Name: Angelica Miller Gender: Female Age: 17 Grade: 12 School: Aurora High School Hobbies and Interests: Reading, Origami, Studying, Video Games. Appearance: Angelica is Caucasian, with most of her ancestry hailing from the UK, though her family has been in North America for so long that it's hard to pinpoint her exact ethnicity. She is very tall for her age, standing at 5'11”, and weighs 130 lbs. Due to her height and the fact that she is slightly underweight, she is a very lanky individual. Her dark brown hair reaches just below her earlobes, and the few days she bothers to style it it will typically be in a bob, with a plain white or black headband, otherwise it sits in an unruly mess on top of her head, with hair sticking every which way that Angelica attempts to tame with a hat. A slightly broad forehead sits over a pair of baby blue eyes, though people tend to pay more attention to the heavy bags under her eyes. She has a small nose and a pair of thin lips that don't particularly stand out. Due to her limited motor skills, she doesn't often wear makeup, instead opting to just cover as much of herself as possible. Typical attire for Angelica is a pair of comfortable jeans, long sleeve shirts over t-shirts in case she gets to warm, and a solid pair of running shoes. On the day of the trip Angelica was wearing a pair of loose fitting jeans, a pair of black runners, and a plain white long sleeve shirt over a black American Eagle T-shirt, in addition to a Seattle Mariner's baseball cap. Biography: Angelica Miller was born on September 26th, the youngest child of four and the only daughter to Robert and Anne Miller. Her father was the main money maker, working as a lawyer, while her mother was a stay at home mom. The first couple years of her life were nothing special, she went through the usual process that a child does in the first few years of their life, learning to speak and walk and use the toilet. The Millers had three boys before her, Anthony who was the eldest and twelve years older than her, Andrew, second oldest and 8 years older, and Adam, the second youngest and only 2 years older than Angelica. Of the three, Angelica got along best with her eldest brother Anthony, who taught her to read when she was four, just before she would enter kindergarten. Around this time the family got their first gaming console, a Nintendo 64. Due to there being four children in the family, this was the perfect fit for them as no one had to wait to play, as their parents made sure to buy enough controllers for everyone. Being at the ripe young age of four, Angelica didn't quite understand what she was doing half of the time, but she enjoyed the time she and her brothers got to spend in front of the TV after dinner playing Mario Kart, the only game they had bought with the console at the time. For most of Angelica's childhood, this ritual was how she bonded with her brothers, though she still grew closer to Anthony than the other two. Angelica found early that one of the perks of being the youngest is that she could gain her parent's attention at a moment's notice, something that she exercised quite a bit. This caused a lot of stress on her mother, but she endured it mainly because she reasoned that it was just a phase that every child goes through, having to deal with it in the past with Adam and Andrew. This caused Angelica to become somewhat spoiled, as she soon became used to getting her way. At age five, Angelica was enrolled into kindergarten, going to the same school as Adam and Andrew, who were in the second and seventh grades respectively. Anthony was in eleventh grade at the time, attending Aurora High School, the place where every child in that family would eventually attend. Angelica was a very rambunctious child, always on the move, much to the distress of her teacher. She was also quite the attention seeker, though she found that many of the things that worked at home only got her reprimanded or ignored, which caused the young Angelica to become craftier in her approach. She began doing things that were considered reckless, climbing anything that stood in her way, to varying degrees of success. Her teacher caught on to this fact rather quickly, and as a result was always making sure to keep a special eye on her to make sure she didn't hurt herself. Naturally, Angelica would one day manage to do just that. It was during recces near the end of her kindergarten year. Angelica was up to her usual self, swinging along on the lower set of monkey bars, partly due to not being allowed on the higher set, but mostly because she wasn't able to reach them yet. They were expressly told to never climb on top of the monkey bars, and until then Angelica never attempted to, but today was different. Today one of the boys in her class had brought brownies from home that his mother had made. With permission from the teacher, everyone from the class was given one. However, there were some left over, which was unknown to the teacher. Angelica had never had a brownie before that day, and upon her first bite she instantly fell in love. At recess, Angelica would approach the boy and ask if he had anymore. When he confirmed that he did, she immediately lit up, asking if she could have another one. He responded by saying