((B112, Michael Raynor Start))

It would be easy to say he was dreaming. Really, really easy, in fact. After all, this sort of thing didn't happen outside movies and games. Looking at it from a realist perspective, this was all highly unlikely to say the least. A whole senior class, picked up and transported to a mysterious island with the aim to whittle it down to one? Improbable, if anything. Yet, here he was. On Survival of the Goddamn Fittest. Very unlikely, and not something he would have gambled on earlier. Of course, the possibility of waking up in the middle of this particular forest was not something he considered a possibility. Then again, this was no doubt what he got for making a final effort to acquaint himself with his classmates before he went of to live his life. Sitting in his room on the computer may not be him living every day like his last, but it was enough to be content. But no, he had to let his mom talk him into coming along on this asinine camping trip. Wonderful.

So, when he did wake up in the middle of the forest in a spot that was decidedly not a camp ground, he was alarmed. His surroundings were a mystery, and for a moment he had to bite back the panic that threatened to overwhelm him. Not only was he (shudder) outdoors, he was alone and scared. Even if other students weren't exactly his friends, it would be better then waking up in the middle of nowhere by himself. Micheal began to hyperventilate, his eyes darting back and forth, trying to pick up on the slightest hint he wasn't alone. This was bad, horrible even. Aside from the bags lying on the ground next to him, there wasn't a hint of other people ever being around.

Micheal wanted to call out, wanted to believe he wasn't alone, but he stopped short. No, he had to think, had to try and remember how he got here. Outside some bits and pieces, it was a blur. Some screaming, some loud noise that reminded him of assault rifle fire, then horrified realization. It was only after focusing on that line of though did he out everything together. Even after putting the pieces together, he had to pray he was wrong, had to pray he was making some sort of mistake and didn't remember things right. This had to be a joke, or a dream, or something. Anything that wouldn't justify that feeling of dread he felt in his gut.

It had to be something else, because the alternative was that he was screwed. He wasn't fit, wasn't some kind of tactical genius, didn't even have a lot of friends he could fall back on to watch out for him. Shit, most of his friends hadn't even come along on this trip. Unless he got a damn minigun or something, he was as good as dead. Looking at things from a practical perspective, he wasn't going to do anything without a firearm. For a second, he cracked a faltering grin. Watch him get a rubber ducky or something equally useless. Micheal pulled the day bag over to him, scrabbling through it for his assigned weapon. He was hoping for a pistol or smg, but what he found wasn't too terrible either. He pulled out the bagh nakh and turned it over in his hands, before finally holding it by the grip. It looked like something he'd seen on tv. That or a Wolverine knock-off. At least it was pretty clear it would do some damage. It reminded him of a tiger or lion's claw, with the grip fitting neatly in his hand and the five blades settled against his knuckles.

At least he wouldn't be completely helpless. Of course, he couldn't very well carry it out in the open, lest people shoot first and talk later. Just because he had a weapon didn't mean he was eager to slash everyone he saw. No, he wanted to find group of people trying not to kill everyone on the island and settle in with them. This wasn't one of his video games, he wouldn't get a second try if he fucked up. At least he'd grabbed his contact lenses this time. The last thing he would need was to be blinded this early on.

Distant voices caught his attention and helped him decide he first direction. Micheal stuffed the blade gauntlet thing back in his bag and climbed to his feet. His actual bag gave him pause. True, it would slow him down. Also true, some of his favorite shirts were packed inside. He had on one of his favorites now, a black t-shirt with an N7 logo over the heart, but that still left his whole bag. True, the voices didn't sound too terribly angry, but he couldn't exactly hear them either. Well, he'd take his bag with him for now and take the important stuff out later. Once that was settled, he threw a bag over either shoulder and started his way through the trees in the general direction of the voices. Another voice, closer by, caught his attention. A second later, the source of the speech stepped into his field of vision. Sofia something. The mechanic girl. She didn't seem to notice him, so he hesitantly offered a little wave to catch her attention. "Uh, hey. Going my way?" He asked, somewhat lamely in his own humble opinion, before offering a nervous smile.
"There are, it has been said, two types of people in the world. There are those who, when presented with a glass that is exactly half full, say: this glass is half full. And then there are those who say: this glass is half empty. The world belongs, however, to those who can look at the glass and say: What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass" -Terry Pratchett, The Truth

