"The death of one man is a tragedy. The death of millions is a statistic."
~Joseph Stalin

"Good evening," the girl with the blue hair and the gray jacket said in a raspy voice. She smiled at Anna Chase, her hands dug into the pockets of her baggy jeans. She stared at Anna like she knew her. To be honest the girl that stood behind Anna didn't really know her all that well. One could easily try to write her cheery demeanor off, saying that perhaps she was glad to see another person. While optimism played a part, Kitty Gittschall's smile meant something else entirely.

You see, Kitty Gittschall knew EXACTLY what she was going to do. She was going to play.

There was no self-discovery. No long drawn out rants at the camera. Kitty didn't need to stroke her ego that much to figure what she wanted to do. With Kitty, she ALWAYS knew what she wanted. The killing part sounded like the hardest hurdle she would have to face. Like most things though, Kitty figured she would ease into it like one would a canoe. All you need is to be careful and go slowly. This was not something she imagined she would enjoy. In fact, she figured she would dread it.

Kitty had one small plan though - find a partner. Someone who is either on the good side of the school, or someone who is so harmless. What was her overall goal for this? Kitty wasn't sure. It was mostly a spur-of-the-moment kind of plan that she wasn't sure would work. It was better than going after people alone after all. All she needed was a strong weapon, something that could get her through to the end. Then she could chuck them away like such used trash.

The fair Kitty found herself in was very run down. It was the kind of place Kitty knew she would hang out around with her friends. Maybe fate allowed her the chance to land right next to a trashed fun fair. Perhaps some outside force was telling Kitty that this was her game, that she should try to go all the way. So she did. Then she put her plan into action - find the first lonely girl and partner up with them.

That's when she stumbled into Anna Chase. An odd little girl. She had a math class with her, so it wasn't like she didn't know her completely. The kind of harmless girl that could never hurt a fly. Kitty felt herself mentally chuckle. Yes. She would do just fine. So that was why Kitty Gittschall stood there in an abandoned fun fair, smiling kindly at Anna Chase like they had been best friends for years.

"Your name is Anna right?" She asked.

Kitty tried to hold in a laugh. Oh god, this girl was so nervous she was trembling. This was going to be a little easier. She smiled, brushing her curly hair back.

"No," she lied. "I'm not the killing type. Don't worry. I'm Kitty. My friends just call me Kit."

Kitty didn't exactly find a red bag when she was coming up. The blue-haired girl looked around, a little confused. Having just awoken a half-hour before, Kitty had gone through her bag at a quick pace and found everything that she needed to find. She didn't really take much else other than clothes, her IPod and a few sheets of tracing paper and colored pencils. Kitty didn't need a big bag for all of her stuff.

Kitty felt sorry for Anna now. She couldn't find her glasses so how the hell could she survive in this terrible situation? So, like any nice girl looking to help someone in trouble.

"Sure, why not?" Kitty answered. "I have nothing else to do."

Kitty couldn't help laughing now, but it was a nice laugh. It did not fit the situation they were in at all, like she was plopped right down in real life, just chatting up someone in the school hallway. Kitty was like this in real life, very talkative, kind. Even though her head was filled with gloom. She only brought out the dark imagery in her art. Kitty was no sociopath. A bright but weird girl with dyed hair, who painted grim pictures on the offside was nothing unusual. Kitty was a nice girl, despite the fact that she was going to stab this girl in the back at the next sign of trouble.

Such a Kodak moment. What could possibly go wrong?

“Hands up, packs out, bitches,”

Of course. Gracie NANCY Wainwright. SHE had to ruin the moment. What made it even worse was the fact that she was pointing a gun at them, telling them to put their hands up and throwing their daypacks out, bitches.

Kitty didn't think that Nancy would fire that gun. Ever. She looked back at Chase for a moment. Her glasses were still missing, so how the hell could she see Nancy from so far away? Kitty felt the urge to roll her eyes but kept it suppressed. That just made a simple situation complex.

Nancy Wainwright rather preferred being called Gracie, but Kitty hated girls like Nancy. She once saw Nancy lose her cool when someone didn't call her Gracie and it took all of Kitty's composure not to start laughing at the top of her lungs.