that he would give her another one, if she took a dare from him, an offer than she immediately accepted. It was well known to the class by this point that Angelica enjoyed climbing on things, so the boy told her that if she climbed on top of the monkey bars then he would give her one. Despite their teacher's warning, Angelica instantly took this offer, and like a shot she began to work her way to the top. It was a bit of a struggle, but Angelica managed the feat, sitting triumphantly on top of the lower set of monkey bars, just as her teacher came storming across the play area, directly in Angelica's direction. Knowing that if she got caught, she would be in huge trouble, Angelica quickly began to scramble away, which lead to her losing her balance and falling off the monkey bars and onto the ground below. Luckily, Angelica managed to avoid hitting her head. Not so luckily, she had landed on top of her right arm, the force of her weight causing a hairline fracture in her forearm. The next few hours were a blur for Angelica, first from the pain, then the tears, and then the anesthetics. By the time Angelica was aware of what was around her, she was in a hospital bed, her mother at her bedside and her arm enclosed in a cast. She would be released that same night, and would spend the remainder of the school year in her cast. Angelica's mother realized through this that she had given her youngest child too much freedom, causing her to do foolish things for attention since it always worked at home. Starting in grade one, things changed for Angelica. Her mother became more strict with her at home, assigning her extra chores whenever she misbehaved or acted out, and if that didn't work then removing privileges. The end-all for this if Angelica was being particularly bad was not allowing her to play with her brothers, as her mother was hesitant to remove this particular privilege from her, since she had so little time to bond with her brothers. However eventually things escalated to where even her relationships with her brothers were starting to become strained, with the exception of Anthony, who seemed to be the only person who could consistently calm her down. Despite her attempts at discipline, Angelica only seemed to get worse with time, soon her bad behaviour at home began to carry over into school, affecting her grades and relationships with many of her classmates. These two things in combination quickly ended with Angelica having to go in for assessment of her behaviour. Over the next few months, Angelica would go through countless behaviour assessments by various psychologists, which would go on at a rate of about twice a week for 6 months. During all of this Angelica's behaviour at home steadily became worse, with school being no different, which came to a head when she was suspended for three days after attacking a boy who was attempting to pick on her. News had spread pretty quickly around the school that Angelica was going through these assessments, which caused them to start calling her names behind her back. Eventually they stopped doing even that, opening calling her names. Despite her bad attitude, Angelica was not one for physical confrontation, but after months of build up she lashed out at someone. She spent most of those three days alone in her room, her mother only coming up to give her breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but otherwise she didn't talk to anyone except for the second day when she had her scheduled appointment for the assessments. Shortly after this incident Angelica would be diagnosed with ADHD. Having pinpointed the problem, her psychologist created an outline of ways to combat this disorder, since she was reluctant to refer Angelica to a psychiatrist just yet, being that she was only six years old. The diagnosis did little to change Angelica's behaviour despite her mother's best efforts to follow the program given to her, until eventually they were forced to send Angelica to a psychiatrist, where she was placed on medications that would help combat her disorders. After a few months of no results, Angelica would eventually begin to calm down slowly. Despite her behaviour issues starting to come under control, the kids at her school continued to shun her and call her names, until eventually Angelica wouldn't even bother interacting with any of her classmates. She would spend most of the remaining elementary school days like this, while things slowly started to mend themselves at home. Anthony had since moved out in order to go to college, but he made sure to visit as often as he could knowing what his presence meant to Angelica. Everything would come to a crashing halt, starting in the eighth grade. During one of the orientation days for Aurora High, where they went to the school and had a tour, they were given time to eat lunch in the cafeteria. They were supposed to stay with the group, however Angelica managed to slip away on her own, intent on finding a washroom as she needed to go. Upon finding a washroom she found a group of grade nine girls outside it, and something about this group caught her eye. Without even thinking about it Angelica went and introduced her to the girls, who initially looked at her with shock that an eighth grader would talk