The beat of music sent vibrations through the soles of her boots and pounded against her ear drums at a low steady hum , throbbing in her temples in a way that reminded her of being underwater. Shev’la shifted through the crowd, parting them like a shark’s fin breaking the ocean. Everywhere she looked there were bodies of varying tones of red, lively smiles and the constant back and forth sway of hips and legs alive with dance.

The lights above shifted through colored lenses and strobe effects and the closer to the bar the armored woman strode, the thicker the ring of socialites became.

As She parted them with her hands a familiar back turned at the bar could be seen: dusty and armor clad, a short male with thick brown hair seated next to a bored looking Zeltron with bad posture. Shev’la made her way to them before being halted by two young women.

They locked arms side to side with the jovial smiles of intoxicated bliss only Zeltron’s could muster and gazed into the unexpressive gold visor of the woman before them; Skin tight, florescent dressed frames reflected in her helmet.

“What’s the password ?“asked one with a giggle, her partner laughed and looked at her with confusion.

“There’s a password?”

Shush!

Shev’la stood on her tiptoes, looking past them with urgency.

“well-”

The Zeltron road block was met with 4 rapid palm strikes in quick succession aimed at her nose. Recoiling in pain and shock she crumbled, bringing her hands to cup her broken face while her sister let out a wail of high pitched terror as thick sanguine poured from between her friend’s fingers.

Stepping over them, Shev’la came to the man at the bar’s side.

He turned at a tap on his shoulder and smiled, stubble above his lips pulled tight as he brought up his own gloved hand to top hers. Lohman, Demagol, her husband.

The Zeltron he was conversing with sat up from her slouched position.

“I thought you said she was a Tusken.” She said, looking the newest Mandalorian addition up and down.

Lohman’s eyes were naturally narrow but they were more so at that moment because of the wild light variation in the room.

“Shev’la,” He said clearing his throat and rising from his seat. He pulled it out to offer it to his woman and she accepted it with a nod.

“This is Terinah.” He said, “The woman who thinks we’re only worth ten thousand creds.”

The Zeltron pursed her lips with annoyance and eyed her drink with mock interest.

“This is ridiculous…” she said quietly.

“Look lady, you can’t show off your scars to your mates if they’re all on your lungs!” Lohman threw up his hands and laughed, turning from her to mask his ire.

“50. That’s the going rate.” He added, pointing his finger.

“No way!” she protested leaning forward and suddenly irate.

“It’s a get in and go mission it won’t take you more then five minutes!”

“Five minutes in an area that’s killed men in two.”

Shev’la looked up to her husband for answers and he sighed.

“She wants us to pick up her sister-”

“My cousin.” Terinah corrected with a sneer.

Lohman paused, glaring at her with his palm out before continuing in a tone of irritation:

“She wants us to pick up her cousin in the 34th civi sector on triple zero- The one that’s been quarantined for the past week.”

Shev’la slowly crossed her arms and relaxed, facing her client.

“She has to get out of there, She doesn’t even live there!” The Zeltron pled.

“ She was watching it for a friend…”

“So what, we bring her back and spread whatever’s been killing the cors who don’t have a clean filter in their mask?”

“They don’t know that its deadly!”

“6 people are dead! Everyone there is sick with it and they don’t even know what it is-”

“She’s not!”

The bar seemed to quiet at Terinah’s outburst.

“She’s not sick…” she reiterated. “But they won’t let her leave. Please, she doesn’t belong there, she belongs here with me.”

Shev’la gesture with her fingers and Lohman passed her a small ink stick from his utility belt, pulling a napkin from under the zeltron’s drink she scribbled out a small increment and pushed it back towards her.

80,000 It read.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There was one too many people in the elevator and still 20 floors left. As the clear vessel descended down the hotel's side a little Mirialan girl pressed her nose to the glass, peering at the fenced off and tarp covered street several blocks away and not far below.

