Because any threads with eaten posts and void pages probably aren't safe to post in.

Have at.

What do you guys think of V5 so far? How's it compare to other versions? Who're some people/characters to watch?

DID SOMEBODY SAY SHAMELESS PLUGGING? (Because I can't really comment on versions I wasn't here for)

Read Ruby Forrester.

I agree with the "playing it safe" parts of what they said, as I do feel a lot of people aren't really motivated to really do anything that would attract too much attention to their character, which leads to them not getting read and becoming boring. The absence of suck is not the evidence to not suck. This isn't too say make your kid some "uber l33t unique" kid, as they are suppose to be normal high school students, but do make them fun to read.

Don't let your kids be Kix cereal.

That said, we've seen some things that have been really out there and I'm loving it.

Also, also, read Finn Grant.

Ah yes, the dead deserve some recognition too. I'm gonna second Carlon Wheeler and Amy Bachelor, but I'll also throw Adonis Alba into the mix, as he's got an interesting mix and match story through his journey, and there's some really good understated things there.

I am also reminded that I should explain why you should read my suggestions instead of just saying them, ehehehe. Gonna be short to avoid gushing.

Ruby Forrester - Just a girl who's got an interesting view point and personality who has never been bogged down in her story so far and is always advancing.

Finn Grant - Simply makes me feel what is trying to conveyed. If he acts like an asshole, It's not hard for me think of him as an asshole, and if he's a bitch, he's a real bitch. Usually, I can see what someone is trying to show in their writing but not really get it, but I actually am getting emotions when reading Finn, and there's a lot of it.

I'm not gonna give a definite answer so early, but I like this one as of right now.

This was asked and answered on the first podcast episode, but I was wondering what you guys thought.

Melee weapons versus guns. Which has more impact? Which is better to write with?

I think I can give a fair shot for this, considering I had two kids this version that got one or the other. (Nevermind my lack of use of them)

I think melee weapons do (have to) involve more personal confrontation, so it can also get more hectic and involved between the killer and their victim then something that involves guns. The negative side is that it also involves the two people being able to act well together, as melee weapons, I think, have a higher chance of not coming off well rather they become too gory or too overblown. High risk, high reward.

Guns have a lot more variables to them, distance, type of gun, training, etc. so I think it takes more careful precision to make sure they work, so they could either keep off very tense and very punchy, or they can come off as really, really, really boring. Min-Maxy.

Edit:

Star

Guns are more fun to write if you know enough about them to understand what horrible, horrible weapons they are. You can also include a lot more pornographydescriptive text when using a gun, as opposed to whacking somebody in the shins with a spiked cricket bat until they politely ask you to stop. Or fall over. That too. ]

Rofling so much at the second sentence

You'll be able to see that activity is already starting to pick up over the past few days, if you're like me and use the portal to see what has recently been posted.

Been a while since a post here, so here's one.

Ya know, I made a top 10 list some time ago of characters in V5 I think I liked, but it's come to mind recently that maybe I rushed that too much, that maybe the characters I liked might not be as good as I thought they were and that I won't enjoy them for much longer, but also there were characters I disliked before but maybe I were too harsh on reading the first time. Naturally, a lot of my feeling have stayed the same while a lot of them changed, but I've noticed them enough that I figure a comment about it might be interesting to hear about. I've since decided to cut down on my list of my top v5 characters, just maybe a little bit shorter. It's hard, having to decide what characters I like more then others, thinking about reasons I like one but then dislike another for the very same thing. So I decide to go back to read some of the earlier threads, mostly of dead kids, see what I've missed when I say I've read everything.

It makes me realize that I've whooshed pretty hardcore about literally tons of aspects of characters that I one and done'd, making me question if it's really to say I have favorites when maybe I didn't just understand what the hell is going on with them and everybody else. So then I start reading back to v4, which was the version I lurked for as a passerby, then coming back after forgetting about it for so long, because nostalgia and all that. And then I really did notice the difference I saw as a reader and as a member, remembering a sense of whimsy as I read it again, a nice sense of detachment. Then I remember about the characters of v5 I shrugged off, so I start digging deeper. Reading those I never really read before, going into the older stuff, sometimes going so far as V1, thinking maybe I judged too quick about everything before v4 just wasn't as good. Oh yeah, there are problems, but there are charms to counter-balance it.

It's at this point I realize I'm burning myself out. And that's bad, because I don't wanna get myself burned out with sotf. So I find myself stuck between wanting to be aware and wanting to keep the mystery, and that kinda really sucks. So a little experiment I started doing was pretending I was just a passerby finding himself on sotf as V5 goes on by him, and I get the same feeling I had before, like I'm experiencing this as first, all confused and intrigued at the same time, while also being able to pace myself. It's fun, real fun. I'm sticking to a few characters strictly as a reader, where I can be amused by just the fact that people are partaking in a really neat idea. So I've found myself a spot I already was at since the beginning, and I think I've found a way to keep myself entertained for a really long time.

In summary, I found something I found nice to do and I wanted to share with you guys. It's late and I probably lost my point somewhere in that blurb, but there it is.

Not on my watch >:c

But nah, I only see it as a "dibs" thing (your choice to follow it or not), and I hope it stays like that. If it ever evolves into an official thing, that 's the day I give up.

That should help some.

The problem is both dead and alive kids are missing, unless I misunderstood.

9 more deaths before we reach maximum halfway. (corny joke)

I think we have...7 more scheduled deaths that need taking care of? I'm not completely sure.

Regardless, hot damn we're almost there, and I only see things getting better, because I am super impressed by a good number of things people have wrote/are writing,

So.

We're halfway through V5 and no one has made a celebratory post about it yet >:c

I would just like to say that this entire thing has been great so far, even through all the ups and downs.

Umm, I guess it depends on what length they'd like, since it'd be a big difference. I think people usually look for longer stories though, so probably R.J.

But do you feel there big differences with how V5 feels during the first part of the game to this half-way point?

And this is probably the wrong tread for this but what are Mid-point evaluations meant to be?

To the first question, at the beginning it was like "What am I gonna do now? but now it's more like "JESUS CHRIST ON A POGO STICK, WHAT DID I JUST DO?".

To the second question, it's basically a summary of a character's story on the island.
