Hey guys, I'm back :) What's happening?

150 000th post!!!

Posted by Lord Sunnycool (Lord of the Forums) at Jul 28 2009, 05:31 PM. 73 comments

This post is the 150 000th one in the recorded history of The White Counsil.

That's some achievement, you guys! Thanks to all those who have contributed and of course especially to those who still contribute to this awesome community!

150 000...damn that's a lot :D

24th of July 2009

Posted by Lord Sunnycool (Lord of the Forums) at Jul 24 2009, 03:31 PM. 67 comments

On this day we have made more posts than any other day since the 27th of April! And that is at 16:27 (GMT +1 )

EDIT: As of 21:31 (GMT +1) we now have to go all the way back to the 31st of March for a day with more posts!!!

We all know that the vacations are to be blamed for the lack of activity. Hell - I was gone for 17 days, right? But I just wanted to say that we can do it - all it takes is posting, posting, posting. New topics go a long way to boost activity as well. Don't give up, guys!

And also - thanks a million to those who have stuck around. I am especially positively surprised at the large activity of members like Jimjjo, Wuzaa and HIC, who are not into FHaG, but still post a lot. Yes, a part of it is crap ( :p ), but they help keep Off Topic alive. Thanks, you guys.

Also the return of Jack and the "cameo appearence" of Calaros could be a good indication of some members returning. That's awesome.

Keep it up you guys.

Oh and as of today the 26th of June shall be known as a national day of mourning here at TWC, because the community only managed to produce ONE single post! It shall henceforth be named the Day of Shame. Let it not repeat!

Several members have contributed with at least one banner each and I must say that the forum community has quite a lot of image-editing members now. I am very impressed and now it is time to pick the new banner for TWC.

Good luck to all participants! :)

Fourth Anniversary Celebration Continues

After the great celebration that began on March 27th, the fourth anniversary of the White Counsil’s founding, things continued to go strong. In the Anniversary topic, things started to get a bit on the humorous side after Alex commented that the Word Association thread, which was the created on the first day of the forum and is still going strong, will last forever. Sunny replied by saying, “As will TWC.” Gorfang then joked that many years from now everyone will have left TWC, but he can see Sunny, “old, decrepit…with a big grey beard that has been growing for several decades…[groaning], ‘No, no, no, I... won't... let that... happen.’” Andy quipped that that would not happen, as Sunny, “would not be shaving by then.” There was also a topic on how everyone joined TWC, and many members told their stories; most members came to TWC through other forums, notably Crack of Doom and The Desert Sands, while several arrived via the now-defunct Games Workshop forums.

As a result of the celebration of the anniversary, Sunny also instituted a contest for members to create a new Fourth Anniversary banner. There have only been several entries so far, but in lieu of normal voting, everyone seemed to agree that the banner posted by Lilkate was the best, and that appears to be the current choice for the new banner.

Roleplaying Gets Its Own Section; GW Demoted

The General Roleplaying Forum, previously home to several of the White Counsil’s roleplays, was recently expanded from a Forum to an entire Section, with the four new forums in the section being the General Roleplaying Forum, the Soldiers of Fortune Forum, the Heroes RP Forum, and the Valinas RPG Forum. Meanwhile, the Games Workshop forums were demoted to a single forum, although the changes have been going slow and Sunnycool has been having difficulties making everything run smoothly.

Roleplaying Updates and News

The past two weeks have been very exciting in the roleplaying world.

In the White Realm RPG, a massive battle erupted in Amei, with Mordain, Nathaniel, and a group of pirates fighting to save a boy Kristian from Krodalis and his minions. Krodalis needed the boy to unlock more of his power, as the power is locked within Kristian’s bloodstream. The battle began in the streets of Amei, and Mordain’s father was able to grab Kristian and pull him away from Kassandra, one of Krodalis’s servants, and tried to escape. Meanwhile, two of Krodalis’s other minions, Nhazhan, a plague-infested former human, and Anailla, a seraphim, attacked Mordain and Nathaniel. Into the midst of this chaos, the monks of Aracen arrived, seeking out Mordain, but upon seeing the evil that Mordain and Nathaniel were battling, they decided to put their differences aside and attack Krodalis’s servants. Nathaniel, however, blew the monks off and rushed ahead during a fight with Anailla, subsequently being killed in the crossfire. Mordain grappled with a mysterious immortal, but by the end of the battle, he had taken Kristian away and Nhazhan and Anailla had fled with Krodalis. Only the monks and the nameless man remained, battling in the streets while Mordain and Kristian rushed towards Asulien. In Asulien, James learned that Lord Aldron and his men, sent south to Ataya to help rebuild the south, had discovered that undead had erected a fortress in a town east of Ataya and were building up a force there from graveyards and surrounding villages. James immediately ordered a platoon of his Royal Guard to accompany him south to personally lead the Weisslander forces against the undead. North of the White Realm, a large Realmer army is marching into Shiverland, making ready to attack the fortress of Gar Dora to use it as a forward operating base. Meanwhile, three necromancers are preparing to defend Gar Dora, while an army of Lizardmen and Ahm-Sherans are marching north to aid the Realmers at the battle, if they make it in time.

In the New World RPG, Patrick bartered with Gula to exchange his life for Christine’s freedom. Gula agreed and led Patrick off to be tortured, but in the middle of the night, Christine, with the help of some other slaves, broke free and made a run for it, freeing Patrick along the way. While fleeing, they were attacked by guards, and Gula and Patrick fought several times. Uncal natives attacked the city to help the slaves, and a brief skirmish ensued. Patrick killed Gula by cutting into his head with a tomahawk, but while rushing over to Christine, he was shot in the back and killed, dying in her arms. Meanwhile, the airship carrying Graham, Hattori, and Laura reached Providence. In the city, Lieutenant Preston, the officer in command of the troops who fired into the crowd in front of the treasury house, came to Jack Adams’s office and asked for representation, as he was charged with murder.

In the Soldiers of Fortune RPG, the team has been given an objective to take out a bridge and a railroad track in a Chinese city, with the team splitting up into two sub-teams. Andy, Ray, and MacLeod left to destroy the railroad tracks while Rayce and Marksteiner deployed in the other chopper to destroy the bridge.

A new RPG called the Valinas RPG is starting in its own brand-new forum. It takes place in a custom fantasy world and is being played using Dungeons and Dragons rules. We are still getting things going, so if you want to play, just roll down to the Valinas RPG forum and post, or PM Hotshot, the Games Master.

Signature of the Month Competition

Daemon changed the Signature of the Week Competition into the Signature of the Month Competition because of lack of participation and in an attempt to get more entries from the participants. Andy, Beregond, and Gorfang have all entered so far, but there are still fifteen days left until the contest ends on May 1, so if you enjoy making signatures or playing with Photoshop, or just want to see the entries, go to the topic at http://s10.zetaboards.com/TheWhiteCounsil/topic/7114635/1/.

Video Game Review: Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X.

The latest edition to the fictional Tom Clancy videogame universe is H.A.W.X., a near-future flight simulator that aims to give the player a feel for what flying some of the most advanced aircraft in the world would be like; whether or not it actually does so can be debated.

When starting up H.A.W.X., I immediately began drawing comparisons with the Rogue Squadron series. With easy-to-learn flight controls and some amazing gameplay, Rogue Squadron and particularly its first sequel, Rogue Leader, set the bar for flying games across many consoles. When first playing and analyzing the controls, they seemed to be very familiar. The R trigger is accelerate and the L trigger is brake, as it was in Rogue Leader, and while missiles and the cannon are reversed (A and B as opposed to B and A), the missiles are the primary combat mechanism and so it felt natural to be mapped at A. However, the sticks are somewhat different and took some getting used to, as the RB and LB triggers are used to slide slowly right and left, while the left stick is used to roll and turn and the right stick to change the camera. It is somewhat difficult to change your alignment just a tad, and I found myself wishing I either had a joystick or that the left stick could be used to slide left and right rather than using the awkward bumpers. Once I got into the game and after a few run-throughs on the first mission, I found myself becoming rather comfortable with the controls, although there were a few times that I still got frustrated with the controls.