Lohman eyed her suspiciously, his wife at his side doing the same with less discretion.

He wasn't sure if It was the child Shev'la had taken such a strong interest in or the small stuffed bantha she held loosely at her side. He was never good at interacting with kids, perhaps it was a blessing in disguise he and Shev'la couldn't conceive.

"You okay to be in here by yourself, kid?" He asked awkwardly.

The little one didn't turn but replied.

"I'm fine. My Mom's in the lobby."

She turned, her little brow wrinkled with curious scrutiny.

"Are you Mandalorians?"

"We are." He said.

"My dad says you guys are mean," She looked to Shev'la who was leaning close, her hands on her bent knees.

"I've never seen a girl one before. That's cool." She held out her stuffed bantha like an offering to an animal.

"Go on, you can see." She said to the Masked Tusken who took it up to examine fondly.

"She doesn't look like a bad guy."

Lohman straightened his shoulders.

"How about me?" He asked.

"Yeah, you look like a bad guy." The Girl said, taking back her toy with a nod to Shev'la.

"Well maybe I should introduce myself to this dad of yours and change his mind." Lohman said, annoyed.

The child pointed to the quarantine.

"I wish you could." She said.

"He's down there..."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"You didn't say she was one of them!" A white haired human growled, jabbing his finger in Shev'la's direction.

"For all we know this is a terrorist attack gone wrong and-"

"Whoa whoa!" Lohman cooed, lifting his hands. He looked the part of a scruffy intellectual in his civilian attire; a crisp white shirt with a black coat and shiny shoes, even his hair was tamed and slicked back.

"She's just here for the muscle, I'm not risking the clinic and we both know tensions are high in there."

The elder human huffed.

"Just keep her under control and at the door. I don't want her frightening civilians "

"Of course." Lohman turned to leave.

"For god's sake man! Put on a suit!"

"Right."

The neighborhood was completely surrounded by a glass cover and could only be reached by the door beyond which was under heavy security... entering would require permission. Sneaking to the entrance was one thing but infiltrating the interior was another. Lohman Took on the persona and "Borrowed" identity chit of a medic on call to aid the clinic inside and managed to put on the act well enough to be granted entry- but not without donning the appropriate hazop mask and black cover.

With the crisp sound of a broken seal the pair entered the deserted civi sector.

The air was heavy and cloudy due to the filtration and failed purification....They crept quietly, feet crunching over trash and the occasional dropped belonging; everywhere were closed doors...frightened people hiding in their homes from the inevitable.

Lohman almost felt guilty; he could only imagine what the clinic actually looked like and his cover story about the overrun medics was probably not far from the truth. Once they were out of range of the security at the door he Lifted the large case at his side filled with supposed "supplies" and manipulated the strapping to wear it like a back pack.

"Damn. This thing feels lighter on..." He said.

Shev'la brought up her wrist mounted map and tapped their destination, just past the clinic.

He groaned.

"Great..."

Break walked out of the shadows holding his hat it was situations like this he was happy to be a force wielder allowed him to not contract what ever was going around in this part of corucant. He was conducting research on what might be causing the sickness for the Republic since he was there best intelligence agent. when he came across the two Mandalorians an insidious smile crept across his face, as he approached. "Ah you two by any chance you have a minute? I was wondering if you knew the best way to get to the clinic I seem to have gotten turned around, and by how you're dressed it looks like you're one of the doctors heading there?"

Lohman turned surprised by the presence of another person in such a cavalier manner.

"Oh...um.."

He looked to Shev'la and lowered his open palm behind his back to signal her to stand down.

"I was just on my way there its..." He stole a glance at Shev' la's wrist Gps

"Not far, we were just heading there."

Reaching out his hand he introduced himself under a false name.

"I'm Collin Trice."

"Took the words right out of my mouth," Lohman said, regarding his wife. She had a very particular way of standing when on edge and she had assumed it as they spoke. It was unnerving. He didn't appreciate the jab at his common sense but attempted to keep his temper under control- if worse came to worse he could easily do away with their feminine new companion.

