Name: Mill Alidine Age: 20 Gender: Male Appearance: Mill has never been on the cutting edge of fashion, nor does he even try to be, and it shows in his clothing, which he picks out by virtue of function and little else. Mill alternates between contact lenses and a pair of small-framed glasses at his convenience, although lately he’s been leaning towards the glasses moreso. He used to wear denim jeans, but swapped them out for a pair of khaki cargo pants, with the reason being that he needed bigger pockets for the bulky PET he made. And after the necessary changes, Mill found that his outfit was clashing like hell even by his standards, so he went ahead and changed some more. He tossed his navy blue T-shirt for an ever-compatible white one. Much to his relief, the new shirt helped bring in his favorite olive green jacket, which he kept, along with his cheap white sneakers. He’ll discard the jacket in warm weather, of course, since Mill isn’t too keen on sweating bullets for the sake of fashion. Naturally, his physical features haven’t changed much: 5’10” height, 150 or so pounds, short and messy brown hair, green eyes, and a somewhat scrawny build. Personality: Mill’s an all-or-nothing kind of guy, in the sense that when he does something, it’s either with the utmost finesse and skill, or a complete and utter disaster. It’s not that he’s unreliable. Really, his better moments tend to come in a pinch. But when things do blow up in his face, it’s a real fireworks display. Add the fact that Anyis likes to blast her way through danger, and… well, it’s like dumping extra gunpowder on the fireworks. The fact that he can usually dig himself out of these situations due to experience is bittersweet, but appreciated nonetheless. It’s not all bad, though. Mill has developed a fairly casual attitude towards Anyis, Magna, and other people in general. That’s important because he used to put Navis and other programs on a lower level than real people, but now he can laugh and argue (mostly argue in Anyis’s case) with them like anyone else. He generally tries to be nice around people, but sometimes a naturally sarcastic tongue will slip, although that’s typically just reserved for taking light jabs at his Navi and SP. Mill gave up on programming some time after completing Magna, but in its place he found a knack for hardware, which he is currently exploring through a self-made PET that he is constantly tweaking. If he had to fault himself, Mill would admit that he lacks a real, long-term aspiration to follow. He’s had hobbies come and go, but there’s always been trouble answering the question of what to do with his life. PET Modifications: A deep purple second generation PET (a la MMBN3; Mill likes the bigger screen compared to Link PETs) with orange grips. It had been a pet project of Mill’s for good while, as evidenced by the Magna-esque color scheme, although he’s tweaked it as needed to adapt to Anyis’s style. It’s installed with various scanners, trackers, and video codecs to help Mill see and make use of Anyis’s powers. There’s also a foldout mini-keyboard on the back that Mill uses for any on-the-spot coding he needs to do. After tinkering with it for a while, Mill managed to hook up a miniature holo-projecter that lets Anyis create a 6-inch high image of herself in the real world. Along with all this, of course, Mill upgraded the PET with all the functions of the more modern Link PET, in particular the wireless jack-in capabilities, so as to not be at a disadvantage against recently produced models. Name: Anyis.exe Gender: Female Element: Aqua Subtype: Melee Appearance: Originally designed with the appearance of a shrine priestess, Anyis has undergone subtle transformations with each of her Operators before arriving at her unique spirit medium design that Mill is familiar with. She is roughly 5’4” tall, with about half an inch added on from the heels on her white boots, which extend up to just below her knees before narrowing into gold-trimmed points. Her basic design sports a midnight blue bodysuit, but most of it is covered by her robe. This robe, the sole survivor of Anyis’s original design, is made to match the large white robe of old Electopian shrine priestesses, but it has seen some trimming. The ends of the robe only reaches halfway down her thighs, reveals her navy blue bodysuit and boots below. The sleeves are cut to only go half the length of her upper arms, giving a small glimpse of bare skin (her bodysuit doesn’t have arms) before her gloves appear. The robe is held tight by a matching navy blue belt buckled with Anyis’s emblem: a topaz glistening with bits of data. Anyis’s gloves are the focal point of her entire design. They are long white gloves that extend all the way up to her elbows before ending in a point on the outer sides with a subtle golden trim. Each glove has a single topaz gem embedded into the back of the hands that glows accordingly with the amount of energy Anyis uses at any given moment. The gloves are capable of transforming into her Custom Weapon. Her body structure is feminine, but at the same time lithe and limber enough to give her athletic ability. Her bust is a modest at best, and almost completely disappears when hidden in her robe. Anyis’s face is cute, but it can be hard to tell due to the impatient look that usually adorns it. Her eyes are the same deep orange color of her topazes and can make you feel like they’re looking straight through you. Her hair, a vivid purple color, is somewhat