Teo reacted as soon as Simon sprung in to action. He was coming at Nick full pelt and Teo pulled the trigger as quick as he cool. The reflexive jolt of the Crossbow came as a bit of a surprise but having test fired a bolt previously Teo was braced for it and the kickback of the weapon pushed softly against his shoulder. The bolt flew true and Teo was pleased that once again the bow had unerring accuracy. His inner perfectionist was glad that he had such mastery over the weapon in such a short time.

There was a loud crack as the steel bolt connected with Simon's knee joint. The bolt buried itself deep within the prosthetic limb but it didn't seem to slow down the charging wrestler at all. There was a slight stagger as the bolt impacted but Simon kept barreling down on Nick like a run away train. It took Teo all of a second to remember that Simon's leg was artificial and that his plan of taking out his leg so he couldn't move was probably a lot less efficient that putting one through the guy's chest.

In truth he had only decided to cripple the boy because he was still coming to terms with the idea of actually killing classmates. Teo wasn't squeamish about blood and he had seen his share of death; a car accident or two, heart attacks, an older relative passing away, but he did have a problem reconciling his image of himself with that of a cold blooded killer despite his previous well thought out logic.

The impact of Simon colliding with Nick made Teo step back instinctively and he moved to sidestep the scuffle and reload his crossbow. In fact given the sudden announcement and the combat before him Teo's normally perceptive intuition failed him and Gary's image faded in to the background, he didn't even notice the boy get up and make a sprint for the door.

The failure of the leg shot to even hinder Simon's attack made Teo more resolute to show no mercy next time he made a decision and he methodically loaded the next bolt in to his Crossbow. This was a game, and like any game, it was one he would play to win. Jumping in to a brawl with two wrestlers was never a good idea. Instead he would just wait until he had a clear shot. This one, aimed to kill.

Just keep on running, Clio. Just keep on going...

((Clio Gabriella continues...))

She couldn't stop. Not for anyone, or anything. Shelter was the first thing on her mind, and...

She stopped. Boxes, metal cages, empty metal cages surrounded her. She had to be at the warehouses, didn't she? According to the announcements, there was a lot going on. 19 people dead? And he gleefully announced that she was responsible for two of them. And Ivan, oh Ivan, wasn't he so high and mighty, trying to save that girl? He killed someone as well! And got that BKA award for it! People were dead, dying all around her. She had people like her, killing more than once. There was that Reiko dyke, that other Russian guy (seriously, when did Bayview suddenly turn into Soviet Russia?), and now that skater chick, Cris. So she wasn't the only girl with a plan eh? Looks like she was gonna have some competition after all...

Stopping a few metres away from a door, she heard noises. A boy, running off into the distance, leaving a door into one of the large, metal prisons, swung open. Not wanting to stop, she bolted for the door.

Darkness, emptiness, but...noises. Yelling? Had to be. After about a minute or two of frantic scampering around in the dimness of the morning, she found the source of the noise.

And promptly as though God himself wanted her to stop, the heel on her left shoe snapped into two places, sending Clio, hair over head tumbling down to the ground. Upon contact with the ground, her gun was dropped behind her like a bird shot out of the sky, and the small key on the end of her necklace almost imbedding itself into her skin. Clio grunted in pain as the contact with the ground and subsequent 'skidding' across the floor almost drew blood. No, only frayed clothing was the outcome of that complication.

Looking up again, pushing herself up from the ground on her hands and knees, the scene that greeted her was a group of people she had never expected, or wanted, to see in one place.

...you have got to be kidding me.

Two of her ex-boyfriends, her soon-to-be ex-boyfriend, and...someone else.

It seemed to Clio, as she lay there, sprawled on the ground, that she had walked into a fight to the death.

Gasping loudly for air, she grabbed at her bag, and start retreating backwards across the ground, absentmindedly picking up her gun along the way as she scrapped across the ground like a crab.

Her back rammed itself into the closest metal pole, protruding itself to the ceiling. And it gave her a chance to examine who the hell was there.

Teo Winstock. Big guy, bigger down below than Clio shamefully wanted to remember. Crossbow. Look on his face that could be mistaken for murder.

Nick LeMonde. Wrestler. Clio's second conquest at Bayview. Dumped him after 2 months. Currently being tackled to the ground by someone.

That someone...

...
....
.....
......
.......Simon.

Her boyfriend. A bolt sticking out of his leg.

She sat there, breathing heavily, as now, with her gun not in her hand, she was defenceless, simply watching a bad accident about to happen.

Clio grabbed her bag, and clenched it to her stomach. It was big, right? It could probably stop something, couldn't it with all that stuff inside? Her right arm squeezed the bag into her stomach, while her left was feeling around on the ground behind her, searching for her gun.

