Name: Christopher Carlson
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Grade: 12th
School: Bayview Secondary School
Hobbies and Interests: Acting, improv, guitar, video games (almost to an obsessive degree), guns, politics, comedians, reading, ballroom dance

Appearance: Chris is the kind of guy who would stand out in a crowd. He stands at 6’4, broad-shouldered, though not particularly muscled (his arms, in particular, are slightly bony), but with very large calf muscles. His dark brown hair is long, going down past his shoulders when wet, but naturally curly. This leads to the bottom of his hairs and the back to curl and bunch up, which can look slightly humorous at times. When not held in place with mousse or gel, it also tends to stick out to the side like a helmet. His face is a curious one, in that he can look handsome at a certain angle, while other angles lead to his nose looking just a bit too big, or his expression a bit too hard. He usually has a neutral expression at all times, which is slightly intimidating. His eyes are a cool blue-gray, and can easily change between piercing and warm when his mood is appropriate. His face and torso are quite pale, due to his indoors lifestyle, but the tops of his forearms and legs are a nice tan. Due to slight mishandling at birth, his left eye is slightly smaller than the right, and his right leg drags a bit when he walks. He prefers jeans and a t-shirt over all else, and usually has a hoodie, which is tied around his waist when it's too hot to wear. He almost never wears a hat.

Biography: Chris was born in Ontario to a New Jersey father and a Detroit mother. His parents moved to Toronto after their marrige while she was living in California (he was visiting on a trip), moving into a house in Guelph where he had wanted to live. They were married for four years, the once-happy relationship marred quite quickly. Her father had always been suspicious of that man who seduced his daughter at the club, and his suspicions were quite correct. The charming, good-humored man was a violent drunk. It didn’t take long after the birth of their son in May of 1991 for his façade to drop. His mother, who was a rather tough woman in her own right (enough to repeatedly beat and knock out attacking muggers, to the point where simply mentioning her as a witness once scared her victim into taking a plea bargin for robbery), simply beat him back and locked him in the basement to sober up.

One night, it went too far. During a visit to Chris’s father’s parents in his hometown of Summit, New Jersey, he arrived home at midnight, drunk as can be, looking for the car keys to go out driving. Knowing he would likely get himself in a wreck on the mountain roads, she had been sleeping with the keys under her pillow. In a fit of rage, he began strangling and beating her. His fatherstumbled in, and she forced him to call the local police as she kept from getting killed. He finally gave up and attempted to strangle the 2-year-old Chris to death. As she pulled him away from the crib, the police arrived and subdued the enraged man. He attempted to claim that he was attacking her in self-defense, but part of his wife’s plan was to never harm him. When the police saw him without a scratch and her bleeding and bruised, he was immediately taken into custody.

Unfortunately, his family was very wealthy, and had considerable influence in the town, including the police. Chris’s father was quickly bailed out of jail, and the ensuing custody battle never happened. When they returned to Guelph, Chris’s mother knew what she had to do. She packed up everything she could into a rented U-Haul van and took off with baby Chris, driving it herself all the way down to California to her parents’ house. Her husband (They had never officially divorced) promptly put out a kidnapping charge for his son, but as they were Canadian citizens at the time, the police were unable to pursue her to the United States. However, this ensured that until she could convince her mother-in-law to drop the charges for her, she could never return to Canada. Her technically-ex-husband would die in February of 2007 after drinking his way through his fourth transplanted liver.

Chris’s mother and grandparents raised him as well as they could. They maintained an upper-middle-class lifestyle through the three sources of income. His mother worked as an accountant, and developed her own system of accounting that allowed her to complete her work accurately in less than half the time it took her co-workers, easily making her one of the best accountants in the state, if not THE best. This allowed her much freedom in determining her salary and working hours, challenging her bosses with a ferocity that would have gotten others fired, simply because they knew that if she left, the office would lose massive amounts of productivity and many high-profile clients, including Universal Studios and Disney, to abandon them. Chris’s grandmother worked at a local Wal-Mart, and his grandfather, while he stayed at home to watch Chris after school, would be payed by the neighbors for physical labor, as his grandfather remained very strong and spry even into his seventies.