Kitty let out a yawn. It was a rather bored yawn, with every single part exaggerated to the umpteenth degree. She was clearly not impressed by Nancy's one liner. A person who tried to bite off more than she could chew deserved no respect whatsoever, and Kitty wasn't going to give it to Nancy. Kitty would just ignore Nancy and push it over on Chase if she knew what was good for her. However, Chase was pretty much in the dark over this though - she couldn't see anything for christ's sake. What would she do?

Kitty sighed. She looked back at Chase then back over at Nancy. Okay, it looks like SHE going to have to be the one to handle this.

"Alright, Wainwright." Kitty started, the darkness in her heart seeping. She forced herself not to say Nancy of fear of the one-percent chance of her actually having the guys to shoot her.

She reached into her pocket and pulled out a tall, green canister. To call it a canister though would be wrong because one could easily see the M18 Smoke Yellow label that was stretched across the face of it.

"Do you see this? Do you see what this is?" She shook the can around so as to catch Nancy's attention. Nancy looked like the kind of girl who only saw the surface of things, and this made it all the harder to get Kitty's point across. She stared daggers at Nancy as she hooked a finger under the black tab, looking ready to send the projectile at Nancy and run for her life. "It's called a smoke grenade. You know what I call it? It's called 'Don't screw with us.' So why don't you put the gun down, and leave the two of us ALONE?"

(There's going to be a little change in the post order here kids. Next post will be Kami, then Mimi will make her post, and then Kami will make a reaction to it right after. This post order has been approved by everyone involved so yeah go Ciel go.)

Kitty KNEW Nancy wouldn't kill Anna. In fact, the girl's sudden actions had actually amused Kitty for reasons she could not fathom. Not in the sense that the goth girl was in alot of deep shit and that Kitty was laughing at her own misfortune, though that certainly was a small part of it. No. Nancy wasn't going to shoot Anna. That would be crazy. Why would she do that. it was the fact that Nancy was trying soooo hard to look so dangerous. Pathetic really. It was all just a cry for attention.

Buuut.

But this wasn't a joke. Nancy had a real gun. It wasn't a toy, this was heavy firepower. Kitty felt a shot of anxiety run through her body. Jesus christ, someone could die. She had never seen a gun before, only on television and even then she hated TV. Holy shit. It was one thing to say that she was going to play this game, it was another when someone was really close to doing it.

The kicker was that Kitty really couldn't do anything. She couldn't run because, well, she didn't want to run. She wanted to be on Anna's side, that was her plan! On the other hand, Kitty wasn't going to risk getting shot herself. That would just be stupid. So what did that leave exactly? Beg for Gracie to let go of Anna?

"Okay N-Gracie," Kitty said, lifting her hands up in a defeated position. She sounded scared. "Calm down. Just calm down. We're all friends here. This doesn't need to get messy."

Oh. Now Kitty sounded like a complete pushover. She mentally rolled her eyes at just how sad she sounded.

Kitty turned to Kyle, a boy that she vaguely remembered. She also remembered that she didn't care to know that much about the boy anyway. The only thing that she knew about the boy was that he was STUPID enough to think that hitting a gun-wielding person would be a good idea. A PERFECT IDEA. Idiot.

"Well," Kitty growled at Kyle. "You were the one who thought it'd be a good idea to hit the girl with the gun! You got any other bright ideas, Sherlock?!"

Kitty felt only the slightest twinge of guilt for not doing anything for Anna, but then she would remember that Kitty had never really cared about Anna and that she was mostly scared of the gun rather than the chances of Anna dying. Cold, very much so, but it was only logical to just let Nancy cart Anna away. At the least the gun situation was over, and Kitty felt her shoulders sink and her breath go slowly. Kitty turned to Kyle with only a simple message.

"And no matter how you can try to push the blame on me," Kitty started with a smile. "I'd just like to remind you that that was all your fault." Her voice grew grim. "And if she dies, it'll be on your shoulders."

Kitty didn't give him a word in edgewise. She walked past Kyle, ignoring anything he had to say. She didn't care what he had to say anyway. Kitty had won. That was the only thing that mattered.

Kitty found herself wandering to the other side of the fair without really thinking about it. No electricity, Kitty gathered in the depths of her mind. A shame too. It would have been very exciting, what with all the booths and lights. Yes, and oh so alone.

That was when the smile left her face, and all that was left was a blank expression that betrayed nothing but explained everything.

