Victoria Logan was not content. Not in in the literal sense, anyway. She wasn't unhappy, exactly. Jen was an alright girlfriend, she guessed. Her life was, on the whole, going pretty well. She had a bed to sleep in, food to eat, clothes on her back, and last but no least, a pretty sexy girlfriend. And that wasn't even having some poor guy to buy her something for a chance to get in bed with her. To be completely honest, there was no reason for her to be anything less then happy. Despite that, and despite knowing she had nothing to complain about, she was in that familiar rut she always had every once in a while. The same rut that brought with it feelings of restlessness and anxiety. Maybe not anxiety, but you had the idea. She was beginning to notice a trend, if she may be so bold. Now, she wasn't exactly...what was the word? Verbose. She wasn't very verbose, so the explanation might be lacking, but the feeling usually accompanied a boyfriend or girlfriend hanging around for longer then she might have liked. Not to slight Jen, or anything, but anything outside a physical relationship wasn't really her specialty. To be fair, that was probably at the top of the other womans list, too, but the point was that she was starting to grow restless. Sure, the sex was good, and Jen picked things up fast. It was just, well, Vic did tend to focus on her own needs more often the not, and just as often traded her current partner for whoever else caught her eye. It had happened before, and it would happen again, of that she was sure. Still, she was with Jen. Unless the other woman could read her better then she would have thought possible after the short time together, she probably had no idea she was already looking for someone else. Then again, she probably was doing the same. Until whatever happened, she went through the motions, smiling and joking, laughing and kissing. She just didn't feel it anymore. For her, the relationship didn't have that same spark anymore, the sense of exploration, if you will, finding out your partners turn-ons and using them to make the time in the bedroom even better. They weren't together for what anyone would call a long time, but even to her if was starting to feel similar. Allow her to reiterate that it was nothing to do with Jen. It felt important to make a note of that. Still, she'd managed to drag her to the book store down town, that one that always smelled like a crypt. She would have preferred Borders or something, but money was tight and she still needed to resupply her stash. Also, food, probably. This one was cheaper, and it did have that local, family-owned quality about it. She could have found a worse place, she had to concede. The whole point of the trip was to pick up a book for English. Either Slaughterhouse-5, by Kurt whats-his-name, or Native Son by Richard something. After she grabbed one of those, they would probably head back to her place and make out or something. Whatever they did, it probably was going to be a workout. "I'll be quick, don't worry. In and out." Vic offered with a nod and a slight smile. Squeezing her companions hand, she pushed the door open, leaning in for a quick kiss as she stepped into the store. It was the kind of place you expected to see with the lights turned low, like stepping into a cave or dungeon or something. No, it was well-lit enough, and cool to boot. Cold air was always nice. She glanced absently at the woman at the register before leading Jen down the aisle. "Help me find it and we can get out of here." |