to them, despite having been in the same grade only a year earlier. None of the girls in this particular group were from her school, and they seemed to hit it off. It wouldn't be until a few months later when Angelica herself would enter the ninth grade that she would meet with these girls again. Angelica ran into them again on her second day at Aurora High, having gotten lost on the way to her first period class. They were hanging out in front of the same washroom, and recognized Angelica as soon as they saw her. They ended up talking briefly, and then invited Angelica to hang out with them after school. She accepted this offer, never having had anyone invite her to anything after school. As Angelica would soon discover, this new group of friends were habitual drug users, and fearing that she could potentially lose her new friends, quickly began to partake herself. At first it was just the usual gateway drugs, smoking weed and occasionally drinking when one of the girls managed to charm their way into getting some, or stealing it from their parents. At first it was harmless, with Angelica still going to class with only a slight reduction in her grades. Her parents just assumed that it was just because of the harder workload and thought nothing of it, since she was still passing. It wasn't until near the end of her 9th grade that one of her friends would discover her medication in her backpack. In particular she found the small bottle of Adderall, the medication that had been used to treat her ADHD. Upon entering the 9th grade, her parents felt that she was responsible enough to medicate herself, and so let her take her medication with her, since she was required to take it during lunch. Angelica hadn't even thought of the potential to abuse her medication until the moment that her friend discovered it in her bag. They attempted to convince Angelica to try using them in different ways, which she was reluctant to do at first since she was only given new prescriptions for her medication every two months, and she wasn't able to go in earlier than the appointed date to get them. Her friends continued to pressure her more and more, until eventually she gave in, thinking that losing her friends would be worse than losing a few days of her medication. After a quick internet search, they decided to crush the pills and snort them. Since it was Angelica's medication, they let her go first. At first she didn't enjoy the sensation of the powder, causing her nose and throat to sting and caused her to cough a bit, but once it kicked in Angelica never felt better in her life. She had felt these effects in the past when she first started taking the medication, but never on this level, and she loved every moment of it. Her friends for the most part seemed to enjoy it as well, and soon it became their new drug of choice. Since Angelica's amount was limited, they found other avenues to obtain more of the drug, eventually finding a dealer in the city who provided the drug for a fairly reasonable price. After some time they decided that snorting it was too much work, so instead settled with simply popping the pills, a less immediate high but enough to get them going. At first her recreational use was limited only to when she was with her friends, but over the course of that summer she slowly started to do it on her own. She was finding that each time she did it the effects were wearing off faster or not having the same intensity as before. Her mood started to swing rapidly, in particular whenever she was coming down from a high, she was easily irritated and would occasionally start to throw fits like she used to as a kid. This worried her parents greatly, and was brought up to Angelica's psychologist, who she had still been seeing throughout her school life. Any time it was brought up in her sessions, she just claimed that she was feeling stressed out because of any number of reasons, be it school or friends or whatever. She never once said anything about abusing her medication, and while her parents began to suspect that something to that effect was happening, they could never find any proof of the matter. Her medication bottles always had the proper amount in them, but just to be safe they took them away from her and started giving her her medication again. In the tenth grade, Angelica began skipping classes on a whim, much to the detriment of her grades, now dropping to a barely passing grade. Her friends would occasionally join her, and they would sneak off of school grounds to one of their houses, as generally their parents weren't home during the day. They would always make sure to be back to school in time for last period, but soon the administration started seeing a pattern, and phone calls were made home. Angelica's mother was furious at her daughter for skipping so many classes, and as punishment for the next three months Angelica was driven to and from school. Failure to meet with her mother directly after school resulted in her losing all privileges and forced to remain in her room. After a few times of defying her mother and this happening Angelica eventually gave in, meeting with her mother every day after school. Her mother would try to talk with her daughter, but Angelica would remain silent the whole