Kitty wondered for just a fleeting moment if she should have tried to save Anna. After all it had been her intention to partner up with someone, a meatshild, a pawn, and Anna fit the bill. Then Kitty remembered that Kitty gave nothing of Anna, and with the payoff of saving her was far less than letting Nancy take her away. At least then if the girl actually killed her the head count would drop. It was morbid, something that Kitty herself knew all too well through art. Kitty was used to seeing and thinking morbid things. She had never done anything morbid though...

It didn't matter. Anna was lower than Kitty. That was all that mattered.

"Pathetic," Kitty muttered, fingering the canister mindlessly. "Couldn't even run away. What use would she have served?"

Kitty had seen SOTF and to call her a fan would be true. She had watched the show while her parents weren't around. They wouldn't have minded - disgusted in their daughter's choice but not disappointed. In fact the only reason she never really told her parents was to simply save face. Kitty was perfect in every way to her parents, and Kitty wanted to keep it that way. Her parents knew as little about her affection for the show as they were aware of the fact that Kitty had absolutely no direction in life, floating in and out of school with no social stretching outside of the walls of Bayview. Or the fact that she had to fake every smile she gave them.

Art is a beautiful thing. It could show so many shades of human emotion in so very little works. A single painting could hold so many emotions that it could overwhelm you, twisting your feelings like a rainbow-colored dishrag. Kitty had known about art and loved everything about it. Art had a dark side though, and Kitty was all too familiar with it. Art could be lovely, but it also shows you the ugly side of human nature that most people tried to push aside. Kitty simply knew that her world was a dirty meadow, filled with self-possessive sheep that live to only eat grass, make nothing of themselves. Herself included.

The only difference between her and the rest of the sheep laying here is that she knew the game like the back of her hand.

Who knows, maybe Kitty was a wolf in sheep's clothing. When it came to killing though, Kitty was very conflicted. Killing didn't seem hard in theory. A bullet through the shoulder would do. Kitty had no gun of her own though so that was shot down. Her mind ran to Franco Sebberts, one of her personal favorites from Season two. Killed people, played it smart, ouf of sight. That's how Kitty wanted to play. Of course, Franco got a grenade launcher and Kitty...

Kitty sighed. What difference did it matter? Just find a new Anna Chase, one with a good weapon. Maybe one that was useful. Find them, flash a smile and ask how they're doing. That's how you get people to trust you, act like you care and just smile. That's all that emotional connections meant to Kitty -just another way to stroke one's ego. Such is the way that Kitty mind works. Maybe that's why she had no friends.

Kitty felt the urge to smoke. A nasty habit that Kitty managed to keep under wraps until now. Kitty didn't need smoke, but right now it was something she wanted. She took out her bag of cigarettes that she had forgotten the brand of but didn't care either way. She held the lone cigarette to her lips and struggled to turn the Zippo on. Of all the times for the lighter not to - she got it, and smiled the first real smile the whole day.

As Kitty exhaled and let the the world back, and Kitty finally realized that she was alone in the middle of an amusement park. So quiet. So empty. It was almost dripping with sadness. Perhaps a metaphor for desire. The overall shoddiness of it all could also represent the desires that the victims wished for, that they will never fulfill. Sick, yes. Of course. Kitty quite liked it though,

Kitty was not as alone as she thought she was. The steps, the panting, every sound that her attacker made went completely unnoticed. Until the bat hit her in the shoulder, she was completely clueless. Naive. One might say that she didn't know what hit her.

The first thing she felt was pain. That bat had hit her so hard that at first she wasn't sure what had happened. She went spinning like a ballerina, balancing on her tiptoes as though she had planned for it all along. She landed on her knees, clutching her shoulder, oh jesus did someone just shoot her? Was that it? It felt like her fucking shoulder popped out of place! There was no blood, no, no one had shot her. She put this in mind that she wasn't shot, and kept her arm close to her chest.

The next thing she felt was fear. Was her attacker still behind her, waiting to finish her off? Kitty turned around and looked. No one. She looked back, wincing in pain as her hurt shoulder moved just slightly. That's when she saw him, Alex, bag in his shoulder, running away. She hadn't noticed the boy run past and take her pack but it took her only a second to register what had happened. Someone had just robbed her!

And then, lastly, she felt anger. Blood-boiling, teeth gritting anger. No, fuck, FUCK, she was not like Anna. She was strong. S-She was supposed to be the one taking stuff, not getting her own weapons taken away. The boy turned around and Kitty did the only thing she could do - she retaliated.

"Y-You give me that back!" Kitty said as she finally managed to pull the pin off.