Alice had the shop to herself. She'd taken Tenna's shift, and the manager wasn't due in for another two, maybe three hours. That was fine with her. Surrounded by books, the less people around the better. Of course, she did have to deal with the occasional customer, but for the most part, she was alone. Just the way she liked it. Outside Ten and Bounce, Alice didn't like being around other people. They talked too much, made too much noise, generally the opposite of everything she was. Bounce was similar to her, at least in regards to silence. Ten was the balance, the one talkative person she could really stand to be around, and that was only because she'd known her for years. To be completely honest, that was really as far as her social circle extended. You could say she knew some people from her membership in the clubs, Fencing and Gymnastics. Outside a few select people, she was as good as a stranger. People know who she was, but they couldn't remember ever engaging in conversation with her. Fine with her, that was the way she liked it. There was almost no one she wanted to know, and she was perfectly content with Bounce and Ten. Of course, she was subject to crushes and fancies, despite her reluctance to indulge them. Leaning against the counter in a position that could almost be considered casual were it anyone else, Alice cursed her luck as the door swung open. As her luck would have it, the one person she wanted to know just walked in the door. Victoria Logan. If she'd been alone, she might have sighed longingly or smiled, one of the things they always show love-struck teens doing in movies. Seeing how she wasn't, her expression remained unchanged. The woman accompanying her did not escape her notice, and Alice had to resist passing an envious glance in her direction. Jennifer Romita, if she wasn't mistaken. Some people had all the luck. She said nothing as they passed by, watching in silence as they disappeared down one of the rows. As Alice leaned back in her chair, she could just make out Victoria's voice. Even as she tried to discern what Victoria had said, she found herself looking herself over. The same basic outfit she always worse, minus the jacket draped over the back of the chair. A too-small t-shirt, with black straight leg jeans, worn with a plain black belt over an perfectly ordinary, and a little worn, pair of tennis shoes. Not exactly fancy, and it did leave her scars visible, which was the last thing she wanted. When Victoria did eventually return to the counter, Alice didn't want her repulsed by the scars on her arm and the ones just visible around the collar of her shirt. For a moment, she toyed with the idea of putting her jacket back on, but the store was too warm for that. Finally, she settled on folding her arms over her non-present chest, covering the scar on her arm at least with her hand. Now all she needed was to wait for the woman to make a comment about the scar on her neck and her day would be complete. After all, who was luckier then she was? |

Jen wondered why Vic had been acting weird lately as she walked into the bookstore. Not that they weren’t having fun anymore, but Vic just seemed slightly more distant. Great. My first time with a girl, and she turns out to be like every guy I’ve dated. I’m not sure what she’s looking for in me, but she won’t tell me. I’ve tried every act in my book, and still she gets bored. What she was slighted by more than anything, was that Vic felt the need to go into the shop without her. I’m not dumb. I could have helped you look. Hell, I can probably even help you with the Vonnegut. Or at least check out the plays while you hunt. Well, Maybe I can do that anyway. She sauntered in after Vic, making it look like the most natural thing in the world. Once inside, she paused. This was way more down market than she was used to. She’d been willing to pay for the book in order to stay in a decent bookshop, one in a mall, but Vic had insisted. Well, maybe not pay, but certainly acquire. Regardless, Jen didn’t want Vic from knowing about her hobbies just yet. Not until she decided that Vic deserved another shot at the bad girl routine. Looking around the shop, the girl at the counter seemed familiar. About ages with the two of them, she figured. Did she go to Bayview? Probably. Just one of the nameless peons. And working retail nonetheless. All in all, barely worth the time. She grabbed hold of Victoria’s arm. “Vic, you go find your book and pay for it. I’ll see if they’ve got anything interesting in what passes for their drama section. See ya in 5, hun.” |

Jen seemed a bit pissed off as she split of the another section. Vic wasn't exactly a loyal customer, so she had no idea if they even had a drama section. Well, if Jen really wanted something, they could stop at Borders or something. She'd have to pay for whatever it was, of course. She wasn't even sure she would be able to afford the book she needed know. If it was small enough, she could always just sneak it out. She would prefer to pay for it, but she wasn't squeamish about just walking out with it. "Alright, I'll make this quick, babe." Vic offered before Jen disappeared. Okay, down to business. What genre was the Kurt book under, anyway? Well, that really didn't help her. Okay, so, she knew his name was Vonn, something. That might narrow it down. Kneeling in front of one case, her finger skimmed over the spines as she mumbled the names they passed over. "Verghese...Vidal...Vonnegut!" She said the last name with a hint of triumph in her voice, smiling as she skimmed over his books and removing the one she needed. She stood, skimming through the used book, pausing the skim over the summary and the back before setting it briefly on the shelf. Fishing through her pockets, she removed a loose wad of bills, glancing at the price tag on the book. At least it was cheap. Separating the necessary amount, she stuffed the remaining money in her pocket. Vic grabbed the book and made her way back to the register. Once she was clear of the stacks, she called out. "Found it, Jen! We can hit the road once your done." Satisfied, she closed the distance with the counter, looking back at the book as she did. Finally, she looked up at the cashier and placing the book on the counter. It took her a second to realize she recognized the young woman. Anna, Alice, something like that. Went to Bayview, probably in the same grade. She couldn't help but think she looked like a vampire. Not like the goth kids at school, nothing to do with her clothing, she just struck her as vampish. For one, she was really pale. The scars Vic could just see on her neck gave her a kind of hard appearance, the kind that says she's seen some shit. Beside, didn't most media portray Vampire's as really attractive? She had that going for her, because she was fucking gorgeous, in a icy sort of way. Besides, her eyes were awesome, like that guy 28 Days Later. Did any of that make any sense? Jen was gorgeous, she was gorgeous, and this chick, she was just as attractive, but not really in the conventional way. Right, enough of that. She sounded like one of the kids who spend their afternoons playing Dungeons and Dragons or reading a lot of poetry. The point was, Vic found the woman standing across from her incredibly attractive. "Hey there. Anna, right? I'm pretty sure I know you from school. I'm Vic, by the way." She smiled at the taller woman, leaning against the counter, her elbows folded underneath her. She paused and pushed the book forward. "I think this is it." |

