Hey guyyyyys!

My name is Nell, I'm twenty-one and I live in England! Wahey!

I've been making graphics for a few years now, but I suffered some major hardware failure around a year ago so I took an involuntary hiatus from all things computer-related and instead focussed on working and saving up for University next year (2013, I'll be studying English & Creative Writing, hopefully!).

Anyway, I love to create and I'm happiest when I'm writing, drawing, painting or fiddling around on photoshop, oh and getting my required dose of sci-fi and fantasy of course.

I'm a huge fan of LoTR, anything by Pratchett & Lewis, and I admire Anne Rice more than I can say. Basically, if there was a job where I could just read all day and review books and get paid for it, I would. I'm pretty sure there are a few lucky people in the world who do get to do that, but at the moment I'm not one of them :[

I'm an eclectic hippy by all accounts, I'm a bit mental too, though I like to think that makes me fun to be around :] I haven't really been 'active' in online communities for ages so I don't know anybody, though at the moment I'm working on an AU HP Pre-Potter RPG based around the first Order of the Phoenix and their battle with Voldemort, so uh, expect to see a lot of HP-themed graphics from me in the very near future.

So, back to my love of sci-fi...I'm obsessed. I'll quite happily watch Star Trek and Star Wars and Farscape and Stargate for hours upon hours and not get bored. I also love Battlestar Galactica <3 and I'm also certain that I've left out a whole bunch of stuff but I think I've rambled on enough for now, so...hey!

Hey Nell! My name's Mal and I am also 21, from England and a scifi nerd! -squish- and I study English at uni at the moment XD I really don't envy you starting in 2013, the fees are going to be terrifying D: But then again, I'm graduating this year and have no idea how to get a job, so I imagine I will be just as, if not more poor XD I'm currently reading a book about someone who reviews books and is struggling to write a novel, I'm just like "I wanna be you!" minus the struggling part though x3 and the being a character in a novel. I'm so mean to my characters, I would never want to be someone else's character in case they do half the things I do to mine XD Anyway, it's lovely to meet you, and I look forward to seeing you around the board =D

Hey! Hehe, I have my dad to thank for my sci-fi addiction, I don't think my mum's overly impressed though lmao XD and what's the name of the book?! Yeah, I'm absolutely awful to my characters too >.> I'd be dead if they ever somehow found a way to materialise outside of my imagination, they'd all be after my blood!

I've been working in a solicitor's office for a year and I just can't wait to get back into education x.x I definitely don't want to be doing the work I'm doing now for the rest of my life, I'm really eager to teach so I just hope it's worth the money in the long run D:

That's so weird, my dad's to blame for my taste in literature too - he read me the Hobbit and LotR when I was tiny and I've been in love with fantasy and scifi ever since, and my mum would always despair at me and try to get me to read 'the classics' XD I think I probably ended up striking a healthy balance (maybe) as my dissertation was on Jane Austen, but focused on Jane Austen and Horror (things like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and the like XD). I'm completely in the other boat to you - I really want to get out of education! I know I'm going to miss it so much when I'm gone, but the pressure here is insane, especially as my finals start in just over a week! It'll definitely be worth the money, though, and teaching is an awesome profession to go into =D much more fun than law XD The book's Our Tragic Universe by Scarlett Thomas. I am so in love with her novels and writing style. I sense this novel is gunna get pretty weird in the not too distant future; she has one called The End of Mr Y that starts off being about someone working on a PhD, then goes crazy into time travel and quantum physics and jumping around inside peoples heads. Yeaaah >.> It's brilliant though - once I've finished OTU I'll let you know if it's as good!

Same here! My dad would read to me every night, I think he read 1984 to me as well which isn't exactly bed-time reading to a kid but I was a bit older by then, but he would read the Hobbit to me and Lord of the Rings and he'd teach me what the words meant, so I have him to thank for my vocabulary definitely. He'd also read me Terry Pratchett novels (his books were some of the first I read independently) needless to say I was an absolute horror in school and refused to read 'Jack and Jill' books because I'd get bored and start to read them backwards haha!

Those books sound absolutely amazing, I'll have to have a look in Waterstones and see if they have them or can order them in - I hate online shopping >.> I dun like it, I'm so behind with the times >.<