Chris attended a Lutheran preschool at the age of four, cementing a friendship with Chloe Bernstein, an upper-class girl who he met one day on the playground. He attended elementary school as one of the younger members of his class at a full year under his classmates. His grades were good, though he very quickly displayed, much as his mother had, a distinct sense of right and wrong, leading to many altercations with bullies, his biggest being a fight with a football player and his boy scout friend right on his front lawn, which he won through very dirty fighting (biting, kicking in the balls, etc.). He was quite well-spoken for his age as well, having begun speaking in full sentences at the age of two, allowing him to argue with his teachers with surprising maturity. He developed his trait for odd habits and tics as well, such as humming under his breath and exhaling for no good reason, which sometimes gave him the appearance of “weird“ or “creepy“. He began reading intensly at the age of three, and by elementary school he was bringing some kind of book, be it a Harry Potter novel or a video game magazine, to school and reading whenever he could, expanding his vocabulary to the point where his less-educated peers were often left confused at the big words he used. When he was two, he also developed his love for video games. His grandfather brought him to a nearby arcade/fair he frequented and showed him a racing game. When Chris found out he could actually control the cars on TV, he was hooked. Soon his mother bought him a Super Nintendo and a few Mario games, which he played endlessly. In later years, he would begin playing violent games almost exclusively, such as Grand Theft Auto and Call of Duty. This led to his interest in firearms, from pocket pistols to battleship cannons. He has knowledge of just about every firearm category under the sun and could probably tell you whatever is needed to know about a gun just by picking it up and looking at it. Despite this, the closest he’s gotten to firing one of them is a BB gun in boy scouts and a paintball gun (now broken from an irreparable jam), both of which he fired with great accuracy, one trip to the woods resulting in an accuracy of 94%, twice that of his friends. The closest he’s gotten to an ACTUAL gun is an unloaded showing and tryout of a family friend’s collection, and he’s handled unloaded .22s, Walther PPKs, and even a .44 magnum.

In middle school, he discovered his biggest love: drama. He took the class on a whim in 7th grade and almost immediately fell in love with the stage. He was one of the best actors in the class, and demonstrated his talent for improv and scriptwriting when he developed high-quality skits and pantomime routines. He took the class again in 8th grade, his biggest role being Michael Jackson, a security guard, and a Kidz Bopp commercial announcer all at once in an American Idol-themed skit.

High school was a big change for him. In 9th grade, his birth came to haunt him. Chris had been born with a bad case of asthma and his right tibia twisted out of place. Originally, these hadn’t been a problem. The asthma went away in preschool and his leg hadn’t provided any real problems other than his foot being turned to the right a bit. In 9th grade, he found that his Personal Fitness coach required the class to run a mile every Wednesday. He didn’t know it at the time, but his childhood asthma had lowered his lung capacity to about 4/5 of an average human’s, and walking on his mishappen leg had been slowly damaging it. He suddenly found that not only did he run out of breath quite easily, his right leg was quite easy to damage. More than once he has overexerted himself, stepped into the shower, and nearly fallen over from a paralyzing injury. However, he managed to bull through and completed all his P.E. credits in his first year, even taking two P.E. classes at once in the second semester, leading to him running a mile every week from the beginning of school to the end. This did have the advantage of keeping him in shape, though.

He also joined Drama Club this year, followed by his old friend, Chloe. His first participation was in the spring, running lights for Oklahoma!. Chris never clicked with any group quite like he did with Drama Club. He fell in love with the friendly nature of his fellow actors, quickly developing a rapport with them and befriending dozens of members within his first year. He became well-known throughout Drama Club and the Thespians, though he didn’t make it into their Thespian troupe until the second semester of his junior year, and was always privy to the dirtiest little secrets. He took drama once again this year, and for the end-of-year exam, he quickly wrote a script for a short skit and had it rehearsed within two hours, easily beating the mostly-improvised performance of the other group. He also found that guys, in general, sucked ass to be around. He always found himself befriending girls, not out of any desperation for a girlfriend (though he would like one, thank you very much), but simply because he found that they were less prone to machismo-induced bullying and displays of bravado and sexism. As such, by his junior year, all but three of his friends were female.

In 10th grade, he began taking French, which he could speak well by his senior year, and also starred in his first show, playing the role of Snout in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The following summer, he performed on the ensemble for Grease and worked on the costume crew for Jake’s Women (though because he was the only guy on the costume crew in a show with only one male cast member, he was unable to help the girls with their quick-changes backstage and spent rehearsal reading or sleeping backstage and spent the show nights watching the show). His performance in Grease led to him become a fan of ballroom dancing, and he took to watching Dancing With the Stars on a regular basis and joined Ballroom Dance Club in his junior year, a better dancer than most of the members, beaten only by the club officers.

