Welcome to Survival of the Fittest, a RPing board loosely based off of Koshun Takami's Battle Royale, with its own unique plot and spin on the 'deadly game'. We've been around quite a while, and are now in our thirteenth year, so don't worry about us going anywhere any time soon!

If you're a newcomer and interested in joining, then please make sure you check out the rules. You may also want to read the FAQ, introduce yourself and stop by the chat to meet some of our members. If you're still not quite sure where to start, then we have a great New Member's Guide with a lot of useful information about getting going. Don't hesitate to PM a member of staff (they have purple usernames) if you have any questions about SOTF and how to get started!

Let the games begin!

First and foremost, I just wanted to say welcome to SOTF. There's been... quite an influx of you all lately, which is definitely a good thing. It's been doing wonders for pulling the forum out of its mid-game lag. To those of you who are just joining us, don't worry, there's still plenty of time to register and get your characters into the game! My goal for this game is to hit 200 characters (in total, of course, not living), so, for now, registrations are going to remain open for a bit. If we see a dramatic decrease in registrations in the near future, though, they'll be closed off until V4.

Now, because we've got so many newcomers and most of our older members (sans a few) are/were away, I wanted to cover a few things concerning our forum etiquette that you may or may not have already picked up on. It's simple stuff, really. :)

First and foremost, please, please, please, I can't stress it enough, please link your posts. You don't have to announce "This is my character's starting point!" but what we do ask of you is that when you leave one topic, you leave a link at the bottom saying "Continued in [topic name]", and during the first post of your next topic, "Continued from [topic name]". This makes it worlds easier to keep track of your character and makes it a lot less likely that they'll be inadvertently placed on an inactive list.

Second, I'm very much against OOC and flaming in the roleplaying forums. We've got tons of forums for all sorts of SOTF and non-SOTF related discussions, and I'd prefer that the OOC be kept on those boards. Of course, posting OOC to apologize for not posting or posting because something's wrong with your roleplaying partner's post are exceptions to this rule.

Thirdly, although this is kind of minor, I thought I'd point it out because I've come across it a few times. When posting, make sure you include the name of the character you are posting with in your post. You might know who "he" or "she" is, but we don't. ;-)

Our inactivity rules go something like this: two weeks/no post renders you inactive. By week three, your character will be forfeited and killed by a staff member. We've been getting a bit too lax on that, and it's time to get back on track. We've got an away topic you can utilize to keep your character safe from harm if you aren't able to roleplay, just keep in mind that being "away" only covers you for so long. If we see hide nor hair from you for two or three months after that, you being "away" is nullified.

Our announcements are done (usually) at the first of every month, unless stated otherwise by myself. For example, due to the fact that I was away, we didn't have an announcement this month. When that occurs, the characters remain on nighttime of the same day (in this case, day five). Weather conditions are stated in the announcements. Right now, it's raining, and has been for a while. Dangerzones and dice rolls are also posted in the announcements. Once a dangerzone has been declared, your character has three real-life days to remove themselves from it, no exceptions. If your character is rolled to die via dice roll, you have three real-life days to begin the death and five (in total, counting the three you had to begin) to complete it. If you require an extension, you may request one from the staff. Keep in mind though, that if it isn't a good reason, you won't be granted one.

All this information is covered in detail in our rules and FAQ section. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, you can PM myself, d0ddi0slave (my co-admin), riserugu (former mod and admin and honorary staffer), and Cycokiller (mod), or, you can post in our Support/Suggestions forum and someone will respond to you shortly. :)

Oh no, double-post. Don't do that if you can avoid it by the way, it's a bad thing. :P

I left something out earlier that I wanted to mention. SOTF's been going on for five days, we've got 50+ characters that are deceased. There are rotting, decaying bodies on the island. Please don't overlook them. :) Our wiki, which can be found here, is a great tool to utilize for information like that. The V3 Locations page tells you which bodies are where, the V3 Death Order page tells you when and how they died and who killed them. Make sure you research a bit, people get a little upset when you totally neglect the gruesome corpse that's laying directly in front of you.