Wait a second, Vic was talking to her? Well the expectation she wouldn't wasn't exactly practical. She'd have to pay eventually, after all. Unless she got her girlfriend to take care of it for her. Girlfriend. She found herself hating that thought, that realization. Jennifer had never done anything to her, nothing she'd been aware of anyway. Yet she found herself fighting back feelings of seething jealousy. Why should she be with Vic? What did she have that Alice didn't? Really, how was that fair? She entertained those thoughts for another second before deciding she did not like jealousy. What she disliked even more was that someone could make her feel jealous. Her eyes had flicked to the rows of books, and somewhere inside, Jennifer Romita. When Vic spoke, she immediately looked back, already speaking, "Alice." she corrected lightly, without the malice someone might feel at having to correct someone about their name. Vic probably just didn't know her. Anna was sort of close to Alice, after all. "I know who you are." She added evenly, her eyes leaving Vic's long enough to glance down at her book. "Good book." She said in a desperate bid for something to talk about. "I'll take care of it." She said, ringing the book up as best she could while trying to watch Vic from the corner of her eye. It was odd seeing her so close up. Normally, she just saw her from the other end of the lunch room or something, always crowded with friends. Sort of 'affection from afar' sort of thing. The point being, Alice had never had a very good, or any, excuse to approach her. Even if she did, what would she do? She wasn't exactly the forward type. Even if she did have a reason, she would never use it, thought not for lack of want. Sure, Tenna did as best a job as she could do considering what she had to work with. Even Alice had one outgoing for all the help it did her. When she finished scanning the book, she set it back on the counter. God damn her nerves! This didn't used to be so hard. Three years ago and she wouldn't have hesitated a beat. Now she was having trouble keeping her mouth shut. She had no doubt if she opened it, she'd start rambling, or making an idiot out of herself. How hard was is? A few simple words and she could even say that. Vic probably wouldn't like her once she'd gotten to know her anyway. Too different. Vic was upbeat, funny, gorgeous. Alice was, in a word, depressing. Sure, she was pretty, but Vic could do better. She didn't trust herself to speak, so instead kept her mouth shut, watching Vic was a sort of awe, mixed with what might be described as longing if they were paying intent observation. Alice nodded at the book, glancing down only a second before looking back to Vic. "Anything else I can help you with?" |

Where the hell was the drama section? Actually, looking at the selection that they had, she’d be amazed if a store like this had anything beyond some Shakespeare, maybe some Shaw, Ibsen, Miller, Priestley. She doubted they’d have anyone new and innovative. She was looking to see if they had part 2 of Angels in America. She’d read part one recently, and hadn’t made her mind up if it counted as a full play or not. Finally, she came across the section. 1 shelf. And true to form, most of it was taken up with Shakespeare. A quick scan revealed nothing that she hadn’t read. Damn. Still, she shouldn’t have gotten her hopes up in a dive like this. Maybe if she got Vic alone somewhere, then the day wouldn’t be a total waste. Usually, she was able to get Vic to pay attention when she had her tongue in her mouth. Giving up, she went to try and find her girlfriend. Thankfully, Vic seemed to be done, and she followed the sound of her voice to the register. Vic was there talking with that girl. Made sense, how else was she going to pay? Still, she didn’t want there to be any ambiguity. Wandering up slowly beside Vic, Jen attached herself to her arm. Make it abundantly clear that they’re an item. I don’t care if you’re straight, or not interested. You are not getting your claws into my girl. Not while she’s still my girl. |

