So I'm a bit behind on everything and I still pretty much get all my movies in physical copies from the rental store. Well, my local Blockbuster shut down a few months back so I need a plan B. At the start of the summer it looked like Netflix was definitely by best option, but recently I hear people complaining that the prices are going up and that the movie library is going down the shitter.

So I ask you, ProM, to give me advice on what my best option is for renting movies. Remember that you're talking to someone who's never tried any of these services out before.

And also, keep it legal. >_>

Do you want streaming or mail delivery?

Either one, I guess. Mail would be preferable but I wouldn't mind either way.

Netflix has an excellent selection if you get the stuff mailed to you, I've been using them on and off for years and never had any problems besides not being able to find a video to stream.

And if you don't rent much, Amazon rents out movies for $1.99-$3.99 a piece to stream

Since you prefer the mail though, Netflix may be better. In my experience you can get about 2 movies a week through the mail on a 1-DVD plan

Don't forget RedBox for newer movies. It gets them before Netflix and is $1 a day. That in combination with a 1-DVD plan from Netflix might be pretty good. Provided you have one near your home.

RedBox for newer movies, Netflix for TV shows. I don't really know anything about Hulu.

The price increase is only bad if you want to both stream and have DVDs mailed to you. If you only want one or the other it's of no consequence.

I personally find the Netflix streaming movie selection to also be adequate, but I've seen enough people complain that they never have what they're looking for that I accept that it's a coincidence that any movie I've ever looked up (except for LotR part 2 and 3) was on there. They definitely have a much better selection through the mail than streaming for movies.

AGAIN?
Netflix streaming has a good selection, especially if you aren't a fag and willing to give something with subtitles a shot. Netflix mail service has an amazing selection.

Netflix streaming - probably the greatest thing for TV Shows since TV
Netflix to Home - Everything I've ever wanted is there

You see why I still use them

If Netflix could just hammer out some better new release deals and get deals struck with every network (goddamnit, I want NCIS streaming!!) they could turn me away from being a pirate. My pirating has taken an incredible dip since I signed up for an account.

So it sounds like Netflix is the way to go. Glad to hear that they've got a good mail selection.