It never occurred to Micheal that the rest of the Bayview students would forget about playing the game so immediately. For him, the idea of playing along with that bastard voice on the speaker in the cafeteria was so alien, it wasn't even worth thinking about. After all, these people were, if not his friends, his acquaintances. He may not like them, in fact he was sure he didn't, but killing them? That was alien and ridiculous. His classmates weren't killers. They may be many things, but they weren't killers. If he couldn't believe in that, what else was there? That everybody he ran into was just waiting to frag him? No thanks. Paranoia, you can frak off.

So, when the girl's reaction to his sudden appearance was less then overjoyed, he wasn't too concerned. Maybe he was curious at her reasoning, but he wasn't that concerned. He would just smooth things over, explain he didn't mean her any harm. She was cared, was all. No problemo. Micheal took a step forward, trying to look as nonthreatening as possible. "Hey, easy. I'm cool." Was Sofia a spaz in school? Well,k not so much a spaz, but was she the nervous type? What he was getting at, would she kill him, because he'd surprised her? He really hopped not. Not only did he want to stay alive, but that would be a really gorramn stupid way to die.

"Hey, really, relax." Micheal offered a reassuring smile, a smile that faded as he saw the white-knuckled grip on that lead pipe and the tears streaming down her face. Now that he was closer, he was really wishing he'd maybe waited before approaching her. This girl was obviously pretty shaken, and maybe not even in her right mind. Fair enough, he guessed. This really wasn't the type of situation you prepared for. All the same, sympathy or no, he was starting to regret rushing in like this. Assuming this girl didn't smash his skull right here, he'd be sure not to be so rash in the future.

The possible ramifications of this situation slowly started to sink in when it was apparent the girl wasn't going to back down. He might die, right here. It was a lot to take in. To be honest, he always expected growing old and dying in his old age, maybe soon before or after his beloved wife. Naturally, that type of thinking was typical for everyone outside the suicidal. No one expected they would be murdered, or that they'd perish in some terrible accident. Facing the very real possibility right in front of him was hard to process. Considering that, it was maybe excusable that he didn't remember his own weapon as he stared at her in petrified silence. It wasn't likely he'd have been able to bring his own weapon up in time, anyway, so it was probably for the best.

When Sofia did relax, Micheal let out an open sigh of relief and released the tension he didn't even realize he was holding in. She didn't seem like she was going to kill him, and that was good enough at the moment. "Geez, you didn't brain me, all is forgiven." He said with a shaky grin. Even in the fading light, he caught her smile, and he thought for a second that she was smiling because it was as comforting to her as it was to him that neither of them were dead. When she did speak again, he had to admit his surprise. A Starcraft reference? Oh, that was bonus points if he ever knew them. Affecting a horrendous southern drawl, Micheal grinned as he spoke. "This is Jimmy." Back his normal voice, Micheal continued. "Micheal, actually. If you didn't know, I mean."

With the ice hopefully broken and with Sofia hopefully not planning to kill him, Micheal took a second to view his surroundings. She was right, he'd caught at least two voices as he was moving in. "Now that you mention it..." He couldn't see anyone, but that didn't mean they were alone. "I did get the impression that there were others out and about. Here's hoping that they're friendly too, huh?"

The combined threat of the two hidden behind the log might have been more credible if they'd actually produced a weapon. As it was, all they had to go on was the tough act they were putting up. Oh, don't get him wrong, if was very frightening. It might have been more so if he didn't have Wolverine claws readily available. Sure, one of them might have a gun, but if they did they would have already used it. Or, at the very least, made it visible. There was an off chance they didn't mean any harm, but just the same he'd keep his claw in reach. Suspicion was without a doubt the best policy here.