This girl...well, there was no way to say it that didn't sound stuck up. She acted like Vic did before she discovered her breasts, so to speak. All coy, trying to make it look like she wasn't while her keeping her eyes on Vic. Honestly, she hadn't seen it, or acted like it, since early middle school. Once she developed, her personality sort of filled in around it, and she stopped attracting shy and nervous guys, and started attracting guys interested primarily in doing her in their car. Not a bad trade-off, if you asked Vic. Of course, she did miss this sort of approach. Not so much to send Jen packing right there, but...Well, she found it...cute. The fact the clerk was drop dead gorgeous, if wanting in the sleep department judging by the bags under her eyes, didn't really help. It didn't fit, really. Working in this hole-in-the-wall. Now, if Vic was her, she'd be working some place where that pretty face of hers would be making bank. Hell, even iHop or some chain restaurant that did tips. Not a place like this. Well, whatever. Whatever worked, she guessed. "So you know me, Alice, not Anna?" Her smile grew as she switched to another subject, following Alice's train of thought. "You think so?" She asked with a coy smile, leaning forward a little. Just because she thought her attitude was adorable, didn't mean she wasn't going to mess with her. "Hmm." She mused thoughtfully, running a finger slowly over the lips on which she'd some new shade of green lipstick not two hours before, primarily for Jen's enjoyment. This worked too, she figured. "Something else?" Again she paused, this time shrugging her shoulders lightly, leaning just a little further over the counter. "Maybe something in romance would be nice." She grinned wickedly at Alice as Jen approached and proceeded to make the same observation she did, judging by her reaction. "You know? Never mind? Unless you have something to recommend, of course?" Wrapping her arm around Jen's shoulder, her smile grew teasing with Alice. Really, for her, it was win-win. Either Alice said something and Vic could potentially find herself a new girlfriend, or she would keep quiet, casting envious looks at Jen instead. Maybe not win-win, but it was at least enjoyable to watch. |

Alice bit her lip, shifting anxiously behind the counter, her eyes meeting Vic's for a few fleeting seconds before darting to the counter and the book on top of it. It just wasn't fair. The one chance she had to talk to Vic and her girlfriend was hanging off her arm, shooting daggers at Alice. Not exactly desirable. She was adaptable, something Fencing helped with, but she was frozen here. Speaking was hard enough, and that was just what she had to say anyway. Want to know what was worse? The fact she was enjoying it. She must have been more obvious then she had thought, and Vic was having a great time toying with her. And even worse then that? It was working. She tried to keep her eyes on the counter, or her feet, anywhere but Vic. Every so often, she couldn't help but glance up t the woman standing before her. It was always just in time to see her fingers trail over her lips. Her incredibly kissable-no. No, no. This was hard enough. "R-romance?" She asked weakly, looking back to the floor. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Vic lean forward, over the counter. She looked up briefly to see Vic smile at her, and despite everything, couldn't help but smile back, hesitantly. When Jen approached, Alice looked back to the counter, making as if to bag the book. "N-no. No, I don't really know." She didn't have to look up to feel the glare coming from Jen. "I, uh, I couldn't tell you, w-what you might like." Just take Jen and leave. She added to herself, looking up briefly to see Jen hanging off Vic, with Vic bringing her even closer. A quick pang of...what? Discomfort? Anguish? Whatever it was, it was more then enough to make Alice want them gone. "S-sorry. I can't help you." |