An odd thing about the game is that in the future, aircraft seemed to have been significantly downgraded. Their missiles now have a very limited range, and you can only lock on and fire your missiles at near point-blank range, when you can visually see your targets. In modern fighters, missiles can be fired at several miles away, with only radar to see your targets and know if you hit them or not. Also, helmet-linked HUDs, which allow the pilot to lock onto any target he is looking at, are not present in H.A.W.X., instead forcing the player to line up the front of his plane almost directly with his target in order to lock on and fire, even in cockpit and helmet modes. Finally, the fighters can carry what seems like an unlimited amount of missiles. Throughout the missions I played, I never ran out of missiles to fire, which seemed very odd to me.

However, those are the cons, and the pros make up for it. While the weapons systems seem to be a bit oddly-represented, it’s all in the name of fun, and this game can truly deliver on that. The planes all handle very differently, with craft such as the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter being fast, nimble, and geared for air-to-air combat, while ground attack fighters such as the A/V-8B are slower, more sluggish, but packed with ground-attack weapons good for attacking tanks and other ground targets. The missions, while familiar from previous flight games and including things such as protect a large aircraft, providing ground support, and just taking out other planes, are nevertheless very fun and provide numerous objectives that must be prioritized by the players. Harkening back to Rogue Squadron, the protection missions provide the most drama by requiring the most skill and prioritization by the player in order to keep your objective from being destroyed or killed. The odd Assistance technique was highly-toted before the game was released, and pulls the camera far away from the player and takes away any sense of actually being the pilot, replacing it with a feeling of being a puppeteer, which is overwhelmingly disappointing.

H.A.W.X. is a good game with some poor mechanics that nonetheless survives because it’s just so damn fun to play. There will be some minor annoyances and a brief learning curve at the beginning, but after a while you can get over that and just have fun playing the game.

Pros: Lots of fun to play, good plane mechanics, some good, stressful moments.
Cons: Poor realism for a Clancy game, odd “Assistance,” sometimes annoying controls
Replay Value: Medium

Final Score: 7.8/10

Movie Review: I Love You, Man (rated R)

Guys are guys. Every guy knows that there are certain things that women just don’t understand, and other things that are kept in conversations between men. We don’t know why we do it, but we just do; it’s the unwritten Code of Men. Somehow, Peter Klaven never got that memo.

Peter, played by Paul Rudd, gets engaged to his girlfriend of six months, Zooey (Rashida Jones). While Zooey is extremely happy and rushes to tell all of her close friends, Peter oddly has no one that he wants to call, and the few people he does tell mostly seem uninterested. Eventually, we learn that Peter has never had any close male friends, that he has always been a “girlfriend guy.” Realizing that he needs to find a best man for his wedding, Peter begins on a search for a best friend, and, as the adage goes, hilarity ensues. Peter is set up on a series of disastrous “man dates,” including one with a man who is actually gay (although Peter does not know this, and it provides a running joke throughout the film). Finally, after he has given up all hope, he finds a “cool guy” in Sydney, whom Peter meets at an open house of his, and the movie really picks up from there.

After meeting Sydney is where the movie really shines, as the moments between Peter and Sydney are the funniest in the entire film. Peter is funny because of his almost feminine temperament, while Sydney tries to “man him up,” bringing out Peter’s inner man. The movie has many funny points, but it also manages to flip things around on the viewer with a very well-thought-out and well-presented surprise. The actors and actresses play their part well, and I left the theater laughing. The only thing that I feel could have been better are the one-liners. Comedy movies often succeed based on their rememberability, and while I can remember that I Love You, Man was funny, I can remember very little of what was actually said. All in all, however, it was a great movie, and definitely worth seeing.

Final Score: 8.0/10

The White Counsil Celebrates Fourth Anniversary!