She threw the grenade at Alex's face and turned away reflexively. Kitty prayed to god it would belt him in the face and knock him out. She tried to gather herself. Her only thought was to get her weapons and leave. Of course Alex had to bat the thing away. Kitty didn't realize this. She didn't actually think you could bat away a grenade like some sort of makeshift baseball.

And the only think Kitty felt was blinding fear.

"Y-You stay... G-Get away from me!" She screamed, her eyes wide, taking an accidental step forward.

Quite honestly the boy thought she was looking to attack him. The thought had crossed her mind but she knew it would be impossible. Maybe a shrimp like Anna but not a six-foot long beast of a man. Why would she ever -

Alex grabbed both of Kitty's wrists, causing the pain in Kitty's shoulder to skyrocket. She tried to pull away, to get out of his grasp but before she could even think she was thrown to her hands and knees. She coughed and tried her best to get up knowing she had to get up, but he punched her to the ground and kicked her while she was down. All she could do was whimper like a sick puppy. He grabbed her by the collar.

The rage was back again. Who did he think she was? She was Kitty Gittschall. She didn't have to take this shit. She grabbed a fistful of dirt as he grabbed her by the collar and threw it in his face, making the boy groan and let go of her.

"I SAID GET AWAY!" She gurgled, the cut she made when she bit down on her inner lip making her mouth taste of dirty metal.

She finally scrambled to her hands and knees when she saw it - the bat, her savior. She was supposed to be in tune with the game but this, what was happening right now, was no longer a game for her. This was a matter of life or death. She had to get this bat or this guy was going to kill her. She ignored the pain running through her body as she crawled towards the bat, clenching it with both of her hands. Yes, she was safe.

Then before she knew what was happening, she was lifted off the ground and found herself flying towards one of the stalls. She screamed and everything went dark.

(Little gave me permission. Just so you know.)

"We're all the losers."

Roland let that thought settle on his tongue. He flicked it around, turned it upside down, studied it for all of five seconds. That made alot of sense, he had to admit. Isabella had a good point. No matter what he did, it would never be enough. That only served to prove Roland's point even further. He had to go and see what was wrong. Roland turned to Dave.

"Listen. As long as I'm alive, as long as there are Gracie's out there taking advantage of the weak, I am going to be there. I am not going to let anyone die on me. That's just who I am, and I am not going to change who I am for you Dave. Not now, not ever."

Roland closed his eyes and turned away, holding his sword again in both of his hands.

"Stay here. I'll go check to see what's going on. If I'm not back in a few minutes..."

Roland didn't finish that statement. He wasn't even sure IF Dave and Isabella would be around when he got back. The thought annoyed Roland but that was life.

Roland got to the end of the lane, where he figured that the smoke was coming from. He pressed his back against the corner. He looked out. He tried to be quiet.

Robert Lerger. Same math class as him. Didn't know the boy that well, though Roland was aware that he was a fixture in Drama. Very basic stature, barely any muscle. Chainsaw. From the looks of it, very hostile.

He couldn't get a good look at the other boy. Robert blocked his view. Though it really didn't matter, because Roland knew for sure that Roland was looking to chop somebody up.

Great. Why do I feel like Dave's is going to mutter "Told you so" when all is said and done?

Roland knew what he had to do. He didn't like it, not one bit. Roland had to swoop in and save this kid that he didn't know. Robert cornered the other boy, who Roland had a clear view of now, and now the boy was... talking? This was his chance. Roland took it.

The boy was talking loudly but the chainsaw was louder. Roland couldn't make out anything. He filled in the blanks himself. Roland almost thought about how he could be wrong, maybe this was all just one big misunderstanding. He blocked that train of thought though because he knew that he was not wrong. If Robert really were a good guy, he wouldn't be cornering someone else, and he definitely wouldn't be waving a chainsaw around like a madman. It was all one big oxymoron to Roland.

Roland remembered his uncle giving him a few pointers on how to hold a knife. The kris was not a knife at all. Roland knew that he would have to improvise just to make it work. Counterbalance the knife, his uncle had told him. Put pressure on your front foot. Swipe. Roland let out a sigh as he crept, closer and closer until he was finally right behind Robert. Roland was glad the boy was too preoccupied with talking to take any notice of him.

And then... Roland hesitated. In the depths of his stomach, he thought this was the right thing to do.

Why did this seem so easy with my uncle?