Nick swung his weapon as Simon charged at him, but the other boy went low instead of high and was on course to smash into his legs. In shock, Nick dropped the blade which went skittering several feet, finally stopping by Teo. Though the attack had caught him off guard for a few seconds, he regained his fighters composure and pushed his legs back a few inches before the collision of bodies. When the impact finally came he let Simon push his lower half back, falling forward onto the other wrestler and pinning him underneath. The two hit the ground with a soft thud. Things seemed to be moving at hyper speed. Somewhere in the middle of it all a voice had been speaking the whole time, but the mans speech was a buzz in the back of Nicks mind. Fragmented pieces managed to fight their way through the din to his consciousness.

19 killed.

Nick landed on Simon and scrambled to get a hold of him. The blood was rushing through his body, his heart was beating faster.

Remove his collar.

He was struggling beneath him. He took his arms and managed to entwine them into Simons legs, or leg as it were. The prosthetic was pierced by a crow bow bolt.

Our femme fatales, Clio Gabriella.

Clio?

He looked back, searching for his fallen weapon and saw.

Clio.

A beautiful face broke out from the darkness; she was scared and holding her bag up to her stomach. It was almost as if the act of saying her name was what made her appear.

The pair had dated for a few months at the beginning of 11th grade. He had always been fond of her, but it sometimes seemed like there was something between them that he could never overcome, a wall he could never climb over to get to her. After a while she had simply drifted away. She stopped talking to him. She ran through his fingers like sand. It had hurt him to some degree. It wasnt that he was so deeply in love with her, but what bothered him like a splinter in his mind was "why"? Why had she done it? He never did anything that he could think of to upset her. He got over it fairly quickly and moved on to others, but the question had always nagged and looking up at her, he wondered.

Is it really her? Did I go crazy? Am I just imagining her because the voice said her name? She killed two people, but shes just as pretty as I remember.

Nick stopped moving and gaped at her, trying to figure out if she was real.

Just as the things started to look really hopeless, probably the last thing imaginable came to the rescue - announcement. Gary completely missed the first part of it though, as the situation around him demanded more attention. Simon used Danya's voice as a distraction to attack Nick before telling Gary to leave. As Nick obviously had something else on his head (or rather - legs, as that's the part of his body Simon attacked) right now, and Teo used his shot to hit Simon in the leg, Gary more than eagerly listened to wrestler's advice.

Right after Teo released the projectile out of his weapon, Gary quickly put his hand down and began to run toward the exit, taking a big circle around all 3 boys in the process, to be as far away from both the scuffling couple and from the Crossbow Guy. Coming near the fighting group would be just asking for trouble, and Teo? He also looked like he could easily disarm Gary from his nightstick and then proceed to beat the living shit out of him. Nononono, no close contact, definitely.

As Gareth finally reached the exit, he almost bumped into yet another person staying just outside the warehouse. This time a girl. He had no idea, who she was as he had only a split second to look at her, and the only thing his eyes noticed during that time were purple streaks in her dark hair.

"Shit!"

Instead of stopping, Gareth made yet another evasive maneuver. So far, people only meant trouble to him, and knowing his luck, the girl would turn out to be a player as well. For now, the only people Gary would like to see around would be Rein, Elaine or his parents. Last two options were unavailable though, and Gary had completely no idea where Rein is, so being alone was the only option for the time being.

As the boy finally reached the treeline, he stopped for a while to catch a breath. He did some sports thanks to Rein but never enough to become really fit in any way, so those two fast (for Gary anyway) sprints in the last few minutes ended up draining all of his strength. As he stood there, he listened to the rest of the announcement. Normally, he wouldn't believe his fellow students could've even think about killing their classmates, but after barely escaping the death just minutes after waking up, he was ready to believe in anything. The most important part though, was the fact, that Rein was still alive. Probably the only good thing about that dreadful monologue.

Soon enough, announcement was over. Gary had no idea how the situation at the Warehouse turned out, but he didn't have enough courage to check it. As the boy turned toward the forest and started walking, he sent a quiet prayer to the God, so he would have Simon in his mercy. He could at least give him that for saving his skin.

CRACK

Simon felt a pain in his left leg as he tackled Nick. There wasn't all that much pain, just as if he had gotten a shot with a thick needle (The wound wasn't as bad as it could have been - the crossbow bolt that had been fired had embedded itself into the housing of Simon's prosthetic leg, and as such only slightly penetrated into his flesh). As he hit the ground, it was Nick that got moving first, entangling their legs together and then, he stopped. Simon didn't really stop to think about why as he pushed away from Nick (not enough to really move him, but Simon still did so) as Nick's weight left him, running back towards another exit (no way was he risking getting shot with another bolt - he got lucky the first time when Teo hit the right - or wrong - leg). The announcement was still going on, but Simon was only half-listening to the kills as he ran away from his current assailants and towards what turned out to be another possible danger.