The White Counsil celebrated the fourth anniversary of its creation on March 27th, 2009. There was little fanfare on the actual day, with only three members heralding the important date, but as a whole, the forum was somewhat inactive, and the topic celebrating the anniversary was eclipsed for most of the day by Alex posting the Forum Awards topic after the anniversary topic. However, upon Sunnycool’s return to active posting on the 28th (he returned with a post or two on the 27th), the anniversary was well-celebrated, with many members making posts about their memories and how great the forum has been for them the last few years. Sunny praised what the forum has done and how thankful he is for everything it has taught him, from painting to stories to written English, but most importantly, Sunny said, “…it has given me a large quantity of amazing friends, whom I have not met in real life (yet?), but whom I truly see as friends, whom I trust as friends and who should, like me, be proud to be a part of this awesome community!” Sunny then sent out a bulk email, inviting old members back, and Lieutenant of Morgul and The East both made posts in the topic after not having posted in some time. Many members praised Sunny and the other Mods and Admins who gave them, as HIC put it, “an awesome forum…and some great times.” Andy noted that while, “the focus changes quite often,” if the forum, “can keep lots of focuses like at the moment we will be doing very well.” Sunny later commented on how while the activity is not quite as feverous as it was when the forum began in 2005, it has stabilized to a very respectable level after some great droughts of inactivity in 2006 and 2007. He cited such additions as the Roleplaying forums and the IPU headquarters as things which have helped keep activity going, and was happy that the number of active users is increasing rather than decreasing as it had in past years.

The Fourth Annual Forum Awards

The Fourth Annual Forum awards have come to a close, with Gorfang and Andy combining to win two-fifths of the awards. They both won five awards, each tying for one, while Alex was in third place with three awards won. In terms of individual votes, Andy was first with 36 total votes, Gorfang 35, and Hotshot 17, although he won only won award. Those three were also the only competitors for All-Around Forumer of the Year, but Gorfang was the winner of that category, winning 4-3-1. In other awards, Andy won best Moderator/Admin, Ariakas leaving was voted the most memorable moment, and Gorfang won both the Biggest Contributor to FHaG and Most Involved Roleplayer. Full results can be found http://s10.zetaboards.com/TheWhiteCounsil/topic/7113069/1/ . Congratulations to all winners and thank you to all voters. Hopefully there will be more involvement next year.

Roleplaying Updates and News

In roleplaying news, things have slowed down a bit recently, but plots are still moving forward.

In the White Realm RPG, Alisha Morlan, daughter of Rakdal Morlan, finally reached Asulien and revealed to James Castoden that she is a distant relative of him, the descendant of a Tiffany Morlan who had an affair with Tilarem Castoden many years before, expecting that that information would convince James to send troops to Ahm-Shere to aid in an overthrow of the government there. However, James responded by throwing Alisha out of the throne room. Mordain and Nathaniel continued on towards Amei to stop a great evil, Krodalis, from taking a young boy named Kristian. Kristian holds some of the power of Krodalis in his bloodline, and Krodalis hopes to gain some of his power back from the boy. He sent servants to Amei to retrieve the boy under Kassandra, who also hired mercenaries to help her.

In the New World RPG, Patrick and Christine were captured by natives working under Gula. Patrick asked to be taken to the Wednat chief, and Gula agreed to allow him an audience with the chief, but only after they had taken the two prisoners onboard Nehkus’s airship. When Patrick tried to barter for Christine’s release, the natives refused, and Nehkus took them to the Vale, a hidden hideaway for criminals and scoundrels deep in the wilderness. There, Patrick and Christine were imprisoned separately, with the thieves intent on selling Christine into slavery. Meanwhile, Nathaniel and Hattori, along with Laura, headed back towards Providence on Nathaniel’s airship and Crimson acquired ten of her barrels of gunpowder, a third of what she needed. Back at the Vale, Patrick finally convinced Gula to release Christine in exchange for his own life. A mysterious servant of Nathaniel Drakkon was also introduced, and they shared a vague and mysterious conversation about plans and phases. The New World RPG seems to be heading for very exciting times.

In the Soldiers of Fortune RPG, the team has returned to their base behind Russian lines and have begun to work on their next objective, a dual demolitions operation blowing up a stretch of railroad tracks and a bridge in two locations at the same time. Andy Black and Bobby Marksteiner rejoined the team in Russia to prepare for the upcoming mission.

The Zombie RPG, entitled “Hydra,” has begun in the General Roleplaying Forum.

The War simulation is still looking for interested members. The simulation involves a war between two countries fighting over oil supplies, and you can sign up to be a part of the operational team for one of the countries at http://s10.zetaboards.com/TheWhiteCounsil/topic/7108990/1/ .

