Ship's A Goin Down
Asuka looked over the side, shrugged.

“Nope. Don’t see anything.”

Asuka turned her eyes back to Lili. Try though she might—and she had to try, the girl seemed on the verge of hyperventilating—she couldn’t think of anything meaningful to say.

“Calm down, it happens. Not like I could do anything about it even if I did decide to get angry over your waving a gun in my face. No weapons here. And I can’t really blame you for not wanting to die, either.”

Damn, was this what counted for small talk when you’re trapped in a death game? It’d explain a lot of things, certainly. Like why Asuka was so bad at it.

Asuka stretched, yawned. It was a good stretch, but a crappy yawn.

“Nevermind that. How’s your time here been, so far? Got any plans for the future?”

Ship's A Goin Down
“Guess not. You gonna kill with that thing, then? If you’re planning on not dying, you will have to make at least one. Or maybe you’re not planning on killing but want to enjoy yourself a little more before your inevitable death?”

Asuka glanced over the edge of the bridge at the cold, stony-grey water below. It looked hard, like you’d break your bones if you hit it. At this height, you probably would.

“Not a bad view, I guess, if you’re trying to enjoy yourself.”

Also my apologies to Ricky if I was a rampaging asshole.

The irritating thing for me is that it felt like the game was largely solved by claims and night actions. I mean, I had the entire scumteam on my scumnull/scum list, sure, but that's mainly because everyone else was so confirmed-town that town could pretty much sit back and lynch everyone who wasn't confirmed/couldn't be confirmed, safe in the knowledge that they'll hit the entire scum team eventually.

Mass Effect Mafia Fallout Thread
also, we reached 2000 posts, vyse, are you proud of us

Mass Effect Mafia Fallout Thread
That makes two of us! :P

Also I pretty much second everything Toben just said.

Still not over his scumread on me, though :(

Mass Effect Mafia Fallout Thread
most of those were joke posts, though ;)

Mass Effect Mafia Fallout Thread
That said the sheer amount of inactivity this game was
:(

I mean, for scum that's understandable, especially given that I feel like they'd more or less given up due to bitter feelings about setup, but c'mon town.

Mass Effect Mafia Fallout Thread
Also props to Brackie for acting like his town self to the point that I wasn't sure he was scum even though everyone else left in the game was conf-town or close to it.

Props to:

MurderWeasel for planting most of the seeds of my suspicions on VoltTurtle (and also most of the stuff I got on her case about were related to her fight with you, so I wouldn't have had material to scumread her for without you).

Ricky for copping to Inge's crappy safeclaim and pushing him for it.

Frogue for consistently being conf-town, and also for sinking VoltTurtle and guiding town to victory in our final hour.

Grim, for giving me a massive headache.

gg, everyone! I'm pretty happy with my play, barring my asinine train against Vyse on day 1 >.<

That said, as VT said, this game was very, very town sided. Cop + 2 one-shot investigations more than offsets the lack of tracker and presence of godfather. You can practically confirm up to six people as town by day 2, and if it's not six people that's because scum got investigated, which is even worse. And between doctor, 2 one-shot protections, a bulletproof, a vengeful townie (effectively a bomb in this setup), and a commuter, actually successfully nk'ing people is incredibly hard for scum. (Also, this can create even more confirmed townies). Vig + 2 one-shot town kills is also quite powerful. Universal backup is icing on the cake.

I mean, we won with a fairly large margin with a mostly inactive town from what was effectively a numerical disadvantage (5 scum out of 18 (since 2 dropped out on day 1, game size was effectively 18) is more than normal), without our cop and vig, and also Ricky left the game too. There's no way that should've happened.

(I'm curious because I apparently still had a protection left on night 5 even though I'd already used it, and I didn't get a pm from decoy going like 'a mysterious medigel showed up in your locker)

Can we have a compilation of the night actions?

Ship's A Goin Down
((Asuka continued from Creature Comforts))

“Thinking about jumping? Cause if you are, I wouldn’t mind chatting first.”

Creature Comforts
((Asuka Takahara continued from Driven and Derided by Vanity))

It'd been a long time since Asuka wanted to believe in a higher power, and even longer since she actually believed in one. Recite from memory: Theodicy. Russell's teapot. Something about how the presence of divinity robbed everything else of meaning.

((placeholder, sorry :/))

So long.

Asuka locked eyes with Cass for the last time, and then she was gone. She couldn't be sure that it'd be the last time, but let's not count on getting to see her again. Let's give this the mournful weight of a last goodbye, in case it really was a last goodbye.

...

...

Please, just give her a little more time before it feels like she's just staring at a wooden door.

((Asuka continued in Creature Comforts))

Driven And Derided By Vanity
"I guess not. I've told you most everything."

...huh. She had, hadn't she?

"I hope I'll see you again, but...probably not. So just in case..."

Asuka balled up a slice of bread and tossed it to Cass.

"Here's a useless piece of bread. Something to remember me by, or something."

Driven And Derided By Vanity
"Hmmm...I like On the Road a lot, but Kerouac was kind of an asshole. It's kind of weird because jazzy-sounding writing, spontaneous prose and whatnot, isn't something I see as all that innovative, especially when you compare it to the postmodern stuff that was coming out at, like, almost the same time. But, like, I dunno. It made me feel things, and that's always good. Same goes for Catcher in the Rye. Fuck the haters, fuck the people who can't look at Holden Caufield without rolling their eyes."

"Um...right. Favorite author. Antoine de Saint Exupery, maybe? I kinda cried while I was reading his wikipedia biography. Oh, and I forgot to mention this, but I love Thomas Ligotti's Conspiracy Against the Human Race. It's about how our existence is basically a cosmic horror story."

That's how the theory works, right?

"Are there any questions that I missed? That you wished I asked?"

Driven And Derided By Vanity
Who do you love? But Asuka already knew that Cass had loved ones, and a list of names wasn't gonna mean much anyways. Favorite childhood memory? Least favorite childhood memory? But it's not like those tend to be very meaningful, anyways. Asuka couldn't remember any profoundly beautiful, or profoundly ugly, moments from her childhood. Her mood soared when she got candy; it plummeted when she got scolded.

For fuck's sake.

"Favorite artist? Favorite artwork? Favorite artistic movement?"
