Welcome to Survival of the Fittest, a RPing board loosely based off of Koshun Takami's Battle Royale, with its own unique plot and spin on the 'deadly game'. We've been around quite a while, and are now in our thirteenth year, so don't worry about us going anywhere any time soon!

If you're a newcomer and interested in joining, then please make sure you check out the rules. You may also want to read the FAQ, introduce yourself and stop by the chat to meet some of our members. If you're still not quite sure where to start, then we have a great New Member's Guide with a lot of useful information about getting going. Don't hesitate to PM a member of staff (they have purple usernames) if you have any questions about SOTF and how to get started!

Let the games begin!

(Hannah Kendrickstone continued from The List of Adrian Messenger.)

Hannah hadn't seen anyone since she'd run away from the cabin. Part of her was wondering if she'd really been in danger back at the hunting cabin. Sure the junior had that saw, but Irene had Johnny Three and it's not like she would ever hurt anyone. The other part of her was sure that she almost definitely right to have run away. For sure. Hannah had her weapon out now, even if it was awkward to hold.

She looked up at the sky and saw what looked like dark clouds near the edge of the horizon. She pulled her scarf across her face, covering the bottom half. Hannah liked to wear it that way, and it could protect her face if it started to rain. She absently tapped the bill of her baseball cap. That could help too.

She saw a big blocky building nearby. It could be shelter if the rain she thought could happen did. She felt her foot curl a bit painfully in her shoe. Maybe she had another reason to seek shelter.

She opened the door to the entryway and stepped inside. She started to think it looked really dark inside when the door clanged shut loudly behind her.

Hannah made a sound of annoyance as the flashlight assaulted her retinas. It wasn't like had been trying to hide. It just turned out that when entering a building that was dark, it was hard to be seen. Just like she hadn't noticed the girl whose voiced sounded familiar. But when you went to school with someone she guessed she'd pick up people's voices somehow. Maybe the killers would put on funny character voices so people wouldn't recognize them in the dark. Hannah sometimes made her voice different when she was acting. She thought it helped build to the character she was playing.

Her grip tightened on the fabric-covered board in her hand.

She didn't have any evidence that the girl blinding her wasn't a killer other than that she hadn't attacked her physically yet.

"You're gouging out my eyes," she responded with a whiny huff. The hand holding the board gestured dramatically with it.

The light really did hurt. Couldn't this chick be cool?

The apology helped.

Hannah wasn't disposed to immediately trust whoever had shined the light right in her eyes, even if she was obviously cultured enough to reference The Bard. King Lear wasn't as good as Macbeth, of course, but it was still an excellent example of Shakespearian tragedy. Then again, Macbeth didn't even feature eye gouging. She idly wondered who was on the other side of the flashlight. The voice was familiar, but her own flashlight was in her bag. It was probably someone else from drama. Who else could think of that off the top of their heads? She was still seeing purple against the black darkness of the gym anyway, so she wasn't sure she'd see all that great even if she could.

The flashlight was now focused on the board and there was a question.

"The prop crew gave it to me," she responded, smiling slightly under her scarf.

It was a decent name for the terrorists. They had given all of them props to use. Hannah had the board. Irene had Johnny Three. The girl in front of her probably had something of her own as well.

"What'd you get?"

Hannah tensed up at the mention that the bat had served the girl well. What did that mean? She knew the girl was Junko now, and her name had not been on the announcements. Had she beaten someone with it? Her mind went back to the body that had been in the asylum. She hadn't looked closely enough to have processed how the girl had died. Someone being beaten to death would be so brutal, she thought. Not something that was suitable for most plays at all.

She took a single quick step back. Junko hadn't done anything to her yet. But the remark about the baseball bat could have been a subtle threat. Her grip on the board tightened and her knuckles hurt.

She wondered why Junko would have shown her face or bothered talking to her if she was just going to attack her. When it came down to it, it was possible she had a flair for the dramatic. After all if this was a scene being performed then of course there had to be some dialogue. Otherwise it would be boring.

"Just don't," she said, forcing herself to sound a lot more confident than she really felt.

Hannah's confidence had been shaken. It was like Junko was just toying with her, and Hannah wasn't sure what to think about that. All she'd wanted when she came inside was to check and see if anyone she really liked was inside, and maybe know if it would be a safe place to take shelter if the storm that was on the horizon finally came.

She had taken another short step back before the flashlight hit her again, and the arm that wasn't holding the board was now up protecting her eyes. It really hurt. Junko said she wasn't going to hit her with it, but how could Hannah really know? At minimum Junko wasn't being friendly.

"Not at all," she responded quietly.

As soon as it seemed safe and the flashlight wasn't going to drill holes through her eyeballs she'd probably leave. The situation was just too stressful and strange.

Hannah was thankful the light wasn't shining in her eyes anymore. Junko then went on about that Darius guy being a douche. Hannah wasn't sure if she should trust Junko about it, but she guessed if she ran into the other Cochise student with green streaks in their hair she'd keep it in mind.

She took another step backwards.

"Umm, no. Wait! That Alan Banks guy, oh and that Kaitlyn gal, they were odd," she said in response.

And another small step back.

"Oh and some girl from your year is running around with a saw."

Jesus that saw had scared the wits out of her.

She took another step back.

Junko still seemed inconsistent. Was she friendly or wasn't she? Hannah was going to leave. She took another step back. She was at the door. She just had a question, then she'd go. Maybe Junko was fine. Maybe not. The question probably wouldn't hurt though.

"Have, um, have you seen Irene Djezari or Olivia Fischer?"

She needed to find them. Junko may have made her forget that for a minute, or maybe that was just her brain, but she did.

She would.

Hannah frowned. She'd never be able to find them if no one had seen them. She had to keep moving, find more people to ask about them. She didn't like to think about it but more people were dying. Time could be running out on finding either of them.

Tara burning herself was worrying. Hannah liked Tara fine. She'd done Hannah's makeup for a few different productions. Maybe she'd broken down, just in a different way than the killers.

"Thanks, um, good luck," she finished before she left out the way she came. Junko may not have been all bad, but she had people to find, and Junko had still made it clear she didn't trust Hannah.