trip, worrying her mother greatly. Once they got home she would lock herself in her room anyways, only coming down for dinner. She barely saw anything of her brothers anymore, two of them having moved out and the third, Adam, being in his final year of high school. The only one who she would even talk to on a regular basis was Anthony, who recently received his paramedic license, and still made weekend trips home. Angelica managed to just barely scrape by her first semester, and in the second semester her grades didn't improve much despite her attending more classes. She began seeing less and less of her friends, until at some point about halfway through the second semester she stopped caring. She continued to purchase extra Adderall from the dealer, and her use of the drug became more frequent, at a rate of about 3 pills every 6 hours, triple the amount she was prescribed to take. Since the use of the drug didn't have any physical indicators, teachers were none the wiser, and in fact on her midterm report it was noted that she had a marked improvement in her in class behaviour. At home, things seemed to be getting better too. It was unknown to her family that she was almost constantly high, but she slowly started to interact with her family more, which relieved them greatly. Of course, slowly but surely with each passing day Angelica was upping the amount she was taking, continually chasing the high of the previous night. Somewhat fortunately for her, she didn't experience too many side effects, mainly manifesting in a lack of sleep and the occasional migraine. She got to a point where she was only sleeping 4-5 hours a night, which her parents didn't see as particularly out of the ordinary, figuring that she was trying to improve her grades and thus was staying up longer to study. Since she spent so much time locked away in her room they were none the wiser. Her second semester of grade 10 ended with her grades being better than the first, though she was still only pulling mid 60's in her classes. Either way her parents allowed her a bit more freedom, letting her go out during the day. She found a summer job working overnight at a local corner store, which was great for her since it meant very little customer traffic. It also meant more money for her, most of which went towards her extra Adderall. Having been taking these pills on an increasingly regular basis for the past year, Angelica was beginning to form visible signs of dependency, her hands shaking slightly whenever she was coming down from her high, which she would quickly remedy at the first available chance. On the few occasions where she wasn't able to take more, generally whenever she was around family, she would become extremely depressed and fidgety, and when asked about it she would just come up with some excuse like she was tired or she drank too much coffee at work. Her parents were concerned but there was little they could do if their daughter wouldn't talk with them about it. No one was prepared for what happened in the final week of August. It was Saturday evening after Angelica spent the entire day out with her family, and by the time they got home for the first time in a long time Angelica was completely sober. Soon she became incredibly moody as her body craved the drug, causing her to fall into a sudden and unexpected depression. Despite the fact that she should have been having a ton of fun, especially because Anthony had the day off and thus was able to join them, Angelica found herself uninterested in what was happening, instead looking forward to when she got home. Finally when they did get home, she was immediately up into her room, digging through into her hiding place for the small baggy of Adderall she had. Without even thinking of what she was doing, Angelica took nearly six times what she was prescribed, since in her mind that would make up for what she had missed. Of course this lead to what would have been a fatal overdose, if it weren't for the fact that her family were present in the house. Over the course of about an hour, Angelica remained in her room, her mood getting steadily worse until she suddenly found herself crying, which wasn't helped by the fact that her heart felt like it was trying to escape her chest. Everything continued to get worse until it finally culminated in Angelica having a drug-induced seizure, which only went noticed due to her falling into her dresser and knocking a good portion of what was on it off, along with the thud of her body hitting the floor. Thanks to the quick response of her family and her brother in particular, Angelica would survive this episode, though she had not escaped from the incident unscathed. In her fall and the ensuing seizure, she had severely damaged her right arm, breaking it in multiple places and almost completely shattering her wrist. There were also many lingering effects of the drug in her body, and she was forced to go through a complete detox in order to rid her body of the drug. Angelica would spend the next 3 months in the hospital, forcing her to be pulled from school. She went through violent withdrawal, with constant mood swings from violent to depressed, and on one occasion even tried to strangle herself, forcing them to place her on suicide watch