Posting this now because I want to get a feel for interest. If enough people show interest it will go ahead. Depending on numbers, the complexity will increase. It's a new idea I came up with for a forum game that borrows inspiration heavily from the Saw and Cube movies involving an escape from an underground maze full of traps and psychological tasks. The Premise: A bunch of everyday folk get tossed up together in a huge underground labyrinth. In a game that takes inspiration from Saw and Cube, these people must work together if they ever hope to reach the exit and live to see another day. This task will not be easy, as the maze will prove to be quite impenetrable, full of traps and dangers around every corner. Few will make it out alive. Watched over by the faceless dungeon master booming out commands, a number of psychological tasks and challenges will be presented throughout. The goal, to live. And to make matters worse, some of the fellow captives hold dangerous secrets...which may prove to be fatal. Who do you trust and where do you go? Only the most cunning and devious can hope to make it out alive... The Setup: Labyrinth will be held on a subforum on EN. In spite of it being on EN, some players may wish to remain anonymous if they fear a track record going against them. For this reason players may create a new account for the game, in order to have their username work against them. The subforum will be split off into sections. The game will be divided into 24 hour phases. Each phase will start with a description of the setting players are in and will involve the players all voting to take a path in the maze. The paths available will be described. The maze will work logically, so if players have exited a room to their left the previous day, they can re-enter that room by moving backwards. Players will be split into two teams. Each team will start in a different part of the maze. As a result, there will be different sections for each team to post in, with no players being able to view what the other team is doing. External discussion, unless otherwise stated will be banned for this reason. Any talk outside the game will result in modkills. I will not be lenient. Additionally, players may opt to move in different directions to their teammates. In doing so, on the next phase they will have their own section to post in. Only players in the same maze section will be posting together. So if both teams meet up they will post in one unified section. On top of the normal run of voting for a path, some phases will have additional tasks to perform, given by the dungeon master or presented in the room itself. These will be fully outlined in the forum, or may be given privately to selected players. I will not play fair. Some of the tasks will be very cruel and devious. The dungeon master has the final say. Note though that everything I do will be pre-planned. IF you play well and follow the rules you will survive. Some rooms may contain fatal traps. There is never going to be an instance of a trap that kills an entire batch of players though. I do want this game to last. The last thing of note is that players will each be assigned a role like in mafia. They will also each have a private win condition. Most conditions will be to survive alone or in your team but there will be exceptions. Some of the players may be deliberately working against you so be warned. I will likely post an open list of roles, to prevent claiming bullshit but I will NOT announce win conditions, nor will I announce the roles of killed players. All in all it will be a huge clusterfuck game. To make it worthwhile I am aiming for 30 or so players but the more I get, the better it will be. Any less and I can work, but I will need to downsize the maze. So who is interested? Final Word Games can lend themselves to inactivity. As a result this game will have measures in place to ensure that players remain active. Each room will be fitted with a trap that will activate as soon as the next phase begins. Any player who has not opted to leave the room will be hit with the trap and in most cases, killed. There may be exceptions written into the game. Because the first day is slower the starting room will have a 48 hour wait. I know that every player may not be able to attend each day and I have accounted for this. If a player is otherwise engaged and definitely can't make it for whatever reason, they may post about it in their private player journal. In these instances a player can opt to be a Follower. A follower may select any single player in their vicinity and give me a time limit, say 3 days. During that time, said player will follow whatever path their leader takes and perform no actions. They may still die in this time. As long as you announce this beforehand you will be okay. Anybody who does not announce it will be killed by the trap. You have been warned. The game will not wait for people who aren't involved. If a player is unavailable and ONLY IF they are alone in a maze section, that player may opt to Automate. Automation will merely move a player through the first available exit on every day. This will never be the exit they just came from, but may not necessarily be the best path and could well be fatal. Be wary of travelling alone. I will try and update every day but I make no promises. As this will be a complicated game. Still interested? If you want to sign up, do so soon. I really wanted to have an EN vs. ProM mega survivor with players from both sides representing their home teams but I can't bring myself to plan something that complex. I mean this is complex but the challenges in survivor get hard to think up. Survivor is a lot of fun though. I think it was considered there would be no interest over here or something. Don't know why since we peddle mafias every other week but whatever. |