If you are at all interested in joining any of the RP’s, be it the White Realm, New World, Soldiers of Fortune, Hydra, or War, just PM either myself, Andy, or Gorfang, as all of us can help you get into the roleplays.

Video Game Team Tournament

There is a team-based video game tournament being set up on The White Counsil. The way it will work is that there will be two teams from which players will participate in several video games, ranging from shooters, to strategy games, to whatever else is suggested and possible. Call of Duty 4 is currently the only decided-upon game for the tournament, but there will be others. Teams have not yet been formed, and we are looking for more participants. If you are interested in joining and participating, post in the topic at http://s10.zetaboards.com/TheWhiteCounsil/topic/7111432/1/ .

Writing Competition

After a much-delayed period of judging, Lord Sunnycool announced that Andy had won the latest Writing Competition. Sunnycool also congratulated Gorfang and Hotshot on well-written pieces. The theme was Mistake, and Andy’s story was set during World War I and dealt with a flashback of a soldier to a previous time. Gorfang’s story was set in the near future and was about a cop who decided to avenge his murdered family. Hotshot’s story was set in modern-day Iraq and told about a US Marine Corporal who had to come face-to-face with his morals in combat. The entries can all be read at http://s10.zetaboards.com/TheWhiteCounsil/topic/7086177/4/ .

IPU and O-Game News

The official IPU Big Hit Hunt Competition has officially begun, kicking off on Monday, March 23rd. The Competition is divided up into five divisions based on player points, allowing players with different amounts of points to compete against each other. The divisions are from 0 to 10,000 points; 10,001 to 50,000 points; 50,001 to 100,000 points; and 100,001 to 200,000 points; and 200,001 to 500,000 points. The competition ends on May 23rd, so good luck to all members of IPU who are taking part and good hunting.

Signature of the Week Competition

The Signature of the Week Competition #3 was won by High Marshal Andy with his Muse signature. SOTW Competition #4, on which the topic was War, was closed on March 22 with the results upcoming. SOTW Competition #5, with the topic of Video Games, has opened and is currently taking entries. Congratulations to Andy and good luck to all entries in the competitions.

Video Game Review: World at War Downloadable Content
by Jimjjo

Well, the map pack was released on March 19th along with a double experience rewards week. 3 new MP maps and a new zombie map.

The first of the MP maps is Nightfire, set in Berlin. It's dark and quite big, much like Knee Deep, the second map. A lot of the buildings are lit by flames and once you get used to it, it's easy to work your way around. This map is good for Team Deathmatch and Domination as there are lots of paths around the map which make it easy to get to objectives.

The largest and most confusing map is Knee Deep. It's set in a village on Peliliu and has a mix of buildings and jungle areas. It is very good for Search and Destroy and equally good for Team Deathmatch.

The final MP map is Station. Set in the single-player level Eviction, where you have to clear out the underground train station, this is a wide-stretched map which is good for all game types. I prefer this map for Search and Destroy out of all of the maps but it is also a good map for Headquarters and War.

The last Map in the Map Pack is Zombie Verruckt which is an addition to the much-enjoyed bonus game type 'Nazi Zombies'. It is based in an abandoned German Asylum (which is where the name comes from, Verruckt is Crazy or Insane in German.) and has new features compared to the original Nacht der Untoten. There are 4 new Perk-a-Cola machines scattered around the Asylum and you have to switch on a generator to turn on the Perk Machines and the Electric Shock Defences. The real aim is to survive as many rounds as possible, but most people just try and turn the power on.

The Cost of the Map pack is 800 microsoft points on Xbox 360 (that's £6.80 or $10.00) and £8.00 or $9.99 on PS3.

For all the value above, I would rate the map pack 7/10 but that's only because of the new zombie map. If it was just the 3 individual maps, then I would give it 5/10 because the maps are fun at first. However, you get to know them, find spots that you think no-one knows and then you get into another game and find people who know the maps more than you and can exploit your hiding spots. It generally gets boring after a while.