long, reaching a little past her shoulders before fraying out into loose strands and completing her look. Personality: Anyis was created with a stoic mood to keep her focused on her job. That worked… for a while. Patience wears over time, though, and Anyis’s last straw snapped a few decades ago. Being ageless, most Navis figure they have all the time in the world. Her problem is that she’s been around long enough to spend what most would think is all the time in the world. In short, Anyis is just downright impatient nowadays. Having fulfilled all her goals, Anyis just goes from day to day trying to get excitement from wherever she can find it. Due to the hollow obligations that tie her down, that excitement usually comes from fighting. This developed into a generally combative nature that Anyis carries into her normal conversations, where she’ll rarely, if ever, back down from an argument or not getting her way. In case of emergency, there are two ways to ease her up: one, bore her. As much as her long life has left her searching for excitement, it has also left her prone to boredom when that excitement can’t be found. It’s not that she just doesn’t care, but when you live for so long and have seen so much, things don’t really have the same wow they used to. The second option for taming Anyis is embarrassment. Unlike the rest of her personality that came to be over time, Anyis has always just had trouble dealing with embarrassment. Her aggressive side covers her under most situations, but here and there an awkward situation can clam her up in an instant. And, much to Anyis’s chagrin, Magna seems to have a knack for producing those awkward situations. She doesn’t even know how to get over him calling her “Mother Unit”. History: Anyis is actually a second-generation Navi, created back around the implementation of the current Net and upgraded and modified over the years. She is one of a set of 4 Navis designed by a small division of the Net’s creators, charged with the task of regulating junk data as it appears on the Net under the command of a lone supercomputer. The need for this soon became apparent with the advent of the River: a flowing mass of junk data high in the sky that twists and turns its way all around the Net, eternally churning as the junk data that composes it seeks to reassemble itself. Demolished buildings, deleted viruses, Navis killed in battle… all of that and more is what populates the River. It is a rather imposing and menacing sight, and the only reason that it didn’t create an utter panic at its first appearance is that the particulates of data that make it are too small for the average Navi’s vision to process. The 4 regulators, Anyis included, counter this fact with a special video codec, aptly called the River codec, that lets them visually process those fine particulates of data. The 4 Navis were organized and unified by a supercomputer that would calculate how much junk data was where at any given moment and dispatch the Navis as needed. The overarching mission? Prevent a cataclysmic-scale event dubbed “The Flood”: an over-accumulation of loose junk data at any one point, diverting the flow of the River and polluting the ground Net with even more junk data to the point where it completely crashes. It was a noble mission to be sure, but technology pays little heed to morals. Soon enough, someone figured out how to make the Net regulate itself, and an over-accumulation of data became nigh impossible outside of an act of Net-terrorism. As a result, the manual regulators fell out of memory and, one would assume, out of duty. Unfortunately for the Navis, however, the supercomputer never received its order to cease regulation, and more or less enslaved the Navis to continue the long-dead “mission”. Over time, their interaction with the River, and Navi ghosts as a result, landed them a new name: Undertakers. And so the Undertakers continued to erase the remains of the dead, else the supercomputer presiding over them erase them instead if they don’t meet an erasure quota every now and then. Fighting battle after battle, moving from one Operator to the next, striving towards a pointless cause without anyone’s knowledge... This is the life of an Undertaker. Recently, though, one of the Undertakers came up with the idea to provide public funeral services for recently deceased Navis, and it has proved fruitful in both helping to meet their quotas and to spread the Undertaker name so that they can secretly help preserve their own lives. All 4 Undertakers, Anyis included, have signed onto this idea, and will converge together on occasion for the funeral service of a high ranking Navi, whether he or she be in the NetPolice or the NetMafia. So long as they can make their erasures, the Undertakers don’t particularly care who you are. Custom Weapon: River Gauntlets Anyis can, at will, transform her gloves into a pair of large silver gauntlets. They look a little disproportionate for her size, but Anyis has no problems wielding them. The plating on the gauntlets is fairly heavy, and the forearm guards are layered with slightly sharpened scales, which help assist in parrying attempts. The only feature between the gloves and gauntlets that matches is the topazes embedded in the back of the palms. Melee Attack – Anyis punches the target. For the charged attack, the gauntlet becomes coated in a thick sheet of ice, effectively doubling the size of her fist, before Anyis makes a wind-propelled strike with it. Ranged