Clio Gabriella. His girlfriend, currently in a four-way tie for top killer on the island.

He got about twenty feet before he noticed the girl, as Danya was still droning about the kills

"... tenth to be wiped off the map was Petrushka Ivanova as Miss Gabriella chalked up her second kill of the day ..."

Simon was only half-listening to the announcement, so it hadn't fully entered his head as he shouted one recommendation towards Clio.

"Clio, RUN!"

The thing was, it had quite possibly, on some subconscious level, registered with Simon, because just as Simon moved within five feet of Clio, he tripped, going towards her, yet simultaneously trying to sidestep her. He was able to regain his bearing after a couple steps, moving forward and to his left as he ran past Clio, rushing to the nearest exit, a crossbow bolt stuck sticking out of the stump below his left kneecap, and any rational thought replaced by adrenaline as he just cleared out of the warehouse.

...

As Simon bolted out the door, letting out, what now seemed to be a catch cry of 'nearby person, Run!' Teo whirled to face Clio. Clio who he had long ago dated, Clio who was always out for adventure, and Clio, who according to the latests announcement had shot a fellow student in the face without a second thought.

With Nick at his back Teo moved to methodically reload his crossbow. After receiving the weapon he had looked over the instructions multiple times and had practiced the process for the greater part of an hour. Still, he wasn't able to get the process down to anything less than 10 seconds and now in the moment where he needed to be as fast as possible he fumbled again with the bolt on the side of the weapon. Clio herself seemed to do no better as she fumbled in the dark for what Teo presumed was her gun. He called out to her as he continued to winch the string back. At speed but not hurriedly. If you were fast but solid with your movements things simply got done a lot quicker.

"Clio, babe. Just relax, this isn't what it looks like."

His short practice had paid off as he slid the bolt in to the catch and whipped the crossbow up at Clio, mere metres away. It just so happened at that at that exact moment Clio's hand found what she was looking for and she pulled up the pistol right back at him. Teo froze, his finger on the trigger quivering slightly before a grin slowly spread across his face.

"Looks like this is a stand off Clio. I don't really want to hurt you and I know you would never hurt me right babe? So how about we put the weapons down and talk this out. You know we're both good people, plus you look cuter when you're happy."

Well...

It became rather obvious to Clio that she wasn't in any danger. The huge fight she had just run into proved just enough for people to actually escape. The two guys, one of them Simon, used her impromptu entry into this large empty space as a chance to make their exits. Simon hadn't obviously realised what she had done, because, well, he was still on her side for the most part. He yelled at her to run, but Simon, sweet innocent Simon, had no idea what she had done...

It would only be a matter of time.

But now was not the time to wonder. She had two mortal enemies to face.

Nick was gaping at her. The announcements must have been delayed or something, cause it was still ringing across through the air in this place. Her name was announced only seconds after she arrived, and she was sure it left a bad taste in their mouths.

Teo, it seemed, wanted to try his luck.

His huge, very attractive Israelite hands were fumbling around with a crossbow, almost in time with her other hand fumbling around behind her for her gun. Nail met concrete, and there was a tiny little part of her that stopped her hands from attempting to grind away the ground from around her.

Whereisitwhereisitwhereisitohgabbygirldon'tfalllikethisnowyou'retoosmartforthis-

Her hands found the grip again. She needed a bandage or a strap or something to keep it on her at all times, this was just getting clumsy.

From what she could tell, it had spun around like a breakdancer when she accidentally pushed it behind her and fell into a kind of Tetris-reminiscent hold on the metal pole behind her. Teo, in his glorious amount of wisdom (that was, none. She didn't like her guys to be able to think that much), tried speaking to her...while still loading the huge projectile piece of weaponry in his hands.

Now this would SIMPLY not do.

Reaffirming her hands into the gun's frame, she watched in horror as he finally succeeded in reloading another bolt into the gun in his hands. Whipping her hand around as fast as she could, Clio found herself now in the middle of her second Mexican Standoff.

This did feel a bit exciting...

Teo spoke again. Honestly, it was like everyone here suddenly became these infinitely wise souls who knew how to do everything. This dumb jock had no idea what she was capable of now, was she? As she listened further, he started to attempt to humour her. Clio wasn't really sure how to react to it, so what she did was she took a page from the classic mass-murderer's book and let out a laugh. It wasn't like she was crazy or anything, just very clueless on how to react to the situation.

Everything was going way too fast for her. She didn't realise that in no way was she cut out for killing, for actually engulfing herself in Survival of the Fittest, but she still had an act to put on.