Final Rating:[b/] 7.0/10

Movie Review: Quantum of Solace
by Alex

Filming a sequel to a truly brilliant movie is not an envious task for any director. In 2006, the pulse-pounding thriller that was Casino Royale burst onto cinema screens as the most highly-anticipated James Bond film in decades, as the series went back to basics. Gone were the absurd villains and limitless henchmen, gadgets and the indestructible cars with rockets behind the headlights and ejector seats. James Bond was no longer a secret agent who spoke solely in double-entendres, but now a remorselessly efficient soldier who was tortured both physically and mentally with the loss of his beloved Vesper.

Born was the real James Bond; a man with a cold and ruthless persona that was typified by his bullish confidence. Daniel Craig had won over the critics he had gained when he took up the title of 007. Ian Fleming’s character was now portrayed as he had intended, and the viewing public loved it, as Casino Royale rebooted the series into what it was always intended to be.

Craig’s performance was exceptional. Coupled with a superbly-written script, Casino Royale left us begging for me. The bar had been raised, and James Bond was back to his swaggering best. Expectation was so high that the follow-up, Quantum of Solace, was a certainty to disappoint. After all, how could the film makers possibly produce a sequel that betters its predecessor? And following the release of the film in October 2008, the movie failed to live up to the hype. Critics cited that, in stark contrast to Casino Royale, the plot lacked depth and was predictable, and the performance of Craig alone was what prevented the movie from

Whilst Quantum of Solace was not the film many James Bond fans expected, it would be ridicule to consider it a poor addition to the franchise, when, in truth it is quite the opposite. With more of the high-octane thrills and spills we were treated to in Craig’s debut, the action is once again first-rate. Picking up almost immediately after the conclusion of Casino Royale, it is the sound of the Aston Martin DBS’ engine we are first acquainted with once more. One stunning car chase later, and Bond and his cargo – Quantum member Mr White – arrive in Siena.

As stated beforehand, the action is non-stop, and this is perhaps the film’s greatest fault. Whilst the viewer is left on the edge of their seat as Bond and his feisty female accomplice Camille Montes traverse the world on a two-man crusade to stop Dominic Greene from taking over Bolivia’s water supply, the film feels somewhat stretched, with the adventure changing country and continent without a word of warning.

But whilst the plot lacks the magic Casino Royale possessed, the cast measures up to the task of carrying the film. Craig is superb as Bond, giving the character the sexy, steely edge as depicted in Fleming’s books. Mathieu Almaric puts in a good performance as Greene, the film’s primary villain, and Olga Kurylenko’s portrayal of Camille earned her a nomination for the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress. But out of Craig’s co-stars, it is Dame Judi Dench who steals the show with a brilliant performance as M. Unlike Casino Royale, Bond’s relationships with MI6 Agent Fields and Camille are pushed to the ground in order to show the building of trust between him and his superior. Whilst previous M’s have shown distaste towards Bond’s methods, Dench’s interpretation of the character shows how the pair have a ‘love-hate’ relationship which sparks scenes of great understanding and disdain between the duo.

In truth, Quantum of Solace is an excellent film. It might not have the iconic image of Casino Royale, but it is a brilliant sequel. Casino Royale was glitz and glamour, and its sequel shows the reverse of Bond – wounded and dangerous.

If you’re expecting Roger Moore-like one-liners, Pierce Brosnan’s gadgets or Sean Connery’s charismatic personality, you’ll be disappointed. If you’re expecting traditional Bond, don’t buy the DVD. But if you liked Casino Royale, it doesn’t take a genius to say that you’ll like Quantum of Solace. It’s more of the same, and that’s what we want, isn’t it?

Editorial

Four years ago, I went on the GW forums, intent on learning more about 40k. Then I began to learn more about the LOTR strategy game, and on that forum saw a link for The Desert Sands. Created by Mardat, this was an awesome little forum and I still have very fond memories of it, although unfortunately it has been inactive for almost three years now and I haven’t talked to Mardat in about that long. I met Alex in the early days of TDS, and he advertised for The White Counsil, a website he was a member of. I did not join immediately, going to the link several times, looking around, and deciding it was not for me. Finally, Alex convinced me to join, and it was a great decision. I was welcomed immediately and although I butted heads with some of the less-than-popular members of the forum (ie Jannick and the Corsairs) during my time here and gotten into a few arguments, I honestly am glad I came to The White Counsil and gotten involved with the awesome things here. I’m glad that the roleplay has become so successful and that the spin-off is doing just as well, and I hope they, as well as the site, continues. Congratulations, TWC.