for the better part of a month as she suffered through this. Slowly Angelica would improve as the detox process continued, and after about three months she was completely off the drug. While she still suffered from mood swings, they weren't as extreme and she was no longer having suicidal thoughts. Her arm had healed the best it could, but the damage that it underwent had been rather severe, and would take a great amount of rehabilitation to get back to being fully functional. Once she was off suicide watch, her mother would visit her every day, occasionally with her brothers Andrew and Adam in tow, sometimes with her father as well. Anthony would always check in on Angelica whenever he was in the hospital, since he spent most of his time responding to calls. It was decided that Angelica would spend the rest of that school year at a youth rehabilitation centre, in order to assist her in returning to a normal life style. The next seven months of her life were spent in a rehab centre and boarding school on the outskirts of Seattle, where she was able to attend classes and continue her studies while working with the staff who worked there to improve herself. She took drug awareness courses every day in the morning, followed by a normal class schedule in the late morning and afternoon. Evenings were split between physical rehab for her arm and sessions with the psychologist she was assigned to in order to help get her life back on track. The centre in all housed about 40 patients, all female. Outside of class, they didn't interact very much, since they spent most of their time outside of class with the medical personnel, each one recovering from their different addictions and issues. Despite all of this, Angelica felt a special bond with these girls, as they were all going through something similar to her. Every month her family would come and visit her, and after showing exemplary behaviour in her first two months, she was even allowed to stay with her family for one weekend a month, which was put to good use, as Angelica worked on rebuilding her family life as well as her personal and academic. Her grades steadily rose, and she even gained permission to remain in the centre for the summer in order to catch up on the work she had lost while in the hospital, so that come the new school year she would be where she needed to be academically. It was during her time in the rehab centre that she began to learn origami, at the suggestion of the fitness instructor. She said that it would help to improve her fine motor controls in her her damaged arm, potentially speeding along her recovery. Even if that wasn't the case, Angelica found that she enjoyed doing it. She also found herself enjoying things she never imagined she would, spending more and more time reading in her spare time. The centre had a rather extensive library, and Angelica found herself in there quite a bit. By the time she emerged from the centre, Angelica was a completely different person. She had learned to cope with her mood swings without drug dependency, and as a final step to putting that life behind her, anonymously testified against the dealer who had been selling her the Adderall, as he had been caught in a sting operation during her time in the centre. Now a quiet and reserved girl in her final year of high school, Angelica intends to be able to proudly walk with her fellow classmates come the end of the year and graduate. She is receiving the best grades of her life, scoring consistently in the low 80's, and her life at home has improved dramatically, with her family supporting her as best they can as she tries to move forward with her life. She still sees a psychologist twice a week in order to help, and she struggles with the occasional craving, but she can mostly combat these, and the times where she feels she can't she has places she can turn in order to keep herself centered. Advantages: Angelica doesn't have very many things going for her that could be considered an advantage. The only thing that particularly stands out is that she is extremely strong willed, refusing to give up on anything she sets her mind to unless it is deemed as being physically impossible for her to do, as she feels that she will fail herself if she doesn't give it the best she's got. Disadvantages: Angelica still suffers from some fairly severe mood swings, which can range anywhere from happiness to depression to aggressiveness, and anywhere in between. Her right arm severely hampers her, since she doesn't have a full range of motion with it and she isn't able to lift anything too heavy in that hand, which could hamper greatly. Hiya, Rocky! Before we give Angelica a full critique, please be sure her profile adheres exactly to the template. Specifically, please add spaces between the headers and the stuff after them (most are fine, but there's an issue with Name, School, Hobbies and Interests, Appearance, and Biography). Post when you've got that done, and we'll give Angelica a full critique. Thanks! |