"Oh, Teo. You're so sweet. You actually THINK that you still know me? Times are changing, honey, and this girl doesn't need your crap. You hear Danya? He knows that! Everyone knows that now! I killed that freaking bible kid, I killed that Russian bitch and I would do it again! So don't you try and get on my fucking good side, because I am not going to put up with that crap from ANYONE any more! Not YOU! Not SIMON! Not JJ! Not MIKE! Not DUSTIN! Not N-HEY!"

Nick, who had taken his place right next to Teo, had tried to go for the large bladed instrument right next to Teo's feet. Flicking her hair around, she readjusted her aim so that both of the two guys were in her aim.

"No, I don't think that'll be happening. You," she motioned with her gun hand towards Nick "Keep those hands where I can see them." Clio shifted her feet uncomfortably underneath her, in an attempt to reaffirm her commanding stance.

Her other hand had made it's way up to her gun. Despite it's size, she could still fit it snugly inside itself, and she continued eying both the guys in front of her. There was no chance of forming an alliance with anyone now, not unless someone miraculously managed to miss the announcement. There was never going to be anything anymore with either of them, and she didn't know what she was waiting for right now. A miracle? A chance to escape? Hope in the form of a distraction large enough to rob them of their precious amount of dignity or weapons?

Fuck. This was all her fault, not thinking it through. She just had to barge in here. And now she was lost. Was it going to be just her, and these two, held out in a stickup like this until someone got tired?

...there had to be something else, a random element, that she hadn't taken in yet.

((Ciel deserves a whole pie for helping me with this. ))

Nick let Simon squirm away from under him and run out, paying almost no attention to him as he fled. He pushed his palms against the cold concrete and got to his feet, never taking his eyes off of Clio.

He shuffled towards her, trying to get a better look. The fact that Teo seemed to be looking at her as well proved to him that she was in fact more than a hallucination of his own creation.

Gabby, he called out to her. Uttering the little nick name gave him an odd heavy feeling in his chest. He swallowed the feeling down.

You shouldnt talk to her like that, he warned Teo.

Shes a lot of things and shes certainly beautiful but I dont know if cute is one of those things.

You cant say that she wouldnt hurt us. You cant even say that she doesnt want to hurt us. You dont know that. He bit his lip and stared steadily at her. His face and tone were unusually serious.

I dont know about you, but she never let me know her enough to make that sortta call, not to say I didnt try my best to find out what sort she is.

He reached down to pick up his discarded weapon but was stopped by her scream. Nick stopped and stood back up.

She pointed the gun at him. He raised his hands, palms open and facing her, but his eyes never left her face.

You cant shoot us both, Gabby. The second you pull that trigger whoevers left standing is gonna to take you down.

Looking at her now he didnt feel the same as he had when hed looked at her in the past. After they had broken up they didnt see each other around much. She might have been his only ex that he did stay friends with after. Whenever he did managed to catch a glance of her at school he usually felt a sharp sense of regret, but in the past month or so hed hardly thought of her and now that she was in front of him now, that blade was much duller. She wasnt everything that he wanted. Clio was beautiful and smart and mysterious, yes but she was missing something. What he wanted was-

-----------------------------------

Mmm, something sweet!

Nick looked down at the pie the waitress had brought him. The little shop was bustling with people but he, Jessica, Josie and Alex had managed to find a booth right next to the window. While they waited he had been watching Jessica from across the booth as she looked outside at the first few summer fire flies. The waitress put down the single slices for Josie and Alex and put the pie between Jessica and Nick. She went ahead and put one plate in front of Jessica and was about to put down the other in front of Nick when he stopped her.

No thanks. Ones good.

You sure? she asked incredulously.

Nick took a slice out of the pie, slapped it on Jessicas plate and went to town on the rest of the pie left in the tin. The waitress stared wide-eyed for a moment before walking away.

Jessica cut a small piece with her fork and tried it. A cautious smile pulled at her lips.

S good? he asked, mouth full of pie.

Y-you, um, youve got, she pointed to her nose. A little pie here, she said, giggling.

He picked up a spoon looked at his warped reflection trying to clear his face. Once he was clean he laughed and picked up his fork again.

Thanks. That happens a lot. One time I walked around for part of the day with toothpaste on my eyebrow. Im not even really sure how I did that. Am I okay now?

Its fine now. W-what about me? I dont have stuff on my face, do I? she asked, her hand going up to her cheek.

No, he said warmly. Youre perfect.

[[Gracie Wainwright continued from Break Up and Break Down]]

A sharp gasp, followed by a stifled moan resonated from Gracie, her hand working meticulously to cover up the blotchy red and purple contusion blossoming from her cheekbone up toward her eye. The skin was still extraordinarily tender, even under the soft bristles of her makeup brushthanks for that, Kyle! Douchebag. Poor Hayley. It mustve been hard to date the worlds biggest prick, itd explain why she was such a skank though. Whatever. And hey, if they got their shit together, theyd probably be able to pop out at least one crack-baby by the time the game ended.