Attack – Anyis fires clumps of data from her palm. For the charged attack, Anyis creates a large ice wall in front of her and promptly punches it into oblivion, creating an array of razor-sharp ice shards which, with assistance from a quick gust of wind, rain down on the opponent. Signature Attacks (420/500 points): Channel Surf (120 Strengthen, 3TCD; 120 points) Anyis summons several ghosts from the River, channeling them through her body simultaneously. By cycling through them to make use of their proficiencies, Anyis can power up her attacks to whatever degree she needs. As is the case whenever she channels a ghost, Anyis’s eyes and gems take on a luminescent glow. Raining River (Stage Change Sea Terrain, 3TCD; 100 points) Anyis sends a disruption through the River’s structure, causing bits and pieces of data to come down as a cold, dreary rain in a sudden deluge. As the rain hits the ground, everything begins to liquidate until the entire field is one giant pool of ice-cold water. Boogeyman (Knockback, Passive; 10/40 points) Built originally as a simple shortcut program for Anyis to vent excess channeled data, Boogeyman became something of an enigma as he gained the ghostly model of a battered NormalNavi. Despite his pseudo-body, Boogeyman has no personality and knows only one thing: push. Anyis tells him where and when, and Boogeyman will push with all his might. And potentially scare the crap out of some people with his caved-in head. Ice Bleeding (Imbue Aqua, Passive; 20/80 points) Because she has to leave her coding fairly open to channel ghost data, it can’t be helped that tiny amounts of Anyis’s data will leak out on occasion. Rather than curse the fact, though, she turns it to her advantage and bleeds her code into the weapons she uses, possessing them with an icy aura. Ectopatcher (15 HP Healing, Passive; 20/80 points) When needed, Anyis’s systems will automatically draw in some junk data and reformat it to her specifications, helping to repair any minor damage she might incur. GMO Files Divewear.GMO (Level 0 GMO) As per Anyis’s request, Mill made a swimsuit for her. Her robe, boots, and bodysuit are all forsaken for a two-piece that is designed with a more athletic style in mind. Not much is left to imagination when Anyis is wearing, but that’s more due to the form-fitting design than it being particularly revealing. Both parts have secure, thick straps and are given an orange color with navy blue trimmings along the edges. Her usual long, white gloves are replaced very short navy blue ones, the ends of which don’t even reach her wrists. Anyis’s topaz gems are still embedded in the back of the hands like usual, and the spacing between the fingers are webbed to grant her better traction in the water. Her transformed gauntlets lose their scaly texture, becoming much smoother overall for the sake of hydrodynamics when attacking. One extra accessory is granted to Anyis in form of a miniature oxygen filter attached to a waterproof string tied around her neck, which effectively solves that “can’t open mouth or talk underwater” problem she found out she had. Finally, with her belt gone, Anyis finds her emblem embedded in the face of her filter. Overall, the design addresses all of Anyis’s underwater needs, and she secretly admits that Mill didn’t do that bad of a job on the look of it, either. Support Programs Name: Magna.SP Gender: Male Element: Normal Type: Shield Appearance: Despite the down-conversion from Navi status to SP, Magna himself hasn’t gotten any smaller. He’s still a metal golem, he’s still 10 feet tall, and yes, he’s still largely purple. All that aside, probably the most notable thing about Magna is his lack of legs. His lower body is a single purple pillar, almost cylindrical if the lower end of his base wasn’t larger than the top. Contained within this single base is a heavy metal piston, which Magna employs for all sorts of things, such as jumping and violent crushing. Magna’s upper body is all fixed upon his lower torso coming out of the base, which is a simple cylinder shape with a pale yellow color. His upper torso returns to the majority purple color and is a wide elliptical shape, except for two sockets that his circular shoulders rest in. His upper arms are the same pale yellow as his lower torso, and anyone looking at Magna would think that those simple cylinders shouldn’t be able to support his abnormally large forearms. His forearms, also purple, are somewhat egg-shaped in that they get larger as you get closer to his fingers. Magna doesn’t have literal “hands”, exactly, as his fingers just extend out of the end of his forearms, and the only thing that even tries to mark where the palm is a shutter on each that house Magna’s ranged weapons systems. Magna’s fingers are a hazard orange color, and their joints are put together by bunches of hinges and screws. More than anything else, Magna’s head is remarkably… unremarkable. There’s really no noticeable transition from a neck to a head, especially since whatever joint might be there is obscured by a round, metal, collar-like ring. As a Navi, Magna had an emblem on his collar, but it disappeared when he was converted into an SP. Magna’s head juts out of that ring, never expanding in the size dictated by the ring, and rounds out into a perfect semi-sphere for his scalp. Magna lacks an animated face, as the only thing on his head are three holes: two round ones drilled into the head for eyes, and one rectangular hole that serves as a