Mild in the meta sense they can be very FU if they hit someone horrible. But please don't think about scum bombs existing guys, I'm not trying to sow seeds of fear here.

I think Vyse and Weasel's logic happens to combine to a rather sweet explanation of why I'm happy to just lynch a jester if they come forward today. Lynching jesters is basically a lost lynch for the day, but days become more and more valuable as time goes on, so we might as well get it out of the way now rather than later. In the meantime I'm still on Tobe's side that jesters are a dumb role, but I'm on my own side that I prefer to pretend they don't exist unless someone flat out says LYNCH ME BRAH I'VE GOT A SILLY HAT ON. (I mean, I suppose scum bombs exist but they don't really do anything either except give a mild FU to the town).

--I dislike the whole Jester exchange between Murder and Slam. I would love to hear why deliberately lynching a Jester is a good move for Town - it's essentially a guaranteed mislynch, and damages Town's ability to collect information from it. Guys, lynching isn't just the only Town-directed kill we're guaranteed, it's also the only thing that's going to force scum to come out of their comfort zone. If we hit a Jester by accident, okay, but an intentional Jester lynch would be massively counterproductive.

I'm particularly surprised to see MurderWeasel on board with this, given his typical approach of scumhunting as if they didn't exist. I especially dislike the bit in this post referring to a Day #1 lynch as arbitrary. A Day #1 lynch is necessary, and should not be treated as if we could afford to waste it. Otherwise you're guaranteeing that we will. I'm not exactly scumreading either Murder or Slam for this, but it's a point against them.

Given that nobody bit though, I hope we can just put the whole idea of a Jester behind us and get back to the game.

This makes me feel less concerned about Vyse. Good logic, brah.

also, marzipanstrudel is Bik? I feel out of touch.

I'm kind of overbuzzed on a coffee rush now so I'll go into detail on my scum reasoning later Naft, but the short version is that I don't feel like the reasoning people is giving is sufficient enough. But then I'm a noted opponent of day one lynching, so there we go.

Slam: My read on Slam depends on the rules of the game! It's slightly vague at the moment, so I'll go ahead and clarify.

GM: Can I get a ruling on win precedence? Specifically, does the victory of one faction preclude the victory of other factions, or can multiple factions win by completing their victory conditions, even if that completion is not simultaneous?
I read that as you being worried I was trying to pull another SOTF-TV Mafia.

Why would you think that losing a jester is better than netting a scum?

Never said that.
Elaborate further, then.
I'm just not sold on any of our current scum picks, so I wasn't considering lynching a jester relative to scum. I'm not saying people don't have points, I just think that it's a bit too soon to be certain of anything (as we so often see on day one). That and I really wanted to see if anyone would actually come forward on it.

I've never seen the point of letting a Jester affect your decisions. I mean, if they trick you into killing them, then good for them? Apart from a lost lynch day, it doesn't really change anything.

Hell I'll invite it out, if anyone's a jester just come forward now and we'll lynch you for free. (I mean, unless everyone else would rather continue chasing this Grim Wolf/Espi/I don't really know what people are thinking tbh train)

It's been ages since people were jumping on everyone's posts and immediately deconstructing them as scummy. I missed this.

So far, I know that Vyse and Espi couldn't be mafia together, at least.
Whhhhhhhy?

Momentum
Let's differentiate it from writer's block by having this be about not having ideas for keeping the story going in general, rather than just being stuck on getting something started.

oh yeah i have a role too.

Momentum
We've all been there one time or another: we've got a character we're loving, or one that we thought 'damn when the game starts this kid is going to be SUPER FLY!' but then you get to your next post and suddenly

BLAM

You're at a roadblock. You're flummoxed. You're out of ideas. However you spring it, it all comes to a similar result: your kid is stuck at zero momentum.

So do share, writers of other kids: what do you do when you find your stories stalling and your momentum slowing down? How do you get started on a right note? What tips can you offer other people on what to do with your kid if you find yourself lacking ideas of where to go next, or how to keep the story moving without just wandering through three threads and doing jack all?

Character Flaws
Yes a little clarification would've been golden:

Physical flaws - Anything that impacts a character's ability to interact with the world through their bodies (e.g. a limp, missing limbs, impaired vision, etc.)

Mental flaws - Anything that impacts a character's thinking and reasoning. (e.g. low intelligence, some mental disorders, shortsightedness)

Emotional flaws - Anything that impacts a character's abiltiy to manage emotions (e.g. short temper, other mental disorders)

Social flaw - Anything that impacts a character's ability to interact with other people. (e.g. shyness, some other mental factors again, overbearing personalities, etc.)

There's some spilling over between categories, no doubt. I'd suggest considering what area is going to be impacted most by the flaw as a result of it.

Character Flaws
This came up in a conversation I was having with a friend yesterday: he felt that emotional flaws were too easy to overcome and physical flaws made making the character impressive more interesting; I felt that physical flaws were a lazy option and that emotional flaws added more depth to the character. Now I'm wondering what other people think on the topic.