"But I'm not a doctor." They began to walk, he had to keep his information straight and wouldn't risk any detection.

"At least not yet, I'm a nurse." Shev'la hadn't budged.

Quarantines were one of the many an odd habits the civilized world deemed normal, corralling the sick and dying into a tight confined space with little outside aid seemed like a backwards approach to a possible outbreak. Sure, the people who were infected needed to be kept away from others who had yet to catch the mystery illness, but such conditions the ill were forced to suffer in were far below the standards Sol would have anticipated. Unfortunately it was not the Jedi Masters place to question such things, only to try his best to alleviate some of the hardship as best as he could.

Sol Kavos had been sent by the order as a peace offering of sorts to the people of the Republic. It was no secret that unrest against the order of peace keepers had been growing since their last decline in helping with the war waged against the Mandalorians. Any kind of civil service had been cleared by the highest channels amongst the Jedi ranks in order not only bolster their image but to aid the tortured souls of the galaxy.

Honestly Sol wished he was anywhere else but where he was. Though he had no fear of catching whatever illness plagued the inhabitants of the Coruscant sector, due to his sterile habits while within the quarantine zone and his natural affinity to ward off illness due to the force, he did hate being constantly surrounded with such negative energies. All the innocent people who were suffering left a huge gash in the force, one that plagued the Jedi Master every moment he stayed within the guarded walls.

Standing from his kneeling position he had taken while using a light force heal on an injured soul, Sol spied a peculiar sight.

Amongst the sick, the dying, and the fearful, stood a two men and one woman, none of which seemed phased at all by the dire situation of the location they were in. Wiping his hands on his inner robes, Sol bade his most recent patient farewell and briskly walked over to the three individuals. As he drew nere however, his grip on the lightsaber tucked neatly into the sleeve of his robe tightened till his knuckles went white with pressure.

The woman, was wearing full Mandalorian armor, and though her posture did not seem to be threatening, one could never be too sure when around such a hostile people. As he closed the distance between him and the small group, Sol slowed his step and kept a good distance as he addressed them.

" Hello! Might I ask what you three are doing in such a restricted and downtrodden place? "

All the while his eyes stayed fixed to the woman. The Jedi knew all too well of the mandalorian people's fighting prowess, he would not give this woman a chance to strike if she did indeed prove hostile.

"Oh!!! that's to....." Break sensed the Jedi masters approach, his killer intent was vary strong and when he was cut off he acted surprised when the man spoke. "Ah this must be my lucky day, first I find someone to help me get back the Clinic, and now judging by you're artier I would say you're a Jedi?...... sorry rude of me to answer your question with another question. To answer your question, Master Jedi I am Xerxes Break of the Republic Intelligence Department, and this is Doctor... oh sorry you look like you could defiantly be a doctor." he said to Lohman, before continuing. "Nurse Trice, and his hired muscle....." Break frowned tipping his hat a bit in shame "sorry I didn't get your Mandalorian companions name?" he asked.

Lohman's mouth went dry and hung open, silently stuttering as his attention split between break and the jedi.

A jedi, he had not foreseen that. Panic startled to threaten his resolve.

"Uh, She's called..." He gestured to Shev'la in reply to break but his eyes were on Sol.

"The tusken."

Shev'la whipped around and stared him down with what he assumed to be a glare.

Stepping past her and offering his shaky hand to the master he nervously forced a smile; this would be only his second time ever dealing with a jedi...a people he'd been raised to mistrust and scorn.

"Please call me Collin'"

While under normal circumstance Sol would have taken the mans hand with little hesitation and the conversation would have been continued as normal. What made his encounter different however, is how each individual reacted to the Jedi's presence.