Sofia's reaction was a little less mild. It was understandable, no question. Two people jumping out of cover when they were found it was certainly shifty. Maybe they had the same idea that was passing through his head now. Sofia with her pipe and him with his barely hidden claws and all. If he were in their shoes, he'd be hesitant about revealing himself too. Maybe it wasn't even that? Maybe they were just two friends and were both very opposed to the idea of outside contact with people who may very well have already snapped. Sofia did almost hit him, hadn't she? It was a justifiable concern, no question.

Considering no one was dead and every one was still playing it close to the chest, Sofia had the right idea. Even with the halfhearted threat, the two girls were probably more scared of them and so on and so forth. Maybe not the nicest that he viewed them like two corned animals, but he would err on the side of caution. And that meant letting Sofia take the lead. He at least had the pretense of a hidden weapon, she couldn't really take back swinging her pipe around. It was nice that she hadn't smashed his skull in, but that didn't mean he needed to play the valiant. This wasn't Halo, as much as he might like it to be, he wouldn't respawn if he got shoot, nor would his shields flare to life after a suitable pause from combat.

Even so, he could at least back her up verbally. And back her up verbally he did. Once he started talking, it was hard to stop. Even if he ended up putting his foot in his mouth. "Go on, listen to the girl. We're not going to hurt you. I mean, I'm sure you wouldn't even be worth much xp if we did kill you or something like that and I'm going to shut up now. So, yeah. We're cool. Uh, not going to hurt you that is. Maybe she's cool, but whatever. No hostility here, so you can put down your, uh, rock, and we'll just talk like the nice friendly people we are. "

"No no, hang on a second!" Micheal tried calling out after the pair, maybe try and explain himself a little better. But, no. They kept walking, throwing in a few parting gifts as they did. Maybe it was for the best? If he kept talking, he'd probably end up making a rape joke or something equally painful. No, maybe it was the best for everyone involved if they ran off. Well, maybe best socially. He'd seen enough of the show to know that you wouldn't go far armed with only good intentions. Well, Micheal and Sofia would be okay at least. They'd tried to show the two girls they meant well, and it wasn't totally his fault they ran off.

Still, it didn't feel too good, being perceived as that sort of threat. He didn't look too intimidating, right? A little overweight, unkempt hair, attire that could only be called geek-like. Who the hell was he going to scare? Maybe if he was decked out with his Wolverine claws, but he wasn't. Maybe the two of them together, Micheal in his geek clothes, Sofia with her pipe, maybe they sounded alarm bells? Whatever the reason, they'd taken off. Fine, so be it. They wanted to get ganked, bully for them.

Micheal looked over at Sofia, shrugging his shoulders in an apologetic gesture. He didn't understand what they were scared off, but he recognized that it was probably his fault. Sofia took a seat on the path next to him, and he was tempted to join her. Instead, he remained standing, awkwardly shifting on his feet next to her. He felt like he should say something, maybe comfort her? Possibly do then make the shrug equivalent of 'my bad'. He looked down when she spoke, but it was directed more toward herself then it was him. The name didn't ring any bells either. There probably had to be a dozen Tony's at Bayside.

When she did look up, it was almost a different woman. Well, maybe not that big of a change, but she deed seem more determined. Having a destination would do wonders for someones self-esteem, he guessed. On the opposite hand, he had no frakkin' idea where he was going. Maybe find Mady? He'd talked with her on the way down, so he knew she was kicking around at least. It was nice to have a friend on the island. Less nice when you remember that meant they were going to die horribly along with you. Yeah, that would work. Sofia could go after her Tony, he could go after Mady.

It was better then his current plan at least, his current plan being wander around until someone attacked him.

"Right, sure, yeah. I'll, uh, I'll try and find them and make sure they don't, you know, walk face first into a zombie or something. Wouldn't that be just like that Danya guy? I mean, some sort of bioengineered monstrosities running around? Turn the corner and see frakkin' Nemesis standing there? Going all 'STAAAARS'?" It finally occurred to him he was rambling, and rambling about something that would go right over her head. "Uh, bad guys. So, yeah, good luck, I guess? Don't die horribly?" After offering a feeble wave, Micheal started down the road in the opposite direction.
