seeing a 100+ point HQ of your opponent turned to goop by a lowly sergeant. The ability to auto kill most opposing figures (and hence lower the amount of dice you need to succeed in killing the character) goes a long way to making squads effective

In conclusion, the hidden powerfist is not hidden in the sense that your opponent cannot see it. It is hidden from being wounded and hence nullified. Without it, there are many dangers our marines will have a tough time dealing with and as such I urge you to equip them to any sergeant that you intend to see close combat.

May the Emperors light guide you,

"Should you ever feel agony for the loss of your Brothers due to enemy guns, bear through it with a stern smile and let your enemy know that you will get into combat soon enough. His judgement cannot be avoided!

Should your charge falter under heavy resistence, roar your devotion in His name and amount whatever strength you have left at one enemy point and crush it utterly! Let the enemy feel your pain by turning their's into agony!

Should you lay beaten and dying on the field, laugh with pride for even in death our enemies will fear us, leave them with a scar that will haunt them till the time of their retribution!" - Chaplain Valorus

HIC, I demand that you bludgeon yourself with a rock until your mental status returns to the level of a rapist who calls back to apologise! Your use of elaborate language and words is making me uneasy. Although, I am somewhat relieved to see that your punctuation remains shit-based.