TWC Admin Assistant Job Offer(s)

Posted by Lord Sunnycool (Lord of the Forums) at Apr 1 2009, 11:07 AM. 23 comments

All right. I just realized that ZetaBoards allows regular members to receive limited admin powers in different categories so that they can help out the admins in these areas.

The official title is "Admin Assistant" and the following "Manager Positions" are available:

Member Managers
Can process name change requests, process new account request, and edit member accounts.

Theme Managers
Can add, edit, or remove themes, emoticons, and gallery avatars.

Domain Managers
Has full access to the domain manager.

Website Managers
Has full access to manage webpages

---

Now, the job that I can offer are the "Theme Manager".
The others are not needed (at the moment), although Website Manager may appear as a job offer soon.

THEME MANAGER

Having one or more Theme Managers would mean that we would be able to have a lot more themes much faster (since I don't have the time to look for them right now). That would of course increase the customization options for all members of the community, which is highly desirable!

Job requirements:
The member must be responsible and serious about the job. Knowledge about ZetaBoards themes/skins and how to add them is needed. Such knowledge can easily be acquired by experimenting with a test ZetaBoards forum and help from http://zbthemezone.com/index/

Job limitations:
We do not want the Theme Manager to fiddle with the themes that are already up by other admins/theme managers. They must only work with the themes that they themselves add to the list. Violation of this will be visible to the admins and would result in immediate firing of the guilty Theme Manager.

Payment:
A post boost of 20 posts is awarded for each succesfully added theme. Special bonuses for popular themes as well as for high productivity will also be given. Additionally, the succesful adding of at least 5 themes will qualify the responsible Theme Manager for a Medal.
Most importantly, the position is very honourable. A good Theme Manager may eventually find himself outranking a poor Moderator.

TWC Memories

Posted by Lord Sunnycool (Lord of the Forums) at Mar 29 2009, 09:06 AM. 11 comments

Well - since the community has existed for four years, we are all bound to have dozens of memories from our time in this place.

As such, this topic has been created so that you may all share your funniest, craziest, coolest or saddest TWC memories with the rest of the community. You don't necessarily have to post them all at once, but when they come to mind, share them with us - you might bring back memories for other members as well ;)

---

One of the most interesting TWC memories for me dates back to the first few months of the community. Dylan (mordor) was posting like insane. He was posting a lot and he was writing most of it in txt and he was the first, true spammer to hit TWC. He is indeed a legend in Spamith Village :p

Anyways - his spamming became too excessive at one point and at that time Chris, Ariakas and I decided to act. Following another spamming spree, Chris and Ariakas suspended him for a short while and then his fate was decided by having the entire community vote.

Because of this first big conflict in TWC's time, I found it to be quite a big deal. So I took the whole fantasy/medieval concept that had inspired me to create the mod groups "Branalbinn's Guard" and "Warriors of Mjolnir" and decorated Ariakas and Chris with a couple of medals for their work against spam and more concretely against Dylan. This topic was created on May 15, 2005. It described two members of the community as if they were heroes from a fantasy tale. Inspired by this concept, Ariakas described some events in the early history of the White Counsil in a fantasy-esque way as well. This then inspired me to create the concept of "For Honour and Glory" - the White Counsil's own, collaborative fanfic project!

Interesting how a filthy spammer was the spark that in extension gave birth to TWC's greatest asset - For Honour and Glory. :)

How did you join TWC?

Gorfang I think was the first to post his tale of how he joined TWC in the "Happy Anniversary" topic and Jimjjo followed shortly afterwards. I think it would be cool to see people's "joining stories". :)

New Banner

Our official TWC banner is now outdated, since we are celebrating our 4th anniversary now. We will see if Pezza comes back to give us a new one, but having seen all the wonderful talented photoediting members in our community - especially Ogame members - I think that people should have a try on a new banner and then we pick the best one.

The dimensions should be around the dimensions of our current banner and a medieval/fantasy theme is (at least in my eyes) prefered, although do not let that limit your creativity.

Let's see what you can come up with :D

Winner gets 100 posts as a prize ;wink;