The boy revved the chainsaw and that was all the reason Roland needed.

Can't feel guilty. Just do it.

In the blink of an eye Roland lifted the Kris with both of his hands. In another blink it broke the skin and buried itself into the boy's back. Roland's emotions would not get in the way in doing what he thought was right. There was much resistance but Roland pushed it, digging it further and further until finally the whole blade was inside. Everything seemed to go in slow motion as he let go of the Kris and watched Robert crumble.

If Robert died then so be it. Roland would bear any sin if it were to save someone else.

The darkness was trying to swallow Kitty whole. She rolled around and tried to fight it off. It would not relent. She was screaming, clawing at the bleak darkness that was trying to rip her apart, limb from limb. Joint by joint. She was gasping for air. Oh god what was happening? Was she alive? Was she dead? She had no idea! This couldn't be it! No! She couldn't be dead! No, damn it, no! She brought her nails to her wrists and started clawing at them, hopelessly trying to find a way out of her sleep! It wasn't working.

Katherine slipped a delicate hand around her shoulder and Kitty was suddenly calm.

“It is not a beautiful sight. It could be worse though. You’re safe. Open your eyes. Let yourself go.”

Katherine wrapped her arms around Kitty’s neck and held her close. She smiled, her flowing brown hair brushing up against Kitty’s ear.

“It’s fine. I’ll be right here. I’ll protect you as long as you protect me. Just open your eyes. Open them.”

Kitty opened her eyes,

and pain shot through her shoulder.

Kitty groaned. Everything was still dark, but at least she could see the shattered remains of what used to be a stand. What the hell happened? Why was she here? She rolled around, confused. There was a huge lapse in her memory. She remember reaching down to grab her bat and not much else. She rolled onto her back, the bat still clenched in her left hand.

She had not registered where Alex was. She was too much pain to look. He could still be hovering over her for all she knew. She rolled over on her good shoulder, clenching the other with hand. She let the bat lay against her stomach, almost oblivious to it even being there. It wouldn't do anything to help and she was aware of this, but what could she do? The pain was so bad, so so bad. She couldn't get back up, not now when her shoulder was a wreck.

"Oww. Crap..."

There was a loud buzzing. It went over Kitty' head. She lifted her legs, cradling in an awkward fetal position that just made the pain worse. Her toes curled up uselessly. She looked almost pathetic, laying there. Kitty screamed mentally to herself to get up and run but her body would not listen to anything she said.

"Ow..."

The pain was dying down just a little, thankfully. She still couldn't get up. Who was there? The buzzing didn't stop. What was that buzzing? Maybe she was dead and she was trying to fool herself. Katherine wouldn't lie to her though. She said she would be fine. She was okay.

Kitty was aware of a voice, but she paid little attention at first. Locks of aqua blocked her vision, and what she could see was a wooden board that used to be the table.

She couldn't remember when she started dying her hair. At that moment she couldn't remember much of anything. Perhaps it was the time like all teenagers where they felt like they had to stand out. Blue hair stuck out, didn't it? Kitty was only trying to be unique. However, with how her hair seemed to pool around her eyes, she wished that she had cut it all off. Rather go bald than to have it covering her eyes.

She opened her eyes, which was a struggle in of itself. She blew the hair out of her eyes with a weak sigh, which just helped slightly. She turned her head. Roland was hovering over her. She vaguely knew him. Vaguely.

Oh how she would answer that question. If she could, she would scream.

“No, of course I’m not fine! Some fucking hit me with a baseball bat! What is wrong with you?”

Of course, she was still very dizzy. So screaming like that would be next to impossible. She just whimpered.

"... No..."

There was another voice booming in Kitty's ear but she found it difficult to focus on it and Roland at the same time. The drain in her mind was unplugged, everything was mixing together and for the life of her she couldn't piece anything together. All a blur. Sound, silence. Sight, darkness. Lost at sea. Drowning. Dying.

Speaking was like pulling teeth. Kitty knew what she wanted to say. She wanted to curse, scream, complain, bitch. However there was a huge difference between thinking of what to say and actually saying it.

“O-Oww…”

Kitty managed to roll on her back again, holding her shoulder tightly. Everything was spinning again. She registered the question Roland had asked. Could she get up? She tried to, failed. Like a damn turtle. She flailed for a moment and just stopped.

"Can't... help..."

She coughed, wincing violently. Kitty turned her head away.