((apologies for delay. Damn writers block)) Was she flirting? And right in front of her as well. That was not a good sign. She would have to talk to Vic about that. Not right now of course. No, Get Vic away from the fresh meat, get her somewhere she could remember all that was good about Jen, and then she’d have her again. Still, she was finding it harder to mark her territory. The fact that Vic was blatantly ignoring her presence and trying to make time with this… Alright, she was hot. She’d give her that much. Still, Jen had some standards, contrary to rumours. If she was with somebody, then she was with them. She didn’t cheat, despite some serious temptation. Still, she felt that she had to make some effort here, to prevent things from going worse. “Vic, honey? Are we done here? Can’t you just pay and we can go. If you want me to pay, that’s not a problem. We can work out a way for you to pay me back later?” With an obvious wink and a sultry tone, she hoped that would be enough to remind Vic of who she came in here with. |

Vic laughed, an easy and warm sound, and one she hoped would sound as seductive as she imagined. Oh, it was so terrible, but she was loving this. Making this poor girl sweat like this, well, if was a hell of a good time. Not that making her sweat in a more exerting fashion wouldn't be better, but...even if she was on the way out, she was still with Jen. And honest enough, the poor girl didn't look like she would be able to keep up with Vic's life style. Well, not so much that as she didn't look like she'd be interested. Good knows she looked fit enough. And not that Vic wouldn't like to see what she was without her clothes in the way. But, for the moment, she was with Jen. As burdensome as that currently seemed. Not that the sex wasn't good, and she wasn't exactly the worse looking girl around. It just seemed to be getting routine. The sex, the making out, everything. To be completely honest, Vic was looking for something new, and Alice was looking a likely candidate. At least long enough for Vic to get her in bed. After that? Well, who knows what the future holds. Maybe she'd pick up some guy on the football team. They were always good, and it'd be a nice welcome back from the male gender. Vic was still absently aware of her contact was Jen. She glanced down at her companion, arching an eyebrow. "Getting restless? I'm almost done, I think. If your so eager to leave, just wait out front, and I'll be right out." It sounded dismissive, she realized. She also realized that she didn't really care. To be honest, and since she was thinking to herself and it really didn't matter if she consciously accepted it, she wanted Alice. Naked, preferably. She wanted to find out what she was like when she wasn't stuttering and mumbling, she wanted to find out what she liked, what she disliked. But, mostly, she wanted to see her in bed. Of course, if this was where she worked regularly, she could come by whenever to see if she was interested. Okay, stupid idea, no question if she was interested or not. The point was, she could put Jen down relatively gentle like. No screaming fights, no angry arguments, just a calm explanation ending with her going the other way. Because that was what she wanted. Alice was what she wanted. Vic found herself imagining Alice as a trophy, something to work toward, something to treasure once she had it. And, like the most trophies she could get, gather dust once she was bored with it. After all, Vic wasn't delusional. They'd sleep together a few times until Alice lost her novelty and Vic would move on. The best she could do was enjoy it while it lasted. Finally, she looked to Alice and smiled her best smile. "Money, I almost forgot." She glanced at Jen, her smiling falling slightly, but not nearly enough to disappear from her face. "I'll cover this one, Jen." She patted her pocket, looking confused for a brief second before remembering the money on the counter, forgotten at the edge of the surface. She pushed it toward Alice with one slender finger, the nail painted the same shade of green as her lipstick. "Here we are." She finished, her full smile returning. |