Hello, my name is Ruggahissy. I will be your moderator and your profile is DENIED due to number of issues. -I see you are aware that your girl is underweight. So, why is she underweight? - What sort of hats does she wear? - She's closest to the eldest but I would think she'd be very close to the brother only two years older. A look through the profile shows that almost nothing is said about Adam, the one closest to Angelica in age. That's a little odd since with the other two brothers being so much older, eventually it'd be only Angelica and Adam in the house. - Teacher didn't talk to the parents about the fact that the kid was behaving in a dangerous manner? - This is a nit pick, but this kid has never had sweets in her life? I totally get her trying a dangerous stunt to get a brownie because that's kid logic, but the wording is really over the top. "Despite their teacher's warning, Angelica instantly took this offer, and like a shot she began to work her way to the top." "They were expressly told to never climb on top of the monkey bars," So the teachers are seeing this bet of sorts go down to break the rules and just let her? All throughout my school and when I've worked with children there would be adults at recess supervising, and I feel like this is the sort of thing that would be notice even if, the teachers weren't standing there and knew she was going to do this dangerous thing that was against the rules and their only response is a "warning." " just as her teacher came storming across the play area, directly in Angelica's direction." "Knowing that if she got caught, she would be in huge trouble," Isn't she already caught? Isn't she already in trouble? Angry teacher sees her and is walking towards. Also "storming" isn't very neutral language for the terrorist. She's walking briskly maybe? Running? - Hairline fractures of the arm take 4-7 weeks to heal. So unless this happened in May it doesn't make sense she'd be in a cast "the remainder of the school year." Being as young as she is and given no additional trauma, kid will be fine in a month. - The mother's actions are confusing to me. If she thinks Angelica's problem is that she's being given too much attention, isn't becoming strict and paying a lot of attention to her kind of the opposite of what the mother aims to do? Aside from that, I think the bigger problem is her overreaction to the situation. She has 3 elder sons she's been raising for 20+ years at this point. None of her other kids was ever hurt? Fractures and sprains (which take the same time to heal) are pretty minor and common. " The end-all for this if Angelica was being particularly bad was not allowing her to play with her brothers, as her mother was hesitant to remove this particular privilege from her, since she had so little time to bond with her brothers. However eventually things escalated to where even her relationships with her brothers were starting to become strained, with the exception of Anthony, who seemed to be the only person who could consistently calm her down." The sentence structure is wonky, maybe there's a typo with "this if" ? I don't understand what you mean. If the mother was the one not allowing Angelica to play with her brothers, why would their relationship become strained? Wouldn't they be upset with the mother? If it means that much to her, why isn't it incentive to behave? "Despite her attempts at discipline, Angelica only seemed to get worse with time, soon her bad behaviour at home began to carry over into school, affecting her grades and relationships with many of her classmates. These two things in combination quickly ended with Angelica having to go in for assessment of her behaviour. " Why is this happening? Prior to this she was rambunctious and hyper and a little reckless, but generally friendly. Why is she picking fights with people now? "News had spread pretty quickly around the school that Angelica was going through these assessments" How? Who would possibly know what she does after school besides her? - So I looked up what typically goes into a diagnosis for ADHD: "As with adults, there are no laboratory or imaging tests available to determine a diagnosis; instead, clinicians base their conclusions on the observable symptoms and by ruling out other disorders. The specialist who conducts your child’s evaluation will ask you a range of questions that you should open honestly and openly. He or she may also: Obtain a thorough medical and family history. Order or conduct a general physical and/or neurological exam. Lead a comprehensive interview with you, your child, and the child’s teacher(s). Use standardized screening tools for ADD / ADHD. Observe your child at play or school. Use psychological tests in order to measure IQ and social and emotional adjustment." Six months for that? Assuming that TWO sessions were devoted to each one of those things exclusively at a rate of two seasons a week, they'd be done in under two months. "She spent most of those three days alone in her room," What three days? It goes straight from Angelica getting into a fight to this. What did she do that she lashed out? What are these days referring to? Was she punished and that's why she's at home? Additionally, how old is she? I could not spend three days all alone without talking to someone even at age 12. - So, my understanding is that she's 5 or 6 when she gets the fracture and 6 when she gets the diagnosis. So is all this stuff happening with her mother becoming super strict, her change in attitude and