I'm Coming Home
Back when you made that passing comment about my action figures and I wound up getting them up from the basement and taking pictures of them all stood up for you I never did take them back down to the basement.

Fast forward to today, I go out to the garage to smoke and I hear rain. Well, I thought I heard rain. But then I said to myself, it's not raining. So I open the basement door and turn the light on and hear a fuckin' waterfall. I run down the steps and plop down into ankle high water. I run over to the water heater and since nothing was happening there I slosh over to the pipe on the wall and that's where it was pouring from. I turn the valve quickly and... nothing, closed but water is still pouring in so I slosh back upstairs and call my cousin.

He just happened to be working construction nearby so he made a few calls and got one of those tools the water department uses to affix to the (since i don't know what it's called) thing outside in order to turn and completely shut off the water. He called his other friend who is a plumber and dude is going to come down here sometime this afternoon but all the shit I had down there is ruined.

It broke my heart to see the original Ghostbusters HQ toy and an old Batmobile just floating around in water, thinking how much that shit would have been worth if it was in good condition. Not that it was really that well off before this happened, but meh. I did save a Furby and that blue elephant thing from star wars. They were on top of a box that was marooned out in the basement lake. One of my old shitty computers was submerged so I kicked it over on its side and shouted PWNT.

tl;dr - Thank you Ohjoy for inspiring me to go gather up all of those Marvel/DC/etc. figures and get them together for a group shot, for at least they are saved from the basement lake.

p.s. - Is this karma fucking with me? "Lake house? I'll show you lake house.."

Seriously, I used one of those number in my lottery ticket today!

(Although we don't have powerball, just 6 plain numbers).

I'm pretty sure I brought all of my DC/Marvel figures up but he could have very well gotten left behind because he was rather small compared to more modern toys.

A little team came out later that day with a backhoe (yay, $$$) and fixed the water line. A guy I graduated with happened to be the one driving the backhoe so before they left he called me over to the side and told me he'd come back later with his own water pump and we would get it set up. So I'm sure not having to pay for that saved me three, four dollars in the grand scheme of things. But the water was pretty much pumped out of by midnight that night.

There's still two or three areas down there were there's water settled even though the majority of the basement is alright now (well, as alright and dry as it could be). This is going to be sooo much fun getting all of that ruined shit out of there. It will take me forever. I wish there was a second, more reasonable entrance to the basement and not just the one narrow fifteen foot staircase that leads into hell.

Also when we went down there to hook the pump up my cat was sitting on the basement steps looking at me like WTFISTHISSHIT and I tried to get him to come up into the garage to get out of our way but he wasn't having it. So we just start walking down the stairs and cat freaks out and gallops down to the bottom of the stairs. When we didn't stop walking towards him he dives out into the basement lake and has a stroke trying to get onto a nearby box.

between the real life lake house and the cat freaking out I am crying with laughter (maybe a little to do with a lack of sleep). That really does suck though, I'm sorry for your loses.

Cat is sad. That was basically his house down there. I had some boxes set up with old blankets in them and he would always plot evil. Now he is homeless and wandering the front yard like a delirious turkish prisoner.

that combined with Munch (since we all know Zersch is really John Munch in disguise) walking down the stairs going WTFISTHISSHIT when he initially sees he has a lake in his basement. :LOL!:

Sorry for not replying sooner but I've been busy with community college and stuff. I'm sorry to hear that your shit got wreaked in the garage (Might happen to me too there's this huge bulge in the garage roof, possibly filled with water) but I'm happy to hear that your old action figures were saved (How long ago was that, a year?) I hope you get your garage sorted out soon and it isn't all wreaked.

Edit: Found the old topic, it was around a year ago:
