Berg. Also, I was wondering about the Mission Board in the Undernet. If you got tasks from there and assaulted Netpolice, would they put a bounty on you? |

Just wondering, what are some of the requirements to earn the opportunity to train as a moderator? Other than not being a n00b, of course. |

*picks chin for a second* Hoping to become a mod, Grim? >: D Anyway, I don't really see what requirements you have to meet. Perhaps an overall good poster, being on relatively frequently, not being a n00b (obviously), and being nice to the populace? Though, if that last rule really is true, then there's no way in hell that Twi could be an Admin.[/pokingfun] |

The requirements for becoming a mod are very very specific and make IRS paperwork look like a connect-the-dots puzzle with handy blue lines inbetween the dots to help you out. ...Or I could just be lying, that works too. 1: We need to have a position open. Some people will say that the moderating team has a set amount of mods. These people are lying through their teeth. (Well, mostly.) With R&D and Battle Moderators, we have no 'limit', but there's usually a point where we can tell when we have too many or too few, and so we usually end up hovering somewhere in the middle. However! There IS a set number of Officials and Administrators (5 and 3, respectively), and we will promote people to these roles if we need to replace others. 2: We need to know and like you. This will sound horribly lame and incredibly shallow, but it's true. We're a lot more prone to approach people who we know could contribute something to the team or who we know we can trust not to abuse the power than people we don't know from 'Greg from down the street'. 3: "Single, Female... not looking? Damn." Simply put, if we're not looking for mods we're typically not going to be grabbing any. There are times where, even if we're not looking, certain people stand out enough that we want them on the team. However... if you're someone that's fixing to be a mod (Hopefully for all the right reasons) then there's one sure-fire way to get us looking again if we're not: Make us busy. More particularly, bring members to the site. The more actively RPing members there are, the busier the mod team comes, until eventually we have to start looking for potential mod candidates again. And hey-- the more members we have, the less likely it is for the site to end up dead at some point down the road. And that's always a good thing, right? 4: "What do you mean I can't just hammer down the nails that stick up?!" Stick out. If we are looking, you need to sell yourself to us (Without actually attempting to ego yourself out and tell us) as to why we'd want YOU over all the other talented and/or competent RPers on the site. 5: "Oh god, another one." Some people will tell you that the best way to become a mod is to never, ever ask whilst simultaneously trying to work mind-mojo on us in order to get us to make you a moderator. These people are half-right. I can remember a number of times when someone asked to be a moderator and got the position-- most of the time these were because we were already considering them, but I have one in particular that stands out in my memory, though I won't say who: I remember getting a PM in my inbox. Another one asking to be a moderator, right? Except... this wasn't your ordinary 'liek cn i b m0d plz?' PM. This was an actual, full-length (Well, as full-length as you'll get on an internet forum) RESUME that listed sites where they'd been a moderator before, for how long, and why they wanted to be a moderator. I was incredibly impressed, and if I recall I actually went straight to Eon and asked if he thought this guy'd be a good mod. This person is still on our moderation team. ...And I really need to find that PM. I want to read it again. =/ Sidenote: OhgodIjustrealizedthiswaslongerthanmylastRPpost. D: -Twi |

Thanks for the information, Twi! I'll keep this in mind while I RP. @Phoenix: Maybe... I need to get more well known in RERN but I would immediately jump on the opportunity to become a trainee. |

Hur hur, I could become a Mod by snapping my fingers. Or not... Don't know anymore. But before you go all berserk over the 'wonder possibilities' as a Moderator, it's not all roses and sunshine. The roses sting like hell and the sunshine burns your skin so intensely that the trip becomes a living hell. |

I was an admin on a Blockland server once (still am, not to mention admins there are just mods, as I am about to explain). I happen to have a bloated sense of duty while Im modding/admin-ing, and a super admin was being an ass, becuase "Admins have powers, but only super admins have the right" kind of thing. He un-banned the people I banned (specifically one person, who I repeatedly told to leave me alone), told people on the server to hun me down, and banned me twice. Luckily my best friend on that game was the server host ^^;. On a question asking note...Can an SP be attached to your navi without merging? Like, using SP's as an extra weapon? (provided they only use their sig attack). The reason I want to ask this is because it would kinda be a little neat, having SP's for battle equipment..I think >_>;. |

Besides being able to be in a slightly higher position of power and having another chunk of the forums open to you, I can attest to the fact that being a Mod/Staff/Admin ins't all that's cracked up to be and being part of staff is suck except for those precious few moments where you can become super awesome. Hell, you could use your position of power as justification to make your character stronger, but that's just an assholish and completely falls into the realm of power abuse which sets my rage senses (and everyone elses in a radius of fifty miles with an actual sense of self control and unpowerabuse too) through the charts so much, it's not funny. And it's that kind of abuse that kills things like forums, servers, and shit like that. Also, modwork is boring, slavish, and for the most part unthankful. You only really do it if you love the people you're modding and have a good head on you. |

I don't know, I'm usually knee deep in fine women at all of the staff parties that that we throw. Okay, I lied. I'm ususally knee deep in fine women at all that staff parties that I throw and don't invite any of the other staff to. OKAY. I'm usually knee deep in my own vomit from getting shit-faced at all of the staff parties that I throw and don't invite any of the other staff to. OKAY. I'm ususally sitting in my basement in my underwear crying myself to sleep trying to drink away my sorrows because of all the lack of appriciation I get. I invite the other staff over, but none of them bother to show up. I think that they all have parties with fine women without me. |

Again, actual question, becuase this is as close to merging as not really merging. Like, for example, adding a gun to your navi...somehow.... or an addition to a hydra navi >_>.... Or a piece of armor... |