diagnosis happening within a year? - From the National Institute of Mental Health: "Scientists are not sure what causes ADHD, although many studies suggest that genes play a large role." None of the brothers have ADHD? Parents? - What was the program they gave to her before putting her on the medication? - Why are the kids making fun of her? Okay, let's to take a moment to talk about ADHD. There are three types of ADHD -Predominantly hyperactive-impulsive -Predominantly inattentive -Combined hyperactive-impulsive and inattentive Inattention, impulsiveness and hyper-activeness are all their own symptoms. So, what exactly is going on with Angelica? If I had to toss my chips in and take a guess, I would put my money on hyperactive-impulsive, but that's just a guess. What are her symptoms? She just seems like a kid who is angry that her mother got suddenly and irrationally strict, which again, weird that she wouldn't have a better way to deal with her daughter after having had kids for 20 years. "Everything would come to a crashing halt, starting in the eighth grade." Eighth grade? That would make her 13. She was just 6! What happened in those missing 7 years? Did she get better? Did kids stop teasing her (still unclear for what they were teasing her previously)? Did she make friends? Seems like she had friends in elementary school. Remember brownie guy? "Without even thinking about it Angelica went and introduced her to the girls" Typo. "introduced herself" - What about these girls made it so that Angelica got along with them so well? You say she gets invited over the next day and no one ever invited her over. Why doesn't she have friends prior to this? She seems friendly, she made friends in one day. - Her parents don't notice that Angelica is smoking and drinking? Where do they think she's going after school? Alcohol and weed both have pretty distinct smells. They also make you act altered. Didn't they notice either of these things? - Didn't her parents try to help her when her grades fell? Help with her homework, hire a tutor, make one of the brothers sit with her as she reviewed? What were her grades like prior to high school? - Where is Angelica getting the money to buy drugs? If I recall correctly from my undergrad days, it'll run you about $10 a pill if you find someone willing to give you a good deal. If you buy ten that's $100 down the drain right there and Angelica would have to buy a bit since she takes it regularly to feel a difference. "his worried her parents greatly, and was brought up to Angelica's psychologist, who she had still been seeing throughout her school life. Any time it was brought up in her sessions, she just claimed that she was feeling stressed out because of any number of reasons, be it school or friends or whatever" - Are you saying here that Angelica is able to hide her drug abuse from a professional psychologist? Using Aderall in an amount that goes into drug abuse would make her act noticeably different. It's a stimulant, similar to cocaine. People often find that they don't sleep, lose weight, are unusually energetic. Surely someone would have noticed these things. Would they not test her blood just to make sure if they have suspicions enough about the Aderall to take the bottles away? Angelica is now close to failing her classes and it is later stated that having grades in the mid 60s is an improvement. Let's take another moment to talk about IEP and 504 IEP (individualized education program) and it's lesser intensive brother Section 504 are both personalized education plans for people with disabilities. IEP is those who qualify for special education and 504 is for students who don't meet the criteria for IEP but will still need accommodations. These accommodations will include things like more time for tests, a different testing environment, less problems, more individual help with the material ect. ADHD, depending on the severity can qualify for either programs. With as bad as Angelica is doing I would think the school would recommend or her parents would try to put her in one of these programs. If she wasn't doing so hot prior to high school, they would ask the high school for these programs off the bat, which the high school is legally required to provide. Back to the profile - Again, why doesn't she talk to Adam more? He's closest in age and she'd see him every day at school? - Why did she start hanging out with her friends less? "Since the use of the drug didn't have any physical indicators," Nope. As mentioned before, there are a few physical indicators. "She got to a point where she was only sleeping 4-5 hours a night, which her parents didn't see as particularly out of the ordinary" 4 hours of sleep a night is very out of the ordinary. They would know this due to having three grown sons. "She found a summer job working overnight at a local corner store, which was great for her since it meant very little customer traffic." They do not hire young girls for the overnight job at stores. It's a dangerous situation as it is late and they are alone, that is why corner stores have the practice and she can't work there PERIOD if they sell alcohol. If they don't sell alcohol she still can't work the late night shift as I am told overnight shifts in convenience store