Name: William Micheal Hearst Gender: Male Age: 18 Grade: 12 School: Bayview Secondary School Hobbies and Interests: Backpacking, Camping, Hiking, Gardening. Appearance: William's lithe and trim form stands at an easy 5'7", a fact that he is quite proud of due to being the tallest member in his immediate family. Weighing in at 150lbs, it wouldn't be out of the question to describe him as having a somewhat light frame. Muscle mass isn't something William ever truly concerned himself with, but he didn't neglect athletic studies completely, so he is at least able to keep up with his family and friends in terms of being able to lift various amounts of weight, peaking at about 50lbs lifted with his right arm. Due to his disability, William heavily favors his right arm, making it slightly awkward when it is easy to tell that his right arm is far stronger than his left, with more noticeable muscle tone whereas his left has almost none, making for a somewhat asymmetric build. William's hair is somewhat short, and if anyone truly pays attention, it appears that he does almost nothing to properly care for it aside from wash it. The sides are kept trim and short, under half an inch at length at the most, whereas the top is allowed to grow out more in a typical, traditional short hair cut for men. Kept trimmed at about an inch and a half to two inches, William keeps his hair combed back as well as he can but it will almost never hold without gel or other styling products, resulting in a partial part in most cases. Brown ochre in color, William gets his hair from his father, much like he does for most parts of his physical appearance. William's heavily calloused hands are almost always dirty in some way, whether they are completely covered in dirt or at times only have dirt under the finger nails, in some way his hands always show signs that he was digging around in his garden or elsewhere, either planting more flowers or gathering some. Vanity certainly isn't something that William concerns himself with too often when it comes to skin care, all but completely neglecting to properly care for his light copper colored skin. He does what he can to stave off acne, certainly, but outside of that there is little that he has done, resulting in rather dry and rough skin. William is a fairly unremarkable young man when it comes to his face. Wide, thin blue-gray eyes beneath a high brow. A short and narrow nose above his thin lips. He lacks any facial hair, usually shaving it off before it can grow beyond the level of stubble and having a noticeably slower rate of growth than most other young men. He has his father's strong jaw line, brow and eyes, but he gets his nose from his mother. William's fashion sense appears to have been heavily influenced by his grandfather and his father with most of his wardrobe consisting of 'professional' attire; that is, pristine white button down shirts, hand-me-down suit jackets and slacks, and a number of more casual outfits consisting of tan or black khakis paired with a button down shirt. On the more casual end of the spectrum regarding outfits, William owns a several pairs of jeans that show major signs of wear, coupled with solid color T-shirts that often have more than a few holes in them. He seems to heavily favor the professional attire, wearing it to school and using it when conducting business of any kind. Biography: The only child of Andrew Hearst, a self employed mason, and his wife of five years, Samantha Hearst née Roberts, a gardener and daughter of a farming family who regularly sold home grown produce, William was born August 23rd, 1990, in Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Born two weeks earlier than expected, the birth was otherwise unremarkable and devoid of any major complications. His early years were heavily influenced by his family, particularly his mother and grandmother, who worked quite hard to include the normally introspective and quiet William. He didn't socialize very much, nor did he ever take to socializing as he got older, preferring to keep to himself and pay far more attention to flowers and plants then he did to the people around him. He never had a very good relationship with his father, as the young William took after his mother far more than he took after his father, focusing on tasks revolving around flowers and vegetables instead of brick and mortar. The few times that William did take interest in his father's trade he used the materials and knowledge to construct a new garden or decorations for said garden, but an injury suffered when William was quite young wherein a large concrete block fell and crushed his left arm and severely fractured his radius, ulna, and humerus bones, convinced him to give up on pursuing masonry beyond mild interest. This injury would follow William for the rest of his life, as it has caused him to all but completely lose the use of his left arm due to muscle, tendon, and joint damage. Upon joining the public school system, first at the St. Francis de Sales Primary School and later the Bayview Secondary School, William showed a remarkable skill for memorizing facts and figures which put him far ahead of his peers in a number of subjects, particularly Math and History, which served as an outlet for him during his early school years and also as an advantage as he continued to pursue his passion in gardening. This skill came in handy later on when he finally began to socialize with other students, coming out of his shell so to speak, when he began to offer tutoring. Among his earliest friends, one in particular remained throughout William's school life, a young man by the name of Alex P. White. While their friendship, originally, was nothing remarkable, it served as a rather fundamental change in William's lifestyle, turning him unto more outdoor activities outside of gardening, such as hiking or backpacking, With new hobbies under his belt as he entered high school, William began to socialize more, began to open up more to new ideas and new people. While he was far from popular, he at least carried with him a small group of friends that he considered close, and even considered a couple more than just mere friends. One in particular, the previously mentioned Alex P. White, he carried on a homosexual relationship with that lasted for at least a year before they realized that they were more comfortable being just friends. Gardening remained his passion throughout high school, but he had new interests to pursue. Hiking, backpacking, and even the occasionally camping trip were among the activities that shaped William's later life, and brought him closer to his small group of friends and indeed allowed him to bridge gaps he had with his family, particularly his father. His life at home remained