Gracie sighed, further reclining into the hard yet oh-so-welcomed tree at her back, her eyes still trained on the compact in her free hand as she continued to try and hide the bruise. Her body ached in unison with her face, the taxing trek across the island and the sleepless night beginning to catch up with her. The cooling shade of the overly-large tree and the distant sound of the crashing waves would have put her to sleepif it werent for the squealing and crackling and subsequent abrasive voice roaring throughout the area.

It felt like it when on for hours, but in reality the culmination of nineteen kids lives ended with a three second shout-out over a P.A System. And, to be incredibly honest, Gracie didnt really feel any different than she had beforeno desire to cry or scream to the ever-present cameras or throw a hissy. She kind of felt the same way she did when Pappy died, that empty cloggy feeling where you just dont even realize what happened until you stop seeing them around and they stop picking you up from school and stuff like that, yknow? She hadnt seen Pappys body either, maybe that was her problem. You could say someone was dead until you were blue in the face, but unless you see it with your own eyes its just words. Ignorance is bliss, yeah? Gracie made a mental note of the players, though. She didnt want to be someones after-thought.

Without realizing it, Gracies heavy eyelids succumbed to the weight, her hands hung limp with their respective items still held loosely, and her head lolled to the sidefinally accepting the sleep that was itching to overtake her. For a brief moment in her own subconscious she was home again, eating dinner with A.J and the twinsa magnificent Thanksgiving dinner lay sprawled out over the table, the harmonious scent wafting into their nostrils. She was hungry. So hungry. Hungry enough to forgo the use of normal silverware and begin ripping and tearing at the turkey, her bitten-down nails digging deep into the soft meat and relishing each chunk ripped from the bone. A.J was at her side, pushing forcefully against Gracie with her muscular shouldertrying to strong-arm her way into her territory. Move over! Gracie growled, whipping her head around to face her sisterthough what was received her wasnt what she was looking for.

Kyle Portman lunged at her, his hands wrapping around her neck as they toppled off the table and landed with a sickening thud on the stone floor. The twisted, upbeat medley of bells, whistles, and cheerful carnival music filled her ears as she tried to pry Kyles iron grip from around her neck. Clio, RUN! He screamed at her, spittle flinging into her blue-ing face.

CLIO, RUN!

Her entire face tightened, the immense pressure itself felt as if itd rupture her eyessending them and gore flying every which way. She tried to plead with him, tried to make him stop and let her live, but nothing came out of her closed airway.

CLIORUN!

The screaming sounded distant, the convulsing of her own body fore-fronting her mind. Darkness swallowed her peripheral vision, desperation kicked into over-drive. She could feel her life slipping away, she wouldnt even get a last breath.

CLIORUN!CLIORUN!!

Only pitch black remained.

Clio, RUN!

Her breath was ragged when she woke, moisture that pricked at the corners of her eyes were quickly wiped away. Gracie clapped a hand over her chest and took several deep breaths, an arbitrary attempt to calm her racing heart and collect her bearings. All the while, she watched the retreating form of an unknown male racing away from the warehouse some distance away. Still keeping her eyes trained on the John Doe, while also trying to suppress the terror from her nightmare, she shoved her makeup back into her newly compounded G010 duffel bag. Lucky number her ass, freakin cursed by Draculina herself. She really shouldnt have dumped hers back along the beach. Worst idea ever.

Giving the almost-gone figure a last incredulous look, Gracie swung her duffel over her shoulder and grabbed her rifle from its perch against the tree. Halfway between jogging and running, she made her way over to the warehouse. She wasnt sure what made that dude run away, but she couldnt deny her curiosity. There was a saying about curiosity, but honestly? If a stupid ass idiom stopped you from doing something, then youre a retard. And if it was trouble, then so be itshe had protection. That whole debacle at the fun fairwasnt gonna happen again. She learned her lesson.

And God save him if she ever ran into Kyle Portman again, else mommad have a new pair of boots.

Gingerly stepping through the opening in the door, Gracie instantly heard yelling. Part of her pleaded with her to forget about it and leave, but Gracie was Gracie. She couldnt fight the curiosity. Trying as hard as she could the mask the clicking of her boots, she moved down a hallway. Beams of sunlight pierced through holes in the roof, providing some guidance as she traipsed her way toward the voices. With each bend she turned, they became louder and louderuntil she peaked around a container and found the participants.

Two boys with their backs to her and a girl.

And not one of them had a weapon that wasnt dangerous.

Gracies back slid down the container, suddenly feeling far too scared to even think about retracing her steps and leaving. Instead, she pulled her duffel to her chest and listened.

Just like she should have listened to that damn cat.