require you to be 18 or 21 depending on the company. " Of course this lead to what would have been a fatal overdose, if it weren't for the fact that her family were present in the house. " -What exactly did they do to make it non fatal? As far as I can tell, all they did was take her to the hospital. - The OD. A few things. One, it's looking like a seizure for an Adderall OD while not impossible, is not very common. An Adderall overdose would be closer to having a heart attack. Poor circulation and feeling cold, skin turning blue, being unable to stand are common of someone who has overdosed on Adderall. In some cases people will hallucinate or become paranoid, shortness of breath and rapid heart beat are also in the mix. Two, if all this is happening and you acknowledge she's not feeling well, wouldn't she go lay down? On the bed? Why is she standing near a dresser? Three, even if she does hit the dresser when she falls, what was on there that it would shatter her wrist and break an arm? As far as I can tell, a "shattered wrist" is a wrist fracture. If somehow she did break her wrist by....knocking stuff off the shelf it's a healing time of about 6 weeks, not unlike the fractured arm of her youth. I'm unsure how she managed to break an arm in several places by falling on the dresser, knocking things off and falling on the floor so I can't comment on heal time there. - The hospital. She stays at the hospital for three months. This is a big "no." A friend of mine tried to overdose with a drug and she was taken to the hospital, her stomach was pumped and she was sent home. This may be a bit of cultural different, but a three month stay at a hospital would cost a lot. Here is the information for how much hospitals in Washington charge PER DAY from Becker's Hospital Review (prices from 2010) Washington • State/local government hospitals — $2,429 • Non-profit hospitals — $2,972 • For-profit hospitals — $2,588 Doing the math for a three month stay at the cheaper government hospital it comes to $72,780. Even with insurance they'll have a copay and the insurance won't cover such a needlessly long stay. The hospital wouldn't let you stay more than a day anyway. They need the bed. Angelica would get sent home after an overnight stay (costing the parents or their insurance $2,429 not including cost of medicine and the pumping) and then sent home. Next stop for her would be rehab. Insurance will cover some of that but there will still be quite a bit out of pocket for the parents. Rehab comes in two varieties, in patient and out patient, short programs at 30 days, longer ones at 120. No "seven months" of rehab. I think this is may be what is tripping you up: "Residential communities are also available, usually for those residents requiring help with adjusting to sober living conditions. These communities offer extended residencies, typically lasting from six months to a year." Those are sober living communities, aka halfway houses. Those are not for teens or for Angelica's situation and are not rehab. - Ding dong! Who's that? It's child protective services come to investigate your family due to your young daughter's almost fatal overdose and the fact that she is underweight. This family is now going to be having government over site and check ins until she turns 18. -There is also no rehab that is also a boarding school. She can go to a high school that specializes in recovering kids or a school for at risk youths or a school that works to catch kids up (a friend's sister went to one such school after a sudden expulsion mid semester). Long story short: take out the boarding school, it doesn't exist. -The part with the origami, I think is kind of moot since it seems unlikely she would have hurt her arm like that for reasons explained above. " and as a final step to putting that life behind her, anonymously testified against the dealer who had been selling her the Adderall, as he had been caught in a sting operation during her time in the centre. " More lessons in AMERICA. We have a constitution, which you likely know, but you may not be so familiar with the less well known amendments to the constitution. There are the ones that get cited a lot like the first amendment and the ever popular second amendment, but we'll be looking at the 6th amendment.
Testifying anonymously is a very big no no and is against the highest law of da land. Additionally, why do they even need her to testify if they caught him in a sting? They caught him in the act. -She should have some negative long lasting effects of her drug addiction. Adderall addiction fucks up your heart like woah. Your kidneys and liver as well. She should have heart problems and/or problems with the filtering organs. Her over dose was essentially a heart attack. That's the end of it. Post when the alterations have been made |

I totally forgot to do this earlier, but I'm going to be placing this character on hold for now, since I feel that in order to give the alterations full justice it's going to take me longer than 2 weeks to do so, and I have another character that I want to put in for application in the meantime that I feel will probably have an easier time getting approved, so I would like to go forward with that character while I work on fixing Angelica. |
