If you're a newcomer and interested in joining, then please make sure you check out the rules. You may also want to read the FAQ, introduce yourself and stop by the chat to meet some of our members. If you're still not quite sure where to start, then we have a great New Member's Guide with a lot of useful information about getting going. Don't hesitate to PM a member of staff (they have purple usernames) if you have any questions about SOTF and how to get started!

Let the games begin!

Name: Ilario Fiametta III
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Grade: Senior [12th]
School: Bayview Secondary School
Hobbies and Interests: Business classes, Leadership club, Student Council, Debate club, Academic Decathelon.

Appearance: Standing at a willowy 5’ 7”, 137 lbs, Ilario Fiametta III looks every inch, the prim and proper young gentleman. The boy’s oval-shaped face is smooth and somewhat soft looking. He definitely isn't rugged, and can have an almost delicate look about him at times. Although he is good-looking, one would be hard-pressed to describe him as handsome. Almost invariably the adjective one would find applied to him is 'cute'. His nose, while not the smallest, certainly isn't oversized and sits comfortably in the middle of his face. His dark brown eyes, delicate olive skin, and dusty blonde hair help to complete the image of a young man that, while determined, might break if handled too roughly.

Biography: Ilario Fiametta III was born to the rather wealthy business magnate Ilario Fiametta Jr., alongside his sisters, Franscesca and Rosalia. Growing up, the privileged boy wanted for very little in his life. His father’s business exploits made sure that the family was very well to do, very nearly bordering on opulence. Perhaps the only thing Ilario lacked was a matronly figure, his mother dying in childbirth. With his father’s work keeping him away from the home most hours of the day, Ilario and his sisters were often left to their nannies and, eventually, their stepmother.

The young, gorgeous woman came into the Ilario’s life when he was 10, but the two still aren’t on the best of terms. If one were to ask the boy, he wouldn’t say that he dislikes his stepmother. He would simply shrug and say that the two have nothing in common, aside from their name. And so, to avoid the discomfort of having to actually speak to each other, the mother and son make sure to give one another a wide berth.

The relationship Ilario has with his father is complicated. The man very obviously favors his son over his daughters, much to the boy’s unease. No opportunity is wasted to inform Ilario that he must excel in everything he does, if he is to inherit the family business. To this end, Ilario is encouraged, almost forcibly so, to take part in a great many extracurricular activities, ranging from being on the student council to being an important member of the debate team.

Despite the constant attention and praise he receives from his father- or perhaps because of it- Ilario is very unhappy. The constant pressure for exceptional results weighs heavily on the future head of the family. Sophomore year, the anxious boy hyperventilated and passed out, while working on a paper for his economics class. Because of this, it was found that Ilario is plagued with borderline anxiety disorders, and has since been prescribed multiple anxiolytic and antidepressant medications.

The boy appreciates what his father does to keep the family as well off as it is and harbors a deep sense of duty towards the man. It is because of this, that he throws himself into his studies with exceptional vigor, always attempting to live up to what his father expects of him. However, he also harbors conflicting feelings deep in his chest. He would never admit it, least of all to himself, but Ilario greatly resents his father.

The man’s disregard for his children’s wishes, obvious favoritism, and lack of sympathy for anything that isn’t of his own concern all paint the portrait of a hated tyrant in Ilario’s heart of hearts. Worse still is that the young Fiametta boy is slowly realizing that he possesses many of his father’s distasteful traits. Whenever he gains the man’s praises for his achievements, Ilario is slightly pained at the similarities he shares with his progenitor. It hasn’t quite dawned on Ilario that he hates himself, yet, but the seeds of self-loathing are buried deep in the boy and will someday bear bitter fruit.

The dynamic Ilario shares with his siblings only helps to compound his anxiety. In addition to his many academic pursuits, Ilario has been charged, by his father, with the task of watching out for his sisters. His relationship with the girls is often stressed because of their father’s blatant favoritism. Ilario cares greatly for his sisters and always attempts to look out for their wellbeing. The girls, however, are of less charitable intentions, often using their brother’s concern to their own advantage. It could be said, quite fairly, that both Franscesca and Rosalia only spend time with Ilario when they want something from him.

Outside the family, the boy’s schedule is systematically filled to allow for very little personal time that isn’t spent on studying. Because of his busy schedule, the young intellectual has had almost no opportunity to develop much, beyond what his father set out for him. This leaves Ilario with many acquaintances but no friends, which is just as well. The troubled boy wouldn’t know what to do with friends.

Advantages: Being so involved in many aspects of school life makes Ilario a fairly well known person. He is also known to keep a level head, making him a person many would be willing to listen to. He is also a rather capable public speaker, giving him an edge when dealing with people who can be reasoned with.

Disadvantages: Ilario may not be out of shape, but he is not as fit as many other students. He is also on medications. Without them, he won’t become violent or aggressive, but sink into depression or have severe panic attacks.
Maybe the night seems so dark because the day is much too bright.
