Welcome to Survival of the Fittest, a RPing board loosely based off of Koshun Takami's Battle Royale, with its own unique plot and spin on the 'deadly game'. We've been around quite a while, and are now in our thirteenth year, so don't worry about us going anywhere any time soon!

If you're a newcomer and interested in joining, then please make sure you check out the rules. You may also want to read the FAQ, introduce yourself and stop by the chat to meet some of our members. If you're still not quite sure where to start, then we have a great New Member's Guide with a lot of useful information about getting going. Don't hesitate to PM a member of staff (they have purple usernames) if you have any questions about SOTF and how to get started!

Let the games begin!

Okay, peoples. This is starting to grind on a lot of people's nerves, so, you know. I'll make this quick.

Do NOT enter really active topics if you're not going to post actively with your character!

Honestly now! We all wanna be included in the storylines and stuff, but if you're going to enter a topic, MAKE SURE THAT YOU'RE ACTIVELY POSTING IN THE TOPIC! I know that I, personally, am getting annoyed with some topics, because I don't like having my own characters held up when people don't want to post for a week, and neither does anybody else. It's rude, and it's annoying.

If you're in an active topic and you're going to be away for a while, you don't have to completely exit the topic if you don't want to, but for Christ sakes, get your character to a point where they aren't crucial to the storyline and aren't holding anything up.

Also, if there are already like eight people in an area, it's probably better to start somewhere else. Just a thought. We've got areas that are completely empty and others that are getting way overcrowded for absolutely no reason at all. There's... really... no need for that.

So basically, I'm gonna keep this short and sweet. If you're going to enter an active topic, post. If you're not gonna post more than once every four to seven days, don't enter an active topic. This should be common sense, right? I'm just... refreshing some people's memory, because they seem to need it.

Thanks!

I'd have to second this, and I'll give a real good example of why.

Say I can't post for a week or so because of school (this is a fairly realistic sitaution and will actually likely happen in a week or so to me, so just bear with me here). Now instead of leaving my guys in the topic, I'll take them OUT of the topic. Reasons aren't that hard. Now, instead of putting them in another one, you just...leave them in limbo. You avoid the danger zone thing, you avoid holding anyone up, and when you post again, all you need to say is that you got lost, stopped to tie your shoe, had a nap...whatever.

Y'know?

Just makes things flow a little nicely.

PS: For the record, I hate school and it is a dirty little bitch.

Maybe we could take a poll on this, because I know personally I miss the multiple topics per area format. The one topic per area seems to forced, because you could have an idea for a certain area of the island (example, when Cyco had Harry hide in the trees ready to pounce at the bridge) but, that could be thrown off by the plethora of people that enter said topic.

I'm all for a limit to the number of active topics being limited to maybe two or three per area, maybe this would be a change to consider?

In a perfect world, where everybody linked their own topics and all that fun stuff, that'd be just fine and dandy. But, since I'm the one who winds up playing SOTF Maid and winds up having to do it more often than not, I'm afraid that's not even up for debate, 'cause V2 'caused me a HUGE headache with the multiple topics per area and the not linking of topics.

And besides that, the very large majority of the areas on the island are made to be small areas. Multiple topics in places like the cottage wouldn't even make sense. I'm just not understanding why it's so hard to stay on top of posts. Yeah, we lagged in V1 from time to time, but I see the same handlers causing the same problems in different topics. It's not that I'm saying "Don't roleplay with other people!"

I'm saying, "If the topic's moving faster than you can keep up, go with a slower one". Simple solution, and one that doesn't push everything off on the staff like people seem to like to do these days. But yeah, with the multiple topics thing, it just wouldn't work, because I designed the areas to be smaller, and it makes more sense for them to be smaller. People just need to practice a little common sense.

While I've been guilty of said problems in the past, it would really REALLY suck should I post and have to wait on someone who leaves their characters in a limbo of sorts.

Sure, there are always ways of getting out of said situations (God bless the Edit button) but it's still not something that should be done.

All of my characters are in limbo at the moment until I can post like, tomorrow afternoon. I have a history exam tomorrow and an algebra test. Plus, my freakin' internet went out again last night. Grrr... I hate cable.

And yes. I know this wasn't necessarily directed toward me. Just saying.

If I recall correctly, Percy, all your characters are in the mystical land of "elsewhere" anyway, which is exactly what SHOULD be done if you're gonna be away for a while. Thanks for doing your part. :)