the same as it always had as he passed through school, with his relationship with his mother and grandmother being often far more developed than the relationship he had with his own father. Keeping food on the table was hardly a problem for the family, but when William's father suffered a debilitating stroke at the age of 43, caused by a seemingly minor neck injury suffered years beforehand which weakened the artery walls due to a series of clots that subsequently formed, William and his mother were left to find some way to make ends meat. With William's pre-existing disability, lack of complete education, and being only 16 at the time with no driver's license, getting a job was almost unheard of, but he didn't give up on trying finding a way to earn enough money for his family. When growing Marijuana was brought up, jokingly, by a friend, William gave it serious thought and used his pre-existing horticultural knowledge and equipment to begin growing marijuana out of the family home, a rather generous three bedroom apartment located within downtown St. Paul. William did not enjoy this, however, as he felt it was a perversion of his passion and as such, he sought shelter in the outdoors. He spent his free time hiking and his weekends backpacking in various state parks, with his favorite park, Tettegouche State Park, being reserved for special occasions. Back at home, under the guise of a part time job, William began to sell the marijuana around town and to his classmates, but his lack of thinking ahead created a rift between him and his mother when she discovered the growing equipment and the plants in his closet. This appeared to be a rather large rift, one that seemingly could not be closed, but William's worry was dissipated when he gave in and explained to his mother why he was growing it and what exactly he did every day after school let out. She certainly didn't enjoy this, but agreed to help him given the circumstance, at least until his father recovered or she was able to find a proper job herself. With the growing lack of financial opportunities available, William's mother was never quite able to find and hold down a job for more than a few months at a time, and William's father never did fully recover from his stroke. Their savings may have kept them going for a while, but the burden of supporting the family fell upon William for close to a year before his uncle, previously uninvolved in his family before and generally treated as the black sheep of the family, came to live with them after having his house fall to foreclosure. With the arrival of his uncle, the burden to support the family was no longer solely William's to bear, and things began to look up. With his uncle there, it meant that someone else was capable of performing the heavy manual labor involved in his father's masonry work, taking a burden off of his father in the process and allowing him to spend more time on physical therapy and the more technical aspects of his business. With his side job no longer being needed, William shut down his growing equipment and sold off most of his remaining stash, keeping a small amount for the unlikely chance that he may need to resume selling. As William entered his senior year, his life seemed to be returning to normal. He could finally focus on his regular activities, and could finally spend his free time after school with his friends or doing what he loved, instead of dealing drugs. The stress of his home life had taken a toll on his studies, and improving his grades became his primary focus when the stress was lifted. While he was slipping beforehand, his more recent report cards report that he has quickly returned to an A- average in the majority of his classes, with only a few others still trailing at B and B+ averages. He never gained rampant popularity, nor did he truly stand out at the head of the class during his senior year, but it appears that he is more than content with this. He could finally get back to actually enjoying his gardening, his backpacking, and his weekend camping trips. Advantages: William's intimate knowledge of plants could serve to be a useful skill in environments where the local fauna is both wide and varied, but lacking the knowledge to properly utilize the plants his usefulness is limited almost exclusively to potentially exploitable effects. Edible plants and various ways to make a plant edible appear to be his specialty, with knowledge on additional effects of a plant being something that merely came along for the ride, so to speak. His outgoing personality, particularly towards activities such as hiking and camping, may prove to be an interesting asset due to a pre-existing tolerance for long distance travel on foot and ease of travel over rough terrain. A small, yet close knit group of friends and strong emotional attachment to another student could potentially prove to be an advantage. Previous experience dealing drugs to classmates may prove to be an asset, should he ever encounter a classmate who needed to score. Disadvantages: As stated earlier, William had suffered a debilitating injury when he was younger, and it has left him effectively crippled, almost ensuring that he will be completely useless with his left arm outside of the most basic of activities. His lack of knowledge on the subject of herbalism leaves him at a major disadvantage if he ever is able to make use of his knowledge of plants, leaving him unable to properly use that knowledge. His love of hiking may be considered an advantage, but it may also prove to be his downfall should he make the common mistake of becoming overconfident, possibly landing him in hot water as a result. William lacks any significant social skills and as such he isn’t quick to make friends or even trust others, potentially resulting in a situation when a fellow classmate will have no qualms over causing him harm or worse, ending his life. His overly trusting attitude towards his close group of friends and his complete lack of doubt in, and emotional attachment to, Alex White, may prove to be his downfall should one of them decide that he isn't worth keeping around or is becoming a hindrance to their own personal survival. Additionally, his complete lack of knowledge when it comes to combat of any kind leads to the conclusion that he will likely rely upon others to fight for him, and that when forced to fend for himself, he may be unlikely to survive long. Very nicely done, Knight. William is APPROVED! There is one tiny thing I'd like you to change before V4 proper: SOTF V4 is set in 2008, so William's birthday should be in 1990 to make him 18, rather than 1991. That's seriously the only issue I noticed, aside from a couple of tiny grammatical things. Excellent job! Welcome to pregame. |