mouth. You can’t tell what exactly is through those holes, as a glowing orange light in his head ruins any chance to see what exactly makes this golem tick. Personality: By Mill’s original design, Magna lacked a distinctive personality to speak of. As is the case, or maybe horror story, with AIs, though, Magna developed his own morals and tendencies as he experienced things in his life. Thankfully, the more self-aware Magna of today has no plans to be the overlord of organic life. In fact, Magna is by and large a very morally upright Navi. He is well aware of his massive size, and is not afraid to throw that mass in the way of danger to protect those smaller than him. That is no more illustrated than his current situation, as Magna sacrificed his life as a Navi to save Anyis. It’s unclear as to how or why Magna developed such a strong sense of justice, but it exists, and he has come to learn how to defy the orders that would once be followed without a hitch should it oppose Magna’s justice. Despite having found a unique personality of his own, Magna still retains some of the computer-like mannerisms he once had. His voice is still very much robotic sounding, and while it’s not truly monotone, it sounds like Magna is constantly speaking through a digital filter. He also tends to assign titles in place of people’s names. Mill is “Operator”, other Operators and Navis are “Unit ____”, and so on. There’s this weird habit, too, of announcing when he’s running a search or a scan that most Navis wouldn’t consider more noticeable than breathing. Mill resigned himself as a poor programmer some time after he made Magna, probably convinced so by his Navi’s odd quirks, but for better or worse, this swan song is still around. Custom Weapon: Shutter Palms – Shutters on each of Magna’s palms open up to reveal buster cannons. The right hand shutter serves as a regulation buster, while the left works as a heavy cannon reserved for charge shots and special attacks. Despite having ranged weapons, though, Magna is just as likely to smash a face in with his fist or crush something into about 20 pieces with his piston. Signature Attack: Golem’s Buckler (1 Hit Shield, Passive; 20/80 points) Magna always had a proficiency with shields, and it just wouldn’t feel right if he couldn’t make one at will. Unlike his old earthen shield, Magna’s new shield is of the same purple alloy that comprises him. Size-wise, it’s a heavy tower shield… to most. Magna happens to fall just outside of that category, and wields it effectively with one hand. Crosses MeleeCross Level: 1 Element: Fire Subtype: Melee Description: The level of understanding that could only be conveyed through fists has produced this manifestation of power! That, and the eternal battle between Anyis and MeleeMan to one-up each other inevitably would produce a strong Cross. The expected changes start from her feet and work up. Anyis’s boots retain their normal knee-high design, but the white and gold trim both turn to the same dark gray to match the color of MeleeMan’s own boots. Anyis’s normally dark blue bodysuit stays dark, but becomes red rather than blue. Her white robe is replaced by a version of MeleeMan’s black jacket tailored to fit her own needs, such that it extends only partially down her thighs and sleeves are cut short just like with her original robe. The black belt with her emblem is still there to tie the jacket down. From this point on, Anyis stopped borrowing directly from MeleeMan. His helmet lacks a certain feminine appeal, so for the woman taking on his design, Anyis manifested a translucent red visor that reaches across her eyes and over her ears. For some strange reason she doesn’t understand, the visor actually took her ability to see ghosts and junk data, so can actually lose it if she takes the visor off and alternately grant someone else the ability if she gives them the visor. With her hair unrestrained by a helmet, Anyis ties it back into a short ponytail while in MeleeCross. What’s sure most apparent about the changes of MeleeCross Anyis, though, is two things about her arms. One, the fact that her forearms and hands are so thoroughly and completely bandaged that Anyis has pretty much no use of them at all. Two, her usual gauntlets are free-floating at her sides. If you put on her spirit-visor, you’d actually see that her gauntlets have been possessed by a pair of ghosts, but to the average eye they’re completely unchained to Anyis. In her normal form, Anyis has trouble specializing when she has to juggle her ghost, ice, and physical techniques all at the same time. MeleeCross has polarized her skills straight into the physical element, turning Anyis towards the self-founded discipline of the Spirit Fist. With her own arms bound and her gauntlets possessed, MeleeCross Anyis can fight with a rare brand of ranged melee combat. She has complete control over her gauntlets as if they were her normal hands, although the optimal range doesn’t go more than twice past Anyis’s normal arm reach. She can launch straight-line jabs over a good distance, but any complex movements beyond that range is beyond her. Signature Attack: Spirit Fist: Red Hot Phantom (Gravity, Large Area Lava Terrain Change, 2TCD; 80 points) Anyis ignites the ghost in her right gauntlet, turning it into raw propulsion as the gauntlet blasts forward in a wake of ground-melting heat. Once it reaches the target, the gauntlet grabs the enemy and drags them back to Anyis through the newly-created lava.