The man who introduced himself as Break instantly stood out from the crowd. While the man who was introduced as Collin oozed nervousness and agitation, though it was not uncommon for people to have such feelings when a Master Jedi randomly approached them, Break had such an overwhelming sense of blood lust or some type of malicious intent that was akin to being smothered in a room where all the air was replaced with a thick smoke.

Though normally he would have taken Collin's hand into his own and shook it, instead Sol hand instinctively gripped his saber and brought it into view from within his robes sleeve.

Pointing the un-ignited saber at the man who called himself Break, Sol took on a defensive stance and gave a warning.

" Step away from Collin and his companion immediately. You have 10 seconds to tell me who you really are and why you are here, otherwise I will be forced to use the powers given to me by the Jedi High Council to apprehend you and bring you in for questioning. "

Taking a step forward and redying his stance while keeping his lightsaber un-ignited still.

" Don't make me hurt you... "

Break was surprised at the Jedi's reaction but it wasn't un-expected. "Whoa please I'm not all that good at fighting." break said backing up some. "I already told you my name is Xerxes Break from the Republic Intelligence Department. I was sent with a troop detachment to secure the clinic and investigate the cause of the illness I can prove it" he said nervously rummaging through his coat and took out his badge identification, and a pad showing his orders from Republic HQ. Showing them to the Jedi, he then looked over to Lohman. "Did I do something to anger him?" he asked looking at the two for help with a frown. seeing they were just as worried about the Jedi as him.

Lohman lifted his hands and distanced himself from break with a shake of his head. As far as he was concerned they had just met and a stranger-let alone one who got in the way of their objective AND could potentially get the pair in a quarrel with a force user- wasn't worth sticking his neck out for.

Shev'la stepped in front of her husband protectively, playing the part of a merc loyal to his credit chip.

"I-I'm not involved!" he said, smiling in rueful, clammy alarm.

"I just met this man!" he ventured, pointing a finger at the one accused.

"how was I to know that he could be...whatever it is he is!"

" Do not attempt to hide behind ambient emotions! I felt your malicious intent, and not towards them... But towards me instead. Why would an agent of the Republic have such an overwhelming hate, such a burning urge to snuff the life out of one such as I? "

As Sol spoke he began circling around Break, doing his best to try and put himself between the Mandalorian and her charge and Break.

" I will say once more. Who are you? And why have you come to this place? "

"Thanks a lot Nurse!" Break said to Lohman then turning his attention back to the Jedi and frowned at the man not backing down after showing proof about who he was. Break was about to remudle when two republic troopers in sealed armor ran up to the group "Captain Break there you are we've been looking for you we got word of a disturbance at the apartment... huh?"

the two troopers raised there weapons and pointed them at the Jedi, and the Mandalorian. Break then raised his hand to have them stand down, lead the way trooper he said ignoring Sol now. "I would love to banter with you more master Jedi but I have more pressing matters to attend to lead the way corporal." he said walking off away from Sol and Lohman letting the troopers lead. 'looks like I'll have to work on masking my presence more, we'll meet again Jedi.' he thought to himself as he walked away towards the a for mentioned apartments.

With a flustered look Sol returned his saber to its hiding place inside the sleeve of his robes. There was nothing he could do to stop Break from leaving, quite the troubling incident indeed for the Jedi Master. The man seemed to be who he claimed, but the malevolent feeling that presided the Jedi and Break's meeting only deepened the mystery.

It was definitely something that needed to be discussed with the Council the next he visited the Jedi temple. Although he was not sure when that would be, Sol was known to have quite the adventurous spirit.

Turning to Collin and his bodyguard, Sol bowed deeply as he spoke.

" Apologizes to you and your.... guide.... Where exactly were you two headed? "

Lohman cleared his throat and stepped forward, bumping into Shev'la's protectively bent elbow. It made him feel annoyingly dismasculated and he shoved it aside, trying to mask it.

"The clinic...I have business there." He said; while he was relived one of the strangers had cleared their path- the jedi was the more troubling case...
