I'm listening to the soundtrack of Silent Hill on Spotify...

If there is one thing that really made the Silent Hill games scary, it would have to be the sound design. You could be walking down an empty hallway and still be too scared to walk through it because of the great sound/music in Silent Hill. I wish more games could be like Silent Hill. >_>

Loved the early Silent Hills. Such good fucking games.

I was rocking the Parasite Eve soundtrack the other day. I got momentarily obsessed with the idea of replaying it but settled for listening to the soundtrack.

I'm actually very disappointed they changed the music composer for SH8. Of course, it could still be very exciting, but I have my doubts.

Also, I wouldn't have minded SH: Homecoming if it wasn't for the main character being as controllable as a refrigerator. >_>

I played Homecoming at my friend's house and Jesus Christ, you aren't lying. He had saved before a boss fight with the mannequin thing (the lanky doll chick) and had less than half of his life and like 2 bullets. I tried for at least an hour trying to beat the boss but I just couldn't get used to the controls to where I was able to roll out of the way and dodge everything the bitch did. Fuckin' axe was slow.

Yeah, dodging really wasn't as responsive as it had to be. I'm still not sure how they managed to make the combat worse. Quite frankly, I didn't see a need to "upgrade" the combat, since it was never the true focus of the game. Combat was more or less there as a defence mechanic. Homecoming would have been great if it wasn't for the combat getting in the way. I actually stopped because I couldn't get through the sewers...

the combat in SH:3 annoyed me to no end, if only because half the time the lighting worked against you as much as the controls. still one of my favorite soundtracks though.

If there is one thing I liked more than anything else in the Silent Hill movie, it would have to be the soundtrack. It set just the right tone and atmosphere for the movie...

Isn't the guy who does the music for Dexter doing the new Silent Hill soundtrack?

Also you know a composer is doing their job right if hearing/remembering the music of a game makes you want to play the game again.

I think he is, yes. I haven't watched Dexter, so I don't know what to expect. But, judging from the trailer, it doesn't really feel like Silent Hill. >_>

I only really liked the first 3. I didn't bother beating 4, Origins wasn't bad, Homecoming was kinda stupid but not as terrible as most people say. I heard awesome things about Shattered Memories but I was really disappointed by it.

Exactly my thoughts.

I tied the poll in favour of the original Silent Hill. SH2 most definitely is the better game over all taking into account the story, symbolism and hidden meanings, but I still like SH1 better.

I voted for 2 but really, 1 and 2 are equally fucking awesome.

I have to say, while I don't dislike SH2, I prefer SH1 simply because it felt scarier. >_>