As of his senior year, life has been good. He just finished a role as Laertes in Hamlet, his biggest role and one that echos his role as Laertes in a scene he did in 7th grade drama class, and got a 2000 on his SAT in March. He plans to attend the University of Central Florida, following his friend and fellow actor Trevor O’Riley. He and Chloe aren’t an item whatsoever, as she already has a boyfriend, though some seem to be suspecting that she may like him a bit more than her Frenchman.

Personality-wise, Chris is an oddball. His constant neutral expression, rarely smiling except in the presence of friends, and especially ones in Drama Club, tends to put people off, though he’s managed to attract some girls, few of which he finds appealing. His membership on bbs.stardestructor.net has also led to him being quite well-known among his enemies for being able to send off a biting, sometimes harsh insult at the drop of a hat (He once slapped an overweight kid with a dishtowel and called him a walking ad for diabetes when he started mocking him). People tend to find an unusual grace in his movement, his enjoyment of dancing leading to his movements being very fluid, and he enjoys moving through crowds just so he can see how fast he can move without ramming people (the current record is around a fast jogging speed). He’s also got a massive ego, and has no problems admitting it, which has led him to be quite arrogant at times, especially with people he dislikes. Unfortunately for him, his voice is usually a constant monotone, except when acting. When coupled with his rather threatening neutral expression, it can be difficult to ascertain his emotions without paying attention to body language. His knowledge of right and wrong followed him to high school, and he has no trouble arguing with teachers or friends over it. This has led to a reputation for being argumentative, especially as his sarcasm and bluntness sometimes leads to him accidently insulting his close friends. He is sometimes found to be unusually intelligent (if insufferably lazy) compared to his peers, and he has a massive vocabulary and the ability to hold his own in any argument.

Advantages: Chris is in fairly good physical condition for his age, and towers over most of his classmates, indeed many adults. He took karate for a short time, and has attempted to teach himself Krav Maga. He knows very little of the fighting style, but has mastered a few takedowns, which could allow him to disarm an attacker of equal size and/or strength and break bones if need be. He fights dirty, and has no problem leaving someone bleeding, blind, and broken if need be. If absolutely necessary, he would kill, and his constant playing of violent video games has left him more immune to blood and gore than some, but he likely wouldn’t kill except in defence of himself or a loved one. His interest in guns gives him a good working knowledge of most weaponry, and he has fairly good accuracy (though he hates guns with a heavy trigger pull that throw off his aim). Also, his fondness for girls has led to him becoming very violent when he sees one being harmed. With his tendency for getting into tough situations, it’s unlikely his psyche will be broken except in the case of the deaths of close friends. At times, he can be quite demanding, and could easily force someone into a decision if he feels the need. It’s quite difficult to anger him, and he usually keeps his cool, with only a few things touching off his berserk button (harming girls, insulting him for being an atheist, and bigotry being the most severe). His dance and martial arts experience have made him very aware of his body, and his fluid movements let him dodge easily and quickly zip around obstacles.

Disadvantages: Chris’s biggest disadvantages are his leg and lungs. It’s quite easy for his right leg to become overstressed and injured, and his low lung capacity means he’ll be out of breath and lightheaded after a short sprint. His upper body strength is also poor for lifting his heavy frame, giving him difficulty in lifting himself with just his arms. His low standing among the more popular members of Bayview means that they’ll have difficulty trusting him, especially with his somewhat threatening demeanor, requiring him to find existing members of Drama Club to form allies. He’s unwilling to take the position of a leader if he feels that there are more capable leaders, and sometimes has trouble speaking up with his own views if he feels that his idea will be seen as stupid. His arrogance and ego means that if he feels that his views and plans are correct, he may have trouble adjusting them to fit in other opinions. As well, his fondness for girls is a double-edged sword, and he’ll be hesitant to harm a girl, let alone kill one.

Wow, that was long.

Almost too long.

Anyhow.

This works for me, the only thing I'm going to caution you about is the fact that he seems to have almost too many skills. The weapons thing, fine, but the martial arts too? I don't know. It almost seems TOO perfect. I'm going to approve him, and we'll see how he does during pre-game, but I think that one of those aspects may need to be toned down a bit in order for him to appear a little less like Mr. Amazing.

Good work, overall, though.