Teo didn't notice Gracie for the brief time where she was behind the two, his attention was now fully focused on Clio. He began to edge towards her and to one side away from Nick. Staring her down with his eyes, not once breaking contact. A thin smile remained on his lips as he did this.

"Clio, Nick's right you know. If you do manage to hit one of us, and keep in mind you might miss, the other will certainly take you down. We could resolve this peacefully. Sure you've killed those guys, but baby I understand. I know what this game is and I don't fault you for it. You always were smart Cli."

He inched closer, he was now maybe a few feet away from Nick and a few feet closer to Clio. Not close enough that he could reach her quite yet but every inch counted.

"Remember that time when we went to that archery range and they were resetting the targets. No one cared to factor in the change of elevation and were missing their shots and you just smiled, aimed a little to the left and bam, bulls eye, three out of three. Now that was smart babe. You want to do the smart thing now and we both know what it is."

Once again Teo stepped forward. Just a little further.

"With those announcements you won't be getting many potential allies." Teo saw her eyes flicker and he mentally smiled, his suspicion confirmed. "But you already know that Cli, don't you? Still, you stand right in front of us, probably the only two boys on the island who really understand you."

He nodded to Nick as he took another cautious step forward and to the right.

"Now I'm not proposing a team, cause we're both competitive, that's why it would never work. But a mutual respect could go a long way - you know, no shooting until later on, I'm sure we can both agree that's the right thing to do."

Teo re-gauged the distance. It was doable, he just needed to make sure. He moved to point the crossbow away from Clio.

"See, I'm putting down my weapon."

As Teo turned the weapon down and watched Clio's eyes momentarily flicker to the bow he lunged, side forward like he had been shown by his father many times before intent on disarming his ex before she could do something stupid.

((Sorry for the delay))

This wasn't something Clio had planned on doing while she took the time to figure herself out. Holding two of her ex's hostage and then screaming at them wasn't something that was high on her priority list of things to do on the island. It was just above "experiment with sexuality" and just below "try out various gag weapons on self". It wasn't something one thought about often.

There seemed to be a consistant variable among the two guys in front of her, in that they both seemed to be under the impression that her gun was a musket, and they had the speed and reaction ability of ninjas. While ninja skills were helpful in a situation such as the one that presented itself, they were wrong. She could sure as hell shoot both of them without them reacting to either shot, would her hands have been better, but she couldn't let them have any more information than necessary.

She was so caught up in her mini panic, that she hadn't noticed Teo move forward.

Something was up, but Clio was clueless. Not so clueless as to not subcouncsiously notice that the situation seemed to becoming a lot more dire on her hand. She wasn't sure why she clenched onto her gun tighter, but she didn't question her hand's movement.

Teo...

It was mostly what Teo said, not what he did, that resounded with her. She wasn't immediatly moved by this, and going to cascade tears down her face, and repent herself immediatly as though she was a character who's actions needed to be written in a rush. No, it was mostly how much Teo remembered of their time together. To her, it wasn't like he was any different from most of the other guys she dated, though she liked to remember that he was among the biggest, but it was surprising to her how much he remembered of her. Her personality, her little acts in the time they spent together, which was rather fleeting, and it was this she realised too late what he was counting on.

Before she knew it, Teo was there, right beside her. His arm barred her main arm holding the gun, and as quick as it started, the gun was out of her hands for possibly the 4 time in the past 24 hours. Her arm was now wedged between Teo's body and his large arm, and now Clio was back to being a defenseless little girl again.

This was not boding well for the young killer.

He squeezed his hand around the weapon, it hurt. The little cuts stung as they pushed back into his skin against the handle.

Inside he was breaking, looking at the girl. The strangest things ran through his mind, things that didnt seem that important or connected to anything at all. Then he realized they were things of home. The time at the pie shop, the liquor store where hed go buy soda after school sometimes where the woman knew him by face but not by name, the local skate rink where his sister would always show him up. Those little things and memories that seemed so inconsequential before were suddenly everything and hed do anything to have them back and be in them again.

His chest tightened and his eye lids fluttered a mile a minute.

I just.I wanna go home, he said in barley above a whisper.

Clio, she was a killer and she relished in her kills. Letting her go would be a mistake; shed only come back to repay them with the kindness found in the barrel of a gun. She and the rest of the senior class were keeping him from home.

Its not my fault. I have to. I have to. I have to.

Waste her.

A wonderful fact to reflect upon, that every human creature is constituted to be that profound secret and mystery to every other.

As quick as a flash Teo released Clio now that he had the gun and ejected the clip, letting it clatter to the ground and pulling back the slide to remove the chambered round. Tossing the pistol far away it slid in to the darkness of the warehouse right near the doorway. Putting his face close up to Clio's Teo smiled.