Smiling tentatively, Alice glanced up from the floor to Vic, the sound of her laugh sending chills down her spine. Good chills, for once. Feeling good wasn't exactly something she was used to. Mostly it was day to day monotony, and she'd accepted that. This break from the normal was nice, and even though it tortured her, she would enjoy it while it lasted. Because how often would she get a chance to be around Vic, even if she did spend the time mumbling and being an all around idiot? At least Vic seemed to be interested in her. That was a boost to her painfully low self esteem. Having someone like Vic not only notice her, but flirt? God damn amazing. But, then there was Jen. She already had claim on Vic, and she wasn't shy about making that abundantly clear. Alice was imagining a number of unkind things about Jen, but she didn't allow her expression to change. Not that either would see if, with her eyes pointed directly at the floor. As much as she wanted to talk to Vic, she didn't want to be around Jen. She did not like the feelings of jealousy that she couldn't quite suppress. It was strange to her, strange and unnerving. Not to say she was unfeeling, she just wasn't used to feeling jealous about anything. She took the money without saying anything else, pulling it across the counter toward her. Alice rung up the book without a word, occasionally casting an envious glance at Jen, who seemed more concerned about Vic's flirting. Hesitating briefly, Alice looked from Jen to Victoria, and was somewhat heartened to see her smiling down at her. It would have been up normally, Alice being quite a bit taller then Victoria, Alice was slouched, as if in a bid to disappear altogether. But when she saw that smile, she straightened slightly, not by much, but enough to be noticeable. "Your change." She said evenly, proud beyond words at keeping the shake from her voice. She handed the money back to Vic treasuring the brief touch of her hand that was cut short all too soon. Alice's eyes darted to her nails, noticing that the polish was the same, or nearly the same, shade as her lips. Those perfect-no. We've been through this, haven't we? If Jen was going to be present, Alice wanted them both to leave, especially before she did something foolish. At that point, Jen would probably smack her. "That's everything." She said, her voice carefully neutral, but she did manage to meet Vic's eyes. "Was that it, or did your...friend-" her eyes passed over Jen briefly before looking back to Victoria. '-have anything?" |

"There are, it has been said, two types of people in the world. There are those who, when presented with a glass that is exactly half full, say: this glass is half full. And then there are those who say: this glass is half empty. The world belongs, however, to those who can look at the glass and say: What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass" -Terry Pratchett, The Truth Lost To the Ages Spoiler: click to toggle Coming soon, to a V5 near you Spoiler: click to toggle

Vic could see where this was going, and she wasn’t happy about it. To be dismissed like that for white trash. It was humiliating. Right there, she knew the relationship was over. Still, she was damned if she was going to make it easy. Vic had better have the balls to at least break it off with her formally. No, she was not going to go gentle into that good night. She would make Vic say the words. Jen had never been a graceful loser. Still, she didn’t want to cause a scene right here in the shop. That said, if this Alice didn’t see what Vic was like from this whole farce being played out in front of her, maybe she did deserve Vic after all. And she had the gall to ask if Jen wanted anything?! “What? No. I can assure you tat there is nothing in this dive that I have the slightest interest in. Vic, I’ll see you outside in a few.” She disengaged from he girlfriend and walked smartly towards the door. Maybe she had been a bit of a bitch, but right then she didn’t care. Vic had 2 minutes to come and get her or there would be hell to pay. |

((Hey, sorry for the delay. My grades have been slipping a bit, and I had to get those back up to an agreeable state. Oh, and sister G sent me a message to just go ahead without her for a few posts with Vic and Jen talk.)) Victoria watched Jennifer stomp out, feeling a pang of regret, even when she decided that it was over. Jen was fine and all, she didn't want the idea that she wasn't to be mistaken. Jen was hot, she was funny, and she knew exactly how to turn her on. It was just, well, just getting to the point where Vic wanted something, someone, new. And, as it would happen, that someone was Alice. It was pretty fucking obvious Jen hated having someone else chosen over her. Of course she wasn't just going to leave her out there. Even if Vic knew she was going to leave her. she owed Jen and explanation at least. That didn't mean she would like it, but at least she would now for sure that it was over. "Uh, thanks. I'll talk to you later?" Vic started toward the door, book in hand, offering a frantic smile at Alice, looking away to make sure Jen was actually outside. Sure, she said she would be, but Vic wouldn't have been surprised if she had just left. "Bye, I guess." She hovered at the door for a moment, her hand hovering over the handle as she looked at Alice once more, offering a broad smile and a weak wave before stepping out onto the sidewalk. Yeah, Jen was just as pissed as Vic had thought. Vic had acted kind of like a bitch, and that wasn't even mentioning unfaithful. She'd flirted right in front of Jen, so her behavior was pretty much excused. She understood it, at least. "Sorry, about that. B-babe." For all her apparent confidence, Vic wasn't exactly sure how well she stood, and if was going too far at that point to use the same term of endearment she'd used countless times before. Vic laughed, going for joking but sounding nervous instead. "I mean, it isn't like you wouldn't do the same if I wasn't there, right?" Vic had no regrets about her decision, as spur-of-the-moment as it was, but she liked Jen enough, even if she was going for Alice, that she wanted to avoid pissing her off too much. Well, more then she already was. "Hey, let's go get something to drink, or something, huh? Just the two of us?" |