"See, that wasn't so tough now, was it hot stuff? Isn't it all better when you go with the flow?" He placed one hand gently on the girl's cheek. She had been a pretty good lay. Not the best he'd ever have but decent enough that she would actually move rather than lying still like most girls tended too. Plus the fact that she was vocal in bed was an added bonus.

"Waste Her"

Nick's deadpan voice echoed around the warehouse. The sudden silence seemed to amplify his voice, giving it an almost robotic twinge, cold and without remorse. Teo's face changed to an expression of grim concentration. His had slid from Clio's cheek slowly, moving to clasp around her neck. Being good in bed wasn't going to save her. He looked straight in to her eyes. This was a competition, there could only be one winner and when you competed you had to be ruthless, you couldn't play nice or take it easy. It was what had to be done.

Teo squeezed tight around Clio's neck, feeling each pulse of her heart as she burst in to a frenzy of movement. The small girl kicked and punched furiously at Teo to little effect. He was just too large, too strong and soon her eyes began to well in tears. Teo simply stared right back at her. His grip tightened.

-----------------

"Hey." Teo slid in next to the girl at the lunch table beaming as he placed a hand naturally on her shoulders. "I don't usually do this, but I felt like I needed to come over and say hi. There's a connection between us you know, just like one plus one equals two."

-----------------

Clio stopped beating on Teo, her flailing becoming more instinctual than thought out. Her pulse slowed

"It's ok babe, we've both wanted this." Teo said, slipping his jeans off. This was a routine he had done many times and the girl in front of him smiled as she seductively removed her shirt and nodded. Teo looked at the photo on the bedside. A Picture. A four year old girl smiling brightly between a couple, somewhere in Italy from the look of it. The girl spotted the direction of his gaze and her eyes grew downcast. Teo stopped and walked over to the bed, putting his arm around her and sitting down. "What happened?"

---------------

Teo stopped.

He was choking a girl to death. Clio had all but ceased moving, her eyes still welled with tears but she no longer fought back.

What am I doing?

He released his grip and Clio fell to the floor, gasping for breath. Turning to Nick his eyes were stone cold. "No. If we do this, we do this right. We need to play smart and hard. This early on we can't have our names broadcasted like those who just were. It'd be kill on sight. We find people and make em off themselves, or at least make sure we don't get spotted doing it, not until later. We've got the advantage now. Nobody knows we're playing."

He motioning to the spluttering Clio. "We kill her that all changes. I'd rather retain the uncertainty of others for a little while longer." Teo bent down picking up the bullet and the ejected clip, throwing them at Clio and pointed to the exit. "Get out. I promised we'd avoid each other and have a truce at least for now and a Weinstock keeps his word. Try anything stupid and we both know how it ends."

He knew this wasn't the smartest play, but for now he couldn't bring himself to end the life of someone he knew, someone that on some level he did care about even though it was so long ago. Pumping and dumping was one thing, but to feel someone's life drain away at your fingers was something else. He had decided to play, but Teo knew he would have to start with someone he didn't know.

He turned away, a flicker of movement behind a crate catching his eye.

"Let's go over there Nick. Give Clio a second to recover. She'll get lost I'm sure of it."

He hoped Nick didn't see the hesitation in his eyes.

As soon as started, it was over. Teo had released her from his grasp, and now she realised how much the roles had changed. She wasn't a threat to them anymore, simply a plaything. They had the weapons, they had the size advantage, and all Clio was left with was a saying that suited her situation perfectly: regalmente avvitato. It roughly translated into English as something along the lines of "royally fucked".

Teo was so close to her she could smell his sweat and see his tounge make the individual movements that were words. His large hand met her face, and he was smiling at her. Clio knew that a step in any direction meant either death by the guy behind him with the large blade, or death to the front of him by god-knows whatever the hell Teo knew in terms of martial arts.

For once, in her what seemed to be at that very moment a fleeting time on the island, she was truly terrified for her life.

And then Nick spoke.

"Waste Her."

Her eyes flickered towards the man in front of him, who's expression changed so quickly it was like trying to keep track of a racing greyhound. It took her a while to comprehend that Nick, the one she honestly, god-strike-her-down-if-she-lied-to-anyone wanted to know but never got the chance to, was now her excecutioner. Before she could even move, Teo's hand met her throat.

She never stood a chance.

He wasn't squeezing yet, only had her by a chokehold. It gave her enough time to try and plead her chances.

"No, no plea-"

Almost enough time anyway.

The little veins in her throat stood no chance against the large Israelite hands that squeezed. It would have thrown Clio back had her figure not been stapled in place like a large wooden doll. One that was now trying to pry it's way out of his hand through means of punches to his arms, kicks to his legs. They were worthless! They weren't meant to be worthless!

THIS WAS NOT HOW SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO END IT.

NO.

A billion thoughts rushed through Clio's head at once, all screaming through her ears like a jet plane. Do something! Get out! Apologize! Offer yourself! Get out! GET OUT! GET! OUT! NOW!

It wasn't doing anything, the endless barrage of week punches to Teo's arm was getting weaker by the second. In a vane attempt to try to weaken him further, she tried digging her nails into his arm. It worked as worthlessly as the punches did.

The thumping in her head grew stronger by the second and now it seemed like a chorus or beating. Clio could hear ever little movement in her body, from the smallest twitch in her now almost-paralyzed legs to the whistling of the hair wrapping itself around nothing as it started to fade like firewood in the night. The limbs tried their best to keep running, but now it was turning into overtime, the workers who operated her legs were now calling it quits, while her arms were overclocking. It was becoming harder and harder to keep them from falling limp beside her figure. And all the time, she was crying like mad. This was how it was going to end? Not some glorious battle, or a fight to the death, or even being killed by a vengeful parent, but by a fellow student who also wanted to play, to win? The day was becoming like night, as the tears started to obscure her vision. Her death seemed close, yet she realised how alone she really was. She had people he wanted to protect her, didn't she? The girl with the pink hair, and the one who looked just like her, where were they? They left her, just like everyone else in her life, which was shortly coming to an end in the following seconds as the blood began to form in her eyes, almost making her left one the same colour as the-

But it didn't stay that way for long. Her legs met the earth once more, and the feeling that reached them was indescribable. That feeling was swallowed up by the tears that would flow from Clio's eyes, weeping, gasping like a dying walrus in the mud, as everything began to blur into one.

I'm alive...

And once again, she was still in the submissive postion in this fight. Teo stood over her, as she registered the small gun parts hitting her as she lay there on the ground like a cawing animal.

Teo was being the big man again, and she was now his little girl, like so many a night together. He was sparing her. He was letting her live.

He was letting her live.

He. Was letting. Her. Live.

Live.

The choking that erupted from Clio started to slow down, but the tears were flowing just as strong. The relief, no not relief, the shame that was filling her up as she sat there, like a scared little puppy, while Teo ordered her out, was nothing that she ever thought she would feel on this island.

But she didn't waste the opportunity presented to her.

Her hands weakly fumbled around at the ground beneath her. Her left ring finger burrowed too deep, and the nail snapped against the ground. Not even caring, she found her clip, and her bag behind her was now as comforting as a warm pillow. A pillow that she wanted to carry to sleep. But now wasn't the time. Grabbing the bag to her chest again, she ran out the door, scooping up her gun on the way. Her entire worth was scattered along the jumping surface of the bag's top, like some sort of sick twist between a farmers market and a carnival game. And that was where they would stay.

She didn't stop running. An ending to an act that she wasn't sure whether she even managed a victory this time beseached her, and she didn't care.

Nick only watched as Teo squeezed the life from Clio. Then just as quickly as he had started, he let her go, told her to run. She picked up her things and flew down the dark hallway, with only the pitter patter of her steps remaining when she was too far-gone into the shadows to be seen anymore.

Nick picked up the flashlight he had dropped during his altercation with Simon and shined it down after her. The light didnt illuminate much, just a beam sucked into the black space. He shifted and shined the light at Teo as he explained his reasoning. The boy stood still, trying to figure out why Teo had done what hed done. He didnt believe his reason, but he couldnt read him well enough to know what the real reason was.

BS, Teo. You could have killed her. Shes already on the islands most wanted for killing two people before us. No one would have said a thing if we said we killed her in self defense. She doesnt even care. She killed the violin player and she doesnt even care. You heard her. She was the one who killed Chris. he said, remembering the other girl he had almost strangled in a rage. She had been telling the truth. The goth girl was a sick thing to cut off his head, but Clio..she wasproud. Theres no one on this island who would have blamed us for cutting her down.

His fingers ran up and down the wooden handle of the hunga munga. The rough feeling of the wood blended in his mind with the memory of Clio. His fingers cut back and forth between the grainy, cold present and the smooth, warm, past. The straight lines jumped to curves, then back again.

Push her out. Shell kill you the first chance she gets.

No more past. Just Teo and Nick standing in the dark. He moved the flashlight away from Teo and sat on a container.

Teo, he said, breaking the silence. Its not supposed to be easy. If it was, wellbut itll get easier. Everything gets easier the more you do it. Even this.

He took a deep breath. But I guess youve got some point. Maybe its best if we dont get famous for a little while.

All around the hallways were empty and dark, with only the thinnest bit of natural light seeping through occasionally. They looked to him like the type of place something frightening might hide. Were the scary things in the dark worried about other scary things in the dark? The thought had never occurred to him. Scary kids, scaring kids.

He leaned back to put his hand behind him, but overestimated how far back the container went, leaned into nothing and fell backwards over the other side.