((Sorry back atcha. Things have been a bit hectic here as well. Trying to hold down 2 jobs and a girlfriend is not the easiest. Hope your grades are picking up, though.)) Jen leaned against the side of the shop, pulling a packet of cigarettes from her bag. She put one between her lips, and returned the packet to the bag, only to bring out a decorative zippo in it’s place. With a practiced motion, she lit both the lighter and the cigarette, flipped the lid back down and dropped the lighter back into her bag. Mentally, she gave Vic until she had finished the smoke before she just gave up and left. Thankfully, she only had time for a few short puffs before her ‘girlfriend’ made an appearance. Sorry, about that. B-babe. I mean, it isn't like you wouldn't do the same if I wasn't there, right? She was laughing about it. “You’ve got some nerve, Victoria Logan. What the fuck was that in there?” Jen was trying to keep her voice under control, to not make a scene there on the street, but her emotions were running so high that volume control was not on her priority list. Hey, let's go get something to drink, or something, huh? Just the two of us? “Is that it? ‘let’s go get a drink’? Are you even going to talk to me about what you did to me in there?” |

It wasn't like this was unexpected. Vic deserved every bit of her girlfriend yelling at her on the sidewalk. After all, Jen hadn't been the one to flirt right in front of her. No, there was no really way to justify Vic's behavior. She was clearly and plainly in the wrong, and there was nothing she could say to make it better. Even if she did stay with Jen, despite the snap decision to go with Alice, Jen wouldn't trust her at all after that point, and even if Vic did stay, Jen would be gone within the week. Vic couldn't fault her for it. In the mean time, it was all she could to keep from flinching. Her normal reaction to someone shouting at her was to shout right back, louder and meaner. Of course, she probably wouldn't agree she'd done anything wrong then. No, she knew she'd messed up and she deserved everything Jen did. Folding her arms under her ample chest, Vic grimaced, suddenly finding her shoes incredibly fascinating. Unfortunately, her shoes laces didn't exactly have the same sort of catch as Jen trying to keep her voice away from 'scream' on her volume control. Against her better judgment, she glanced up and immediately looked back to the ground with another wince. "Yeah, that was the idea with the drink." She said sheepishly, her voice as low as the cashiers, witch was a little ironic. "Sorry, Jen." That being the extent of what she could possibly say, she glanced up at Jen helplessly. "I know I really fucked up, and I'm sorry." After a second, meeting Jen's eyes proved an impossibility. Maybe it was knowing that even if she talked Jen down, she'd get her pissed off immediately after when Vic told her she was going after Alice. Maybe she just couldn't deal with those close to her directing any hostility in her direction. No, it was probably the first one, even if she would have preferred things going well with Jen up until she broke the news. You know what would really suck? If, when, she did break up with Jen, Alice didn't take her in. Yeah, she didn't think that was too likely after seeing how she reacted in there, but what if she didn't? After all, she shows up one time with one girl wrapped around her arm and shows up later asking her out? Vic was really hoping she wasn't just reading too much into the woman's reactions. If she was? Well, in that case, she could foresee ample amounts of liquor in her future, as well as some loser at the bar escorting her to his backseat. Edited by Yvaine, Nov 20 2009, 07:05 PM.
